Flash activex version problem

dear all
my problem is as follows, please bear with me:
i have a vb6 application which uses flash activex control to show swf files on my forms.
when using flash10d.ocx (which was the latest at the time i first used it) everything worked fine and all flash files did their thing...
since new versions of the ocx file have been released my app doesnt work properly anymore (some of the flash files appear distorted/dont refresh/resize properly, some doesnt appear at all.)
i know that i can uninstall any version and re-install my flash10d.ocx. and if do, everything works fine again.
but that cannot be a solution, cause my end users might (rightfully) want to be updated with the latest flash they can have. and i dont even have direct contact with any of them...
any side-by-side installation i tried ended-up with vb using the latest version intalled, ignoring the older one
any comment and direction will be greatly appreciated, i've been crawling the web for some time now...finding absolutely zilch
thanx a lot in advance
E.

Hi Olga,
Please try this
Resolution
Set Flash Player Security Settings to allow the local drive to be trusted. Also see the Xcelsius 2008 Installer Release Note on Adobe Flash Player Security.
This will also occur if you snapshot or export to a local format such as PPT, HTML or Word and try to run the SWF file.
To enable trust:
1.)    Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html
2.)    Select "Always Allow"
3.)    In the "Always trust files in these locations:" drop down, select "Add location""
4.)    Browse for the location in which your SWF file is located or add C:\
Hope this helps.
Regards
Nikhil

  • Flash player version problem

I can go to this site (
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/security/security_zone/apsb06-03.html)
and read about security issues but I need to present my boss with
the consequences of having a lower version. I am talking about the
type of vulnerabilities and consequences. Does Adobe have an
official release of such vulnerabilities? Please reply soon.

Hi, I see you have the 10.3.181.15 Installed. A thread was just put up that that has been updated to 10.3.181.15 here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/858902?tstart=0
I haven't had time yet to see the release notes, so am not sure if any audio issues were involved or not.
The new version is for Windows and IE9 only so far. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Well you've done most of what would normally be done. I just read something this morning about audio while searching for something else. I'll see if I can find it.
This is from the other thread you posted to:
I have tried turning the active x on and off with mixed results.  On most web sites with video and the active x on the video won't display and a link will appear to download the flash player.   With Active X off the video will play, but no sound.    I have also downloaded the suggested patch for 10.3 player and still the same results. (no audio)    The only place I get video and audio together. is on Microsoft's Windows 7 support page.
Any suggestions?   ( I am also on IE9 on W7x64)
You may want to go to C:/Windows/SysWOW64/Macromed/Flash  Right click on the Flash and post back the files listed. I don't need any log info, just want to know what Flash Files and version#'s are listed.
Then using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons under "Show" and let me know if Shockwave Flash Object is Enabled & if the version # is 10.3.181.15.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot set FlashVars with Flash ActiveX 10.1.53.64

    Hi,
My external container isn't able to set FlashVars since I upgraded to Flash version 10.1.53.64. What's the matter ?
A simple for loop didn't list anything in the loaderInfo.parameters object (for (var val:String in loaderInfo.parameters)).
It didn't happen with any older Flash version.
    Environment:
    Windows XP SP3
Container: Excel 2003, set FlashVars through VBA code
    Flash ActiveX version 10.1.53.64
    Thanks,
    Rico

Nobody has encountered the same problem?
As a precision, I can set the FlashVars property through VBA code, but the FlashVars string remains empty after setting the variable and in my Flex 3 application, the variable "loaderInfo.parameters" did not contain anything (nothing is listed using a "for (var val:String in loaderInfo.parameters)" loop.
The same program used with Flash 10.0.45.2 lists parameters set through VBA code.
    Any answer will be appreciated.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX version 11.9.900.170 Bug; unknown background audio playing

1/13/2014 I download Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX version 11.9.900.170 for the 5th time in over a week and keep getting a corrupted version that is playing audio from a unknown source when I am not on the internet but using one of my software. I have downloaded with abc go.com and NFL.co and I get the audio in background that is not part of what I am watching and can not turn off because it is playing thru your player software. I uninstall it and no audio, as soon as I download it again the same problem, then I have to uninstall gain, I just uninstalled again.

