Flash animation appearing as static image

I created a banner ad in Flash 8 and we have loaded it on our
site. Some people can see it and it works great, others only see
the first frame (it looks like a static image).
How can I fix this?

Post url.
You may have the movie jumping to a location before it exists
(not loaded yet). Try preloading everything first, or like I said
post the url so we can check it out.

  • HELP: Flash animations appear "linked" in FrontPage pages

    I'm a relatively new user to Flash MX 2004.
    I am creating simple UNlinked animations in Flash MX 2004,
    then placing them in FrontPage 2003 web pages. Even though these
    animations are not linked to any webpages, when placed in a webpage
    and viewed in MSIE 6 or Firefox 1.5, the user's cursor turns into a
    "hand" whenever he/she hovers over these animations, indicating
    that they are linked to something. Once the user clicks on the
    animation, the hand goes away. But before being clicked, the
    animations appear to be linked AND they show a light "border"
    around the animation. The border, like the "hand," goes away after
    clicking once on the animation.
    How do I get the "hand" and the "border" around the
    animations to go away in a FrontPage 2003 designed web page?
    Many thanks for your assistance.

    when you hover over active content - i popup tooltip-like
    message appears explaing you must click or
    press spacebar to activate this control - when you search for

  • Optimize php page for browsers lacking flash, so that it replaces flash objects with static images

    Hello,
    I basically want to have my php pages with flash swf objects to be smart enough to replace the flash swf's with static images or other content for the non-flash user (iphone, ipad, etc.) who visits the website.  I guess this would be an option or perhaps a script that just sent the visitor to a version of the .php page that is tailored to them, a version of the page designed for non-flash users.
    I've done a little bit of reading up and have found that some people like to use DOM scripts like
    Unobtrusive Flash Objects (UFO) v3.22
    or what seems to be the successor:
    SWFObject 2.0
    What is better?  Is there a better script out there to use at this point?  Advice would be much appreciated.

    I guess I will reiterate this.
    I would like someone to tell me which one of these scripts that I have mentioned above would be best to use.
    What am I trying to do?  Well from my understanding these scripts allow me to have multiple versions of the website, so that it loads up with static images in place of the flash swf's for... NON FLASH USERS.
    The script will be able to detect whether the flash capabilities of the browser are sufficient, and if not display the web page accordingly.
    SO.  I'm looking for an answer as to what is the best script to use, if it's not one of the scripts I am asking about.
    @The Shocker.. if I wanted to research it on the net by googling, which I already have, I wouldn't be using this forum.  I'm looking for someone who is knowledgeable in this area of expertise to give me a recommendation, based on information they can give me that is logical and clear.  And then I can do further research once I feel I'm being sent in the right direction.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who would like to offer me some direction on this.

  • How to flip a flash animation?

    Hi,
    Is is possible to play a flash animation flipped
    (horizontally mirrored), when embed on a HTML page? If so, how can
    I do this, in IE?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Rob,
    If I understand what you mean. I should set these vars while
    creating the flash movie, right?
    But that`s not exactly what I need, as I just get the .SWF
    made by someone else, and display then on my application. So what I
    need is something more like a param to the object tag or a
    javascript command that I could call from the HTML page, and then
    it would display that .SWF flipped.
    I'll try to explain why I need it.
    I have an application that accepts various formats, including
    flash (SWF), SVG, and static images. There is a requirement that
    the user should be able to see the application through a
    telepromter (something like this
    http://www.murrayhillstudios.com/murrayhillstudios_files/teleprompt03.jpg),
    and that`s why I must provide an option for him to flip the
    images/clips. I`ve used an embeddeb browser to display the SWF
    files. The flipping option has already been implemented for all the
    other formats, including the content on the embedded web browser
    that`s outside the flash plugin.
    Now, that (hopefully) it`d become clearer. Is there a way to
    go around that?
    Thanks.

