Do you guys think that the next version of flash will include
Adobe's live
trace instead of the usual flash trace bitmap feature?

How to allow non-admin users to install software updates of Java, FLASH and Adobe Reader?

Hi all,
I have a company (+150 users) and I would like to allow users to update Java, FLASH and Adobe Reader only.
These software are already installed in the hosts, but there are updates of the program every week and it needs to be updated.
How can I give permissions to every user in the domain to do that? Just "Java, FLASH and Adobe Reader"
Remember that I dont want distribute software because they were installed.
I tried to enable "Enable user to patch evelated products" directive but it didn't work at my domain.
is it possible?

I have a method that works for FLASH player, but am trying to come up with a method for the other 2 myself. To automate flash player, I created a Policy and added the following:
Under Computer Config, Prefrences, Windows Setting, Files I created a new File Item.
I set Action = Replace, Created a Source File named mms.cfg* (more below) and have the destination file as systemroot%\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg (or %systemroot%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg for x64)
I used notepad to edit the mms.cfg, and used the following in the body:
AutoUpdateDisable=0
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
AutoUpdateInterval=0
My non-admin users now update flash in the background silently and automatically.

Flash and Adobe Reader XI

I am importing a swf file into a pdf file and my startDrag functions are not working anymore. They did with version X of the acrobat reader. I know that the reader has no own Flash-Player anymore.
I updated Flash to the recent version but still having problems wit drag and drop.

yes i can. i hope this could help. I attach a pdf file containing a swf-file. the white boxes on the left can be dragged and dropped. it worked
in the old reader version. but it does not with the newer xi version on windows. maybe you can check it out.

Can you post a sample file? Dragging elements on the Stage of an embedded rich media annotation ishould still work as it did before, provided you have installed the Acrobat Flash Player plugin, but it doesn't work between the Stage and other areas of the screen (or between two separate SWFs).

Flash and Go live

Hi
I have recently acquired Flash and I would like to place SWF
files in existing HTML pages, it works great in GO Live preview,
but when I go out to the web to check it out the SWF file is
replaced by a white box the size of the file..

Without seeing a full list of the files that you have, its impossible to know what you have. I'm guessing that you have a bunch of files that were used to create a web site. Go Live was an Adobe product that was used to write .html documents. When Adobe acquired Macromedia they abandoned Go Live and adopted Dreamweaver as their html tool. Livemotion was also an Adobe product what was a competitor to Macromedia's Flash. It had a very short life. The .sit file that you have may be a compressed copy of the actual application file for the Macintosh platform.
I doubt that there is any sort of "project" file that contains any information about the makeup of the project. There is, most likely, an index.html or default.html that should be the starting point for the site. If you start with that, you might be able to sort out the various files that you have and their relationship with each other.
You can open the .html files in any text editor or an html editor like Dreamweaver. Never, ever, open an html file in Word. If you have Flash .fla files, those can be opened in Flash. If you have Flash .swf files, you will need a decompiler to get to an editable file. The .liv files are from LiveMotion. You may or may not want to mess with those.

I need to download Adobe Macromedia Flash and Adobe won't let me download it until i get a 32 bit version of Firefox. Where on the website can I find this version?

I'm using Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.6 as a browser. I need to dowload some Adobe software like Flash and i can't do it because this version of firefox is a 64 bit app. I need a 32 bit FF app/where on the website can i dowload this?

You already have Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152 installed for Firefox on the PC you used to post here, see your ''More system details...'' next to your posting.
There are no 64-bit builds of Firefox made, only 32-bit currently. There are some 3rd party builds floating around out there, but Mozilla doesn't allow them to be named Firefox - they would be called Namoroka for 3.6 versions. Mozilla does have a Minefield 64-bit build for 4.0-pre versions, but it won't be available as Firefox until probably Firefox 5 is released.
If your situation is with a different PC than what you used to post here: 
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: 
[http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. 
Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, 
{XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
* On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).