Flash Player is"playing" the audio... IT ISN'T CAUSING IT.
You have what's known as "adware" that has hijacked your browser.
Usually it opens a window with a javascript, either minomized, or as a "popunder" or it can set it to open "offscreen", and then it plays where you can't see it to close it. You need to run a thorough system scan, and check your browser plugins, as well as look for suspicious programs in your Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features section.
Again, Flash Player ISN'T the cause. It's just the mechanism by which this malware is delivered.

  • Client Flash Player, older version problem!

    Hi folks
I made a project with Flash Builder 4 with default SDK... It can be run in Flash Player version 10.0.45.2
But there is a problem: If client Flash Player is older than it (like 10.0.2 or 9 or less), there is no message and just client can see a solid page and nothing more.
How can I fix that? How can I give the client a message to download a last version of Flash Player? or how can I check if the client FP is older, download the last version automatically?
    regards

  • My version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with my version of Windows

I am trying to use a new copy of Camtasia Studio 3, and I keep gettiong the error message that my version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with my version of Windows and that I should ocntact Adobe for support. So here I am.
I am running Windows7 64bit, and it's a brand new computer so I know that there aren't tons of legacy installations or Flash players on it. This page http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html tells me that I have Flash Player version 11.4.31.110 installed but that I should have 11.4.402.287 installed. But I have installed the latest Flash player from the Adobe site (twice!) and it never gives me an option for 11.4.31.110 vs 11.4.402.287.
I am using Chrome and Flash is working fine in my browser: It's only Camtasia that isn't working well.
    Thanks!

Hm, I assume you mean Camtasia Studio 8?
Check the chart on the page you linked. You'll see that the version you have installed is in fact the latest version for Chrome. They haven't updated it beyond that. Each browser engine has its own latest version of flash. IE and Mozilla are 11.4.402.287.
Aside that, there's no reason Camtasia should be requiring you to have that version of flash. Make sure when you're publishing your content that you don't check off any options to "require the user to have the latest version of Flash". You should also (if possible in your project) try to target MP4/HTML5. Check any HTML being generated with it (hopefully using SWFObject) and check for the version checking code. There is absolutely nothing Camtasia needs to require the latest version to do. I've been using Camtasia (TechSmith codec mostly) for screen recording since version 2.

  • ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.60 Update Problem cause Blank Screen on Qosmio X505-Q870 HELP Needed!

I have a Qosmio X505-Q870 that I bought 3 months ago. I updated to ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.60 today, as suggested by the Toshiba installation tools. I ran the update in Windows 7( didn't know this is dangerous) and it successfully completed, before it shuts down normally. When I try ti turn it on, the power LED is on, but the screen is blank. I tried to turn it off by pressing the power button for 20 seconds, but the computer would not turn off. What should I do now?

  • 'To view this page ensure that Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.0 or greater is installed'?

I have recently downloaded the newest version of flash player (version 11.9.900.117) and it is working fine with things like Youtube. However some websites that use flash player are coming up with the error message 'To view this page ensure that Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.0 or greater is installed'? I dont understand why this is happening as the version I have is 11.9.900.117 for Internet Explorer?? Please help this is driving me crazy!!!

Exactly the same problem with me, and (apart from basic fix issues like disabling ActiveX filtering, etc) no-one seems to know a solution.
    OS: Win 7 64 bit
    Browser: IE 10
Flash v: 11.9.900.117 (but problem continued after reverting to earlier versions with proper clean uninstalls of 11.9).
I do note that at around the time the trouble started, Google Chrome did some (background) updates, including its embedded version of this latest flash. But if the others (above) don't also have Chrome, that is clearly not the issue. Perhaps it's a registry issue?

