Clarify something for us here. Does your computer boot and you can enter bios and windows screen is loading ? Or is the screen black and nothing really happens, except the power comes on ?

  • Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7901 Bios update Pc wont boot

I recently downloaded a bios file for my laptop form the support site to reinstall my bios, i made a boot disk from the image and restarted my PC, the bios screen opened and appeared to be working, but my PC shut down during the process and now when I hit the power button the sceen doesn't turn on but the CPU fan and indicator lite will turn on, also i attempted to put the bios image disk in after this to see if it might run even tho the bios appear to be damaged since it acts like it reads from the rom, but no luck. Any suggestions would be great I love my satellite and would hate for the bios to be such an issue.

Try taking the battery out and disconnecting the power from it.
Then hit the pwer button to make sure the capacitors are discharged.
Then reconnect the power and battery and see if it will post.  I have seen that work on a few occasions.

I read a thread somewhere in this forum saying 1.8 is good if you have Sempron (E6?). If by some reason you have to flash 1.8, search for User syar2003's post. I followed his procedures and I flashed 1.6 successfully. Bios 1.5 gave me a lot of troubles.

(although, there is a good chance with v1.6 for P6N SLI Platinum, the last two BETA BIOS Releases mention fixes and patches for Wolfale CPUs.)

    Bios info: A7376AMS V1.BO 062110

I went to the MSI website and ran their Live Update 5 program which showed that I could update my Bios among other things. I selected the new bios for download, followed the instructions for the Windows flash (vs Dos flash). Seemed to go ok but now Windows 7 won't boot.
It does go through the boot process then comes to a screen that ask to start Windows normally or go into System Recovery Options. If I try to start normally, I get the windows logo where it says Windows and the four colored dots start moving, then it reboots.
If I go into System Recovery Options, and I go through startup repair i get the following in the Diagnosis and repair details: Root cause found: A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding.

Not sure how the OS was loaded, that was many years ago.
Well, please check before touching the BIOS again, as I noticed:

If you flashed the BIOS and cleared the CMOS, you'll need to re-enable the RAID controller.
Go to BIOS Setup > Integrated Peripherals > On-chip ATA Devices, and set 'Onchip RAID controller' to [Enabled].

THeres what i downloaded, shortly after i tried to restart my comp but it was all frozen. I used the button to turn it off and when i turn it back on its all black. Nothing happens, it just sits there. What the ****? This is the biggest bull that has ever happened.
How can u download an update and now ur computer is useless? Any ideas? Thx.

    I have a P105-S6024
    I downloaded the Flash Bios
    03-04-2009 BIOS
ACPI FLASH BIOS 4.70 for Satellite blah blah blah.
While it was working the install got frozen and my comp froze. So i turned it off with the button and it never came back on. Well the screen is black, the fan works, the icon that looks like a cake blinks and then turns off.
I dont understand. Toshiba said i might have to replace motherboard? WTF! Are you serious my computer was fine before this. I was just playing Killing Floor everything was going great and i decided to update some stuff. I really wish i didnt do this man, this is bull. I dont have the money to fix this right now if it is a motherboard problem.

  • K7N2 - Bios Checksum Error - But wont load program to flash bios

Hi there, my computer restarted itself due a problem with windows (kernel dll or something arather), since then it wont boot at all, beeps twice and says Bios Checksum error.
Now i understand this means the Bios is corrupted and i need to re-flash it. I looked at instructions on how to do this and followed them to the button. However, it wouldnt load a boot disk at all so i reset the Cmos using the jumpers.
After reseting it would now read the disk (i can hear it make noises) but it would only get as far as starting to load the award flash program, i.e. it just says "Starting..." but then the disk will stop reading at it will just hang then doing nothing.
I've tried numerous disks and numerous bios version numbers (but obviously the right ones for my motherboard: K7N2 Delta series Ms-6570), and i've tried using different types of bootdisk all with the same result.
Is there anything else i can do? or is it pretty much screwed and i have to take it back to the shop i bought it from and request a new bios chip (technically its still under warranty, as its only 10 months old but would this be covered with the warranty?). I can foresee taking it back being a huge hassle so if there is anything i can do to avoid this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I never cleared the cmos with the power on. Sorry i didnt make it clear, but yeah i always made sure the power was completely out. I left the battery out last night too, but still no change. All cables are on right, and I'll try taking out all the cdrom and cd when i get home. I cant get into Bios (pushing del key). all i get is two beeps and boot block telling me that there is a Bios Rom Checksum error (again, sorry i wasnt being very clear).
I think it might be pretty much stuffed. I'm tempted just to go to the store and buy another one as they aren't too expensive and probably not too much of a price difference from getting a new bios chip and having to wait for 2 weeks while it gets delivered. But then again maybe i should just be patient and save myself some money.
Hmm, could it be due to bad RAM? I'll try swapping it with my brother's and see what happens. It's kind of ridiculous that they give the same generic error message for a multitude of different problems, someone should fix that.

