Flash 10.3.183.7 crashed in IE8 32-bit, flickers followed by greyed ! mark
So yea, as inthe title of my topic, recently I had a problem where Flash was flickering, like when I move the mouse, during a FaceBook game (puzzle game which really doesn't require much anything). Then after some time crashes and showing the greyed ! mark symbol; Even if I refresh the page it's fine for a while then the greyed ! appears again. What do I do? I'm on windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit using IE8 32 bit browser as mentioned above. If anyone has any possible info, leave me a reply back. Thanks!
Hi,
Did these crashes just recently start occurring? Is there a particular game you're playing that causes it? Also, could you post a screenshot of the gray exclamation mark? If this is a crash, please follow the instructions listed on the following post and create a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com.
How to report a crash with Flash Player
Generating a crash log for IE in Vista and Windows 7

Flash freez and then crash, windows 7, 64 bit OS
I have had this problem since day one, for over two years. Flash on youtube and other sites freezes and crashes the flashplayer plugin if I dont continuously move my mouse around on top of the flash window. I have used this as an solution: clicked the taskbar or volume gauge so it stays on top of the firefox window and then the flash videos works just fine in the background since the computer focuses on the taskbar/ volume gauge which then is the main window.
I have of course tried the obvious solutions like updates, re installing etc. The problem level varies, probably due to different versions and so on, but got a lot worse lately probably due to the latest update to Firefox 33.0, before this, flash worked fine on Facebook and some other pages but now it is the same there as well as with youtube and similar pages. Also happens with only one tab open and only Firefox running.
Is there anyway to code/ trick Firefox to believe its in the background, is it something that could be done for new versions of Firefox? I dont want to disable all kinds of plugins, revert to older versions or those kinds of solutions.
I'm on the brink of switching to IE which works just fine, but I cant stand using it since I've always used Firefox.
This is my computer:
http://www.cnet.com/products/acer-aspire-5750-6438-15-6-core-i5-2410m-windows-7-home-premium-64-bit-4-gb-ram-500-gb-hdd/specs/
Thanks! :)I cannot answer ''this'' question: "Is there anyway to code/ trick Firefox to believe its in the background, is it something that could be done for new versions of Firefox?"
But it should not be necessary to do that. At the risk of repeating advice you have seen before, have you tried:
(1) Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox: un-check the box here and restart Firefox:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
(2) Disabling hardware acceleration in Flash: see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
(3) Disabling the protected mode feature of the Flash plugin. It has security benefits, but is not compatible with all systems for some reason. You can do this by creating or editing a settings file.
The following pages/posts provide different approaches for that:
* Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
* Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
* Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
You may need to exit and start Firefox up again before that takes effect.
Can you think of any software on your system that would be monitoring the active window for any reason, either sending it input or scraping its content? -
Flash Player 10.1 crashes with IE7, IE8 & FF3.6.6
Hello! First I'd like to say you all are providing excellent information and help here. I've read some answers and am very impressed with the time you take to help Adobe product users. Maybe you can help me too! *hopes*
I have read a couple of the threads to see what I need to provide here. I hope I give all the needed information. First of all, I sound kind of like the user 'Carol' who uses Farmville/Facebook and updated to Internet Explorer 8, Flash Player 10.1 and there was another program she mentioned. Anyway, my problem is similar except FP 10.1 crashes while using FF3.6.6, IE7 or IE8. I have also reverted back to FP 9 (just to test the browsers) with same results - player crashes. I have not run my SuperAntispyware to see if a virus could be the issue - although I am suspecting it is Not since so many others are experiencing problems with FP also. My SuperAntispyware virus protection does not protect real time so there is nothing to disable regarding that. When I'm using IE I do keep Protected Mode On. If you would like me to try a game session with it Off, I can try that and provide you with the results, however FF has been my browser of choice lately, but now it is failing me too with the FP.
