Flash and Shockwave, no longer working.

Why is it that your Players no longer Support either the XP, or Vista Operating Systems? There are a number of Websites on the Internet that use your Flash Player and Shockwave. I really don't want to have to be Shanghaied into Upgrading to the latest Windows Operating System.

I tried to post the Question there, but there was no Submit Button to
actually post the Question to the Forum. I also tried to Sign in and all
that happened was that the Page kept Re-directing and never posting.....Is
there anyone there that can answer me as to why Flash Player and Shockwave,
no longer Support Vista, or XP Operating Systems?

Flash and shockwave not working

I'm running OS X version 10.3.9 and Safari version 1.3.2 (v312.6) and I recently tried to install the new version of the flash shockwave player before I realised what was going on all flash and shockwave content stopped working. I've tried everything from unistalling the player to trying to find an older version to install, reinstalling all my other browsers to trying to install a newer version of safari but nothing seams to work.
can anyone help me get flash content working again

I'm having the same problem. Running OS 10.4.10 with Safari 3.0.3. This crashing happens in all browers Netscape/Safari/Firefox/Seamonkey etc. I installed, re-installed Flash and Quicktime. I've checked boxes and unchecked boxes and nothing seems to works. HELP!!

Hi, I have been researching these forums for too long! I cannot find an answer that resolves my problem. I too had the damaged file and 3 empty java files. I deleted them. I searched for the gp.ocx and gp.inf. I did not find the ocx but found an agp file. I deleted it but it did not delete the damaged file, thus my justification for deleting it.
I have IE8, Windows XP SP3, and have had trouble playing certain games for months. I get so frustrated each time I undertake trying to resolve the problem that it never gets done. I used to have Shockwave and somewhere it was lost. I tried unsuccessfully to install it several times until I finally removed all but the adobe reader and downloaded the flash and shockwave again. This time the shockwave took but it still is not working. Initially the problem with shockwave seemed to be the SwDir.dll, and SWDNLD files.
Also the DLM kept coming up saying click to download. I did only to have it disappear after closing it.
I hope this is sufficient information to give me guidance. Also, Ken said that he went directly to the adobe ftp to download his files directly. Where are those? I am losing money everyday that I cannot get this to operate/function properly.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).

Sending a solution that I have already tried is of no help, but I tried them all again, reloading works sometimes, I have seen in the past that others have had this problem also, of pages not completely loading. So I don't see how you can say I am the only one. When I first started using Firefox it worked great but now it doesn't, one of the updates caused this problem. I guess it's back to IE as it works fine now.

WARNING - Flash and Shockwave on Tiger

I just upgraded Flash and Shockwave on my Mac to the latest versions. (Flash Version 8.0r22 and Shockwave Version 10.1.0.11).
Macromedia recommends that all users upgrade to these latest versions for security reasons.
The installtion went smoothly. I checked the Disk Permission before and after the installation using the Disk Utility.
But when I checked for Disk Permission Errors after the installations, the Disk Utility program showed LOTS and LOTS of Disk Permission Errors relating to BOTH Flash and Shockwave. The Disk Utility program fixed all the errors.
Moral of the Story -- Check for Disk Premission Errors after you upgrade Flash and Shockwave!

I have turned off the firewall--I have uninstalled first, from the install file-- Although it says uninstallation was successful-but 49 things could not be uninstalled because they were in use. Then I installed- I also emptied the cache in Safari--and Firefox--the site that I am trying to access still does not work, even though it works for friends on PC's. What OS version? What's the exact error? Exactly when does the error occur? What previous versions? What is on the screen when the error displays? Does Photoshop get fully open?
Try opening Photoshop holding down Shift key immediately to turn off plug-ins. Lots of good suggestions here: Photoshop: Basic Troubleshooting steps to fix most issues

Divx and other media related plugins always crash and/or no longer work, please help

Why is nothing of divx seems to work anymore? Every time i try to watch a video online using a divx site or site that uses a divx player, i get the message
"divx plus web player pluging has cashed, send crash report"
I send it - then am offered the option to reload the page once reloaded a press play the player then says connecting and then crashes again!!!

I am having the same problems as well. Every time I turned around there was a new version of Firefox 8.0. Prior to the constant updating of Firefox I was able to watch movies from Stagevu and Veehd and now because of the new Firefox I cannot watch any movies. I also tried the VLC plugin and that constantly crashes as well as the DivX Web Player. I read so many complaints and no one from Firefox or any of the other browser is giving any of their constituents or customers whatever you want to call us any solutions to the problem and I am beginning to get a little frustrated. You can never, never migrate an installed copy of PSE. It's just too complex and you can't get to all the bits and bobs.
First you will have to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
which will not seem to do anything, but is necessary to break the links within PSE so that you can pitch the bits manually. Then you will have to go around, not only to applications, but also to your username>library>preferences and most importantly to the library at the top level of your hard drive>application support>adobe, and remove everything you can find. Spotlight will not help with this kind of search, so don't try that.
Then you can install PSE from scratch.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

Keyboard and mouse no longer work when booting into Rhapsody

I still have a bootable partition with the last release of Rhapsody (aka Mac OS X Server) on my Power Mac G4 but it's been a while (years!) since I actually booted it up. The G4 also has bootable partitions with Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 (and is in daily use running 10.4.11).
I used to boot into Rhapsody occasionally, mostly for interest's sake, occasionally to test Unix software on legacy systems; I haven't tried to do so since installing 10.4 until now.
When I booted up from the Rhapsody partition today, all went well -- the system started up fine, and the login screen appeared -- but the keyboard and mouse no longer work. I even got out the original keyboard and mouse that came with the G4, with no luck.
I assume that recent firmware updates have bypassed support for Rhapsody. I guess I'm not surprised -- it was a developer-only release, after all. But has anyone a solution?

Adding to the above: I also tried plugging in an Microsoft USB keyboard at the point when Windows freezes at the Windows log-in screen. The keyboard is not recognized and the only way I can leave this screen is to power-off the computer.
