Flash 11.3 horribly lags

Ok, so when 11.3 first released my system asked me if I wanted to update.  I told it yes, it updates and I re-open my browser (was using Google Chrome at the time).  I go to play a facebook game and suddenly my system lags immensely to the point I almost thought it had frozen.  The moment I closed the window with the FB game, my system ran fine.  I have the same experience using Firefox and also while doing things like watching Youtube videos.  So I downgrade to 11.2 and boom....zero issues running the exact same games (though I have switched to back to Firefox since Chrome autoupdates Adobe flash to 11.3 and yeah....it gives the same issues I just described).
So its been like a few weeks or whatever since 11.3 has released and I "fixed" my issue.  Adobe flash updater pops up saying there's an update.  Without thinking (since I like to keep my programs up to date, especially to prevent security issues) I tell it to update until I see the version number is 11.3 and I remember the issues I had.  Hoping to the computer gods that maybe it has been fixed I load up a Facebook game...and get slammed in the virtual face with severe lag...guess its time to downgrade once again...

Do you have RealPlayer installed?  There are some incompatibilities between the latest Flash Player and the RealPlayer plugin.
If not, no other ideas; downgrade and disable auto-update until the next version is reased.

  • Flash builder 4.7 lags on big files

I have file that contain 5000 strings of code. And when I open this file and starts edit it - flash builder starts terrible lags! I can print only 3-4 chars per minute...
There was not such problem in FB 4.6
    How can i fix it?

    Hi,
    Please provide few more info.
    1. What is your machine config?
    2. What exactly is the content of file? Can you provider us a sample?

  • Horrible lag time, spinning wheel on MacBook Pro

I'm putting this in the OS X Leopard section, but I don't know where it goes.
I'm using OS X 10.5.6 on a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM and a 180 GB hard drive that's got 5 GB of space free.
And it has become horribly sluggish.
At first, I noticed that video was stuttering on the internet. First flash video, and then gradually everything. It would play, then it would stick, then it would jump to whatever real-time spot I was at.
Gradually, it has become everything. Even as I'm typing this, I have moments where it will stick, and I keep typing, and the spinning beach ball pinwheel spins for 2 or 3 seconds, and then all my words quickly write into this box.
It happens when I'm scrolling down a page on the internet -- start scrolling, get the spinning wheel, then it scrolls.
It seems to happen system-wide, which is why I've come to this forum.
I even ran Disk Utility, and when I moved away from that window while it was repairing permissions, it stopped... when I returned to that window, it finished working. It feels like there's some memory problem or something.
It was originally just somewhat annoying, but it's become impossible to work with this computer. I'm traveling, so I don't have my original OSX disc to try reinstalling (and anyway, if I did, does that mean I have to reinstall all my other software, too??).
Does anyone have any advice? I've repaired permissions, I've rebooted, I've tried installing OnyX (but I'm not sure what to do with it).
PLEASE HELP. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

    ozxx;
I just checked and the drive that's in here is 5400 rpm, apparently. Yikes, that could be a big cause, too.
Not really. The more free disk capacity you have, the more efficient the operation of your HDD. In OS X the system uses the free space for swap files. Remember virtual memory? Same thing. The speed difference between 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm is not as significant as the difference between 160 GB and 320 GB, because of what is called areal density. This enables the drive to read more data on each rotation of the HDD. However, even with a larger (and faster rotational speed) HDD, you need to maintain the 15% contiguous available capacity to avoid serious issues.
In terms of backing up, the most efficient way is to make a full bootable clone of your entire HDD using a utility like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. You can then do SmartUpdates/cumulative updates to keep your backup up-to-date. The beauty of cloning is that you can boot your computer from your backup in emergencies, or to run Disk Utilty or other utilities on the internal HDD.

  • Flash video playback suddenly lagging???