The sites I am having trouble with are Shockwave.com and BigSeagames.com (instead of Facebook & Farmville like Carol is/was having). There are certain games at Shockwave and BigSeas that crash consistently. Another player at BigSeas was told to not use IE, and to try FF. So I did just that. It worked for awhile, but then FP started crashing as well. I have searched FF, Microsoft and now Adobe for help with this FP problem. It consistently keeps crashing.
You can freely go to Firefox browser and type in the ID for my FF crash reports (listed below) - in the FF browser type about:crashes in address bar; on the resulting screen you can paste in the report numbers, if there is time to look at a couple. I won't include all the reports, unless you specify that you need them. Today I have had the most crashes - 12 total! I have always been an IE-girl (lol) just because I was so use to it. I don't really care what browser I use as long as it works!
Thanks for any help you can give and I look forward to hearing from someone. ~MindyI've had this problem with Flash Player 10.1 crashing constantly in Firefox 3.6.6 since July 4th weekend. I eventually installed version 3.6.3 and it stopped happening.
Once I installed FF version 3.6.8 this morning, the problem came back.
I tried this solution and it seems to be working so far (keep your fingers crossed!)
(from: http://www.technogadge.com/how-to-stop-firefox-plugin-container-exe-process/)
Steps to stop plugin-container.exe process:
Open Firefox web browser.
Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter key.
A warning will appear. Ignore it and press the "I’ll be careful, I promise!" button.
In the Filter field type dom.ipc. Six preferences will appear for the filter dom.ipc.
Ignore first and last preferences. Toggle (double-click) each of the four remaining preferences to change the value from "true" to "false".
That’s it. Look the screenshot.
Explanation: The crash protection feature in Firefox 3.6 is enabled for certain plugins only. The four preferences that we modified here specifies four different out-of-process plugins. They are the the NPAPI test plugin, Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime (Windows) and Microsoft Silverlight (Windows). These plugins are specified in a separate dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.<filename> preference by default is set to true. We can disable them by changing their value to false. And thus plugin-container.exe will not run. By default the preference dom.ipc.plugins.enabled is already set to "false". So, no need to touch it. The dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs is also not important here as other values are false. -
CP8 flash crash in IE8 near end of course
My Captivate 8 course (published for Flash) keeps crashing in IE8 near the end of the course:
I removed two slides from the end of the course, republish and did not receive this error. The problem seems to be related to the course duration. How can I resolve this issue without removing content from my course? After some extensive testing, we have confirmed that the error only occurs in IE8 and does not occur in later versions of IE. Deleting the slide and recreating it did not help. The only thing that is effective is shortening the duration of the course by deleting slides (it doesn't seem to matter which slides). Also, the crash does not always occur on exactly the same slide. It crashes near the end of the course, but the slide it crashes on varies between test cycles. The link below suggests that the icon means this is a Flash memory error caused by the browser being unable to support the Flash content. Now that I have more information, I would like to re-phrase my post in hopes of getting the attention of Adobe. Is there a way to delete this post so I can start from scratch? (I know people don't like it when you double post but my understanding of the issue has changed since I first wrote it) What do you suggest?