Please find the step that you need to configure for Local ADS.
1 Testing the Adobe Document Service
Check the adobe services on JAVA System by using the
URL: http://hostname.domain:5xx00/wsnavigator
Click AdobeDocumentService->Click on Test ->rpData->then Send ->then enter ADSUSER and password.
2 Test the RFC Connection in ABAP Side
Goto SM59 and then check the RFC connection under the HTTP connection to external server.
this Rfc should point to its own .
3 Activate the ICF service in ABAP Side
Log on to your SAP Web AS ABAP system
Choose transaction SICF.
Choose default host u2192 sap u2192 bc u2192 fp in the tree.
Choose Service/Virt.Host u2192 Activate
4 Configuration in Destination Visual Admin
Create the destination FP_ICF_DATA_SID under HTTP
Under the Url give http://hostname.domain:80xx
User ADS_agent and password here.
5 Execute Following reports in ABAP Side
Goto se38 : Program name, Now Execute report FP_PDF_TEST_00
Now run the report FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE
once run this report without checking the destimation and after thet run with checking the destination box.both should return the same number of bytes as per note 944221

Flash and Adobe Air weird display on Ubuntu

I installed Flash on Ubuntu 12.04, and it has a very strange display. Here the way any flash application looks :
You can see in this image the same page displayed on the left by flash on Ubuntu, and on the right by flash on Windows.
I am experiencing the same problem with air installer and air applications. Here the way Adobe Air (2.6) installer looks :
The version 1.5 of Adobe Air displays right, but it's the only one.
Anyone experienced the same problem ?

I finally find what the problem was. It has nothing to do with either the server, neither Flash Player or Adobe Air.
The problem came from mstc window (remote desktop software). By default it was set to display 16bit colors. I might have changed it sometime to 15bit.
By setting it to 16bit, it solved the problem.

Duplicated Flash and Adobe Reader Files cannot be removed -- Help!

I've just had the pleasure of reloading my XP home OS. A backup file was created. Now that all has been restored I cannot remove the CMAP folder and contents as well as the Flash folder and contents from the back-up folder...I've downloaded the Adobe removal tool, but it only works on installed versions...this is a copy or backup. I've contacted the Adobe Chat folks and been told to caugh up a fee...not happening
Following a thread earlier posted, I attempted to follow the long list of steps published by Adobe to claim ownership of the files, and change security settings, and then remove the duplicated files. The problem is, the "tabs" refered to do not exist as options when starting the process by right clicking on 'Properties'.
Can anyone lend a hand?? Many thanks in advance!

Adobe marks key files as their own, preventing moving, erasing, etc. XP Home does not offer the security tab feature to take ownership of the files, and then deal with them
After some serious efforts, I have now removed the duplicated files, and made sure my installation of XP Home has the necessary security tab features to see all files, and take ownership of those that have been placed by a provider wanting to insure as much security as possible.
Hopefully, this brief overview of the solution will be of help to someone.

Linking Flash and Adobe Captivate

Greetings all;
I have a .swf file generated out of Adobe Captivate showing a
product demonstration. I also have an introduction to said
demonstration created in Flash CS3. What I want to do is link them
so that at the end of the intro the demo will play. I also would
like the demo to download while the intro is playing as the file is
15mb in size. I have added a second scene to the intro and placed
in frame 1 a command to load the movie (the Captivate movie). At
the end of the intro on Scene 1 I have a frame with a command to go
to scene 2 and play. It functions but the captivate .swf file has
not yet loaded when the scenes switch, hence causing a long break
between scenes.
Any thoughts and/or hints would be greatly appreciated.

I recently updated Adobe Flash and Adobe Shockwave, now Firefox will not load. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Help

Firefox never opens. It is trying but nothing seems to change, no matter how much time is allowed.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Live trace, gradients and compounding paths

I have a complex shape, and I want to have a copy behind of it that is filled.. the shape itself is a combination of stokes and fills, so a straight-out fill doesn't look good at all.. I can get it all colored the same way using live paint groups to only fill in the areas that are completely surrounded. The problem with that, though, is a gradient will apply separately to each object, but if I make a compound path it fills in some bits of the strokes the protrude as lines into the outside (it's a ironwork sort of pattern).
The only way i can think to do this automatically would be to color all the selections the same and then rasterize it and then live trace it so it's one object and then apply the gradient to that, but I feel there's probably a more straightforward way. Not sure I explained that properly, if something's unclear I'll be happy to elaborate

Once you get to this point, you can grab the gradient tool from the tool panel and drag across all of the filled shapes. This will make one uniform gradient seen through the many pieces of the selection.
Give that a try, let us know how it goes.

Remove path white lines after Live Trace

Hello,
Very new to Adobe products(CS5).....
I have created a glass orb image (no mean feat for me!!) in PS from which I would like to make a .swf file from. The plan is to convert it to an ai in Illustrator and then export to .swf.
I have opened the .psd file in illustrator and used live trace to convert to a vector. However, when I expand the resultant image is left with numerous white pathway lines that I suppose were generated by the trace. How can I remove these lines?
Any help greatly received, remembering that I am a real novice to this.

