Flash 9.0r45 causing slowdowns?

I seem to be experiencing a problem when using Flash content
on my Mac (specs below) upon upgrading to Flash Player 9.0r45.
After viewing two or three pieces, my computer slows to a crawl;
for example, windows and menus take an incredibly long time to
draw, and my dock zooming is choppy. When I first experienced the
problem (not knowing what may have been causing it), I went to my
Activity Viewer to see if an app/process was misbehaving, and I
found that WindowServer was taking anywhere from 70 to 90 per cent
of my CPU. It wasn't until yesterday that I discovered this
slowdown seemed to occur after viewing Flash content. Logging out
fixes the slowdown issue, until the next time it happens, of
course.
I've since downgraded to 9.0r28, hoping that will solve the
problem for now, but I'm hoping that some tech genius at Adobe is
able to figure out what's going on and is able to fix this problem
in the next release. I'm currently using a Power Mac G4, upgraded
to dual 1.2 GHz processors (PowerPC 7447). My system has 640
megabytes of RAM, and has ample free hard drive space. I'm
currently running Mac OS X 10.4.9 (8P135) and Safari 2.0.4
(419.3).

Just a little update: downgrading to 9.0r28 has done nothing
to solve the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have access to any
older versions to see if they would work any better.

    OSX 10.6.8

If one user is listening to something via some kind of web (flash) media player, and the other user logs on, then this 'new' user is unable to listen to anything at all - all audio is blocked - not just web stuff
I know flash is the cause as I can go to task manager and kill the other person's flash plug in and the sound comes on instantly

    How can I fix this?

I've reinstalled flash and checked that I have the latest version but this is getting ridiculous
Everytime I want to use skype or itunes or iplayer, I have to log in as the other user, close down all their web browsers, then go back to my account to get it to work, much to the annoyance of the other user.

  • Flash plug in causes Firefox 4.0.1 (on Vista Business) to hang

Flash plug in causes Firefox4 (on Vista Business) to hang, on sites with flash content (videos, etc)
I tried everything I found in firefox forums (uninstalling - reinstalling the plugin, disabling hardware accelaration, etc ), but it was useless
I tried installing Firefox 5.0b2 and I have the same problem: with the flash plug in activated, I get CPU usage up to 100% and Firefox hangs...

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.
You can try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • Flash plugin is causing my Firefox to not respond--workaround?

Hi, I have Firefox 3.6.16 and Windows 7. By a process of elimination, I have determined that Shockwave Flash plugin is causing my Firefox to stop responding. The problem is that Flash is a pretty important plugin...is there any workaround for this or do I simply have to uninstall Flash (or leave Firefox!) Thanks.

This can be a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

I'm having a similar problem with Firefox. Every time I open

crash out directly, but will usually do so within 10-15

  • Flash Plugin is causing Firefox to freeze

Recently, all of my browsers have been acting up. I use Firefox mainly, but ever since this issue started popping up, I tried Chrome and IE and the same thing is happening there as well. Every time I load up a page with flash on it, the flash plugin crashes, causing my browser to freeze up for 30 seconds up to a minute (I get "Not Responding" at the top too). If I uninstall Flash from my computer, I have no problems at all, but the second that I re-install Flash, everything goes haywire and doesn't work anymore. Even when I reload the page, the plugin just crashes again immediately. I currently have Flash 10.3.181.34 installed. Running XP, and FF 5.0.1

Please upgrade your browser to Firefox 8 and check

  • The Flash plug-in causes Firefox to crash for about 2 minutes every 20 seconds, it is the newest Flash update. It has happened to me both with Firefox 3.6 and 4!

Firefox for me has been fine for the past couple of years or so. Then all of a sudden about 5 months ago, everytime i would use Firefox it would crash after browsing for about 1 minute. I uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. I then got sick of the problem and then used IE till now.
However, i heard about Firefox 4 and thought maybe this would fix it. Unfortunately, the same problem occurred! I then heard about being able to start Firefox with add-ons disabled to find any sources of problems, and i've found that the cause if Flash! It is the newest version and always has been, so i don't know what i can do, since Flash is important for most websites nowadays!?

Could you please do the following.
Download the following two files and save to your desktop. These are direct download links so you'll only see the dialog boxes which looks like the ones you see in the screenshot.
    * [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
    * [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe]
Next, close Firefox via File | Exit (''it's important that you do it this way and not just by clicking the close button'')
Next, double click the '''uninstall_flash_player.exe '''file you downloaded earlier and then '''reboot'''. A reboot is necessary to remove the setting from the Windows Registry.
Next, double click the '''install_flash_player.exe''' file to reinstall Flash.
Finally, restart Firefox and see if it made any difference.

  • Flash player continuously causes browsers to crash.

I have tried several things to resolve this problem. I originally had the lastest version of flash, and in attempting to play flash based games, I got an error messege saying Windows cannot continue to run flash player/activex 10 and will now close the program. I attempted this on IE8 and Firefox, and the error was the same, so I tried to see if flash 9 or restarting my computer would cause the same problem, and flash 9 as well caused my browsers to crash. I am running windows vista.

  • Flash Player is causing my Web Pages to flash like crazy Need help!