  • Archived flash player version with Win 8.1

I'm using Firefox version 37.0.1 and Win 8.1 and am having some difficulty with installing a version of flash player that is not the most recent version. I currently have flash player 17.0.0.134 installed and have lost some functionality with extensions which is why I wish to use an older version. When I use the flash player uninstaller and use the 'Check Now' button on https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html I am told that there is no version of flash player installed, however, when I try to install flash player version 16.0.0.35 from the flash archives I get the message "This version of flash player is older than the version currently installed" and the installation process halts. Is there a way to find which version of flash player were previously installed and use the corresponding uninstallers? Is there an additional step to uninstalling flash player for Win 8.1? I'd really like to be able to roll back to the previous version please. Thank you.

It doesn't make a lot of sense that a Flash Player upgrade would affect a third-party Firefox extension.  There's no way for other plugins to hook into Flash unless you've disabled ProtectedMode (which is also a bad idea from a security perspective), and we don't hook into other plugins.  I'm wondering if maybe some internal Firefox configuration files might have been corrupted.
Are you running the right installer when you download the Archives?  There's an ActiveX installer for Internet Explorer, and an NPAPI plug-in installer for Firefox.
If you need to run an older version, you're way better off using the Extended Support Release.  It's an old feature branch, but with all the security fixes between now and then.  We updated it in parallel with our current release.
Just scroll down to the Extended Support Release section and choose the second row - EXE installer for plug-in based browsers:
Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe
Once you've run that installer, if you still don't see Flash Player, then my guess there's either a bad registry entry or Firefox config file in play.
It won't do a lot of good trying to fix it if the filesystem is in a wonky state, so it's worth ruling that out first:
Caveat: Sometimes corrupted software is an early indicator that your disk is going bad.  It's wise to ensure that you have current working backups, especially if you have anything important on the machine.  Checking the disk for problems is a relatively safe operation, but will also give the disk a workout.  If it's on it's way out, you may not get a lot of additional warning.
    Checking the disk for errors:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641432
At that point, if you identified problems and fixed them, but things still don't work, it's time to uninstall both Flash Player and Firefox and reinstall from pristine sources.
If you're still stuck, let me know.

  • Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control

I am trying to run Samsung PC studio and I keep getting this error message, "Your version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with this version of Windows."
I had to re-install CS4 because of an update error message (which I am still getting) and I think that caused this problem because this program ran fine before. I do have the latest version of Flash installed (11.8.800.168) but that is the plug-in. Is the Active X control something different?
If so where can I download that?
    I am running W7HP, 64 bit
Hopefully someone can help. Thanks in advance.

    m_&_m wrote:
Thanks for the response but I actually started having this problem all of a sudden about a month or two ago before I encountered the recent flash problem. I think something is keeping CS4 from updating properly and that is what caused the flash issue. I had not un-installed it prior to last week.
Is adobe still offering support for CS4 when it is update related?
    Any other suggestions?
According to the support page, no more support for CS4 is available.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/policies/supported.html
Adobe only supports two version back of the current, which in this case is CC. That would mean CS6 and CS5.5 are the two previous, and that's where it stops.

  • My Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with Windows 7 / 64bit

I have downloaded the newest version of Adobe flash, and it installs like normal...and I think it is working fine....but on some sites (even You Tube) and some software programs, I get this message:
Your version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with this version of Windows.
I am tired of wasting so much time with this...I read on the net that some people compiled their computer to 86...whatever that means....but no one explained how to do it.
I have a Flash professional in ADOBE MASTER COLLECTION C6 / but all programs and sites default to the normal Flash player (that constantly gets updated,

I have a similar problem, Win 7 64-bit, I did a clean install*, downloaded latests (Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player), and after restarting my computer, Win7 64-bit Action Center popped up: "Your version of Macromedia Flash ActiveX Control isn't compatible with this version of Windows" with no error codes to look up knowledge base. Like seriously, no one from Adobe answered this in 9 months?! And the steps in Common problems | Flash Player sound like I need to purchase support before I file a report?
Currently, my Firefox plugins only show Shockwave Flash 13 not Adobe Flash. Do I need to install Flash plugin for Firefox? (http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe)
    Thanks!
    * as per How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?:
