Flag Problems in Lightroom

I am currently using Lightroom 1.3.1 on Microsoft XP system. I imported a set of photos and added them to a collection. I marked the photos with either a reject flag, a pick flag or no flag. When I run the filter to choose the various flags each result is that there are no photos chosen. I can see the flags on each photo, but the filter still does not pick the photo.
I previously used flags before after I downloaded photos and had no problems.
Also can you apply flags at anytime in the selection process or only when you first download the photos?
Thanks
J F Gajda

A suggestion that you might try:
- you can install LR 1.3.1, if you still have the install package somewhere on your pc. (On XP the package name is LTRM_WWEFG_win_1_3_1). It will install in a separate folder - "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.3\lightroom.exe" - from LR 1.4.1 and will not interfere with your 1.4.1 installation. You can run both, but not at the same time.) Make a copy of your catalog and open it with 1.3.1. If you now have the same problem with Flag Filters, then you may have a database problem.
(I do not have the problem that you describe: opening the same catalog in 1.3.1 and 1.4.1 shows the same counts for various flag filters)
P.S. Link to download for 1.3.1 on Adobe:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=3815&fileID=3545
(For other versions, do Google search for "download Lightroom 1.3.1")
One other suggestion: when you view the thumbnails, does the frame show the flags icon? You can enable this in "Library View Options" (CTRL J or View->View Options.. to get there), Grid View tab, check "Pick Flags" in the Cell Icons section. This should let you know if the catalog still contains your correct flag information.

    Please help Duncan

you'll need both serial numbers to install the lr 5 upgrade.
if you purchased and downloaded lr 4 from adobe or registered with adobe, you may be able to find your lr 4 serial number under the account used to make that purchase/registration (not necessarily your current adobe id), Adobe ID
and adobe support may be able to help you, contact adobe support by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

  • Problems with Lightroom 5.2 and Olympus EM-1 RAW files?

There have been reports on DPREVIEW of color problems using Lightroom 5.2 with RAW files from the Olympus OM-D EM-1 camera.  This causes  difficulty creating camera profiles, and creates a red shift in Images.  JPG images are unaffected.
    Anyone else seeing this?
When may we look forward to LR 5.3, hopefully with a fix?
    Thanks............... Jack Winberg

The read me file from Adobe indicate that LR 5.2 has "preliminary" support for the Olympus EM-1 raw files.
I would make sure you keep your original raw files so they can be converted when the support is finalized. i.e. I would not convert to dng on import if that is your normal workflow.

  • Exporting problem in Lightroom 5.7

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with lightroom and I really hope someone in the community can help me because I have a client waiting for the pictures
When I export the pictures everything works just fine, but when I open the edited (?) file I only get the original. This doesn't change when I export to another file format or anything.
Does someone know how I can export these files? I have done it without problems multiple times and this problem just appeared.
    Thanks in advance.
    Stef

When I export the pictures everything works just fine, but when I open the edited (?) file I only get the original.
    I guess I would like a clarification.
Does this mean you go back to the original photo and expect the edits to appear (they will not appear), or does this mean you are exporting the photo and you go to the exported photo (which is a different file than the original photo) and are not seeing the edits?

  • Projector problems using Lightroom

I am a photography teacher in Germany. The school recently purchased a new high-end (HDMI) projector (40,000 Euros) The quality is incredible. The projector works perfectly when using PowerPoint and Windows Photo Viewer. When I open Lightroom, the projector periodically flashes on and off. The projector works perfectly for all the other teachers in a wide variety of applications. I need to find a solution to this problem as Lightroom represents my tool of choice for post processing. Below are my system details.
    Computer and OS:
    HP EliteBook 2760p
HP Docking station using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable to the projector
    Windows 7
    Lightroom 5.3
The IT staff at the school are very good and they do not know what is happening. I have tried several different cables and nothing appears to fix the problem.
I look forward to hearing from you,
    Jim

