Flash 10 player for Mac - overlays don't work (pic inside)

I have a MacBookPro running Snow Leopard (10.6.2 - although this problem also existed when I was previously running Leopard 10.5). This is what Flash looks like on Myspace and YouTube for me:
YouTube controls are intermittent (i usually can't hit the pause button and have to use the space bar to stop videos). annontations show up, but as empty ballons with no content. just like this ad pop-up for itunes. MySpace music players work, the audio plays back, the play button works and the next play button works, but there's no visual information for the tracks or playback.
I've tried this in Firefox, Chrome (beta, downloaded today), Safari and Opera. Same problem in all, which makes me think it's platform independent and purely a Flash problem - perhaps a conflict with something else?
However, I've tried uninstalling Flash (using downloaded Adobe's Flash Uninstaller), uninstalling Firefox (including the entire /Library/Application Data folder for Firefox with my user profile), rebooting and reinstalling Firefox 3.5.5 and Flash (using downloaded Adobe Flash Installer). No joy. Same problem.
Ironically this also happens on the Adobe Flash Player test page - the video plays fine, but the version box doesn't display any information:
That black box is what shows up when you rollover the Version Information area.
Any one run into this? I've looked all over but have been surprised by how little recent information there is. Any references to Flash Player/Mac problems seems to be almost a year old at best.
I have no idea any more what this could be. But it's been this way for months. It's manageable to some degree since the functionality is basically there. But it's incredibly annoying.
Is there an older version of Flash Player that works with Firefox 3.5.5 and Mac OSX 10.6.2?

The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a later version installed.

I cant get a flash player for mac G4,10.4.11.. tried adoe 10.1. (now the letter after A won't work) and it won't work.is there a fix or is my mac only good for watching movies

Read this whole post before proceeding. You have to follow steps precisely and there is mention of an alternative version of Flashplayer at the end that some have decided to try.
To update you should download:

2) Back up your hard drive, ideally to a bootable clone. A bootable clone will allow you to restore your hard drive to its original state should something go wrong.
3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.

This gets around web sites that don't really need a new version but think they know best. If they really do require it then this hack doesn't work.

Alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite

Is there a reliable and secure alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite? I keep getting websites telling me that I can see a video because my Flash Player needs to be updated. But I haven't wanted to install it as I've heard negative things about it and Macs. Is there an alternative to Flash Player? And if so, what is it and where do I find it?

Being that Flash is very insecure, I've completely removed it from my MacBook Pro. The best alternative is to uninstall Flash from your system and download Google Chrome as it has Flash build into it and you're not vulnerable unless you're browsing in Chrome. If Safari is your main browser, as mine is, then you need to open Safari Preferences, go to Advanced and click the checkbox for 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. Once you've done this, the Develop menu bar menu shows up and you can click it and choose 'Open Page With' and choose Chrome. It is a bit cumbersome, but it removes the vulnerability when browsing in Safari as many sites are now using HTML5. Hope this help.

It's always okay. Hackers try to find ways to attack it, Adobe fixes it. Just like Apple releases patches for flaws that have been found. Just like Microsoft constantly releases security fixes for its OS and other software.
No software is perfectly and forever safe, and unlikely ever will be. The only thing you must do in respect to the Flash Player is to only ever get it directly from Adobe. Never, EVER pay attention to any third party site that pops up a message about having to update flash. Especially if it tells you to download said update from their site.

Where do I get the rght Flash Player for Mac on Intel processor?

Please help! I'm getting mad! I cannot open the most of the sites as I keep being redirected to the macromedia site to download the flash player! I have done it again and again but doesn't work! Can someone advise... where can I find the reight flash player for intel mac?
Also the macromedia site doesn't know wich player I need. I'm, coming from a PC world but with this mac I'm, getting confused. I feel like an ibrid ('mutantes' or something like that)!

Hi, The Square is a beta version and still in testing. You need to Uninstall it if you want the latest released version.
Even tho you have a 64bit OS, you need to use the 32bit browser with any Flash Player version other than Square.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:

Adobe Flash Player for Mac 10.5.8

I have been using Adobe Flash Player for ages (for Hulu, etc.) and I tried to update it today.
After that I was unable to open it. It keep showing the message:
The application Install Adobe Flash Player quit unexpectedly
I tried to find out what I should do and followed some directions shown to solve this, such as:
- Uninstall Flash Player
- trashing Flash Player plug-in (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)
- trashing Flash Player Install Manager (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)
According to Adobe's instructions, prior to installing Flash Player, I should open Safari Preferences, Security and then enable Allow Java and Allow All Other Plug-Ins in the Internet Plug-ins section, but no Internet Plug-Ins section appears in the Security section of Preferences.
I have tried to download Flash Player from a few sites, but I keep on receiving the same 'quit unexpectedly' message.
If anyone could help me, I would be really grateful. I need to resolve this problem as soon as possible. Up to today, there has been no problem.

Be careful where you download from, many free sites now attach malware or adware to it, only get from Adobe's site.
There are no recent updates for 10.5.8, is your iMac PPC or Intel?

Flash Player for mac is not installing

Hello,
I am trying to reinstall the flash player i had. But when i click the "install" button on screen, all it is doing is directing me back to the adobe website. I have tried many other ways and its the same thing. The only thing i can install is some adobe debugger, in which just installs shockwave. I dont want shockwave as i dont know what that is. Anyone know why im being directed back the site?
Also im running the lastest OS which is Maverick.

I have a mac os 10.4 and i tried upgrading the flash player because there are certain video and shows I can't see and I uninstalled the old flash player and tried to install the new flash player well it didn't work because this is a powerpc I guess and the latest version they have for power pc is flash player 10.1 So I downloaded and installed the flash player but when I tried to watch a video or show it keeps saying that I need to download a flash player so I am kind of lost I mean the flash player is already installed and everything? I am running Mac OS X 10.7.5. Last night Facebook told me I MUST update to the newest version of Flash Player in order to upload multiple pics. I kept getting plug-in failure messages and then the message saying I need to update my version of Flash.
Problem is I have updated my version of Flash and the plug in still doesn't work. Please help, my business relies on my being able to upload multiple photos daily to social media. What is going on? I am in the same boat. I cannot watch flash videos on the BBC website or on BBC iPlayer, although all other flash videos (YouTube for example) are fine.
For reasons that passeth all understanding, they work with the PPC version of Firefox, called TenFourFoxG5.app, once you have anabled plug-ins, as it does not natively support Flash.
You can download TenFourFoxG5 from here:

Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:

But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
I am using Flash 10.1.102.64 in TenFourFox and it works just fine.

I've been trying to find the right flash player to install on my mac osx 10.5.8 using safari. I can't play video on youtube or facebook because it says im missing plug-in. This issue keeps coming up. I have in the past few months uninstalled the version i had and installed an older version of flash 10.1 but then that stopped working a few days ago, and now nothing works. I have tried uninstalling old versions,and searched every forum about this but i cant find an answer.Does anybody have an answer to this issue?