  • K9N Diamond - Wont boot after BIOS update

Just attempted to update the BIOS on my PC and it now wont boot.  Used LiveUpdate with the Windows flash option (don't have FD drive).  The lights on the D-Bracket 2  get as far as LED 2 Green, 1,3,4 Red.  I have already tried to Clear CMOS with no joy.
Any suggestions on how to proceed much appreciated  - and yes, I already know, I've probably done something stupid
    Thanks
    Grant.

power down PC, remove power cord from the PSU, push several times power button to drain capacitors, then Clear CMOS and leave only one memory stick into DIMM slot close to CPU socket. pull back power cord and try to boot.
in a future do not update the BIOS for no reason....(only becouse its new, only becouse new BIOS maybe got a new logo and e.g...)
Looks like I'm back in business now.  I found similar instructions at this location  http://www.bosamar.com/K9N/trouble.html and followed the First Procedure.
Booted ok with one mem stick, in bios fail safe mode.  I counted 7 short beeps while booting then one long beep.  Not sure if this is ok.  Read about bios beeps here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=82221.0 and the final long beep seems to indicate a pass???.  Anyway, Vista appeared to come up ok and I checked everything in the hardware device manager and all looked fine.
Proceed to reboot with all mem sticks back in place, again same beeps but Vista coming up ok.
Next I switched bios to optimized defaults, but now 6 short beeps - no long beep.  Windows looks ok.  6 beeps appear to indicate a keyboard problem, but kbd seems to work fine???
System looks ok now, but not sure if i should look into those beeps a bit more?  BIOS now at 1.3, should I leave as is or revert to an earlier revision?
One thing I know that I am going to do is to install the FD drive from my old PC
    Thanks for all the help.
BTW, the reason I did the BIOS flash was as a last resort to get my sound to work.  Tried the various creative driver as suggest elsewhere on this forum but without success (as of yet there is no official vista compatible audio driver for my mb from MSI).  The JAUD1 connector looks to be connected as specified in manual (but no audio from either the front nor real panel audio connectors).

  • M30x bios does not detect hard drive, wont boot from HD

Can someone help me in this issue.
My Sat m30x wont boot from Hard Drive, instead tries to boot from network.
Tried to load setup defaults and Hd wont show on the settings
tried to reistal origin CD software by toshiba and the message no target drive displays
Can this be a hardware problem, some damaged fisical conection, or is it a bios problem
thanks in advance for some ligth on this problem

My M30x has the same problem. I just have used it for 2 months.
I sent it to the repair center as I was told to do, because it has warranty.
I'm still waiting for a response from them. I don't know what caused it.

  • My macbook air wont boot up. Just beeps every 5 seconds and a white light flashes on front of keyboard

My macbook air wont boot up. Just beeps every 5 seconds and a white light flashes on front of keyboard

That normally indicates an issue with system memory. The startup sequence can't complete the boot due to a memory issue. Take it in for service.

  • Wont boot: I get beeps and flashing sleep light

The PB-T boots to a beeping noise and then the sleep light flashes once: long, then 3 short flashes.
I reseated the RAM and swapped RAM, to no avail.
Wont boot from anything even install disks. Did the PRAM too (which never does anything). Tried the reset switch on the back too. Nothing.
Ideas? I remember the beeps are usually related to RAM. no?
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
It sounds like you have no good RAM banks, which basically means a new/replacement LB. May not be cost-effective for an older TiBook to replace the LB.

  • After v1.90 BIOS update Satellite Pro A300-1EA wont boot up

I have just upgraded my laptop to the new BIOS as stated in the title but after doing it my computer now wont boot up at all. I just get a blue screen with it asking me to do a CHKDSK because there might be a virus or that the hard drive isn't connected properly (when it is), and it just keeps rebooting.
It wont start in safe mode either. Anyone else had the same problem and if so, how do I get my laptop back?? :(
    Thanks for any replies.

Please don't be mad on me but I think you really didn't read users manuals you got with your notebook. There is exactly described how you can have factory settings again.
So, now you are 100% sure that recovery image is not on the HDD but you don't know how to have factory settings again. Strange.
Remove battery, connect AC adapter only and disconnect all attached external devices.
Start your notebook and enter BIOS settings. Set it to default settings and try to start OS again.
    What happen exactly?

  • Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....
Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.
I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Martin.

    Hi mate,
Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really wont boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.
I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and its just some BIOS related thing.
Hope your machine will work again..