For some reason my flash video on Youtube won't play w/o lagging. The default resolution goes to 144p even, I've no connection problems(150mbps down/30 up, wireless AC TC wired to cable modem). I've emptied all caches in Safari and the Flash settings under system preferences, and I've restarted the computer. Latest version of Flash and Mavericks, extensions are off. The progress bar in the Youtube screen even resets back to the beginning after starting sometimes. It looks like I'm on dial up or something. Speedtests are perfect btw...

I'm writing this follow-up so that if anyone else runs into this issue, they might have a solution to fix it.
The infinite buffer hang was an issue that happened across my network, no matter what Mac device was being used and I was able to duplicate it on a number of machines manufactured between 2010 and late 2013, They were also running various opperating systems from snow leopard to lion to mavericks. All flash updates were the most recent.
Given that the only new change was a network upgrade, all signs pointed to this. After examining the network config using airport utilities, I discovered a double NAT error (that airport was currently ignoring). The cable router and airport router were both trying to establish a 192.x.x.x IP. I got my cable provider to config their router so it worked as just a modem and not a router and the Flash hang problem went away.

  • Adobe Flash Professional CC brush lag, and jagged edges

So, I've been trying to use adobe flash, but whenever i try to draw anything, the brush lags, and it comes out as jagged bent lines. If I use the brush really slowly, it will work properly, but I am unable to use the brush or pencil tool at normal speeds without getting these jagged lines. There is a screenshot included, please help. I've updated my graphics card driver, and my specs are down below.
    (PC Specs):
    AMD FX 4300 3.8GHz
    NVIDIA GTX 770
    8GB Corsair RAM
    Windows 8
I have a Wacom Bamboo, but both the mouse and my drawing tablet are laggy.

Here's a list of steps for reproduction of the issue. (My problem is that curves drawn with the pencil tool are automatically partially straightened, especially when drawing quickly. Here's a link to a video of the problem: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6673728#6673728)
    1. Open a new document and select the Pencil tool.
    2. Pencil Mode should be set to Smooth. In properties, set Smoothing to 0.
    3. Draw a line either using a Wacom tablet, Cintiq, mouse or Mac trackpad. Wait to release the stylus/mouse button and look at the representation of your gesture.
    4. Release the stylus and see how Flash rounds your curve inaccurately or straightens a section of it.
    5. Illustrate a variety of curve shapes at varying speeds, especially quick ones.
    6. Zoom in to about 800% and repeat the drawing steps to see more enhanced problematic drawing representations.
Results: Drawing with the pencil tool is erratic and does not represent input, especially quickly drawn curves.
Expected results: The pencil tool in Flash CC should perform accurately as it did in versions CS5.5/CS6.

  • Problem with imported .AI into Flash (performance issue/frame lag)

Hi Flash people i have a problem:
    Background:
i am creating a flash file (old school frame animation with a little AS2) to be used on big screens (in a child libray)
    i am importing diffeent files (some PNG some SWF images and Some .AI out of Illustrator) hee is the problem;
The file is BIG 1920+1200px (non scallable) all works fine until the movie hits the imported .Ai file(s) which are
browser views remade in full vecto in illustrator in 1200x800px - i have a simple image transition fom a PNG image
to the browser view (this view is pretty similar to a facebook frontpage in terms of content and text/image distribution.
the transition is 20-25 frames (in 31fps) and works fine with PNG but whrn the .AI frame is loaded the movie solws down
by factor 10 and it takes several seconds (5-8sec.) to play through the 1sec transition.
I have tried to export the same AI page as SWF out of illustrator and the esult is basically the same = exteme frame lag.x
how do i get about this?
i know the 1920x1200px is HUGE for a fullscreen transition/fade, but then again... it should work right?
any ideas? - any other vector formats does a better job (and yes it HAS to be vector as i am also doing some looking class effects)
thjis is really frustrating and the fist time since 96  i have hit the wall with flash :-/ - i have tried everything i know, perhaps overlooking the obvious?

