Flash 8 1904 Install Error
I don't know if this was already covered in another topic but
here it is just in case it wasn't. I read a lot forums where people
were having an issue with installing Flash 8. They were unable to
register flash8.ocx. Trying to register the ActiveX control gave a
DllRegisterServer + 0x80070005 error (access denied).
To resolve the issue do the following:
1. Open regedit with a admin account
2. Browse to the following regkeys and assign local admins
full permission to the keys and then delete them.
HKCR\ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.X
HKCR\MacromediaFlashPaper.MacromediaFlashPaper
HKCR\FlashFactory.FlashFactory.X
HKCR\FlashProp.FlashProp
HKCR\FlashProp.FlashProp.X
After you do this, reinstall Flash 8. This should resolve the
issue.

then manually download and install the correct player for your browser: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Adobe Captivate 4 - Flash Not Installed Error
We are using Adobe Captivate 4 on Windows 7. Since the Microsoft Windows Updates around January 8, we are unable to open Adobe Captivate 4. We get the message that the Flash Player is to be installed and the application shuts down after the message that an Internet connection is required. I have followed the steps on the Adobe Help page: Error: "Adobe Flash Player is not currently installed" when you start Adobe Captivate with no success. I have even uninstalled Adobe Captivate 4, reinstalled it and followed the instructions on the aforementioned Help page. No luck. I am running Firefox and Internet Explorer and IE is the default browser. Adobe Captivate 4 acts as though it cannot connect to the Adobe Flash website, but I already have the most current Flash Player installed. We use Adobe Captivate 4 primarily for Quizzes since we can effectively e-mail the results to trainers. We do have Adobe Captivate 7 and the Quiz Results e-mail feature does not send the results; only a blank e-mail shell. Is there any solution to this Captivate 4 problem?
Unfortunately, that is not an option. I work for a state government and the computers are locked down for security reasons. Updates are handled by an IT group and pushed out to all state computers. We were running Flash Player 10 and everything worked fine until the Flash Player Update was pushed out as a Microsoft Update on January 8th. There have been subsequent "Security Updates" to the Flash Player pushed out via Microsoft and none have corrected the problem. Even if I could uninstall the current Flash Player and install an older version, it would just be updated to the current Flash Player tonight.

I have gone through the clean install process for Flash player on Mac OS X (10.9.5) a few times, it is still failing. Any help figuring this out would be greatly appreciated. Here is the log:

I have spent hours trying resolve the Adobe Flash Player 14 update error. It seems I have tried everything, looking from site to site, suggestion to suggestion. Now using the uninstall, I have NO Flash at all in my Safari.
Nothing works. Has anyone finally definitively figured this out? Adobe's suggestions are useless.

Adobe Flash has so many incompatibility and security issues with Safari, you would be better of using the Chrome browser as Flash is integrated in Chrome.

Good to have a backup browser installed in case you have internet connection issues with Safari.
If you don't want to use Chrome, restart your Mac then try reinstalling Flash > Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Before you do that, open System Preferences. Do you see Flash Player at the bottom of the System Preferences pane? -
Flash Player Install Error: Memory can not be "written"
Actual error (with fake addresses because I get a different address each time it fails this way) is

So far I have used the uninstall_flash_player.exe and tried the reset_fp10.cmd with the MS subinacl.exe tool. I have used a registry
scrubber (RegScrubXP) and re-tried all of the above. I still can not get the flash player to load and I still get the error each time I try. I have run IE8 manage add-ons and the flash player is not listed. I am at my wit's end, I have searched everywhere and tried everything. This is a brand new computer with very little other than MS products loaded. Nothing is loaded that is not loaded on my other 3 computers that run flash player 10 just fine. I have run complete diagnostics on mt Thinkpad t500 and all checks out.

