FLA or SWF to HTML5 Conversion

I am trying to figure out the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).
So far, I have decided Flash CS6 with the CreativeJS Toolkit is the route to go.
Someone (at Adobe) mentioned Dreamweaver CS5.5 can do it (convert the FLA or SWF to HTML5).
I have not found this to be true.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me?

hey, chadXSO
I want to know that have you ever resolved your problem, and I believe that you have done!
Could you tell me which tool that you used? Now I have the same problem(the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).), and someone asked me to convert swf files to html5 video, so i found this tool-swf to html5 movie maker, but i don't know how to use it, and can you tell me the tool you use? or you could tell me how to use this tool for our same question.

  • Flash Pro CS6 to HTML5 Conversion

I purchased Flash Pro CS6 yesterday and it does not convert my Flash file to HTML5 Correctly.  It converts everything except the Action Script.  I have contacted Tech Support and they have escalted the issue, but they are telling up to 96 hours.
    The website is www.davidhornbrook.com
When I try to convert that page (the FLA file) it converts the bottom part, his logo, and the david dropping down the side.
It does NOT convert the top menu items OR hte drop shadow behind the logo (which is all Action Script3).
    Can someone help me?
I have the FLA files thast I can send to you / post if that helps.
BTW when I convert it to SWF it works fine, just not when I export it to HTML5.

    Hello ChadXSO,
The 'Help' offered to you so far has been, as far as I can tell, no help at all.
I've been ploughing through an old .fla trying to make a conversion.
    Nothing complex, no animations.
6 hours later, I've part of it running, not working, just not crashing.
It's all script, so if CreateJS doesn't convert Action Script it's producing a very good pretense of doing so. The converter does appear to be looking at the AS, since if I change the AS the output changes.
However, I have to edit the js, every time I publish, to prevent the HTML from looping. From time to time it throws a Line 77 error, claiming that there is an undefined .str in a non-existant .jsfl file (non-existant in that Windows can't find the file).
I produce technical anims for my students in Flash so I'm none too pleased for the option for them to view them on-line to be taken away.
Unless Adobe produces a working conversion tool 10 years of my work is going down the toilet. There will be thousands(?) of .swf creators in the same position.
If CreateJS is the best Adobe can manage, at this rate, I won't live long enough to convert a single .fla.

  • How do you remove Playback Controls on iPad after HTML5 conversion?

If you turn off the Playback Control in the Skin Editor in CP5.5, it vanishes from the SWF correctly, but still appears on the iPad after HTML5 conversion. Any way to remove it from iPad?

Have a look at this blog post, scroll down and you'll find the way to hide the playbar:

  • How to publish for both swf and html5

I have a course that I need to publish for swf and html5, and have the system automatically detect which browser the user has.  Can someone help me figure out how to do this?  I am not a very technical user.  I am using Captivate 6.  Thanks

You just have to check both SWF and HTML when publishing. Load up everything to a server. Have a look at this video, some more in the same channel:

  • Standalone FLA or SWF

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am new to Flash. I
want users to be able to click a link on my website and have that
link open a Flash movie in a separate window in the Flash Player.
However, I have about 50 movies (about 2 minutes each) to load and
I am trying to figure out how to link to each movie by loading only
one swf or fla file. I have noticed in all the Flash info I have
read that Flash publishing produces several files - html, js, fla,
a swf of the movie, and a swf of the player, for each published
movie, and that all of these files must be uploaded in a folder on
the server in order to play.
I am trying to find a way to upload just one file (swf or
fla) so that I don't have to create a new folder for every movie
and don't have to load other files. I can't embed the files because
each movie is about 2 minutes and there's sync issues when it's
    embedded.
I have seen many websites that play standalone swf files but
I can't seem to figure out what must be uploaded, and how to
configure that file, to make it play without loading all the
    individual files in a folder.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Not in Captivate.
If this is a movie file, there is a Full Motion Recording
    editor you can
    download from Adobe
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/fmr_editor.html.
    This lets
you edit full motion recordings made in Captivate.
Otherwise, you need to use Flash to edit your Flash files.

  • Can we convert .swf to HTML5 using Captivate ?

    Hi All,
I want to know how I can convert the existing .swf files to HTML5. Can I do it using captivate ?
If this can't be done then can i import existing flash code into captivate and then create it to HTML5 ?
    Thanks,
    Nibs

No to your first question.  Captivate will not convert an SWF to HTML5.
Cannot say for your second question.  It would depend what the AS3 code you imported was trying to do.  But the answer is also probably No.

