Fla / flv

Hi All:
What are the differences between .fla & .flv?
Can I export .fla from Premiere CS4?  I don't see this option in the Adobe Media Encoder...
Can I export Premiere CS4 file as swf?
   Thanks,
   Franco

.fla is the project file format of a flash project.  So, no you cant export an fla
.swf cannot be exported from Pr.  and fla can be played by a swf typicall y made by a web tool.
Edit: Jim; we posted at the same time.  I never seen an Fla audio file, but i believe you.  I know FLA is the project file ext of flash projects also.

  • What am I doing wrong? flv not found on server!?

I really need some help please!
Here is a step by step of what I've done:
Created a folder on my desktop. Copied .mov to this folder.
Created a new flash file (Actionscript 3.0, CS3). Saved into same
folder on desktop. Used Import Video to import .mov file
(Progressive download, etc). Video imported fine. I tested the
movie and all looks good. So then I published. I checked out the
publish previews and all look good!
So next I took my folder from my dekstop and all it's
contents (.mov, .fla, .flv, .swf, skin.swf, .html, and .js) and
uploaded to my ftp. When I go to the site nothing shows up and it
says there was one error opening the page. So then I looked at the
activity and it says the .flv is not found. But I checked AGAIN and
the .flv is in the same folder as the rest of my files.
Am I missing a step? I am very new to flash and I can't
figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help? Should I be
    posting this in another forum?
    Thanks!

Check with your hosting provider to make sure their MIME type
is set to display the FLV format.

  • 'Classic' textfield in CS5 - no margins on published swf

I've got numerous static textfields containing formatted text that I have formatted in the IDE. Some paragraphs within the textfield have margins, some don't. In the IDE, all looks great. However, when published the tf seems to have a constant margin. Anyone know anyway round this without resorting to many textfields / dynamic text?

  • Flash 8 player components not exporting

I'm using Macromedia Flash 8 to create a player for my video. Everything worked out fine after I'd encoded it, and the player looked great in preview. All the components were in the same folder, eg. fla, flv, swf, html. However, once I'd exported the player to my Dreamweaver website directory, along with the components and inserted the flash onto my page, the player control panel wasn't there?
I've been over it repeatedly, and I'm sure I did everything right, even re-encoding various video formats, but still no player controls, even though it works fine outside my website?
    Can anyone please help?

I don't know if this is a problem with Flash or Dreamweaver; please post in either of these forums (this is the Flash Player forum).

  • Posting a Flash Video in DW

    Hi All,
I have converted a windows media video to Flash, but I'm not sure how to add it to my DW page as well as keep the resolution. Can someone please tell me the difference between .fla / .flv / .swf and let me know which I am to use within Dreamweaver?
    Thanks,
    Luna13

Sure – first, a .fla file is a file you are developing in Flash – this isn’t a file you import into your html (it sounds as though you don’t have the flash program anyway… so no need to worry about this format). The .swf format is what you export from the flash program to import into an html page – no need to worry about this one either if you don’t have the Flash program.
A flash video (.flv) sounds like the format you exported form your video program and want to import into your Dreamweaver page.
The resolution is determined by your video program on export – you don’t have any control of this in Dreamweaver (except the pixel dimensions), so you may need to experiment with a few options to get a good enough visual quality that doesn’t become too large to stream efficiently…
To import and test on your page, go up to your top menu under “Insert” and select “Media”, then “.flv” – it will open up a dialog box that will offer you options for the import, etc. If you’re not sure about settings to choose, go to your help menu and there are several references for importing .flv…
    Hope that helps!

  • Saving files out as mpeg

Hi, A colleague of mine has Adobe Media Encoder CS4 for Windows and has all these options available forsaving out in mpg format but when I go to my menu all I see is FLA/FLV formats. is there a place on some CDS or something that allows for additonal plugins to be installed? Please advise, thank you.

we had better check to see if it's all videos that aren't converting with sound (when you do the conversion), or just the specific ones you've been converting. this document should be of some help with that:

  • Importing a Flash Video created from a DVD file into a presentation

We have a DVD recording that we converted to various formats, including SWF, AVI and FLA/FLV.  We want to use our LMS to track who has watched the video so we hoped to use a Capitvate Presentation and the SCORM feature.  I created a new presentation and used the Insert Flash Video feature.  The Flash object appears on the screen but it won't play neither after publishing nor will it preview in Browser.  I can play it in a plain HTML file, so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem wth the FLV file itself.  I also tried using the Insert Animation with the SWF version and it just hangs up Captivate and still nothing happens.  Clearly I am missing some critical step for importing video and while I've scoured the forum, I just can't seem to find a solution.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

What version of Captivate are you using ?

  • Exporting from Flash cs4

I should know this i suppose but is it possible to export a flash animation (fla/flv) and make it into a quicktime movie that works???
I know its possible, sort of because i did it but the quicktime was really stretched out and didnt work great. There were no settings or preview of what the output was going to look like so it was a mess.
Anyone know how? if its possible?

Best method would be screen recording software.
    I use SnapzX.

  • Exporting video from Flash to web

I've created a very short video, imported successfully to
flash, exported the .fla, .flv. .swf. skins file, .js file and the
.html file and whilst the video runs fine in Dreamweaver no matter
what I do I can't get it to run on the web all that shows up in the
exported Html file is the skin. Help please.

