Fixed Screen-broke everything else

Please help with my frustration. I have read a lot of forum posts and cannot figure out what next step I need.
After I replaced the screen + digitizer, the "volume up" button and the "sleep/power" button stopped working. (I know the common issue is a broken wire, I wish I could see that was the issue) I was very careful taking the screen apart and did not snag or bend any wires. Also, if I unplug and re-plug in the multi-pin connector for the volume and power control, I found the "Volume Up" WILL work but "volume down" will not. Doing this a few times made the "side switch" stop working and kept alternating "volume up" or "volume down" working but never both at the same time. I read another post on a different forum site and a guy had my same issue. He bought a new wire set for the power and volume buttons but that did not solve his problem. (That was the next step I was going to take until I read that)
Any ideas?

I did not plan on them doing anything. The price they charge to fix a broken screen is enough to buy a new iPad. I plan to be the one repairing. I just need a little guidance on what to try next.

Hi DGuerra, based on a past thread, the missing comments may be related to using avast! and its browser add-on(s).
Firefox is so easy to customize that it's not really surprising to find differences between two systems. These can relate to the menu choices (orange Firefox button or classic menu bar), toolbar layouts, and of course, add-ons.
If you have a preference for one setup versus another, hopefully these articles can equalize some of those layout issues:

You can compare extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Perhaps you can get the two side-by-side to make it easier, or to extract a text list, you can use the troubleshooting information page. Either:
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
The button in the upper left corner "Copy text to clipboard" will grab the configuration information from entire page.

My iPhone 3G phone button no longer works. If I push it I get a black screen for a few seconds then back to the home screen. Everything else is ok. Any ideas how to fix this?

The phone button on my iPhone 3G no longer works. Everything else on the iPhone works fine. I can receive incoming calls. I can make calls directly from Contacts. But if I press the phone button I get a blank white screen for a few seconds then it goes back to the home screen. I've tried the hard reset and also restoring orignall settings via iTunes but keep getting the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for the advice but I've tried resetting network settings and also the reset by pressing home and sleep buttons until getting the Apple logo. Still have the same problem. To be clear (because I mistakenly typed black instead of blank in the title to this thread): If I press the phone button I get a BLANK WHITE screen for a few seconds then it goes back to the home screen. I doubt it's the SIM card as I can receive calls and make them directly from contacts. What I can't do is view my favourite numbers or missed calls or access my voicemail, i.e. all the things you get to via pressing the phone button.

ARD no Screen Viewing, everything else working :-(

I have a Blue Light connection from ARD Admin to my 10.7.3 OS X Server and I can send unix commands, get reports, install software, etc
But, I cannot Observe or Control 'connect to server' and see the screen.
Ideas ? please :-)

I also upgraded the ARD client remotely, and Changed Client Settings via ARD Admin, a few times.
I made a new remote user too, but I never actually logged in an used it.
I have now rebooted 3 times now..

If it's like mine, I used another post's advice. Go to system preferences, then display and click on "mirror". Then in system preferences go to sound and click on "HDMI". I did this while I was connected to my Samsung TV and it worked then.

You can try resetting your iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

You have to restore and thus erase your iPod. that is how it works.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Photos

I have an Imac. When I click to open google maps a permeable but dark screen covers my monitor screen and I get a note that tells me to shut down the computer and restart it. This hasn't helped. Everything else seems to work fine.

When I attempt to open google maps in Firefox on my Imac, a dark screens descends over my monitor screen and a note tells me there's been an error, no number is noted, and that I need to turn off and restart my computer. This doesn't help, but everything else works, including google maps in other browsers.

This is a kernel panic.
First verify that Firefox is fully updated including all extensions.
If this fails to fix....
Restart in Safe Boot mode then open Firefox.
* shutdown
* start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
* after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
* keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
* now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
* eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
* login and open Firefox.

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Macbook Pro screen - Seeing double Blurry text everything else

Man....Something happened. I have a pretty much brand new 17 inch pro. I woke it up and now the text and everything else is blurry. when looking at text for example it's like there are two sets! This isn't just when using a specific application. This is everything, desktop icons, etc. I've restarted, zoom is off in universal access and my screen resolution is fine....what now?!?! HELP!

First it would help to have the complete information on on the size, OS and year on your computer the way Jprong posted.
Did either of you try resetting PRAM and SMC?

The update server is down; try this temporary workaround
App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

Facebook wont load but everything else does? can you fix this please?

For the past 2 days now when ever i try to log onto facebook it will not load the page. Everything else works just fine. Why is this and how can i fix this annoying problem so i can contact folks overseas?

Using Safari to access Facebook?
If so...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

I installed-enabled MS win media player firefox 1.0.0.8, i still did not get streaming, error box comes up and says 'stream load error', the 'windows media test' thing did not work, i tried iheart radio-no luck, so i disabled win media player plug-in dynamic link library 3.0.2629 and tested and still did not work, i also have plug ins: silverlight 5.0.61118.0 and quicktime 7.6.9 7.6.9.0 enabled. I don't know why all of the sudden i have a stream problem with firefox, yesterday, i tried on IE which i never use and had no problem with it. i will try to do more trouble shooting and see, its really frustrating, if can't figure out, i guess will have to revert back to IE which i really don't want to do, but---oh well. thx for help.
