Flash 11.6 doesn't play on Firefox 20

Since updating to Flash 11.6 and Firefox 20 videos wont play (Windows XP Pro).
What I have found:
No error message or request to install/update shows; just a blank field which I can't interact with via mouse or keyboard.
Videos do play on Google Chrome version 26.
When I disable the 11.6 the embedded frame briefly shows "The plug-in is disabled" then shows "The adobe flash player is required for video playback".
The add-on manager show's the current flash plugin enabled.
The Adobe test page doesn't show the version of flash installed or an error message; again just an empty field where either should be.
When checking the Tools >Page Info > Media for the page the embedded .swf line is greyed out.
I've tried the recommended suggestions for similar issues listed below without success.
reinstalling Flash 10.3
reinstalling Flash 11.6
running in protected mode on 11.6
clearing cookies and cashe in firefox.
restoring firefox and restarting in firefox safe mode.
I'm no IT person but I've given you all the information I can think may be useful but hasn't helped me any.

Pat,
I wound up uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox after trying both your recommendations which were needed (driver was way out of date and 11.7 just released today).  Doing a clean install of Firefox 20 seemed to do the trick as it's now working.  The issue seems to reside in the Firefox update and not with Flash.
Thanks for your help.

  • Adobe Flash 11.4 doesn't work on firefox

I am currently using windows 7 and firefox 14.0.1
After updating to the latest version of adobe, which is 11.4, anything that requires flash doesn' work. I have tried this on internet explorer 9 and google chrome, which worked perfectly. So, the issue here is that adobe flash 11.4 doesn't work on firefox; also, the browser worked fine before the update. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, for example: youtube.com, it would say an error occurred; otherwise, those that requires flash would display a white box instead.
    For C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash:
These are the files within it:
    -FlashInstall- text doc.
    -FlashUtil64_11_4_402_265_Plugin app
    -NPSWF64_11_4_402_265.dll app extension
    C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash:
    -FlashPlayerTrust folder
    -FlashInstall text doc.
    -flashplayer.xpt file
    -FlashPlayerPlugin_11_4_402_265 app
    -FlashPlayerUpdaterService app
    -FlashUtil32_11_4_402_265_Plugin
    -mms.cfg
    -NPSWF32_11_4_402_265.dll
Thanks for your reply to my issue.

  • Youtube has stop working properly, just goes to the end and doesn't play. Firefox ver. 30.0

I've been using Youtube fine for years in Firefox but all of a sudden yesterday videos doesn't play right from Youtube in Firefox. The video tries to load for a bit then just goes to the end and if I click the play button it's stuck in endless loading.
It seems to be only a Youtube plus Firefox related problem. Dailymotion and other flash videos from other websites loads right and I can load Youtube videos in Internet Explorer just fine.
I've tried many methods in the search related threads here in the support section and they were of no help. I've uninstalled and reinstall Flash multiple times. I'm truly lost now on what to do here. I would like to continue using Firefox as my main browser.

    Hello,
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

  • Vimeo doesn't play in Firefox 35 ... help, please

I used to be able to view retreat videos from Tricycle magazine. However, they have apparently switched to Vimeo, and I can't get any of them to work now. I even went to the Vimeo site, and none of the sample videos there work in Firefox, either! I really don't want to have to go to Internet Explorer. Can you help?

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the <b>about:plugins</b> page.
You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

  • Sound Doesn't Play on Firefox.... It works fine on internet explorer. I made sure that it was not muted in the sound board. Please help!!!!

    Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/No%20sound%20in%20Firefox?s=sound&r=0&as=s this] and the related links. You can also try to adjust the controls on the web page.

  • Firefox doesn't play embedded swf

I've looked on many forums, including Firefox, with no real answer. Running Firefox 4. It just doesn't play embedded SWF. My Adobe Flashplayer is up to date, so is the plugin. The page displays properly. But the area that should be displaying a movie is just represented by a tiny square. No error message appears. The same page doesn't show the movie in IE9 either.
Now from looking at the page information, it just requires Flashplayer 6 and above for the SWF area. I do have Flashplayer 10. The plugin says Shockwave Flash player 10 is up to date. Many other pages with different types of embedded movies play properly.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Also check that you aren't blocking cookies.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Note that a reset imports cookies, so isn't really suited if cookie issues are a possible cause, unless you clear the cookies.