  • Flash version 11 causing lagging in videos when mouse moves

Hi, new to this forum.. I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing serious frame-dropping & video lagging on YT videos when moving the mouse/touchpad across the video page?
Using Vista 32-bit on a 232 gig dual core system.. laptop is in great shape, responsive,Ccleaned regularly & has 50% free space
I've tried most everything my amateur geek head could think of to repair this but no joy . Maybe I've missed a thread or something obvious that some of you might think of.
Please help !! and Thank you all in advance :-/

Well, first thing I'd try is to update to our latest 11.5 release to see if that helps.  I'd also recommend updating your touchpad drivers, as it sounds like there's a conflict there.  If it doesn't help, the next thing I'd try is reverting back to 10.3.
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

  • Flashing BIOS went horribly wrong... (or is there a way to resurect it?)

I tried flashing to an older BIOS but somewhere along the way got caught out by a few surprises.
Mainly from what I've read here while trying to solve my problem, is that a low battery (CMOS) can cause a few problems when flashing.  I kept getting a CMOS Checksum error.
The problem is that no matter how I clear or reset this MB, it will not boot to floppy to reflash the BIOS.  (I did replace the CMOS battery)
The question I have is;  Is there something else I can try to get this MB to boot, and if not is it worth trying to replace the BIOS chip or should I just chalk it up to experience and pickup a new MB?  ( I live in the middle of nowhere Canada so access to specialized parts is iffy unless mail ordered.  I can pickup a replacement MB for CAD$80)
    Opinons welcome on this one.
    Thanks,
    Zen.

post your mobo and system details, see if your mobo has a socket BIOS or is soldered, if is socketed then you can change the bios, also if you have a friend or somebody with the same mobo you can reflash your bios making a hot swap with the working mobo. good luck
    Oops,
It is a Neo Platinum  (7030) MB in an Antec Sonata Case, 2*512 OCZ memory, Seagate 120Gb SATA HD,  ATI 9800Pro.
The BIOS is socketed, but I don't know anyone who might have another MB like mine.  (Stupid question:  If BIOS doesn't boot in my machine, how do you reflash it in another PC?  Wouldn't it be just as dead if moved to another MB?)
    Thanks,

  • Horrible Lag when using certain Tools - Have great video card

I hope you guys can help me.
Whenever I use any of the Blur tools or the Brush tools i have *incredible* video lag.  It's to the point I don't even have enough control to get the job done.  Everything else works flawlessly.
I have a ATI Radeon HD 5870 with 2 gigs of RAM.  I'm assuming that card is more than enough..
This is with version 9 if that helps.
Anywa help or idea would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Spot on, amazing advice.
I hope others that are plagued with these problems see this as well!
Thank you so much.  I just tried it out and I'm able to use the tools I haven't been able to touch for months!

  • Sherwin Williams paint visualizer flash performance is horrible

I'm checking few different colors in Sherwin Williams paint visualizer that uses flashplayerplugin_11_9_800_94.exe*32.
The picture I uploaded is only 600kb but the plugin increase beyond 3GB RAM just after few minutes of changing colors.
I tried both Firefox and IE and  performance is horrible.
Browser does not respond when saving a color scene for more than 10 minutes and comes back finally.
No other tabs are browsable when this is going on.
Also, it takes so long to come back that it displays an error that the changes could not be saved and to try again later.
Then, moving mouse on the app is not smooth, it stutters, moves, disappears etc...
    It's a core i7 desktop with 12GB RAM.
I let it sit there without touching it for 15 minutes and the memory stayed around 3GB with going up to 3.3GB at times without my interaction.
What the hell is taking that much resource?

    Update:
I used the same app in google chrome and it doesn't take resource like in IE and Firefox.
RAM usage was only 19mb all the time and it did open another instance with around 5mb RAM so total around 25mb from two instances of Flasplayerplugin in Chrome.
I did get 'Unable to save scene. Try later' message but that's from Sherwin-Williams site.
My PC still normal after 1/2 hour of playing with the app.
So what's the issue with IE and Firefox?
The same app uses over 3GB of RAM in those browsers (IE and Firefox).