  • Show a Flash animation frame when opening a Powerpoint presentation

    Hi all,
    I have a Powerpoint presentation that embeds a Flash
    animation (swf file). I use Powerpoint 2003 and a Flash 9
    animation.
    The problem is that when the presentation is opened, no image
    (in fact a frame of the Flash animation) appears on the slide that
    contains the Flash object. Instead, a blank rectangle is displayed.
    To make it appear, I must start the presentation in slide
    show mode (here the animation is playing) and then return to
    'Normal' view. The last animation image is then shown on the slide.
    From now, if I save the presentation, close it and then reopen it,
    no image is shown.
    I have tried with different Flash animation versions and
    noticed that an image is displayed for Flash animation when
    compiled in Flash 7. In a Flash 8 animation, no image appears too.
    It seems that a change since Flash version 8 avoids an image to be
    displayed when opening the Powerpoint presentation.
    Has anyone already met this ? Are there security or other
    changes that will prevent a frame to be displayed when opening the
    presentation ? Any ideas or Internet links will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Dave and thanks for the answer.
    My embedded movie is playing well when we start the slideshow
    mode for the presentation, because it uses the installed activeX
    component (version 9 installed) to render it.
    My problem is that no image (ie the last movie frame
    displayed before exiting the slide show) is displayed the next time
    the presentation opens, even if the file is saved.
    Did you mean that, because the activeX version is newer than
    the PowerPoint 2003 release date, the PowerPoint application is not
    able to get the image (frame) the next time the presentation opens
    (that is, the image to display is embedded into the activeX at a
    specific location, which has changed between Flash player version 7
    and 8) ?
    PS: 1) I have opened the Flash 8 presentation in PowerPoint
    2007 and an image is shown on the slide, which might confirm that
    PowerPoint 2003 is too old to find the frame to be displayed.
    2) I searched into the in-line/off-line documentation and I
    found no paragraph speaking of the Flash version limitation.
    Let me know if I am right.
    Thanks again for the time taken to answer me.

  • .gif Images saved as static images, not animated

    Using the most recent version of Firefox mobile on Android 4.1.2 on a Samsung Galaxy S3. I can download animated .gif images via Firefox to my phone and the saved file will display as a static image. If I download an animated .gif image with the proprietary browser the saved image will display as an animated image.
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks for bringing to the notice, I'm filing a bug regarding this.

  • Animated gifs appear to have image bleedthrough in Internet Explorer 9

    I have been using Photoshop on a Mac for several years to make animated gif files for our company website and for our customers as well and have never had a problem until recently. On some Windows computers, these files are now appearing with ghost images bleeding through from one frame to another. I have made sure that all layers that are not needed in a particular frame are turned off and I have tried various ways of saving the gif out of Photoshop but have had no luck. I did discover if I turned the option for transparency off in the Save for Web and Devices box the image bleed issue would go away, but then white lines appeared in my gifs instead. After doing some research it appears the image bleed problem is happening in the Internet Explorer 9 browser, but does not happen in any other browser I have tested - Safari, Firefox on Mac and Firefox on Windows. Has anyone run across this issue and found any way to resolve it? It's hard to explain to my customers that their files are fine when what they see on their screens is not. Thanks!

    Joel,
    You are doing nothing wrong and it is not a Photoshop issue, but a Microsoft one from what I understand after researching this earlier this year. If you were to check you would NOT have this problem in Firefox on a Windows computer, only IE. I believe it started with version 8, but can't swear to that, but I know for sure it was in IE 9. At any rate the way to "fix" it is to change the Compatibility View Mode in IE. Depending on how this view is set you may see any number of issues including the lines that you descrbe. I've included a screen shot showing where to change this. (The small icon next to the address bar.) On my computer when the icon is blue it displays incorrectly, when it is gray things look as they should. Or you can use Firefox and avoid the problem all together. We even had issues where it made our web content reflow around the graphics incorrectly if we didn't have this set correctly. What's bad about it is that it's hard to explain to your customer why their stuff looks wrong and Microsoft has known about this issue for quite a while and hasn't fixed it.
    Glad you posted on here so I could post back a fix. I usually do when I find a solution, but it took us several months to come up with what was happening and I'd forgotten to post back.

  • CSS appears under Flash anim

    I have a dropdown menu written with CSS in a row above a
    Flash animation. when the dropdown is triggered, the second tier
    menu appears behind the Flash animation... I've tried to set
    different z-index with two DIV tags but it doesnt seem to work. Can
    anyone help??
    Thanks,

    All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
    to speak,
    including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
    Active X controls.
    This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
    is not a good
    cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
    if you can be
    confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
    use the Flash
    wmode parameter.

  • For IE8, can I load static image instead of Edge animation (see page)?

    I'm just roughing out a new site and my Edge animation isn't showing in IE8. I've googled and can't find definitive info on whether Edge 4 has support for IE8. I'm assuming not. My question is... is there a way to load a static image for IE8 so at least there is an image to fill that space? This is just going to be a huge roadblock to me continuing to use Edge unfortunately! IE makes me crazy!!!!!!  http://www.duenorthdesign.com/hwt

    Well if you look at the code in the url you supplied they are serving NON-IE browsers <![if !IE]> desginated by the ! mark the css and scripts files that are needed to make edge run correclty. Looking at the code in your page you don't have any of those scripts attached.