To clarify, PowerPoint and Windows Photo Viewer work with YOUR laptop connected and only LR has an issue, correct? Does LR work at all and if so in what modules, how soon do you see the flashing, what color is the projector screen, is it displaying a message? It sounds like the HDMI handshake is getting dropped for some reason. My first suggestion is to refer to the user manual, online troubleshooting on the manufacturer's website, or contact the projector manufacturer's tech support. Also make sure you are using a "Certified" HDMI 1.3 cable form a name-brand manufacturer of no more than 3 meter length.
    Other things to try:
Set the projector in Lightroom as the 2nd display (1 and 2 icons in lower left-hand corner). You may need to use Windows display setup Guided Help: Dual monitor setup is easy in Windows 7!
You might also try installing Lightroom on another laptop or desktop and see if the same issue occurs.

Heya, Jonathan. Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Congratulations, and welcome to the fun-filled world of kernel panics. Yup, that's the text in the gray box you're getting.
The good news is you don't necessarily have to reinstall Mac OS X. If you have access to another computer and a FireWire cable, you can reinstall the 10.4.3 update, and everything should be groovy.
    * Connect the two computers via FireWire cable. Your iBook should not be on yet.
    * Boot up your iBook and hold down the 'T' key as it starts up. The iBook will enter Target mode.
    * Download the Mac OS 10.4.3 update on the other computer.
    * Run the 10.4.3 updater as normal, but select the hard drive of your iBook when you get to the list of available volumes.
Failing that, you can reinstall Mac OS X on your iBook from your install DVD. When you select your volume, make sure you click on the 'Options' button and select 'Archive and Install'. You'll retain all your personal files and network settings, but you might have to reinstall applications, haxies, etc.

  • Printing problem with Lightroom 5

Lightroom 5 CC is printing a 1/2 inch discolored bar vertically down the right side of my photos regardless of size (ie 4x6, 8x10). It only happens if I print one photo on photo paper the same size as the print.  For example, if I print 2, 4x6 photos on a 8 1/2 x 11 photo paper, they print fine.  I've also printed from Picasa without any problem.  I'm using a Canon Pixma ip6000D.  I've updated drivers and cleaned the print heads.  Problem appears to be only in Lightroom 5.  I tried several of the Canon ip6000d profiles and they all have the same problem.
Also tried printing from Photoshop CC and Photoshop Elements 12.  Vertical bar prints using either app.

In the Toolbar at the bottom of the work area *(Press T if you can't see it) there is a pulldown that allows you to choose between:
    All Filmstrip
    Selected
    Flagged
    Set it to Selected.

  • Exposure problem with Lightroom 4 CS5 and Raw 6.7

    Hi all
I have recently upgraded from Lightroom 3.6 to the new Lightroom 4 and am genrally pretty happy with it, I tend to use it along with photoshop CS5 extended and also imagenomic Portraiture, but I have found an annoying little problem in doing this and something that I never suffered with when using Lightroom 3.6 and it is this...
when I take an image from Lightroom 4 and click Edit image in Photoshop CS5 and then use Imageonmic to soften skin etc all seems to work well I then carry out any touching up within Photoshop and once finished save it back to lightroom for any final tweaks etc which is fine and all works smoothly, except once I have saved it back to Lightroom the exposure has been pushed up about 3-4 stops at least , meaning I then have to pull it down again and this can sometimes result in extra editing I could do with out. now I know its not the end of the world and is probably just a bug that I'm hoping will be sorted within Lightroom 4 but I just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem, is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? (although I'm doing the same with Lighroom 4 as i used to do with LIghtroom 3.6 and that worked fine)
Oh one more thing I should mention to get lightroom 4 and CS5 to work properly together I had to go into the Adobe Labs site and download the Camera RAW 6.7 software for CS5 so it could also be a bug here i guess.

