Fixing display when connecting HP monitor to Macbook pro

Hi There, I'm trying to connect a HP Monitor to my macbook pro but the display on the HP monitor is all weird, any advice on how to fix? I'm using the screen adaptor that the apple store sold me, so not sure if another adopter is needed.

Hello, Framed Kanga.

  • Trouble connecting Dell monitor to macbook pro

I'm trying to hook a Dell u3011 to a 2011 macbook pro.  I've got a DisplayPort to MiniDisplayPort cable connected, as well as the USB cable, but the monitor gets no signal and displays a "No Displayport Cable" error message.  I've double-checked the connections and the input setting in the monitor's menu.  I'm not currently able to test either the HDMI or DVI connections because I lack the necessary cables/adapters.  Any ideas what's going on?

    Hi,
I am sure your problem must have been sorted out by now, but for all current and future buyers for the dell U2414H and having an apple computing device, mac, macbook, pro etc, the monitor works perfectly out of the box when I connected with a mini DP(thunderbolt port) to HDMI output (U2414H), it just ran out of the box, without any issues, it even worked simply for my bootcamp windows. So no need to fret before purchasing one, simply go ahead and get it, it's the Monitor with most appealing edge giving you only a screen to view at, I was also considering between the U2412M and the U2414H, I think I've made a great choice.

  • Connecting 4k monitor to Macbook Pro retina 2012 mid

I tried to connect to Macbook Pro retina 2012 mid 15 inch 2.7GHZ model. Initially I connected using HDMI to 3840x2160 at 30 hz. I casually changed the resolution to 1080 p from scaled option. Now I no more get the option of scaling to 4k. I am unsure what is the issue over it. When I log into my windows. I am able to log in with my original 4k resolution in 30 HZ. Any guidance would be really great.
    2) I read a few forums regarding 4k with 60hz external monitor connection for macbook pro retina 2012 mid. But I couldn't get a clear solution whether it is possible or not. Would be great if someone can show lights on this too.

1- does Apple ever do exchanges for newly released products?  I bought my MacBook in jan they came out with new in mar.
If you purchased the product from Apple, not a third party, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to return it for a refund or exchange.  You are well past that.
2- if and when Apple comes out with a 4k or 5k thunderbolt display, will it be backwards compatible with my MacBook sich that I can't get the resolutions and 60mhz?
I do not have an answer to that and the Terms of Use for these forums discourages from speculating what Apple may or may not do in the future.  Having said that, from a practical business standpoint, backwards compatibility would be a sensible approach.  It has been done so in many areas in the past.

  • How to connect two monitors using macbook pro?

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro through which I want to extend the displays to two individual monitors.
The two monitors should show two different windows which is opened through my macbook.
I have observed that macbook has only one mini display port through which I connect to HDMI or to DVI ports in monitor.
So how do I connect another monitor source to my macbook, which ports can help in this situation?
The monitors I have which can supports HDMI,DVI,VGA and DP ports.
Could anyone help me on this issue.
    Thanks.

You can use a USB 2.0/3.0 to HDMI/DVI interface.  You might also consder Thundebolt to HDMI/DVI.
The MBP 13" will support three screens (two external) and the MBP 15" will support four screen (three external).

  • Error when connect huawei e220 on macbook pro

any one can help me...does e220 compatible with macbook pro ?

I wrote a howto that applies to t-mobile in the UK however it can be adapted to be used with any provider. you just need to know your providers APN, dial string and username and password (a username and password is not always necessary)
I have the HUAWEI mobile E220.
Using the drivers that came with my T-mobile webnwalk pack it worked first time in leopard.
You can get the drivers from my dot mac space
    http://homepage.mac.com/timhaigh/E220_Drivers.zip
Once installed you can use the HuaweiDataCardApp to set your APN.
I don't require anyother 3rd party software to make the conneciton.
    I went to SystemPreferences-->Network-->Location -->Edit Locations
    click the +
I added HSDPA as my location name.
    Then I chose add configuration
    I called it 'T-Mobile'
I used *99# as the telephone number
my provider does not require me to use a username and password so I left that blank.
I checked 'show modem status in menubar'
    Then click Advanced.
    click the modem tab
    Vendor:Other
    Model: Huawi Mobile Connect
I have enabled error correction checked
Dial mode 'ignore dial when dialing'
    Then click the PPP tab
    Settings:configuration
    uncheck 'send PPP echopackets'
    Then click ok
    then Apply
Now to engage the connection I plug in the usb modem wait for the green or blue light to flash.
I goto the menubar modem icon and choose Connect HuawaiMobile
    This works.
Now to monitor my modem signal, usage etc I use cheetahwatch

    Good luck

  • Problem connecting external monitor to Macbook Pro

I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro and I can't attach my external monitor. When I go into displays arrangements does not appear. I am using LG w2753. My Macbook: Processor 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo,Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3,NVIDIA 9400m 256, Osx 10 0.7.5
I have tried all new cables and the monitor on another system.
    Any help would be appreciated.