Browser: Microsoft IE 8I had the same problem as previous described. Some how I lost Flash Player. The first indication I got was when I went to Utube site and tried to view aa clip. It came back with an error saying I had java turned off or Flash Player was not installed. It gave me link to install flash player and tried to install it and failed with memory written error. The error message also said it was coming from Abode DLM. I was also at the point that a banner appeared that said an Adove system was trying to install and add on DLM. This also caused IE to hang and it took quite sometime to close the IE to get out this hang condition with a bunch of error reports being sent to MIcrosoft. After going to Sun System and testing my Java which it said was ok, I tried to install flash player. Same thing happen.again. I download Flash Player uninstall and ran it. Tried install again. Same results. I found Adobe tech note how to uninstalled DLM. I found none of the modules that it indicated should be deleted. I tried installing Acrobat Reader which I already have on the system same error. I found this forum and tried manual loading of Flash Player and that worked. Now things are working ok except that if I try to download Flash player It still fails but the error has changed a little. I hear the beep to approve the install of DLM addon but IE fails cleanly and when I close the window said had the following error. I think the problem is DLM add on related.

Some process is using the Flash Player and is preventing the uninstall/install of the version you are attempting to install. Please ensure all products that may use the Flash Player (browsers, Instant Messaging clients, and others) are closed and nothing is using Flash Player. Also check Task Manager and ensure Flash Player related processes are not running (they'll have 'FlashPlayer' or 'FlashUtil' in the name).

Keep getting "General Install Error" when installing Flash Player 13 on Mac OSX 10.9.3
For about 2 weeks now I've been getting software update notifications for Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat X. Every time I run the update install I get an error that will not allow it finish. For Flash specifically that error says "General Install Error". I've uninstalled all of these programs to try to correct this error, now they are unable to be reinstalled due to this error. Please help!

To confirm, did you actually terminate the Safari process, or simply close the Safari windows? If you closed just the browser window, the Safari process was not terminated. Please refer to How do I quit Safari (or another browser/app) in OS X.

Adobe Flash Player (General install error) *****! Mach_Kernal missing?
Never had a problem updating Adobe Flash Player over the last maybe 10 times, It downloads to 50% and then bottoms out with a (general install error) message. So the I uninstalled and tried to re-install to no avail.
I don't know if I updated since updating to 10.8.5 but I read that the (Mach_Kernal) was found on people's (Documents) folder and some people deleted this but I don't remember if I ever got this when I updated. This was a blunder when updating to 10.8.5 and Apple was aware of it.
If that file isn't there is will cause Adobe Flash Player to fail.
I tried several Sudo commmands in Terminal to find the invisible (Mach_Kernel) file but when I type that in it just comes up with a message (No such thing found) Then I tried another Sudo command which would install it if it was missing and it comes up with the same thing (no such file or directory found).
Anyone know where this file resides and what folder it's in and can direct me exactly how to get to it to find out if it's still on my machine? As I said the Sudo commands came up with no results.
Thanks for your responses!I don't know what you mean by clone your setup. Exactly what the whole OS? on an external drive. I do have an external drive but don't know how to back up the whole OS.
You use a separate partition (much preferably on a different physical drive) to make an exact copy of your current startup drive. At any time, you can choose to boot to it. Time Machine is a nice idea in that it automatically keeps various iterations of your data for you so you can go back to older versions of a document and such, but is (in my personal opinion) the clumsiest way possible to restore a hard drive.
You can create a clone with Disk Utility, SuperDuper!, or Carbon Copy Cloner. The last two are third party apps which can perform extra abilities to make clone backups easier. I use the registered version of SuperDuper! myself, but CCC works just as well.
Once you make a clone of your startup drive, it is just what it implies. You have an exact copy of whatever drive you clone to another drive/partition. So instead of going through the very roundabout way of restoring a drive by reinstalling the OS and attaching a Time Machine backup to the reinstall on the fly, you simply boot to your clone and copy it back. Done. Takes way, WAY less time to get back up and running.
But if I do a re-install from that it'll bring back my lost stuff but will also bring back the old crap again. So what good would it do.
Yes, that could be an issue, but at least you'd be back to your last Time Machine backup state.

Open the App Store app and click on Store > View My Account. Click on the Manage link to unhide redownloadable purchases. Unhide Mountain Lion so it appears under the Purchases tab again.
Where did you read that Apple fixed this 10.8.5 Kernal problem?
A few users noted it on these forums about a week after the bug was noticed. They said the 10.8.5 update and full download of ML were fixed. I haven't checked it myself. It's very easy to properly hide the mach_kernel file if necessary.
Enter this in Terminal, or copy/paste the line below into Terminal:
sudo chflags hidden /mach_kernel
It will then ask for your admin password to complete the command. After that, the kernel should be hidden.