  • Versioning of fla and swf files

    Hi there,
I am working on a small flash project with one other
developer and we email fla and swf files back and forth. So far
date/time stamps and file sizes have been good enough for "version
    control".
I am familiar with versioning systems for development but
what about after a release? How can I determine a released swf
file's build version? Date/time stamps can change with copying and
development could have already progressed and multiple version of
the same swf file are out there...
I am surprised that there isn't a built in mechanism to
assign a version number to a fla/swf file (e.g. as part of the
publish profile) that one can then view via the files properties
dialog... or perhaps somebody has to show me the light... :)
Does anybody have a recommendation on how to give a fla/swf
file a version number that can be checked once the file has been
    released?
    Thanks,
    Dan

.. or, Plan B), use QuicktimeX' ability of Screen-Recordings to record while you playback those files in their app.
The resulting mov can be treated as any other movie in iMovie.
Vector-graphics, interactive formats, etc are of no use in an video-editor ...

  • Can't Place Captivate 6 swf or html5 File into Muse v3.2.

Muse v3.2 won't place my Captivate 6 swf or html5 files. "Error encountered during import" error 0. Has anyone else solved this or a similar problem? What can I do? Suggestions welcome.

I inserted the following HTML code that I gleaned from
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5087131  -
Can't Place Captivate 6 swf or html5 File into Muse v3.2.
Re: Can't Place Captivate 6 swf or html5 File into Muse v3.2.
    The code is:
    <object width="1024" height="768"
    classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
    codebase="http://www.learndurkin.com/assets/infographics-history.swf/ version=8,0,0,0">
    <param name="SRC" value="assets/captivate6_file.swf">
    <embed src="assets/captivate6_file.swf" width="1024" height="768"></embed>
    </object>
I also uploaded the .swf file using the "Add File" function. When I publish, I get a blank white box with no video that plays. Any suggestions? Have I named the file incorrectly in the HTML code?
I feel like an idiot. I keep pounding this day after day with no solution. Hope I am writing in the correct forum.

  • Merging ActionScript into existing FLA or SWF

    Hi Folks,
Are there any tools or tricks to do this? I'm trying to take
existing (arbitrary) FLA file (or SWF) and merge in bunch of
ActionScript code into it so that resulting FLA file (or SWF) ends
up executing my ActionScript when the Flash presentation starts up.
I'm interested in tools that will allow me to do this using
command-line - I don't want to go through manual procedure of
operning up the Flash 8 editor, creating new layers, coping the
code into first frame, etc. I would like all this to be done
    automatically through a command-line.
I look into Flex but it seems Flex cannot deal with existing
FLA files and you need to start with a XML definition file. This
doesn't help me as I have bunch of existing FLA and SWF files I
    need to work with.
Since it is possible to decompile SWF into FLA, I imagine
there must be a way to hack it (e.g. through binary patch).
Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • FLA or SWF -- MOV or AVI conversion?

I have searched the forums already and could not come up with a definitive answer. I understand that the latest QuickTime update broke SWF compatibility, but are there any other solutions, either commercial or not, for converting SWFs or FLAs into a movie file - either MOV, AVI, or whatever else? We can pay for the software if it's out there. Google searches yielded only Winblows garbage. Starting up in a previous OS version is also not an option.
Basically, we need to get our Flash movies onto DVDs quickly, and repeatedly. Maybe you folks have other ideas for doing that... ?
    Thanks all!

You can use either Quicktime Pro or Mpeg-Streamclip to convert the flv's to .mov.
    Mpeg-Streamclip.
    http://www.squared5.com/
For Quicktime Pro you'll need this component:
    http://perian.org/
As for .swf, I have no idea. Since Quicktime plays a factor in some programs to convert swf to .mov. I have the flash program so it not a problem for me to convert them.

  • How to convert a flash demo (either FLA or SWF) into FLV file

I first converted the FLA file into AVI file by using the option of export movie in my flash software. But the ouput was not good, the quality of the demo was hit. The animations looked shaky. Then I tried converting the same file into QT format but as I use Flash 8 I was told to change the version in the publish settings to either Flash 5 or a lower version which did not support the actionscript and the animations that my file had. My file occupies 13,320 frames which makes the FLA and the SWF file quite heavy. Is there any way in which I can convert my demo to FLV format without using a third party software and just use Adobe Flash and Adobe Flash Video Encoder to do the same?

I wanted to know how can the conversion be made without using any tool apart from Quick Time movie player and Adobe Video Encoder.
Though I managed to make the FLV file I discovered that the background music was not playing.
I want a solution through which I can make the FLV using only Quick Time player and Adobe Video Encoder and not lose the background music and the voice-overs that exist in my file.

