Flash and Shockwave continue to crash in chrome and firefox

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both, as well as cleared all caches, yet they keep crashing while loading, I am not sure what the problem could be and how to fix it so I can go back to enjoying my videos and games.
I am using windows 7 and it seems to work in EI right now (I hate EI). Thank you.

  • Continued Element Crashes upon opening and I have deadline to meet

I have been working on a thesis project with Photoshop and Premier Elements 9 since September, and Photoshop has been for the most part stable.  Occasionally I had a crash episode and the message that Adobe had to close the program due to some encountered problem.  Premier 9 crashed more than Photo Shop.  For the past two days, as I am approaching a deadline for my project, Dec 6, I cannot use Photoshop at all.  As soon as I open elements, I get the crash message.  Premier Elements 9 has been more stable for the past 2 days but has crashed several times as well, particularly when I try to work with font changes.  This evening, I read at the forum to go update by drivers, which I did with my PC mfg, then I read to download the patch, which I did for Windows.  I did all of that and rebooted twice and Photoshop continues to crash as soon as I open it.  Please help me.  My plan was to work on my project intensely over the four day holiday and I am getting absolutely nothing done due to this problem.  I need to work with my images, preparing captions, and getting ready to upload them to a website.  What is wrong with this software?  Why is it suddenly crashing constantly over the past two days?

I thought some more about the font issues.  This problem with AE's organizer began two days ago which was the time when I was changing fonts on some videos in Premier Elements 9.  I used the program fonts and did not install any fonts.  However, a strange thing happened two days ago with fonts that makes me wonder if this is why AE's organizer crashes after two seconds each time I try to open it and work with my images collected there since August for a thesis project.  Two days ago, when I changed fonts on the video clips (titles on frames), after I changed a couple of clips to a new font that I thought would be sharper (lithos pro is the subject font), I then noticed that when I tried to change the remaining clips to everything used the same font, the font was no longer working.  When I clicked on lithos pro on subsequent frame titles, another font appeared.  I thought I was going nuts since the font appearing looked nothing like lithos pro on the first clips I changed.  Now I believe that font was corrupt, it was a program font, and this may explain the AE organizer crashes for the past two days.  A moment ago, I pulled up those two videos and removed Lithos pro entirely from them.  These are important videos that I have been editing for two months to go up on the website for my thesis project.  I then tried AE organizer again, and it continues to crash.  The thought that a corrupt font in the Elements 9 program may have caused me two waste two very precious and valuable days of my time on this thesis project, when I am running out of time to complete it now and cannot complete it without accessing the images in organizer and adding captions before they go on the web, frustrates me more than I can say.  I spent a lot of money on four Adobe software programs and now I am unable to access my images and finish my project.  I am also not impressed with Adobe's lack of phone support for an issue like this.  Tech support is closed except for Mon-Fri and when I did call them previously on another issue, I reached people in another country that had such heavy accents, I couldn't understand much of what they said.

  • I am trying to download Firefox 3.6 to use on my Mac OS X version 10.3.9. Three attempts and I continue to get "mounting failed" and "corrupt image". Help please?

I am trying to download Firefox 3.6 to use on my Mac OS X version 10.3.9. Three attempts and I continue to get "mounting failed" and "corrupt image". Help please?

Firefox 3.6 requires at least OS X 10.4, the last version of Firefox that worked on OS X 10.3.9 was Firefox 2.0.0.20 which is available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/

Let it alone. No one can tell how long it will take as that is a function of your data.

  • Flash Crash ff, chrome, and ie

So tired of this flash crash mess. I have windows XP  internet explorer 7 intel series E gateway. I was using internet explorer. Five or Six months ago the flash crash hit my computer. There are so many confusing answers out there. Can anyone make it simple?  I'm self taught so it needs to be simple, please dont ask me to go do things without telling me how to get there, LOL.  I am having problems with games on facebook with what they call adobe flash crash. I have tried many things but nothing is working. I switched to firefox and it crashed the worse. I switched to Chrome and it crashed to. Chrome seems to work the best out of the three but when I tried to re install Chrome I now get SSL connection error 107  SSL protocol error.  There doesnt seem to be a fix. So now I'm back with Internet Explorer 7  and the not responding flash crash.
I noticed I also get Chrome.exe-corrupt file C:\system volume. Please run the chkdsk utility and something about NTFS ( this fixes itself.) But why does it come up so often? It fixes itself so fast I have no time to read all the stuff it says. What is this file all about and is it causing the crash? Is this file undoing what Im trying to fix? Please help

