  • How Can I Create a Menu Link?

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any tips and assistance you are able to provide!
I have very basic working knowledge of Flash and this is the first web project that I have worked on.  I have a free Flash template that I have been playing around with that contains a Flash menu.
Because I cannot attach either the FLA or SWF to this thread I have posted them here:
    Menu.fla: http://www.jduguid.com/webdesign/menu.fla
    Menu.swf: http://www.jduguid.com/webdesign/menu.swf
My question is simple, how and where, do I edit or add the commands that will load the pages of the same name when the animated button is clicked?
Thanks again in advance for your assistance!
    -Jeff

It seems like where ever I try and add the code:
    on (release)
    getURL("yourPage.html", "_self");
in the Actions frame I get this error when publishing: Mouse events are
    permitted only for button instances.
Am I working in the right area under the symbol definitions or how do I find
    the button instance?
    Thanks!

  • Build 10061 - Start Menu not opening programs other than Modern UI applications

When I attempt to open a program via the start menu absolutely nothing happens, unless I am attempting to open a Modern UI app.  I've tried deleting the shortcut and "re-pinning" it to the start menu and it still does not work.  Any
    ideas?

Assuming you are using build 10061.
Will it work if you right click at the program shortcut > select Run As Admin ?
    excerpt from Insider Hub:
Here are some known issues for this build
We know this one will be a bit painful but there is a bug with this build in which Win32 (desktop) apps won’t launch from the Start menu. The workaround is to use search to find and launch these apps and pin them to your taskbar for quick access.

  • Slowness of fla files

Hi all. A problem i have been getting really now only when i
switched to mac enviroment is that
some of my flas take absolutely ages when i test them. Seems
like when i make any simple change within the fla file itself that
i have to wait ages and the little mac pizza thing turns and turns.
Is it possible that this has to do with the fact that i do not have
Extensis suitcase on my mac. So im thinking could this whole
"slowness" thing have to do with too many active fonts on my
computer I dunno. I have been meaning to get Suitcase now for
awhile. I also have quite abit of stuff that has accumulated in
afew flash documents into the library. And this i think really
seems to slow down things down too. So wonder what could be the
cause of this? As my mac does have power.
One other thing i would like to know is symbol conflicts. I
have a bad habit of not naming symbols, clips etc.
I may utilize old elements from old files and so on,
sometimes lots of symbols and then i encounter symbol conflicts and
end up having to painstakingly rename sometimes even hundreds of
symbols in the library. Is there some kind of quick way to do this.
As if you click the "do not replace" option then some of the stuff
gets left out and is not pasted to your file when copied.
    Many thanks for your help.

I cant answer the mac issue - it has always been reported
that macs seem to have performance issues
when it comes to flash through the years - may not be true
    for the latest macs.
as for library items - unfortunately, when combining 2 or
more flash docs, symbols that share the
same name have to be manually located and renamed - then copy
again and paste again. Flash will only
prompt you of the danger of overrighting symbols and only
asks you yes or no prompt. It doesn't list
the offending symbol names or (what would really be good)
allow you to append a prefix (like "copy
of...") to the offending names. It's been added to the wish
list but don't know for sure if it will
be a feature that gets added.

  • Images not appearing when publishing on web

    Hi,
I have created a Flash object which uses an xml to read the image path and few other attributes. I could successfully generate the swf and publish (html) the object.
When I view menu.html, independently in a browser it works fine. However, when I embed this, generated html (menu.html), in the home page of another website(homepage.html), it breaks. The images are not displayed.
All of the templates - config.xml, menu.fla, menu.swf, menu.html & homepage.html (of the other website) are all in the same folder.
    Any suggestion.
    Regards,
    zona

Hey, I could make the images appear now....
The xml was passing absolute path. So when I generated the html from Flash (file/publish) and opened this html in a browser it was working file. However, when this html was embeded in another html it broke.
Using Relative path, in the xml works.
Now the images are taking 2 - 3 seconds to load. It is slow. Is there any way (in Flash) to cache the images once they are loaded for the first time.
    Any suggestions.

  • How to install photoshop elements 2 on win7 64bit?

win7 home premium  300gb hdd with 230 gb space left, turnef off virus scanner first, waited 1/2 hr, didn't work.
The link to which I referred you to pointed out the versions of Windows 7 which supported use of Windows XP Mode. The home premium is not one of them. So, my check list at this time should not be pursued under those circumstances.
Do you have any opportunity to upgrade your Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional?
Windows 8 is not going to be an out since the Windows XP Mode is a Windows 7 perk for just selected editions of 7.
Later tonight I am going to try to install Photoshop Elements 2 on Windows 8.1 64 bit and see what happens. I was able to get Photoshop Elements 3 installed there.
    More later.