There have been several posts over on the Lightroom forum, and other non-Adobe forums also, about this issue: it seems that there's a bug in ACR 6.7RC which causes the image to be over-expose, compared with the setting applied using PV2012 in LR. I guess this is the kind of thing a Release Candidate is supposed to flag up! I was all set to upgrade my own ACR to ensure that PS would recognise my LR4 edits (I normally avoid RC versions and wait for the final), but all the reports of this problem have stopped me from doing so.
In the meantime, best option so far as I'm aware is to process the image in LR (you get the option when you choose to edit in PS), meaning that it does all the rendering before passing it over to PS (otherwise, ACR handles the conversion of the raw file into TIFF). This does however mean that smart-objects and so on are temporarily out of the equation.
I'm sure this will all be resolved pretty soon.
Edit: in fact, one of the posts I mentioned is about ten posts down in this very forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/974963?tstart=0

  • Recurring problem with lightroom 5.6 upload to mobile devices

    Hi all,
Using Lightroom 5.6, I am experiencing ongoing issues with synchronising  (uploading) LR to mobile devices. In brief, the upload will typically fail in mid-session with some collections partially or fully uploaded and some not started. (This may initially have been caused by going off-line during an upload),  It will not recover. Deleting all uploaded data to prompt a restart does not help - it does not restart either.
Previously I have had to contact support and send the diagnostic report. Apparently there is a flag on the server end that needs resetting. Not the most satisfactory of solutions as it requires an action outwith the users control, but it does / did reset the file transfer interface. Apparently this bug was scheduled for fixing in the next up date. I understand I am on the latest (5.6) version , so does anyone know if this is still a bug?
Meantime, can support please reset my connection?
    Regards .... Alastair

I have a similar problem.  After upgrade to 5.6, LR told me it needed to resync ALL of my photos (5,000+).  It was really slowing my Mac down, so at some point I temporarily disabled syncing with the thought that I would re-enable overnight.  Well I finally re-enabled today and too my surprise, all of the photos that were synced have now reverted to their last know status in the Lr Mobile.  Even the desktop edits I made this morning have been overwritten.  The Lightroom history panel shows "From Lr mobile" as the last edit...for almost 5,000 photos.
Good thing I have a backup.
Adobe - what would have caused this.  Its not good when the desktop obviously has the last edit, but Lr mobile is allowed to overwrite it. :-( :-(

  • Installation problem with lightroom 3.4

After a 5th chat attempt , the last one lasting 2 hrs in addition to giving user permission i am no further ahead. I am installing lightroom 3.4 on a win 7 64 bit
dell computer. Installation goes well until i click the iconto launch the application. Nothing happens except that asmall lightroom icon is placed on the bottom of the screen task bar. When you place the cursor over this a small box appears above it. Using a powerful magnifying glassI can see that it is the buy or use your serial number screen. However this tiny screen is not interactive. This is where the problem starts. Any ideas. All assistance at this point is more than welcome.

I'm glad to hear you solved your problem, Gerry.
If you are the same person who posted this question over at lightroomforums.net, I have one favour to ask:
If you are posting a question in one forum, and get a reply there, please respond to that answer (either positively or negatively), before going into another forum to post the same question. It is quite frustrating for a person replying to your post just seeing the same question pop up in another forum, without having received any feedback on the reply.
    Thanks, enjoy!

  • Problem with Lightroom and Epson Printer

I'm suddenly having problems printing from Lightroom. I have Lightroom 1.4.1 installed on an iMac G5, and have an Epson Photo Stylus R2400. I've been using this combination from the beginning with no problems. Now suddenly when I try to print I get an error message that says Media is out or not loaded correctly. Neither is the case. I have tried restarting my computer, the printer and everything else I can think of, but nothing works. I can print from any other application without problems, so I'm assuming it's an issue with Lightroom.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? I was going to uninstall lightroom and do a reinstall but I can't find my installation disc. Now I'm at a loss to figure out what to do.
    Thanks,
    Craig

Try deleting you prefs file and/or print templates.
Lightroom is unique to many other programs in that it saves and restores printer settings. Some bad data may tried to be passes. A "fresh start" might help.