  • PLEASE HELP! Flash not playing in Firefox or Chrome after install!

PROBLEM: Have updated to all newest versions of Firefox, Flash, Shockwave, etc., Updated Nvidia Driver as well - My OS is 32 bit, have uninstalled and installed Adobe Flash 10.3.183.10  - install is always successful and plugins are avail however willt load content in firefox or chrome, was able to play youtube but in other sites after page content downloads get white box and flash message says: Movie did not load
I have attempted many of the troubleshooting suggestions and after each reboot, end up still unable to play image.  I did note in the newest version of Firefox it stated that the Java was not compatible and disabled the plug in? is this the problem>and how to fix>workaround if so????
Will provide any additional info if needed! thanks!!!!!!!!
below is screenshot of what I get repeatedly since updating Flash Friday morning (9/23)

Same deal for me - I'm unable to get Chrome or Safari to play flash files - on our site...www.lindsaytruffler.com - a flash movie is supposed to play underneath where it says "welcome to Lindsay Truffler on the web"- it doesn't and then if I right-click - it says movie not loaded.  This happens on both Windows and Mac at different locations.  Windows is Win 7 64 Bit, Mac is Snow Leopard.  Flash version says it's You have version 11,0,1,152 installed and that appears to be the latest update.

  • Installing flash 11 player for IE makes videos no longer play on firefox

The latest version of flash doesn't play videos on Firefox. So, I uninstalled flash and installed an older version. This solved my problem. However, when I instal the latest version of flash on IE, videos stop playing again.
I tried all sort of things like disabling different extension/plugin etc.
I think that if I could download an older version of flash both in Firefox and IE it will solve my problem. But I am not sure how to download an older flash for IE.

Did you try to disable protected mode in the Flash plugin?

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1055848
I did reset firefox. It started working but annoyed with pop-up adds. I installed Ad Blocker. It stopped working.
It look like Firefox 37.0.1 does not like some of the add_ons/plugins installed on previous version.
How do I block pop_up adds, malware, tracking etc in Firefox 37.0.1 ?
Why does some videos are working and other are not?
    Thanks for helping.

Does it make a difference if you use a Flash based player or a HTML5 media player?
Are you using the HTML5 media player or the default (Flash based) player?

  • Firefox doesn't play video and audio, cann't download anything!

A very strange problem occurred a few days ago. I didn't pay attention on it at first ( I thought it was caused by my provider) but now I found that it's a real problem. Firefox doesn't play video or audio. For instance, it starts loading and that's all. The same is with playing music. In addition, I can't download any files and view a big image as quick as early.
What is more interesting sometimes Firefox just begins to work in ordinary way.

There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might also work.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give this player a try:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • Flash content does not play in Firefox

    PROBLEM:
Videos and Flash content hang in Firefox. The screen is grey and the twirling circle is frozen. This is a recent problem; this behavior is new and it is unclear what has changed in my system.
    1. The problem does not occur with I.E.
    2. Win8 , Firefox, and Flash plug-in are current.
    3. Running Firefox in safe mode does not help.
    4. I have removed and reinstalled Firefox , Flash, and RealPlayer
    5. Java is working.
    ''temporary'' SOLUTION:
    Deleted RealPlayer
    ''edited by a moderator''

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:
    * [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]

  • Why the hell ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 10.2 DOESN'T WORK on Firefox 4???

Adobe Flash Player 10.2 doesn't work on firefox 4. I downloaded 10 times, I installed and again, "Please install ADOBE FLASH PLAYER"

You appear to have it installed twice. Your system specs show you have both Shockwave Flash 9.0 r28 and Shockwave Flash 10.2 r159 installed.
What I suggest you do here is to uninstall Flash using Adobe's uninstaller which you can download from here: [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
Close Firefox before you run the uninstaller, then reboot.
Then manually install Flash using this file: [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe] Close Firefox again before you run it.
