Flash 8 Video Encoder problems

I used Video Encoder to convert a .mpg file. When I imported
it into Flash the audio plays but no picture. I then used IMtoo
MPEG 3 encoder to convert it to an MPEG file. This time I got
picture and audio but the picture and audio were very choppy.
Does anyone have a clue why? Or perhaps suggest another app
that will convert the file to another format that I would have
better success converting to .flv without degradation?
THANKS!

I uploaded the MPG file and I also uploaded a directory with
the flash files (and a sample FLV file that works). I also tried
converting some other video clips that I have and they all worked
-- so I don't think it is the Flash player.
However, when I received the .MGP file (that I uploaded to
you) from a vendor (who videos for a speaker's bureau) and
converted it to a FLV file using Video Encoder 8. and then renamed
it to motif_200kbps.flv in order to have it play in the video
player template that I uploaded to you.... I got sound, but no
video. Regarding posting the video file that I uploaded to you, I
am unsure of the consequences of that ... so perhaps I will email
the file to Jeckyl.
Now I am really confused, because the file
"motif_200kbps.flv" works fine for me - video and sound are there.
Are you using Flash Player 8 or 9 to view the final SWF? If you are
using Flash player 7 then there is your problem.

  • Flash video encoder slow

I'm trying to convert a 4.5 minute *.avi to *.flv and am
having some difficulty. Flash Video Encoder says I have about 15.5
hours remaining (am 0.5 hours into the process). That seems wholly
unreasonable given the fact that it took me all of maybe 5 minutes
to save it as an XviD-encoded *.avi with VirtualDub...
Any ideas as to how I can speed this up?

I'm having a similar problem - but my issue has to do with
why the time to encode on my Mac Pro is slower than on my
    associate's Power Mac G5.
I'm using the Flash 8 Video Encoder to convert .mov files to
flv files on a group license. On my station I have the following:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 12 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
    SMC Version: 1.7f10
I've got 151 GB available on my system drive.
Presently, it is taking me approximately 2 hours 45 minutes
to convert a 6 minute 26 sec mov to a flv with custom settings of:
    Max Date Rate: 300 kbps
    Frame Rate: Same as Source
Audio Data Rate: 48 kbps (mono)
    500 x 333 pixels.
HOWEVER, on an associate's computer he is able to convert
under the same specs, same files, etc. in 1 hour 40 minutes.
    His computer specs are:
    Power Mac G5
    Processor Speed - 2.3 GHz
    2-CPU's
    L2 Cache - 1 mb per CPU
    Memory - 16 GB
    Bus Speed 1.15 GHz
My computer has much more powerful processor, so we're
confused why it's taking longer on my computer.
I also have a second internal drive but presently the
programs and source file are on my system HD. Someone suggested
that I should try to make sure that the Video Encoder has max RAM
allocated to it as well as having the scratch disk and cache set to
the second internal drive. I don't know how to do this or even if
it's possible but looking for advice and suggestions on how to
better optimize the Video Encoder and would appreciate any help
    with this ASAP.
    Thanks!

  • CS3 Flash Video Encoder no sound

I have been using the Macromedia Flash FLV encoder for a very
long time, but now that I have upgraded to the CS3 Flash Video
Encoder the video gets encoded but the audio is always missing.
All my settings are the same as they always were and when I
encode an AVI to FLV the audio is missing. How do I fix
    this?

I to am having the same problem with the flash encoder. Added
a wmv file and a mov file to the queue and I get the same results.
I do however see the first frame of the movies. Cannot set in and

  • Flash Video Encoder - Sizing Video

    Hello
I have an uncompressed video at 720x486. I need to encode it
to Flash video at 640x480. When I import it into Flash Video
Encoder, I use the custom settings to output a 640x480 movie at
    30fps and 550kbps using the VP6 codec.
Flash video outputs a 720x486 movie.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

I've never had a problem with videos not being resized... and
    many times
I've made video thumbnails. How are you determining the
    output is incorrect
anyway? I'd guess it is your method that is wrong - if the
    encoder did not
resize properly this question would come up daily...and it
    doesn't.

  • Flash Video Encoding Bit Rate

    Hi All,
I have been working with Flash video telephony for many years now and its great to see AEC, AGC (acoustic gain control), UDP and H264 have arrived.
I spend much time simulating network conditions and devising algorithms which can produce video quality equal to Skype.
There are plenty of stats availabile (packet loss, in/outbound bit rate, frames dropped and so on) BUT....
The big issue is the inability for the flash video encoder(s) (H264 seems no better) to obey the target bit rate.
Rather than address this I believe Flash chooses to drop frames when it detects issues in local upload congestion.
However the ability to match the receivers download requirements is not possible. The encoder frequently bursts way above the configured bit rate resulting in packets loss or latency (UDP vs TCP). We end up having to go well below the target bit rate to compensate and take in to account that the higher the encoding quality the more likely flash is to burst over the specified rate. The whole effort is wasted unless this is addresses and Flash 11/H264 is worse than before.
If we have grossly overlooked something or you would like to see a link to a working example of the problem please let me know.
    Kind Regards

    Hi Ben
Could I see a link to a working example please?

