Flash 9 Public Alpha Help Content

I am unable to access help content in the Flash help panel.
Nothing is displayed. I can't search for AS1, 2, or 3 content. Is
anyone else having the same problem?

In IE it shows as a blank page (white), in Firefox it's all there. I'd suspect a CSS issue.

Adobe Flash Broke my LabVIEW Help

Recently, all of a sudden whenever I opened up LabVIEW Help (such as right-clicking on a function/VI and selecting Help), the Help window would appear, the left pane would be filled in, but the right pane would be blank. The inner part of the title bar would be white, and the Help would simply freeze. The only way to resolve it was to force-kill LabVIEW Help via Task Manager, which also quit LabVIEW (even though it wasn't frozen). I couldn't figure out what was happening until I decided to run FileMon and saw that at the very end of loading the Help window, the Adobe Flash folder was being accessed. OK, this sort of makes sense, since it's displaying an HTML file, but it also doesn't make sense since it wasn't displaying Flash content. But why would that freeze the Help window? Flash worked just fine in my browser. I did a complete uninstall of Flash, and my LabVIEW Help magically started working again.
Anybody else seen this? FYI: I had Flash 10 installed. There had been an update to Flash a couple of weeks ago, I think, but I'm almost (99%) positive that I had used Help during that time without seeing this freeze. Haven't the courage yet to try installing it again.

Thanks for the feedback. I had to install Flash again since Pandora uses it (and I love Pandora). This time LabVIEW Help did not freeze up, and when I had FileMon running I saw that the LabVIEW executable was not accessing the Adobe folder (whereas before it was doing it right before the Help window froze up). Bizarre.

Getting Apple help content from a remote server

Having an interesting time trying to understand how to add online server content to a soon-to-be-public Apple help system - this is not working for me. The good news is that the Help is working perfectly locally so I just need to "check the internet for missing files and updates".
I've added the following to my info.plist in my help bundle. I generate the index only via command line hiutil, not specifying the RemoteURL as I've added it to the info.plist. My BookType is 3:
HPDBookAccessPath index.html HPDBookRemoteURL http://127.0.0.1/ (for test only) HPDBookType 3
Is there anything more to it than that? I've played around with redirect files that call .js files but with no joy. Can anyone explain the relationship between Type 1, Type 2, And Type 3 books and primary-local, primary-internet, internet-only, etc.
Also... I'm not sure what structure my online content should be?
1) An updated .help bundle placed directly onto the root of localhost. Seems a bit odd. or
2) A set of structured HTML files that mirror sky help systems /pages subfolder or
3) A set of updated files just in the root of my local web server. Ummm.
Any advice would be warmly received

Is there documentation on this? The last time I checked (a couple of years ago), Apple's help documentation was years out of date. If you dig into Apple's own help, you will see that it does all kinds of funky stuff with remote servers. Apple Help is like black magic. Just do what you need to do and get out of there. If you have help working perfectly locally, you are already ahead of the curve.

No Help content available

Hello all,
One of our users is working in Flash 8 Professional (v8.0d478
on a PowerMacG5, MacOSX 10.4.11) and is trying to do a search via
the help window (F1). All we get is a [No entries were found]
message no matter what we type in the search field.
I click the Update icon at top right of window to retrieve
help content, get a progress bar for a few seconds then get the
following error msg:
"No new help content is available."
Is it possible for me to manually retrieve help content
either via update installer file or any other means? Please advise

Apparently, Adobe decided to change the function of the Help application. In CS6 this is called the Help Manager. See this post for their new design philosophy: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1000134
My best guess is that Adobe did the same for Lightroom 4, hence the local help is not available as html, and not yet as pdf: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1000134

I do regret that there is no backwards compatibility for the help function for those who stick with CS5.5. This way, it is utterly confusing and not useful.

Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
Hmm, ideas anyone?

Issue with Smart View Help Contents using v11.1.2.0.01

Hi there,
I just installed v11.1.2.0.01 (Build 003) of the Smart View add-in on a MS Windows XP SP2 PC with MS Office 2003 SP3.
Unfortunately, the Help Contents in MS Excel does not seem to work as whenever I select Smart View > Help > Contents, nothing gets displayed. Selecting Smart View > Help > Technical Support and Smart View > Help > EPM Documentation takes me to various links on the www.oracle.com site.
I uninstalled then re-installed this specific version a few times but to no avail. I even checked the contents of each subdirectory where Smart View has been installed but could not find any Help files whatsoever.
1. Has anyone ever encountered this issue?
2. If yes, what do I need to do to resolve this issue and get the Smart View Help to be displayed?

Well, reading the documentation about knowing where to find the documentation would have actually helped. At the bottom of page 10 of the Smart View ReadMe document, the following is mentioned under the "Documentation Updates" section:
"For Smart View online help to be available, the Shared Connections URL on the Advanced page of the Options dialog box must contain an EPM Workspace URL."
This question is now answered.

Have you tried transferringing the videos via usb (sinc you're having trouble transferring them with PhotoSync) as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 and just transferring the photos with PhotoSync?

F1 Help content are displayed in english instead of the language logged in

Dear all,
The SAP version is ECC 6.0 unicode system.
we have imported chinese language and we logged in to SAP using chinese as the logon language.
when my end user press F1(perfromance assistant), the help contents are getting displayed in English.
We need the help contents also to be displyed in chinese.
Do I have to perform any other imports or any other steps to be done.
Kindly help me in this issue.

For Chinese, Help is English..
Generally Help is in English or German.
If you need any specific language u need to install SAP Help in specific language on the application server and do help configuration in the system.

I have been trying for months to find someone who can use
flash, who can help me, with no luck.
I need my links on my website updating, just a couple of them
need the text changing as i need

as i dont have flash). the site was made using dreamweaver.
the files are .FLA
and before anyone says 'get the person who made the site to
do it'....He wont, ive tried.

Acrobat Distiller 11 "Online Help Content Cannot be displayed."

Any one else packaged Adobe Acrobat 11 and found that all of the help menus display "Online Help Content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet."? The problem is for Acrobat and Distiller, Adobe Forms Central is fine.
Ideally there'd be a way just to make the application be able to access the adobe help on the Internet. I tried adding the FeatureState registry key as we are behind an authenticating proxy. This made no difference.
As this didn't seem possible I've configured Acrobat to hide the affected menues and created a new menu which opens the Acrobat_ref.pdf - so Acrobat is now ok. However, I can't find the Distiller pdfs, i.e. "distiller parameters guide" and "pdfmark guide". Also I am unsure how you would configure Distiller to point to these on the local machine. I've used the Adobe Customization Wizard to create the package.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews mean nothing. Those warnings are not a reason to reinstall the OS, or to do anything else at all. They should be ignored.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.