What interface, and what cables and adapters are you using?
What is the resolution of the external display?

  • Proper way to connect external monitors to macbook pro?

I recently had to have the logic board in my mbp replaced and was wondering if disconnecting an external monitor while computer is on would cause the problem.
Should monitors be connected/disconnected with computer powered down?

If fact, the correct way to connect external displays is to have the MBP on, the external display on and seeking a signal, the external display cable connected to the DVI-to-VGA adapter (if necessary), and then connect to the MBP. So, the last connection is to the MBP, but everything is powered on. That way, the MBP autodetects the display.
Even if you don follow that procedure, connecting/disconnecting a cable from the DVI port would not do anything to your logic board.

  • Anyway I can connect 4 monitors to MacBook pro?

I already had a Tripohead2go which allow me connect 3 monitors, but I need to hook up one more display. Don't know what else I can do !

Are there anyone tried this option before?
    Mini Display Port --> TripleHead2Go --> 3 x monitors
    USB Port --> USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI --> 1 x monitor
So now totally 4 extra monitors. But I'm not sure if the image will be lag specially by the USB port. So please advice. Thanks !!

  • My external monitor will no longer stay on when connected to my '10 MacBook Pro.

When I plug it in, it comes on for about 5 seconds and turns off. I've tried two separate adapters and it just finds the monitor, it turns on, then it sleeps. . . permanently.
Something changed in the sytem a while back that allowed the system to choose the best resolution for the monitor. It seems like it stopped working after that.

Simplest thing to try is a PRAM reset.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

MBP Retina OS X Yosemite has distorted display when connected to Epson projector.  How do I fix this?

    Hello ATLawson,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the display, after connecting to a projector, does not have the image quality you would expect. There may be a few different troubleshooting steps I would recommend in this situation. To begin troubleshooting, I would suggest reading over and working through the information in the attached article.

  • Help Connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor.  I am not having a lot of luck.
    My machine:
    OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am trying to connect it using the:
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    DVD-D HDMI cable
YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual

    Here is what is happening.
    1. I connect the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter + HDMI Cable to Monitor
    2. Main monitor powers up like it is trying to display
    3. Laptop Monitor displays second part of desktop
    4. I can never get the Yamakasi to display a picture
Here is what I have tried:
    1. Different HDMI-D cables
    2. ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    3. Zapping the P-Ram
    4. Powering monitor with laptop closed
    5. Forcing the system to see the second monitor
    The nearest I can figure:
    - The laptop does see the catsleap (it displays resolutions I can set it to)
I am completely stumped, I was hoping someone could advise me.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hey Kytarx,
I found the winning combination this weekend.
    I tried:
    - Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    - ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    - Monoprice Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter
    My experience:
    - Altona didn't work at all, and their support claimed it would not.
    - Monoprice didn't work to Dual DVI, it did work to HDMI (great price I wish it did)
    - Apple Mini Displayport adapter did work, but would only work with certain USB + Display port combos.
The thing that was tripping me up was that two of the Dual DVI-D cords were bad.  Once I found the working cord, it was easier to find the working adapter.  The experience I did find to be a frustrating / expensive one. However, the Monitor itself is beautiful.
    Hopefully this helps someone else..
    Don

  • How to connect an external monitor to macbook pro. The monitor has no usb connector without a usb

How to connect an external monitor to macbook pro. The monitor has no usb connecter, only a port.

Most MacBook Pro models have a Mini DVI port, a Mini DisplayPort or a ThunderBolt port for connecting an external display. USB does not have enough bandwidth to support a responsive display connection.
What model MacBook Pro do you have, by year, CPU speed or MacBook Pro 3.1 designation?

You really have to mess with the resoluton, espescially the refresh rate, as it varies from projector to projector, monitor to monitor. Even within the same brand! Because so many manufacturers are trying so many different things to become the next cool kid on the block, and the way the formats are being configured that's now part of the game.
That's why so many professionally produced corporate shows hire a dedicated projectionist for the video presentations. Too many bugs in the honey.
Refresh & sesolution are the first things to look at.
Just so you know that colors in PowerPoint PC, and PowerPoint Mac, don't exactly match... go figure.
I forgot to mention another thing, sometimes it's the projector that needs to be tweaked.
