Fixing duplicate database entries for the same audio file

My iTunes Media folder is stored on a network accessible storage server. Since upgrading to 11.1.x, my computer seems to be duplicating database entries for the same audio files - for some albums, I have 4 entries for every song, each one pointing to the exact same file. The only difference between entries is rating info and play counts, which are specific to a particular entry (I think). Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is there an obvious way to stop this from happening? I can delete and rebuild the database from media files, but that starts getting old if I have to do it every week or so. Is there a script to delete duplicate database entries? (I found a VB script on the iTunes for Windows community, but the offending machine is a Mac).

They are all different. Hover your mouse pointer over each of the "Content Type" descriptions and you should see a "tooltip" to see that each has a different description.

Duplicate reminder emails for the same event

Some of my users are experiencing duplicate reminder emails for the same event. These duplicates have the same bodies, different message-id headers and posted at exactly the same time.
Has anybody seen this sort of behavior and know a fix.

We had the same problem. At us I noticed the start/stop from the server went wrong. There were double processes running from the server. You should have 1 admin process, 1 notify process, 1 enpd process and (same as your cpu count) httpd processes.
When the other ones are more then 1, restart the system.
This receiving double e-mail reminder problem, you will only find at people who have AND event notifications on AND event & task reminders on! People who don't have BOTH activated, don't receive double reminders.
Also watchout that your test calendar system can't send e-mail notifications to your production users. But this you can see by reading the headers from the e-mail .. the system where it comes from is then different.

Multiple entries for the same company.

Anybody out there have any idea how to enter multiple entries for the same company in Mail without having to enter all information every time for each individual. This was a very basic feature in MS Outlook. Possibly a workaround if not an option within Mail? Thanks.

Select a card with the details on it, and Edit/Copy /Edit/Paste (Command-C Command-V). Now edit one of the cards with the new individual's details. If starting from scratch, create a company card with no personal information and duplicate it as needed.

Outlook-2 different entries for the same person (but not the same email)

i was asked to switch from outlook 2007 to outlook 2013 as a trial.
For some reason, I get two different entries for the same person (but not the same email), one which is the name as normal and one where the name has ' around it. In the below example:
I have 24 emails sent to Ciaran and then a further 14 sent to 'Ciaran'
The email address for both is exactly the same and it does not seem to matter if I create a new email or reply to an incoming one.
I switched back to Outlook 2007 and the issue is still the same.
any suggestions?

I would say that there is no way to prevent Outlook from doing it, it dependents on how the sender formatted the sending address, not the recipient who replies.
To fix this:
Open the message and double click the address and view source
Just replace the generated Display As with the Display As you want

Using addresses, can you print duplicate mailing labels for the same address

using my address book, can I print duplicate mailing labels for the same name and address.

I checked the Address Book Print Dialog and I did not see the option to duplicate a single label.
The only thing you could try is to select the name in your list. Then do Command-P to print which should get you to this dialog box:
Try changing the # of copies and see if that does what you want. Otherwise I'm not sure and your answer may best be found in the Address Book forum on here.
You may not want to incue the expense but Microsoft Word will do what you want.

That is a quirk of Pagesthat it applies only one record per page.

Using The Same Audio Files On Multiple Platforms

When I import new audio into logic - often it will say that is creating wave forms for the display.
Q: I notice that the audio files on disk do not show an altered modified date - so where are these wave form displays being saved - on the audio file or inside the logic song?
Q: I am interested in possibly going back and forth between logic and Pro tools LE - and at different times using the same audio files for both platforms. Assuming I am not doing any destructive editing - is it OK to use the same set of files for both platforms - or do I need to make duplicates (I'd rather not)? Also, how does this wave form display get dealt with by going back and forth between the two platforms?

Hmmm... I've wondererd about this, too, and as best I can tell, Logic DOES modify the original files.
I just imported some stereo interleaved AIF files into a project (with "copy external audio files to project folder" disabled), and I couldn't see any evidence of waveform creation--a disk search by date revealed nothing looking like waveform overviews, and there were no modifications to the AIF file dates.
So... the next time I imported some AIF files, I checked the file sizes before the import...
Sure enough, the files got bigger by about 100K after being imported into a Logic session, even though the file's timestamps were not changed.
Looks like maybe Logic does write the waveforms into the files themselves ?
On a related note, the manual suggests that it's possible to change the "copy external audio files to project folder" setting after creating a project, but I haven't found this anywhere other than File->New... anyone know ?

Different SBA DNS SRV entry for the same dns zone?