Hello bethAnn1212, I was wondering how thie issues were going? I was a little concerned as you had mentioned chkdsk dealing with an issue(s) and it had me wondering about the condition of the hard drive. It could be a sign of hardware (hard drive) issues of other issues. There should be a log file but I don't recall where. I am sure someone can mention it or a Google search will find it as well although if you still need to find and/or discuss non-Adobe issues I would think that the administrators would rather a discussion such as that be moved to one of the more general forums, for which I am sure they have a good suggestion which exact forum to go to to have that discussion if you should so desire.
I have an older computer that runs XP home and has it's own sets of issues as well and want you to know that you are not alone . Sometimes with my older computer and lower memory (1.5G RAM) and a slower CPU I run into issues where the flash player will go out and I have to reload the web browser.
It sounds like you try and keep things up to date but wanted to make sure (as it helps with security as well as stability) to have WinXp up to date (sp3 for home) as well as the critical updates along with other drivers. Hopefully you have a firewall running on your system to keep the bad stuff out (keeping that program up to date as  the virus definitions). I think you are learning quite well. I have spent days, weeks and even months trying to figure out or track down the reason for computer issues.
I almost forrgot, although it won't fix your crash issue it might help with speed/stability somehwhat to clear the flash player cache from time to time. Apparently one needs to be online at http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.htm l to do so. Other programs like Java have cache that can help as well as clearing the cookies/temp files from your web browser and the temp files on your computer. Programs built into XP can help with a couple of those. Locations and such can be discusse din the proper forum if you wish. Just let me know. Lots of good people here to help.
    Good luck to all,

  • Firefox adobe flash player plugin continues to crash, how do i fix this?

with each update from adobe and from Firefox, flash player becomes more unstable. the last time it was stable was when adobe was still in 10th version but once it reach 11th version it became unstable. i have did everything the tread has offer to do from updating to the latest flash player and updating Firefox. uninstall Firefox and uninstall flash player and then reinstalling it. I have reset Firefox to its default settings. i keep my system clean of cookies and other things using CC cleaner and disk cleanup. i have the fast internet service provider and i have disable my antivirus software to make sure it was not interfering. i have tried safe mode. and have disable video accelerator as well. to no prevail. i know this has to be a flaw in the update. when it crashes a box appears saying a "script as stop working or is busy would you like to continue or stop plugin" of course i stop it because it will just freeze the computer if i don't. this occurs on a daily basics now. it would also appear that it slows down my internet speed while the process is running as evident of when it crashes my internet moves extremely faster than normal. i love Firefox and do not wont to switch. i know i can not return to internet explorer its terrible unstable and prone to virus but now Firefox is acting up. is their a add on or something to fix this issue that's been troubling users for the last 2 years. i have windows 7 home premium 64 bit computer. i have gone as far as performing a factory restore.

I have been chasing my tail with this problem for several years. Perhaps it is a problem common to Window 7 / 64 bit. At any rate you'd think that both Adobe and the Firefox developers could find a solution.
I'll try the above fix but if no solution is forthcoming I will be changing back to IE. After all the very reason I came to the Firefox browser was that IE was at the time not up to the challenge. It looks like the tables are now reversed.

  • Why do Yahoo Flash videos not always run correctly in Chrome and Firefox/Windows 8?

I upgraded early last month to Windows 8 Pro.
Running Yahoo! News and other videos (Yahoo! Screen, etc.; virtually all Yahoo branded products) I get a black screen, no error message on Chrome and Firefox. The videos run correctly on Internet Explorer.
I have not found a way to run these videos at all in Firefox or the 64-bit Waterfox.
In Chrome, I can DISABLE the internal Pepper-based Flash player and the videos will run (but nothing ELSE will: no YouTube, etc.)
I can keep a plug-ins page open in Chrome and repeatedly enable and disable the internal Flash player; I can copy and paste the URL for what I'm watching back into IE...or perhaps some kind and knowing person here will have a better idea. For me, I sense a bug somewhere. BTW...this machine dual-boots Win8 and WIn7. The problem does not exist in Win7. Please don't suggest going back to Win7; that's a VERY mature (translate SLOW and quirky; survived repeated change of motherboard and other major components) install that I'm continually weaning myself away from and rarely boot into it anymore (Win8 boots from SSD and is blazingly fast, Win7 not so much).
I have not found any site other than the ENTIRE Yahoo site that has this problem!
    Jay from the Bronx

I'm back! Actually, this issue has been happening to me every now & then but I'd just given up on dealing with it. But now I'm motivated again.
I clicked on a video link in Facebook that sent me to NASCAR | Facebook which turns from the https URL to those two words on this site for some odd reason, and it just popped a box telling me saying Flash Player Upgrade Required - Get Flash Player and the video's image never displayed under that and it couldn't be played.
Then once again I went thru all of the steps to insure that both I do actually have Flash Player and that it is Enabled. I do and it is. I also read somewhere to click the gear icon in IE then click Safety > ActiveX Filtering. I do that and I see a checkmark next to ActiveX Filtering. I've tried it both with a checkmark and without one and there's no difference.
I have Windows 8.1 fully updated, IE-11 and Flash Player
I see the swinging tire swing image in #5. Verify if Flash Player is installed at Flash Player Help.