  • Problems with a pop-up in Dreamweaver

    Hi,
I have a website with an introduction that I called, of course, index.html and it opens a pop-up of 718 width and 503 height, index2.html. I did it in the behaviours section of DW with an image and in my version of Safari (5.0.6) there is no problem. However if I change the browser (Chrome, IE, Firefox or Opera and recently versions of Safari) it appears with a blank space at the bottom of the pop-up. I tried to solve this error by changing the height of the window and it results ok in other versions of Safari but in my version has a problem of visualization. Please, Can you help me?.
This is the script that I have:
    function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0

And here is the html code:
    onclick="window.open('index2.htm','viewReport','width=718,height=503,scrollbars=no,resiza ble=no')"

  • Sharing movies after re-installing iMovie 5

Gratefully found you guys the other day as crisis unfolded. Realised from reading here that problem with editing my movie was iLife '06. I'd installed it mid-project as well. Slapped wrist, lesson learned. Followed recipe to re-install 5. Went well. Then found another post to solve my stereo-to-mono issues on the movie. But couldn't send movie to Garageband without iLife '06. Re-installed it to try (i know, i know, I'm learning.) Definitely not good. So ducked out and decided to go back to iMovie 5, re-installed from CD. Movie finished, I go to export/share it to Video Camera. It won't share. With anything. From the Maxtor or the desktop. It'll burn a DVD when I go to iDVD within the iMovie programme. But if I click the Share tab in the menu, absolutely nothing at all happens.

    Matt,
We must be operating in parallel universes. Did same thing this week. However, I had a little bit better luck-sort of. iMovie kicked out a staggering and fragmented version of my project when I tried to share it with my camera. Totally unuseable.
What's more, it didn't respond to simple start or stop commands.
After a long conversation with an Apple online genius, it all boiled down to this. iMovie 6 with the qurtz effects is generaly too much for the G4 to handle. He recommended shorter projects and to forget trying to share to mini DV.
As for Garage band. That was a dismal failure. I'll stick with creating tracks separately and then adding it to the movie project without GB's scoring feature. It's a nice idea but it's not working with my G4.

  • Repair Flickr tool in iPhoto 09

Awhile back, I was getting frustrated with the Flickr upload tool in iPhoto 09 and deleted it by following the advice of someone in the forums. I think I deleted a .plist file or something like that, but honestly, I can't remember.
Right now, there is no Flickr logo in the bottom right corner, and when I click on Share > Flickr in the menu, absolutely nothing happens.
I would like to repair this link between iPhoto and Flickr, if possible. Is it possible?

1 - I did not see any post here from anyone advising anyone on deleting the flickr upload tool
2 - deleting the plist will not delete the flickr tool
3 - You can turn it on and off (not delete it) by going to the view menu ==> show in toolbar and checking it (or un-checking it)
4 - if you have deleted the tool and can not tell us what you did then reinstalling iPhoto is your only choice - to reinstall delete the iPhoto application and the iPhoto receipts ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts ==> ) and reinstall from the original disks - the restore disks that came with your computer doing a custom install of bundled software only or from the upgrade disks that you purchased if you have purchased an iLife upgrade

  • Skin Smoothing:How does it work?.

I am trying to use skin smoothing for the first time. After following the simple instructions in the Aperture help menu absolutely nothing happened. I am assuming you use it the same way as the retouch brush (which still works fine), that is, either left-clicking the cursor over a spot blemish or dragging the cursor over a line blemish.
When I select the skin smoothing brush and try this I get nothing happening.
In the Skin Smoothing HUD I also tried "apply. to entire photo" , this worked fine but was too strong an effect (the whole photo looked blurred).
Obviously I'm doing something wrong with the SS brush but I can't work out what.

I sweep the brush over the area rather than clicking it on a spot -- though I have a tablet, if you have a mouse you'd hold the left button while sweeping the area.
Select a good image to test this -- a portrait or, even better, a full-frame head shot. The image should be sharp enough that you can clearly see skin detail (e.g. if zoomed to full size you should easily be able to see skin pores.) If focus isn't sharp then you may not notice much of an effect.
When you activate this mode, a HUD should appear with some settings. In the upper-left corner of the HUD are the familiar brush, feather, and eraser icons. Make sure the brush is selected (otherwise it would explain why you don't see any effect.) To make the adjustment obvious, set the strength slider to max (1). There's a gear-icon in the upper-right corner of the HUD. Click that to expose a additional options. Make sure the brush range is set to 'All' (just in case the range of the area you test is outside the range you want to be sure it adjust anyway.)
Hold the left-mouse button while sweeping it across an area of skin where you can see visible texture (usually skin pores) and you should notice these diminish (with the strength cranked up to max they'll probably completely disappear. In practice you'd want to avoid turning the skin of your models into something that resembles the plastic texture of a Barbie Doll.)
    The change should be obvious.
If you click the gear-icon again and select the 'color overlay' option it should look like you took a can of red spray-paint to the image to make it completely obvious where you've retouched.