  • LONG lag time switching from other programs to Flash

    (Intec-Mac - OSX - 1.5 GB RAM)
Has anyone heard of this before? Any time I switch from any
other open program to a project in Flash, I get a super long wait
time before I'm able to work with Flash again. The lag time
only happens when switching to Flash (I get the spinning
ball of death while the Flash menus load again -EVERY time!)
This happens no matter if I have just Flash open and I'm
switching from the finder back to it or if I have 15 programs open
    at once...
It is super frustrating and slowing down my workflow between
Flash and any other programs! I just uninstalled and reinstalled
hoping it would help but got same result - Any help?

Your best bet at this point in time is more RAM, since the
    Flash IDE on
mac is only PPC at this time it runs emulated in Rosetta on
    Intel macs,
and I've noticed swap times can be quite slow, this is not
    unique to
Flash in my experience, it happens whenever I swap in a
    resource
intensive app. Parallels is another prime example - and it is
    intel
    native.
Adobe engineers appear to have a new found love of the Mac,
    so we can
only hope the intel native version ships it will be super
    zippy.

  • Any ideas for reducing lag in my animation (flash cs6)?

I'm creating something for a local college in Flash CS6 and it lags in a couple spots (in the very beginning after clicking enter and after clicking on a location on the map) and it would obviously be really nice to get rid of that lag. The only thing i know to try in order to help with lag is to break down all grouped artwork and to convert tweens into frame by frame. I've done this and it hasn't changed anything so I was hoping someone else would have another idea. Ive uploaded the swf and flash file to dropbox. What is in the dropbox is not the final product I need to add the videos thats are going to be in it (they pop up once you press the play button) but other then the videos that is as complicated as the file is going to get. This lag started happening from the get go of working on this project once I had the barebones of the menu system figured out. It hasn't gotten any worse since then even after all the things I've added.

    Thanks in advance.

    Optimization Techniques
Unfortunately, I know of no completely satisfactory way to organize this information. In what follows, I discuss memory management first with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order. Then I discuss CPU/GPU management with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order.
That may seem logical but there are, at least, two problems with that organization.
I do not believe it is the most helpful way to organize this information.
Memory management affects CPU/GPU usage, so everything in the Memory Management section could also be listed in the CPU/GPU section.
Anyway, I am going to also list the information two other ways, from easiest to hardest to implement and from greatest to least benefit.
Both of those later listings are subjective and are dependent on developer experience and capabilities, as well as, the test situation and test environment. I very much doubt there would be a consensus on ordering of these lists.  Nevertheless, I think they still are worthwhile.
    Easiest to Hardest to Implement
    Do not use Filters.
Always use reverse for-loops and avoid do-loops and avoid while-loops.
Explicitly stop Timers to ready them for gc (garbage collection).
Use weak event listeners and remove listeners.
    Strictly type variables whenever possible.
Explicitly disable mouse interactivity when mouse interactivity not needed.
Replace dispatchEvents with callback functions whenever possible.
Stop Sounds to enable Sounds and SoundChannels to be gc'd.
Use the most basic DisplayObject needed.
Always use cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix with air apps (i.e., mobile devices).
    Reuse Objects whenever possible.
Event.ENTER_FRAME loops: Use different listeners and different listener functions applied to as few DisplayObjects as possible.
Pool Objects instead of creating and gc'ing Objects.
    Use partial blitting.
    Use stage blitting.
    Use Stage3D.
    Greatest to Least Benefit
Use stage blitting (if there is enough system memory).
    Use Stage3D.
    Use partial blitting.
Use cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix with mobile devices.
Explicitly disable mouse interactivity when mouse interactivity not needed.
    Do not use Filters.