  • My automatic adobe flash player installer tried to install google chrome and did not allow opt out

my automatic Adobe Flash Player updated tried to install Google Chrome without giving me the opporltunity to opt out?

I witnessed this myself two nights ago while testing an upgrade in Windows 7.
It HAS been reported to development, but... like 99% of the people here, we (myself and the MVP user who reported it) are just Adobe users like you, so reporting it with screenshots was the best we can do.
I use Chrome myself, but only for testing webpages I build, and I've never used their toolbar, because it's an open portal for malware... hence the report filed with DEV.
All we can do now is cross our fingers and hope they have it worked out by the next update cycle.

  • Firefox and Sea monkey both crash on opening and can't find preference file

I am using Mac Os X 10.5.8 and the latest versions of Sea Monkey and Firefox. Sea Monkey crashed while trying to access a conference. Now Sea Monkey crashes every time I try to open it as does Firefox.
I suspect there is a corrupt preference file that both are trying to access but I can't find it. I've looked at some online places that suggest various plist files in the Library/preferences folder but there is nothing there under mozilla or firefox type names or one called com.apple.internetconfig.plist that was also suggested.

Yay, solved it. Dances. The conference I was trying to access installed a plugin called WebEx.plugin. I removed this and both now work fine.

  • AJA lola and new Power Mac crash at log and capture

I've been using a power book with an AJA lola to capture and print to a betacam sp UVW1800 for a couple of year now and so far so good, but yesterday went and bought a Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon and installed the new AJA drivers and now when I want to capture and digitize it would crash every time, I have my set ups at 10 bit uncompress (same at before) but it won't work, and with the old drives it can't detect the deck, I have tested every connection and cables and all is fine, seems like a matter of compatibility? maybe? Any one has had a experience like this?

This kind of behavior can be the result of bad housekeeping (at least in my experience.)
Start by repairing your permissions, then retry. Trashing your prefs is next, then run Disk Warrior. If none of that works, you may have a hardware problem with the deck.
It's not much, but I hope it helps...

  • Flash is installed ,but not seen by Chrome or Firefox

Here is what I checked in Chrome , I have:
Adobe Flash Player - Version: 15.0.0.189
    Shockwave Flash 15.0 r0
This is installed but not being recognized by  either firefox or chrome. I am on a WIN 8.1 pc and IE does not work so it is disabled/turned off. It does not even open anyway.  How do I fix this?

Let me clarify, I need flash to work in Firefox and Chrome, IE is not important. I rarely use it

  • Why is my Macbook Pro suddenly and constantly shutting down/crashing on me and giving me a blacked out or blued out screen with lines?  Seems like a total system failure is happening?

Macbook Pro- shortly after upgrading to free software upgrade to Mavericks- 10.9.5-
has suddenly been freezing up, but went more directly to 'shutting down,'  CRASHING on its own.  Most of the time, if I'm even able to successfully get the laptop turned back on, it only stays up/on for a few moments before repeating the failure.   The failure is often accompanied with the monitor going 'blank,' or most typically either 'blacking out,' or going blue/green or grey screen with lines or grids all over the monitor.  All Desktop visibility, functions or applications in process disappears.  This has caused repetetive 'forced shut downs,' which I never usually do, unless prompted to because I have no choice like this.... Or as I said, the computer itself will just shut down and turn off by itself.... Can anyone tell me what this issue is, and I'm pretty sure other Mac users have seen this exact thing I'm describing happening on their laptops, with their systems or on their monitors.  Someone please explain or point me in the right direction... as naturally my laptop just went out of warranty as well.... And I don't know if this means the entire system is basically corrupted, dying/dead... and or if it is a monitor issue, a hardware issue, software issue or if there is anything that can be done to restore, repair it, etc.?   Also another thing I have noticed ever since getting this laptop- (few years old now...) is that it runs VERY HOT... has in fact burned my lap /skin many times... and seems like the fan or internal operating systems/functions are also perhaps not functioning properly.  Can this also be causing the problem?  Or is it a corruption or virus of some kind? etc.   Thank you.

What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

  • Mail (OS 10.8.2) hangs and spins continually. have to force quit and restart.

I stopped using Outlook (Office for Mac) on my MacAir because it would hang and spin.  But Mail is doing it too.  I used to have four accounts attached (icloud, entourage, outlook, gmail) but took off gmail and outlook and now have only entourage and icloud.  Hasn't made any difference.
    Suggestions?

Please follow these instructions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Quit Mail.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected  folder — not just its contents — to the Trash.
    Relaunch Mail and test.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