Yes, that is what would happen. I don't think you have any control over an OS/Time Machine reinstall. You will always be put back at your last backup state.

You absolutely should not have to. Once purchased, it's yours. I've got Lion and Mountain Lion on bootable USB drives I made from the downloads. I can boot my Mac to those at any time and reinstall the OS. I'm going to do the same thing with Mavericks, just haven't done it yet. -
Flash Player Auto Upgrade ver 14, Won't Install: Error- Unable to Register
The Flash Player Upgrade attempted to install but stopped and gave me an error: Unable to Register. I have been all through the forums and I believe I have tried everything suggested. These have been my attemptsOS - Windows XP Pro, latest updates loaded.
1- I read a suggestion to attempt a "clean install" . I watched the YOUTUBE video that was on the page and followed it exactly. 2- I also downloaded the SubInACL file and the reset_fp10.zip file, followed the instructions and ran the file. Attempted to re-install ver 14 and got the same error, unable/failed to register.
3- I have attempted this numerous ways, rebooting the computer in between each change, re-booting after I did all, and nothing seems to work.
4- Downloaded Mozilla Firefox at someones suggestion, attempted to download and install, still the same error.
5- When I open AOL, it attempts to install Flash Runtime and the same thing happens. Error, Failed to Register.
6- Purchased a Registry Editor/Cleaner. Ran this cleaner and it did speed up my computer. Did clean uninstall of Flash Player making sure no files were on my computer. Same error.
7- Finally, contacted Adobe by phone. The tell me they can help and try to fix the problem, but it will cost me $39.95 per instance. And, I didn't get any warm feeling that there was a gaurantee that they could fix it. In fact, i could hardly understand the indian speaking tech support.
8- I also was told that after 1pm EDT, the new Adobe help page would be up and there would be a fix on it. Now, 3:20 EDT, and the page is still not up.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix this. I want to avoud the "F" word ,,, Format and re-install from scratch just to get this fixed.I'm using WinXP (Home Edition) with Service Pack 3, and IE ver 8. When I tried the auto upgrade to Ver 14, I got the same results as you -- "failed to register". Like you, I tried to install a previous version of FlashPlayer and got the idotic response "you need to install the latest version, Ver 14" which caused all the problems.
Maybe the brainworks at Adobe can develop a fix soon.
If not, I will never install another Adobe product on my newer Win8 computer. -

Hi, I want to report a problem with the Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.182 (Mac OS X, English) installer on OS X 10.9.2. Mavericks. I'm posting this so the engineers will know what to fix in the next update version.
I have a 2013 iMac so according to Adobe blog posts it shouldn't be affected by the invalid cpu instruction issue.
Symptom is the first installer downloads the 2nd, starts to launch it, then quits it with "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation" and a green (success?) checkmark. The GUI provides no other assistance except to "FINISH", which leads to the generic "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." page.
The system log says: Adobe Flash Player Install Manager[22567]: Install failed with error code: 30.

Regardless... I still recommend "falling back" to 12 until they get this release right for everyone. I've read plenty of posts in the Apple forums from new iMac, Mini and MacBook users who've had nothing but trouble. Even the "gurus" there are linking to Chris Campbell's post here:

Installed newest Flash Player, "An error occured" message on Youtube videos not working
I have the latest version of Flash Player (12.0.0.70) and Firefox (27.0.1) installed but I'm getting the "An error occured" message within 1 or 2 seconds of playing a YouTube video. If I uninstall Flash from the computer it works perfectly. Why is this happening? This isn't happening on my other computer which has the same versions installed.
I tried disabling ProtectedMode for Flash Player, completely uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing the cache and cookies, etc. It just won't work if Flash is installed. I'm stumped. Help would be appreciated.Did you also try to disable hardware acceleration in the Flash player plugin?

I have a Retina Display Macbook Pro running 10.8.3 with Safari at 6.0.3. I can not install Adobe Flash 11.7.700.169 on it. I get an error "Actionlist Not Found". All browsers are closed at the time and the Plug-ins ARE enabled. No previous version of Flash is installed. Any thoughts?