I have the "Ignore White" option ticked.
I've actually found the solution. When exporting to .swf I selected "AI layers to SWF Symbols" instead of "AI file to SWF symbols". I have no idea why this sorts it though??

Adobe Live Calligrapher

                Adobe has created live Effect, smart objects, but this is New Live Application, which will create live document, that document will be open able in Illustrator and InDesign, I am not talking about placing that document inside of Illustrator or InDesign, but about opening and saving inside of Illustrator & InDesign in its own formation (.alc etc.) just like Illustrator opens .pdf document and it is able to save in its own .pdf formation. This document is bridge between Illustrator and InDesign, because in Illustrator you are not able to place or open InDesign document. If you need beautiful frames layout, for that you will have to Choose InDesign, Effect of Illustrator are really nice. & Calligraphy just like Kelk2010 (Arabic Calligraphy), The benefit of this live document is, you can open that document at same time in Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Live Calligrapher, and can save any new changing from any application and it will update automatically like linked file in any opened application that’s why I call it live document and every object would be stake able in any application when we save it with new changing in any application it will update automatically in other applications if it is opened at same time.
                About Adobe Live calligrapher’s Fonts’ must be like kelk2010 (Arabic Calligraphy) there must be live exclude option/function provided in this application, when we type any word in Adobe Live Calligraphy with combination of few characters we make work but when we move that word with (black arrow) selection tool in Illustrator it moves whole word. If we decided to change the shape of that word in Adobe Live Calligrapher, it will also update in Illustrator, if we had applied gradient, drop shadow etc. in Illustrator, It will remain same and if we move that word live exclude of Adobe Live Calligrapher, it will work and remain live, just like Illustrator’s pathfinder panel, if we have created two paths, 2nd path is on the top of 1st path/overlapped little bit, to create Live exclude & Compound path overlapped shape areas, you have press Alt key in CS4/CS5 it will create live exclude & compound path. & Live Space function/option must be provided. (Wide/narrow space function/option between vowel points & character/to character or selected whole world, line or whole document’s words).
          Adobe Live Calligrapher must be able to create .pdf & one page like Illustrator CS3 & older versions, finishing that document place in InDesign or Illustrator, it will take low size, and about calligraphy (in Middle Eastern Version) languages should be Arabic (with vowel points of Arabic calligraphy & every style has own vowel points like Kelk2010) , Persian, Urdu (like Inpage professional fonts (with vowel points of urdu style/calligraphy), Sindhi, Hindi (vowel panel would be much better for applying vowel points like kelk2010) etc. & their other styles like Kelk2010, when any person will install application that will be able to select languages and languages styles in beginning of application’s installation and Adobe Live Calligrapher’s font folder must be separate from windows font folder, so that we will not see those Fonts, because those font will not be able to use in Illustrator, InDesign & other applications,
                This application must be the part of Design Standard Suite, in Japanese version languages should be Japanese, chines, Taiwan, Korean etc. and in European version all should be European etc.

if you have created .pdf in Illustrator you are able to open/Edit/save that document.
& I am talking about future version of Illustrator & Indesign must be able to open Adobe Live Calligrapher's Document.
but we will be able to move Vowel points & words with selection/move tool of live calligrapher & must it keep live/editable text, when we copy Arabic/etc text from any document/file it must be able to paste all Vowel points, Kelk doesn't paste all Vowel points

I can't download flash or adobe reader

Each time I try I get.
Please note, depending on your settings, you may have to temporarily disable your antivirus software.
Now I have removed Norton Anti Virus (Very inconvenient).
But even still flash or adobe reader still won't download.
Very Fustrating.
I am using Mozilla FireFox Model 23.1 . With Windows XP Professional 5.01 with Service Pack 2 on a Toshiba Tecra M5 Laptop.
I tried to use Internet explorer to download flash but at 50% it stop and won't carry on.
Now how do I download Flash and Adobe Reader.

Can you add fill color to outlines that are fills too? (colorizing a drawing after Live Trace)

I have a cartoon drawing that I plan to scan in and run Live Trace on to get into Illustrator. To add color to all the white areas,, generally I would create a fill the shape of the area behind the traced area and color it. With this one, I have a LOT more areas than I am use to. Is there a way to just select one of these areas and tell it to put a color in instead of creating a shape of that area in each spot? I know this sounds confusing!

Convert the Live-Traced object to a Live Paint object and fill distinct areas with the Paint Bucket tool. Check help files for more info.