The following is the message after the successful download from within Microsoft Internet Explorer and Installation of Adobe Flash Player on 8/17/2011 (today): You are now running Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.5
And the following version of Adobe Shockwave Flash Player was downloaded and installed as a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox on 8/15/2011: Shockwave Flash 10.3.183.5
The following link was not working, and in fact access deteriorated since installing the latest Firefox plug-in for Adobe Shockwave Flash Player.

For example it stopped supplying daily data for longer Timelines. Then yesterday the panel on the left side of the webpage appeared garbled. I had been continually getting crashes of the Flash Player for months but never got any notice that I was not up to date.

Confusion has been introduced because of the similar names for the same application. Microsoft Internet Explorer’s notification states that Adobe Flash Player is not up to date and requests download and installation of the same version that had already been installed within Mozilla Firefox, which refers to this application as Shockwave Flash (of the same version). PLEASE SEE IF USERS CAN BE PROVIDED WITH SOME DISCUSSION OF THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THESE APPLICATIONS.
What appears currently as fixes on the Firefox website for this application does not fix the problem, but so far it seems that the download from Internet Explorer of Adobe Flash Player (today) fixes the problem of the plug-in. This fix was NOT mentioned within the Mozilla Firefox website. Please note that at this point I do not have enough experience using the “fix” to know if I will not continue to have other problems with this plug-in.
I'm running Windows XP (latest SP and updates) and cannot use Internet Explorer beyond Version 8, since the later versions are apparently only for later MS OSs. Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave crashing has disabled my computer
I have downloaded a second flash player and it is still the same. Firefox has been crashing daily for a few weeks. I noticed that your adblocker plus was updated 6/4. Since then I have almost no use of firefox, because the Adobe flash player 13.0.r0 and Shockwave crash notices are constantly popping up. Could that update have something to do with why the flash players are not working? Below are an example of the crash details.
Thanks for the help. I prefer your browser, but this has made it non-functioning.
In trying to fix it, a window came up that asked would I like to change it back to a previous working image, which was Windows XP. Although this computer is Windows 7, I clicked the box yes, and said I wanted it to work like Windows XP. I see in your Operating System below, that it reads Windows Xp, but this computer is actually Windows 7. I can't find that menu to change unclick and change it back, so that it is working as Windows 7.

If that doesn't work try Try to disable Protected Mode in Flash 11.3 and above by adding the line ProtectedMode=0 to the Flash "mms.cfg" file located in one of these locations: [46]
(Windows 32bit) C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
(Windows 64bit) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
For example, on a Windows 7 64-bit system, open the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder, copy the file "mms.cfg" to the desktop, open it in Notepad, add a new line <code>ProtectedMode=0 </code> and then close Notepad, saving your changes. Next, go back to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder, rename the original file to "mms.cfgBAK" (to save it as a backup) and then drag and drop in the modified "mms.cfg" file from the desktop. [47] [48] [49]
Note: To re-enable Flash Protected Mode, either restore a backup of the original mms.cfg file, if you saved one, or else re-edit the mms.cfg file to remove the <code>ProtectedMode=0 l</code> line you added. Updating Flash Player or installing a newer version does not automatically re-enable Protected Mode
Flash has been a pain since day 1 and Mozilla is currently working to replace Flash with Shumway. Unfortunately it's in the Nightly channel, doesn't come activated automatically and it isn't quite ready for normal usage. I just tested Nightly yesterday with Shumway and it wouldn't play. -
ATTENTION ADOBE! Your CS5 and CS55 products crash continuously on Windows 7 64-Bit. And I don't mean just when I'm saving (which they do) or when I'm importing into Flash Pro (which it does); I'm saying it just completely dissappears just as if I hadn't even opened it. No error message whatsoever. Oh, and of course, ALL WORK GONE since my last save; And I don't think that I should have to save every 5 seconds!
IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?
IF NOT...
PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE WE'VE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON YOUR PRODUCTS; AND NOW THEY'RE COSTING US EVEN MORE WITH POOR PRODUCTIVITY BECAUSE WE HAVE TO KEEP REDOING THINGS; NEVERMIND ALL OF THE FRUSTRATION IT IS CAUSING!!!
I thought that upgrading from CS5 to CS55 might help, but no, the problem is even worse.
FLASH, ILLUSTRATOR, and FIREWORKS ALL EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS.Sorry to bother you I just thought you might hit on something if other apps were not working.
Is everyone in your office having this issue with Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash? How many people?
Did you upgrade to 64-bit from 32-bit?
Are you using an approved OS for your hardware; i.e. Dell recommends using?
Have you scanned your memory to see if its bad?
Do you have your memory in the right slots in your motherboard?
What apps are you using when Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash? If you are running Photoshop, Premiere or After Affects you might have to adjust their memory useage.
When Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash is your system having issues?
Have you checked the event logs in Windows to see if there are any error or critical events logged at or around the time when Flash, Fireworks or Illustrator crash?
Note you can also open a support ticket with Adobe on the issue and work that pretty far without paying $25 (which is not that much); if your business is losing money as you stated originally. -
Flash Pro CC is crashing when trying to create new of open existing document.
These are the things that I have already tried:
Sign out and back in to Creative Cloud App. >> did not work
Unistall and reinstall the app. >> did not work
The is a portion of the crash report I get:
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
The machine is a Macbook Pro Retina (Mid 2012) High-end specs. (no system resource shortage)
Other symptoms:
when the app launches and before the attempt to create or open a document, I get a backgroud in the center of the stage with wierd blue streaks across itI am also having this issue - I have also uninstalled CS6 - so now I'm right back to CS5.5 as my only option (this is not at all ideal)