  • ? about SWF and HTML5

    Hi All,
Thanks for looking in. I just created my first FLA file and exported to SWF with a hyperlink, music and a few effects in it. Pretty nice. 750kb for a 40 seecond loaded movie.
I was checking out these links and tutorials:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/createjs/articles/using-flash-pro-toolkit-createjs.html
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/createjs/articles/getting-started.html
I absorbed 70% of it on the first read and will play with the example tomorrow. I just want a better grasp of the firing order of this please.
From what I gather, and this is where my question's are.
Do I need to upload the assets (exported assets & Jsfile) from my HTML5 export from that FLA movie to a / my server, (if I do not use an SWF container) This is how a browser can aquire it and run it? Then I need to paste the JS code into my HTML page so a Browser will have the instructions? I am a bit confused on this HTML5.
That SWF movie I just created (mentioned above) in Flash Pro will need to be placed in a player & skin, right? Or I can use an outlet like Youtube and embed a player. As I have been doing in the past with my .264. / .mov files. However to get graphics like Yahoo is using on their splash pages. Like onclick(); mouse over, etc. So that the images play on top of the page and not in a confined player. Almost as though they are transparent on the page. I need to Export HTML5, upload assets to a server and create my HTML page for the layout. Right?
Sorry if I am a bit incoherent on my questions, but I am a bit confused. I was under the impression ( at least that is what Adobe's promo video's appear to do) that I can create a flash movie, export to HTML5  upload the folder, paste the JS code on the html landing page a viola' . I am a bit hazy on the js code for the html landing page. However I did get the CS6 Master suite which has DreamWeaver. If I recall, when I used it when it was DreamWeaver 5 that should help with the specific paths.. Please advise
    Thank you,

yes, but createJS will create an html file for you.  so, you could start with that.
I am a bit confused on this HTML5.
That SWF movie I just created (mentioned above) in Flash Pro will need to be placed in a player & skin, right?
no, it will be displayed like any other html page with javascript.  ie, in the user's browser window.  there is no flash player involved.
Or I can use an outlet like Youtube and embed a player. As I have been doing in the past with my .264. / .mov files.
no, you will not be creating a video (flv/f4v) with createJS.

  • PDF links broken in SWF Flashpaper after conversion.

I've been building a flash app to view documents that exist as PDF files currently.
A recent demo of this app viewing the PDFs converted to SWF in Flashpaper viewer embedded in Flash player, we noticed that the embedded links (both interdocument links and the internet based links) were broken (didn't work).
Is there something we were doing wrong or is there a fix for this in a newer flashpaper version?
    Thanks,
    John

According to this http://www.adobe.com/products/flashpaper/productinfo/features/static_tour/navigation/hyper linking.html hyperlinks are supported, however I've seen these not working after converting PDFs to SWFs in my testing.
Is there some requirement for hyperlinks (both internal to the document and external internet links) to be working correctly after the conversion?

  • Old FLA's/Swf's not working.

    Hi,
I've just changed my machine to another Windows XP PC but
have upgraded to CS3. I've set the machine up the same way as my
old machine but old FLA's don't work anymore. What stopped working
is linked media being imported into the SWF. I've run my files from
my old machine and it all works fine?!!?
    I'm saving the FLA's as Version8 Actionscript 2.0.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers Simon.

Hi again - I thought I'd give you an update on my progress as
    I still need some help.
I've managed to get my external XML files loaded. I was using
'import com.communitymx.CacheManager;' and this component didn't
come over when I upgraded to CS3!
Upgrading seems a bit of a work up sometimes!

  • .fla into swf files

Okay here is the deal. I downloaded a template for oscommerce
that has a flash header (this flash file is main.swf). I am able to
make the adjustments that are needed in Flash 8 but once I try to
save it as .swf it tells me that I am unable to save it as an older
file. It says that I can try to save as "save as" but everytime I
save as main.swf it tells me the same thing again.
Also is there anything special that needs to be done in my
FTP program to upload flash files correctly?
Thank you for your time guys.
    Mike

    According to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7f12a.html# WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7acf
asset is reflected in Flash immediately.
Edit a SWF file from Dreamweaver in Flash
If you have both Flash and Dreamweaver installed, you can select a SWF file in a Dreamweaver document and use Flash to edit it. Flash does not edit the SWF file directly; it edits the source document (FLA file) and re‑exports the SWF file.
In Dreamweaver, open the Property inspector (Window > Properties).
In the Dreamweaver document, do one of the following:
Click the SWF file placeholder to select it; then in the Property inspector click Edit.
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the placeholder for the SWF file, and select Edit With Flash from the context menu.
Dreamweaver switches the focus to Flash, and Flash attempts to locate the Flash authoring file (FLA) for the selected SWF file. If Flash cannot locate the Flash authoring file, you are prompted to locate it."
But I don't see "Edit with Flash" option.  Maybe because I have a trial version of Dreamweaver?