  • Spry Menu Bar disappears absolute position

Hello all this is my first time posting on this site so bear with me. I have a semi-transperant spry menu bar that i inserted into the header div, over an image. I moved the menu bar -38px, when the position is set to relative the menu bar is visible, however the old position of the menu bar has a blank white space there. I think this is due to the relative position property. When i change it to absolute the whole menu bar disappears? http://www.brightlikethesun.com/index2.html (the position is back to relative to show the menu bar and also background for header is blue to show the space)

/* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

<p><img src="BLTS2.jpg" alt="BLTS" width="411" height="297" align="left" /><img src="BLTS font.jpg" width="340" /> is a Post-Rock band from San Antonio. They were born in early 2012 from the collective desire to make beautiful, thought provoking, and at times, chaotic music. Much like fellow Texan bands like Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You, they are entirely instrumental, and known for creating progressively intricate waves of ambiance that grow with intensity and an unabashed wash of emotion. Attuned to their affinity for dynamics, seeing them live takes the listener from deafening walls of orchestrated sound, to melodies so subtle that one finds themselves acutely aware of their own breathing. <br />
Bright Like The Sun&rsquo;s debut album, Coda Fin, was engineered/mixed by Alex Bhore (of This Will Destroy You), and mastered by TW Walsh (of Pedro The Lion). The record, which was self released, was made available on April 12, 2013.<br /><br /><img src="BLTS3.jpg" width="330" height="245" align="right" /></p>

    What I see:
You need a width on the ul.MenuBarVertical style. Make it the same width as the ul.MenuBarVertical li selector.
Remove the float: none; from this style:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul li
         width: 12em;
         float: none;
No such measurement as a half a pixel:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul
         border: .5px solid #CCC;
If you want a border, 1px is minimum...you repeat this incorrect half-pixel in several places.
Running your page through the W3C Validator returned this: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.healthydirections.ca%2F&charset=%28dete ct+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
Your initial errors are not declaring a DOCTYPE, which among other things, does not provide the browser with any information regarding how you want the code interpreted for your viewer. Some browsers guess well, some do not (IE).
    This
         <html>
    is insufficient.
Apply this in its place, and run through the validator again.

  • Basic question on how to change menu text in this FLA file

I am kind of new to Flash and I am just a bit stuck on where
I am suppose to edit the menu text in the flash file I purchased
    (link below).
I can see where to edit the hyperlinks in the action script

    Hello IawaGuy:
Thanks for getting back to me. I've been really having a
problem with this flash header. Being new to some of these programs
doesn't help much. It's been a learning curve for me. I used a
program called Flash Decompiler Trillix to convert the swf to fla.
and converting the symbols as text so that I could edit them. It
turned out that the text that came up was a jumble of letters which
I had to decifer. I was finally able to change the all the text to
what they were supposed to be. After I exported it back into the
website in Dreamweaver the links on the drop down menus didn't
    work.
It's as if the layers aren't connected in some way. The main
links work but I can't access the drop down part which also contain
links as well. I hope you can help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Glenn

  • Can't find menu buttons in FLA file...help!

I haven't worked with Flash in a while. I agreed to work on a friend's template before realizing it contains a Flash menu which needs to be changed. I opened the file using my Flash CS4 but I don't see the menu buttons at all. They do show up when I play the movie (SWF) file but not in the FLA file. Nothing is hidden. There is a layer for the menu with nothing on it.
I'd like to modify the menu that can be seen when the SWF file plays. Am I missing something? Why am I not seen the menu buttons?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Carol

If you right click on one of the buttons in the library, and then select Linkage in the menu that appears, is there a checkmark where it says Export for Actionscript with a class or ID specified for the button?  IF so, you may need to look thru the actionscript to see if you can isolate code that involves the buttons.
Otherwise, if the Export for Actionscript is not selected, then the buttons are most likely inside some other symbol, which you could probably find in the library as well.

  • Spry Menu Bar killed by absolute/relative positioning

I have a Spry Menu Bar that works beautifully on most pages
of my site, but it does not function at all – not even the
    top-level links – on

If I comment out the link to the CSS file, the menu bar works

the CSS file, the menu bar functions as usual – but I want my

I have tried giving the other elements a lower z-index, and a
higher z-index, but this did not help. Any ideas?