    I need help, I'm running a computer with Windows 98 4.10.1998
and Running Internet Explorer ver. 6.0.2800.1106IC
I had some problems I have fix eveything but when I got to a
    web page it wants
to install and run flash player if I do Install and run, all
    my web pages flash
like crazy every clickable icon or line flash the screen
    makes it flicker so hard
it is enough to give you a headache. Ad boxes on the pages
    flash like a lighting
strorm. How do I fix this? I never had this before, I ran the
    flash player debug file
    that made no change. Help!

Already checked the Event Viewer. The only thing I could find is this critical level event
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
This only happens when I am running a flash video in IE10. In Chrome everything works fine. I downgraded flash player to 11.4 but with no luck.
From the event viewer, the reboots started from sometime in september.(this is my parents' pc)
I think I found the problem. I changed my video card, a 9600GT, a few months ago with a GT630. I switched back to the 9600GT, and it looks like the issue is not happening any more. But it's still verry ackward for the issue to happen only on IE10.
I'm still testing to be sure that the video card is the problem.

  • Flash Player 10 causing a Google Analytics Admin Problem

Since I upgraded to Flash Play 10, inside the admin of Google Analytics is not working.  When I log in to Google Analytics, Flash Play 10 is a part of adjusting the dates and it is causing some type of error that I can't figure out.  All I want to do is be able to adjust dates within Google Analytics and I can't.
It happens in the three different browsers FireFox, IE and Chrome.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling an older version but it still isn't working.
The reason I believe it is the flash play is because when I open the date section in Analytics I can right click and it give me the option of 'About Adobe Flash Player" and shortly after updating I opened analytics and my browser crashed.
I am going to uninstall my browsers to see if that will work but if anyone else has had this problem and solved it please help me out.
    Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. Yes that does help in many cases. Sometimes updating the device drivers also.
The hardware acceleration sometimes can't be used by every system. You can read about the system requirements and what and how it works here:

  • Websites with flash content are causing tremendous CPU usage!!

    Greetings!
I finally installed the long-awaited version 4 of firefox, and I am really disappointed. In addition to slight sluggishness now and again, it turns out that websites with Flash content (even those sites with a little flash advertising banner) are causing my CPU usage to really go up.
It's slowing down my machine, making my CPU fans spin loudly, and making for a disappointing web browsing experience.
I have disabled all add-ons, and done the usual. Even tried installing Chrome for the first time ever!
The problem is definitely Flash + Firefox 4.
I have created a brand new profile, but no dice. Wondering if anyone else experiences a high CPU load on pages with flash...

Adobe Flash Player has also been crashing periodically on 2 of my computers, I'm still running XP, one of them a powerful HTPC, Dell Optiplex 755 SFF over a new Cable Internet Connection. Buffering, Lagging, crashing when streaming video for Catchup TV (Freeview) via Firefox Adobe Flash Player Add-On, does not happen on Youtube though. Lagging & Crashing does NOT occur AT ALL in Google Chrome, but I hate that browser.
Have tried the usual disabling Flash Hardware Acceleration + Protected Mode, setting storage to Unlimited, disabling FF Ad Blockers + Hardware Acceleration, cleaning Caches, updating program versions, everything bar reinstalling programs. It's not happening in Chrome, why in Firefox?

  • Migrating from older Flash Pro versions causes Auto Formatting to malfunction

I have recently upgraded my Flash CS4 to Flash CS5 on my MAC, and Flash CS5 to Flash CS5.5 on my PC, these upgrades are causing the Flash Auto Formatting feature to malfunction, it somehow becomes a tool that breaks my code and causes errors while exporting, instead of simply re-arranging the lines.
This is happening with all my codes and all my projects, not a specific line of code.
Anybody has a clue how to fix this? Is there some sort of an Adobe update for this?
    Thanks folks!

Nope it is just badluck, i just answered this on another thread but google it im sure there is a way to fix this, i am sure of it.
but next time FINISH your projects before moving computers or flash versions because you might encounter this.
I have no problems with changing versions but changing computers OS is pretty understandable to cause errors.
    hope this helped.

  • [SOLVED] Pure systemd (systemd-sysvcompat) causes slowdown

Apologies in advance for the vague issue report: i'm not too sure how to go about diagnosing the problem.
I've set up systemd as directed in the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/sy … stallation
Things work just fine for the "mixed" installation.
However, when i go all in and install systemd-sysvcompat, i notice a considerable slowdown in the performance of my computer.  (E.g. flash videos are laggy when watching full screen, and some code i'm working on takes 10s on a particular benchmark vs. 2s with the mixed install.)
When i run "top" there's nothing using a copious amount of CPU or memory that could explain the slowdown.
I guess that either there's something different in the daemons that run.  Maybe there's some cpu power management or something not being enabled.  Well, i don't know really, hence the post!
Any idea how i can go about tracking this one down?
    Thanks.
edit: [SOLVED], well disappeared on its own...
After reinstalling initscripts, rebooting, then reinstalling systemd-sysvcompat (removing initscripts), and making the required changes to /boot/grub/menu.lst, things seem to be back to full speed...  Weirdness.  Apologies for posting too soon.