  • JLabel + Animated GIF: replacing the image

    Hi, folks.
    I've run into what looks like an interesting glitch, not necessarily functionality-wise but purely cosmetic.
    I have a JLabel which needs to be switched between a static image and an animated image at different times of execution. I'm doing this more or less like this:
        private JLabel label = new JLabel();
        private ImageIcon inactiveIcon;
        private ImageIcon activeIcon;
        public MyClass()
            inactiveIcon = Utils.loadIcon(...);
            activeIcon = Utils.loadIcon(...);
            setActive(false);
        public void setActive(boolean active)
            label.setIcon(active ? activeIcon : inactiveIcon);
        }It starts up fine and shows the inactive image, which is not animated.
    However, calling setActive(true) seems to cause a flash of grey before showing any animation. The interesting thing is at this point, the image should be completely loaded, so nothing should be blank for any period of time. The other interesting thing is that calling setActive(false) does not cause the flash of grey.
    I've checked the image to make sure all the frames are present and that none are blank.
    I've tried doing this a number of different ways, by Icon.setImage(Image), also by using two labels and setVisible(boolean).
    Has anyone else seen this before? The particular thing which worries me is there isn't a grey flash going the other way. Otherwise I wouldn't think a workaround existed. :-)

    Update. I changed the code to this:
    label = new JLabel() {
    public void update(Graphics g) {
    paint(g);
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    paintComponent(g);
    protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
    ImageIcon icon = (ImageIcon) getIcon();
    icon.paintIcon(this, g, 0, 0);
    };It still greys out. :-/
    I tried label.setUI(new LabelUI() { ... }) with a
    custom paint method also, and it didn't draw anything
    at all, for either label.I'm not sure if you accounted for this but the paint method in the UI is different then the 'public void paintComponent(Graphics g)' method and paint (Graphics g) method in components. The method is 'public void paint(Graphics g, JComponent c)'. Overwriting 'public void paint (Graphics g)' in a UI, is like defining a new method alltogether.
    Did you also make sure to avoid calling 'super.paintComponent()' when overwriting your 'paintComponent(...)' methods? If you did call it, you aren't preventing drawing of previous shapes. This worked for me when I had to do something similar.
    You could also try to draw your icon in your UI, if you haven't done so already.

    Devyn

  • Displaying Static Image of a page in an application

    Hi All,
    Ultimately I'd like to design an app which displays a PDF, however I only really need a static image of the page... no toolbars, etc...
    I've successfully written the app with the Adobe Reader ActiveX component, but there are a few things left to desire.
    1. I can use setShowToolbar and setShowToolbar to disable them and get a fairly static view of the PDF (+/- the annoying tab bar on the left), however when it first renders the object, I see both the scroll bars and toolbars, then it flashes and removes the toolbar, then flashes again and removes the scrollbars. It doesn't seem to matter in what order I call loadFile, setShowToolbar, setShowToolbar... or the delay afterwards in which I wait to show the object. Any way to get rid of this?
    2. I've tried toying with the IViewObject::Draw method with no luck what so ever. I've tried numerous ways in my WM_PAINT message of my window to call this method in hopes of a static rendering to appear. The method returns S_OK, but I get nadda. I've followed examples of using the IWebBrowser object in this way to get a static web page, other than the fact that I call loadFile in the IAxAcroShim object first to give it something to show... This is my first app using an ActiveX component, so any help here would be appreciated.
    3. I noticed a lot of posts on how to remove the tab (nav) bar that appears on the right, and most peeps say "not possible". I tried the approach of finding the window by looking for "AVTabStripView", and just hiding it, and resizing the window with the doc in it to fill in the gap... works ok... The doc window being "AVPageView".

    Well, the ActiveX control is exactly what I want... to view a PDF in my app just the way it is. I was only trying to produce a static view to get rid of the annoying flashes that happen when the toolbar and scrollbars are disabled. I don't care that the user can re-enable them, or do what they want, I'm only showing it initially with the toolbar off since the window is small and I want to maximize the document in the window for the users benefit. So, perhaps "static" wasn't the best word for it.
    The purpose of the app is simply to display Adobe Reader as a child window inside of a full-screen app so that the user doesn't need to alt-tab continuously to compare data. The parent app runs in full-screen, with no "windowed" mode available. I'm using ActiveX instead of the app directly so that the PDF can the displayed in a portion of the screen that makes sense. And all the PDFs being displayed are single page... i.e. displaying a manual for a game, from within the game, but the window itself is decorated to go with the game...