I got here a testlab with one enterprise pool and one sba deployed. The Branch Site got also an DNS Server installed. Both are using the same dns zone "test.com".
Of course now i got different server for the same SRV Record _sipinternaltls._tcp.test.com - one for autodiscovery in the enterprise pool and one for the sba. Also I want to add the second one as failover srv + the DNS Server in the Enterprise Pool should
be used as a Forwarder.
Now I got some issues how to deploy several entries on two different dns server for the same zone.
1.) If I add manually the same zone + DNS SRV entries on the SBA the dns is somehow not resolving/forwarding the entries on the other dns server in ee to other servers which are not on my SBA dns.
2.) If I only pinpoint the SRV entries for _sipinternaltls._tcp.test.com (one for sba and failover for ee site) the dns won't resolve the second a record to the enterprise pool.
What is the Best Practise for DNS SBA? Always point to the enterprise pool and, therefore, no other configuration is needed?

I played a little bit around. Problem was that I can not add the pinpoint dns srv entries via gui. Aditionally the tutorials did not work as my DNS server for SBA is not on a domain controller. In the end I did this:

Question is if that is a good best proctise or should the dns server within a zone contain the same records (Primary/Backup). The Client will then always hit the FE of the EE Pool first.
Also its quite a lot of work to setup.

Business is doing stock transfer transaction. Here with reference to stock transfer PO when business is doing Goods Issue.
here there is two stock transfer PO. in one PO there is two line items for the same material. in the second PO again same material with two line items.
but at the tme of Goods issue it is showing two seperate line for same material stock account credit in accounting document. but in the other Goods issue with reference to second PO it is showing only one line for inventory account credit in the accounting dcoument.
so pl. guide me on this.

Acessing my outlook calendar over web and if i have many entries for the same hour FF only shows up to 6 entries and IE shows them all...why?

In my companie we use firefox and we access outlook calendar from the web but every time we have more than 5 or6 entries at the same hour FF doesn't show them all.

When I add a bookmark, I get hundreds of multiple entries for the same bookmark in the recently added bookmark folder and bookmark tab. Fix?

Adding a bookmark results in 100's of entries for that bookmark on the bookmark tab and in the recently added bookmark folder. The only way to remove them is to click and delete each separate entry? Any idea of what's going on or how to fix it? Thanks.

Note that it is always best to disconnect from Sync while performing maintenance to the places.sqlite file or otherwise do repairing efforts from within Firefox.

Using the facial squares in my organizer, I identified and entered all the people from my images into the people category. Upon completion I realized that I had two Marys (not her real name). How can I remove one of these and reenter them under the other entry for Mary?

When importing my address book from Outlook why do I have multiple entries for the same contact?

I have an address book and it contains one list in Outlook. I just downloaded Thunderbird and imported my address book. The address book and one list imported very easily but there are anywhere from 3-5 entries for each person in my contacts. If I delete the extras they are removed from my list as well. Why are there multiple listings for each contact and how can I remove the duplicates without losing my list entries?

Depends on where you saw them - If they were in the iPhoto library iPHoto has either two or three different versions (no duplicates) or each photos in its library - this is not optional and can not be changed -- If they were not in the iPhoto library then you can do what you please with them and they have nothing to do with iPhoto - iPhoto is only involved with the photos in its library

Very simple - if you do you will destroy your iPhoto library and have to start over losing all work you have done in iPhoto - The iPHoto library is a SQLite database and there are NO user servicable parts in the iPhoto library and any changes made using teh finder will corrupt the database and cause dataloss

Multiple entries for the same genre in iPod, but iTunes is fine

In the Genre list in my iPod, there are several copies of a few genres -- for example, there are like 4 or 5 "Dance" entries under Genres.
Each duplicate genre contains the same songs, and the total number of songs in my iPod matches iTunes. So why there are there multiple Genre entries, and how can I get rid of them?

A spelling or punctuation mistake, or sometimes a trailing space usually causes this after the artists and/or song/genre name, which fools the iPod into thinking that there are two different artists or songs/genres. The trailing space is the hardest to spot.
Best way to cure this is to go into iTunes, highlight that artist and/or songs, right click on them and select "get info".
This brings up the multiple song info window. If you see the "artist" field (or in your case, the genre field) is left blank, then there is a discrepancy with that name.
So to correct this, in the artist or song box retype the name, as you would like it, and then click ok. You should do this even if no mistakes are immediately visible.
Re sync this new artist/song info to your iPod.