I thought I hit the solved button twice! In fact his solution worked for one or two flash players but you tube was not able to accept the file and Smart Notebook which I use extensively could not use the file in that format either so I still have a problem. I have Adobe flash converter but it wants to take 5 1/2 hours to convert a 6 minute video into flv format. FCE just crashes if you try to export the video to flv format. It converts the opening live type clip but then hangs up and beach balls. I wonder if it is the hi def video that is the problem. Anyway anybody else have a possible solution?

I have Flash Player 10 on my work computer and i need to edit some files that are step by step learning tools. What software do I require to edit??

To edit FLA, FLV or SWF files, you need Flash Professional (http://www.adobe.com/products/flash.html)

  • Movies show locally but not on web

The symptom: I'm not able to get a swf to show or play in an
html page on a web server. The html page shows blank (though right
clicking confirms there's an invisible swf on the page).
I followed the well written Adobe Design Center tutorial at
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/tutorials/videoencoderwizard/
(explicitly, and dozens of times) With each iteration, I first
cleared out the files on my local drive and webserver and started
    fresh.
    The process followed was:
    1. Created a fla in Flash 8
    2. Imported a MWV movie to the stage, following the
parameters of the tutorial, and saved it as a FLA, FLV, swf skin,
and swf movie to a single folder on my PC.
    3. Created a blank html page in Dreamweaver 8. Inserted a
Flash Video in the page. In the "Insert Flash Video" dialog box I
    set the following:
-Video type = Progressive Download Video; URL pointed to FLV
file; Skin set to "Clear Skin 1"; Width 250
    4. FTP'd one folder containing all files to the website:
html, flv file, swf video, Clear_Skin_1.swf,
ClearExternalPlayMute.swf (this is the control skin I set in Flash,
but it wasn't available in the dropdown of the "Insert Flash Video"
dialog box in Dreamweaver so I picked Clear_Skin_1.swf),
    5. called up the url in several browsers: IE 6.0.2, IE 7,
Firefox 2.0 - all with same result: blank white screen.
Any ideas/suggestions will be much appreciated by me - and
probably others here too. Tell me I'm not the only one experiencing
    this!
    Best,
    Steve

Was able to resolve this with the help of Adobe Technical
Support. For those coming after me, here's the Fix:
This issue is caused by a MIME setting in Windows 2003 web
    server.
    Reason:
With IIS 6.0, Microsoft changed the way streaming media is
handled. Previous versions of IIS did not require any modification
to stream Flash Video. Microsoft IIS 6.0, the default web server
that ships with Windows 2003, requires a MIME type to recognize
that FLV files are streamed media.
    Solution can be found here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19439
Note: I tested my video on a Linux server and it worked fine:

    Hi
Its just when using one of the skins when i have the problem?
This is normal, you can use the flash skins in a flv exported from flash as a 'stand-alone' flash page, but they will not work when you try to use them as a skin in dreamweaver. There is a way around this limitation, but it does involve a fair amount of reprogramming of the flash skin as the components used are different to what is required for use in dreamweaver.
This article may help you in doing this - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flv_tutorial_pt2.html. Especially when read in conjunction with - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/custom_flvcomp.html.
Should you have any problems following these articles, you may be better advised posting them in the flash forum, in this forum I have only read of a few people, (including myself) who have customized/created skins themselves, but I will leave this choice up to you.

  • Probleme Video Flash

    Bonjour,
J'aimerai surtout savoir comment insérer l'animation

Flash itself is not supported on the iPad. Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

  • FLVs dropped into existing .fla files?

We are working with a set of old files, first developed in
Flash 4 or 5. They contain text, audio, and embedded QT video, and
they were published as .mov files. We've converted the videos to
.flv files and now we need to link to the .flv files, using
progressive download, and keeping all the text and audio the same.
I've looked at every tutorial everywhere and cannot find one
that shows a combination of video plus text and audio. I can get
    the FLVPlayback to work
if I have nothing else in the file, and
if I leave all the frames left from the original audio and
put the video where the original .mov file was.
Otherwise, the movie doesn't play. The path is correct.
Actually, I just tested one where I removed the original .mov
and replaced it with the FLVPlayback, and this one didn't work
    either.
This is my 2nd request for help. I hope I've stated the
problem clearly enough that someone will say aha! and give me the
    solution. I am highly frustrated.
    Thanks.

That's not quite it. The old mov files contained embedded
video files in .mov format. I've converted the original videos from
.mov to .flv files, no problem. Now I basically want to replace the
embedded .mov file in the .fla file with a linked .flv file. What
    I'm doing:
    1. Open the old .fla file, convert to Flash 8.
    2. Select the embedded .mov file (the video), note the
    coordinates, and delete it.
    3. File->Import Video. Select Progressive download, locate
the .flv file, and get the FLVPlayback component into the same
keyframe and coordinates where the original .mov file was.
    4. Check the parameters for the FLVPlayback - path is correct
(same folder as .swf and .fla).
    5. Publish - No video plays.
If you can help me with this I will be deeply, deeply
    grateful.