  • Final Cut Pro, Flash Video Encoder & Flash Player

Well, let's get started.... I'm getting real frustrated with
Adobe. I emailed them about this problem two months ago and NEVER
got a response. This is extremely unacceptable product support. We
just purchased the Creative Suite Premium two months ago and have
never gotten Flash Video Encoder to properly encode a Quicktime
video exported from Final Cut Pro.
I have heard from a few on the Final Cut Pro forum on
Creative COW that there is a bug with this issue between Flash and
Final Cut Pro. Adobe doesn't seem to care if I report it, so that's
    why I am here.
I create my program as usual, export a Quicktime file (not
reference video, but a full self-contained Quicktime). BTW, I have
Quicktime 7.2 on my Mac Pro Quad 3.0 with 8 gig of RAM. I open
Flash Video Encoder to make my flash files. Import the Quicktime
and select my settings which are custom. I set it to encode and
wait for the encoding to be done. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to
encode a 23 minute program. After the encode is finished, I check
the Flash file by opening it up. BTW, I also have installed a copy
of On2 Flix Exporter, which encodes Flash files, too. The On2 Flash
player is the only player that works. Adobe's Flash player opens
but it won't open ANY Flash files.
    Has anyone seen this?

When I try to import it on FCPX it says "None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again." and even on Compressor it either doesn't play and fails to convert, or else it plays only a the audio but once I've completed the process the outputted file doesn't play anything.
Here's a screenshot at my different attempts to convert it. I managed to get the record the video on VLC, but I can't record the audio so I tried getting only the audio form Compressor as well, but like I said the outputted file doesn't play any audio even though it's as long as the video (36 mins approx.).

  • Flash video encoder and OS X

I have Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder on my Mac OS X and am trying to convert movies to .flv files. They encode OK, but on playback, the movies are consistently cut off in the middle. Seems other folks are having this problem and are getting no answers from Adobe. Some have said that Flash Video Encoder won't work correctly with Mac 0S X at all and that you have to encode videos using it on Windows. That seems ridiculous to me. Does anyone know anything about this or possible workarounds? Apparently, the issue also occurs with Flash 8's Video Encoder. I need to make flash videos!

  • Flash Video Encoder wont start up

I had this problem with my FVE 8 too. I have uninstalled
Flash video encoder 8 and deleted all prefs. Now, I am simply not
able to open CS3 Flash video encoder. Never been able to open it.
Tried everything to no avail. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm
on a Mac, have checked the crash reports but am unable to see
clearly what is causing the crash. Any help there would also be
    great. Thanks.

Trying updating all video codecs including quicklime player.
You should not have had to remove old flv encoder because they are
located in different places. CS3 is located in adobe folder where
as older versions are in macromedia folder.

  • Flash Video Encoder Quit Unexpectedly

I have an Intel iMac and when I first loaded my Adobe Suite
everything worked fine, but then the Flash Video Encoder stopped
working with "Flash Video Encoder Stopped Unexpectedly" and I
cannot get it to work again. I deleted the files and reloaded the
program from the original DVD and that did not work.
When I was setting up a new user on my iMac, I tried running
the Flash Video Encoder in the other user and it ran fine, but when
I returned to the main user, it would not start and gave the same
error. I'm relatively new to Macs - a bit more than a year - so I
suspect it is some setting or preference or something that I have
    wrong.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.
    -Brian-

I am getting the exact same error on my windows vista x64.
I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling quite a number of
times with no luck. I don't believe it is anything done wrong but
has to be some kind of bug in the installation somewhere.
Also any help would be appreciated.

  • Accessing Flash Video Encoder Programmatically

At the moment I am working on a batch program that will take
video files, and /encode them into FLVs. I would like to do this in
a programmatic (command line way), so that I can can embed this
    into a nightly batch process.
Can the Flash Video Encoder support this need?

As far as I know about FFMPEG, it does not encode using on2
vp6, which is the superior codec for flv. I too am looking for a
programmatic way of transcoding to flash using the on2 vp6 codec.
on2 has the Flix Engine SDK, which is quite expensive, but it
allows you to programmatically transcode using vp6.
If there is another product out there that can do this (at a
non-expensive cost) I would love to hear about it.

  • Flash Video Encoder for WMV - DW8 vs CS5

    Hi,
I'm trying to convert a WMV file into Flash.  I know that this can be done using DW8's Flash Video Encoder ....but it seems this function is no longer availabe in CS5.
I would be grateful if someone confirm that this understanding is true.

  • Flash Video Encoder Version Update

I have version 1.0 of the Flash Video Encoder. This came
bundled with Adobe Web Bundle (Macromedia Studio 8 - including
Flash Professional 8 and Adobe Creative Suite 2). I need version
1.2 or above in order to include metadata so my .flv files will
play in Captivate and on web pages. How can I get an upgrade of the
    Encoder?

You are mistaken about that I think. There is a Flash Video
Exporter for MX 04 that can go up to version 1.2. The Flash Video
Encoder that comes with Flash Pro 8 only goes to 1.0.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flash/mx2004/readme/fmxpro2004_video.html
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flashpro/productinfo/encoder/
So, does Captivate say it needs V1.2 of the Exporter or the
    Encoder? I don't have Flash MX04 so I don't know the
    difference.

  • Qmaster and Flash Video Encoder 8

Can I use Qmaster to set up a render farm to encode Quicktime movies to FLVs using Flash Video Encoder? If so, does anyone know where i can find the command lines samples to se up the Macs?

    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/AppleQmaster3_UserManual.pdf
Pages 18 and 29 should be helpful.
However, it might just be easier to encode to H.264.

It's part of the Flash Product.