Adobe Flash (Every version) Constantly Crashes...
Hello
I'm new to the forums but hopefully I can ask this question appropriately.
I've scoured the net for days now and have read similar threads in this forum looking for an answer and nothing i've done has worked.
Both Flash and Shockwave crash every single time I go to a website with a high usage of flash.
I've uninstalled both using the official uninstaller and have resintalled different versions and it doesn't seem to matter, it still crashes.
I've tried going to flash sites in Chrome, Firefox, and IE. They all crash.
I've updated my sound and video drivers and that didn't make a difference.
If I go to the adobe flash website I do see the animated F without a crash but that's the only site with flash that doesn't crash.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! (But please, no one comment telling me how they have the same problem and can't figure it out. I don't know why that's such a common trend in forums but It doesn't help me and no one cares.)

Adobe Flash 10.3.183.7 running hot?
I installed the newest version of Flash today, and almost immediately the fan on my Macbook Air (late 2010) started to run in every browser. I finally uninstalled and reinstalled one from a couple of versions ago, and the fan quit doing that. Any other such experiences?
Hi,
Did these crashes just recently start occurring? Is there a particular game you're playing that causes it? Also, could you post a screenshot of the gray exclamation mark? If this is a crash, please follow the instructions listed on the following post and create a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com.

I am running windows vista for business (32 bit), using firefox, when I try to play a sample from audible.co.uk the browser hangs and then I get the message, "adobe flash plug in has crashed". I have tried uninstalling the flash player and reinstalling to no avail. It also crashes using Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
Try uninstalling the currently installled Flash plugin (required for most YouTube content) then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches -
Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes while publishing for iOS
Greetings,
I'm having the same problem as is detailed in the forum post below from March 8th:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/972499
The problem is that Flash Professional CS5.5 crashes every time I try to publish my 'Hello World' project for iOS. The crash happens anytime I press the OK or Publish buttons while configuring the iOS Settings. This is the tutorial I am attempting to complete:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS789ea67d3e73a8b2-240138de1243a7725e7-7ffc.html
I sent a crash report to adobe, which I could duplicate if that helps.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
JeremyHi,
There could be an issue with your latest Java Runtime Environment. Could you please uninstall your current JRE and try install a version prior to that?.
You can find a list of JRE updates here at http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/history/
Thanks!

Flash CS 5.5 crashes when clicking in actions panel
Hi,
Anyone having an issue with Flash CS 5.5 crashing when you click in the actions panel? This is a weird one. Randomly, maybe 2-3 times a week I'll be working on a project, click in the actions panel to start typing some code and Flash will stop responding and then just close out without any warning. It's happened so often that I immediatly know if I click in th actions panel and don't see an immediate flashing cursor, I know it's going to crash. Luckily I save often. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd problem.
thanks,
daveI'll throw in my final $0.02.. If scripting on the timeline is what you're familiar with and you want to keep it that way that's cool. If you'd consider coding OUTSIDE of flash and running your animations via a code-centric approach, you will save a ton of time. Depends on the project though. If the latter is comfortable for you then there are many tools out there that let you edit code outside Flash. You save them in .as files and import the code. I always hated the built in editor. It might be worth looking for a replacement.
You're on a Mac so I have no immediate "oh this is best" but I've heard FlashDevelop works virtualized. Also maybe mac favorites like TextWrangler and such support code completion for AS3.
