Flash brush improvements.

Like many, I like to draw and animate in Flash. But today I
downloaded Toon Boom Animate (which sells for about the same as
Flash pro) and I quickly noticed: the brush tool in Toon Boom
Animate blows the Flash brush away! Even the Illustrator brush is
no match! Most people ask for the ability to create custom brushes,
but just in the way the Flash brush behaves - unpredictable; even
with my Wacom. Every thing you draw in Flash, regardless of style,
has this ‘Flash look’. I think that’s bad thanks
to a sub par brush tool. If any of you tried or use Toon Boom
Animate, you’ll see what I mean. I hope Adobe improve the
brush tool for Cs5…

I totally agree with you - I have Toon Boom products and the
brush tool in
Animate is the best feeling and looking vector experience to
date imo. There
are many great things to consider with TB products as well as
Flash. Both
can do amazing things as we know and this shouldn't turn into
a debate
between them - but again, I agree, the brush tool in Animate
is wonderful.

    Hi Talonnn,
This issue has been fixed internally and the same will be available to you as part of the upcoming Flash CC release.

  • Thumbnail view of PS brushes: Improvements in CS4?

While I no way intend to upgrade from PSCS2, especially in view of all the problems mentioned here with drivers, video cards, etc., I was nonetheless curious to know if the thumbnail view of brushes had been improved. I depend on a streamlined workflow, and I constantly find that PS thwarts me in that respect....

OK, sounds like you found the File Type Association.
As for the display, for some years, the old psicon.dll has been gone from Windows. For a few versions, one could just add it to Windows, but I do not believe that has worked since Vista. Instead, use Bridge, and not Windows Explorer.
As this has been an issue for years, it could well be that MS, or Adobe, will rewrite the psicon.dll to work with Win7, or that someone else will take up the challenge of doing so. Could already be out there, and I have just not heard of it.
    Good luck,

  • Flash Brush tool grayed out?

Hey, for one reason or another, my brush tool only allows me to select color and smoothing. Stroke, style, scale, and everything else is grayed out and will not let me change it. It is very frustrating, and I'd gladly accept some help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Trevor

    Hi Trevor,
Stroke, style, scale, and everything else is grayed out because Flash has its own default brush sizes and brush shape. You can access these in the tools panel. While the brush tool is selected in the tools panel, look toward the bottom of the panel and you will see several different brush modifiers such as Brush Mode, Brush Size, and Brush Shape.
You can find more information on the brush tool here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WS9C02226F-F77F-4723-8874-210FE38898C4.html#WSd 60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7e77a.

  • CS5 Flash Brush Tool and Stage Issue

    http://oi44.tinypic.com/fooozl.jpg
I have two issues while using CS5 Flash right now and it's driving me crazy.
For the first issue. (Number 1)
How do I make it so that the dots do not appear after I draw something with the brush? Whenever I draw something with the brush and select it with the mouse, it goes into a, "Dot" image that is shown in the image. This should not happen. I remember there was a setting that made it so that all objects drawn by the brush are completely solid when you select it with the mouse tool. Which setting is this?
For the second issue, (Number 2)
How do I expand the overall working stage that I use within my image? Whenever I click and drag and object to the right, it gives me a bit more room to see the overall object when I zoom out.  But than it stops. How do I make the overall stage larger so I can see all of my objects that I have?
Please, someone help me out here.
    Thank-You.

select the brush tool.  in the properties panel is a smoothing parameter that you can adjust from 0 to 100.  try 0 and see if that's what you want.

    Hi,

  • Flash Builder improvements, Syntax coloring, Custom format, Auto close

    Hello,
I'm trying Flash Builder 4.7 but I see there is missing features in the Softaware.
I didn't found this important features in the preferences and I think you could add this new features in the new version of FB:
Syntax coloring like Flash Professional: Coloring the AS3 keywords properties and methods like (addChild, x, y, width, height, etc.)
Custom format code. In FB 4.7 there no way to custom the format code in AS3 but you can do it for Java.
AutoClose : Inserts matching bracket, paren, brace or quote
    A list of color themes
I hope it will help to improve this software.
    Cheers.

I've always had the feel/assumption that Flash is more of a priority to Adobe than Flex / FlashBuilder evere was/is. Try using FlashDevelop with Flash to compile.
If by action we can assume answer then the following I would assume:
Adobe: Don't fix old bugs in FlashBuilder even when it was still named Flex, only seen updates to major / critical bugs
Assumed reasoning for this: Low priority product, not enough resource allocated to product development, no development time assigned to enhancing / correcting the old components, eclipse product enhancement is beyond their skill set, or just simply don't care...... pick one and go with it.
Joe Public: Requested better code colouring, syntax highlighting, language recognition (many years ago)
Adobe: Added new commands to intelisense and informational popups when they arrived but apart from that not much else has been done.
Assumed reasoning for this: Low priority product, not enough resource allocated to product development, no development time assigned to enhancing / correcting the old components, eclipse product enhancement is beyond their skill set, or just simply don't care...... pick one and go with it.
Joe public: Left to hoping Eclipse plugins can help with this

  • Sharpness brush improvement

The sharpness brush will become more and more useless for creative sharpening as sensor MP will increase (think of the incoming D800 with probably 36MP).
Why not set a default radius proportionnal to the size of the image? Or add a custom radius slider?
Most of use use the clarity brush now to bring out details as the sharpening brush has a too small radius.

    Please change this!!!!
In my old version (2.6) I really appeciated the way to  swich between "before and after" just by cliquing on "<".
Now  this short cut change the exposition???

  • Exporting SWF Images in Flash CC

I'm running Flash CC and have been trying to export a swf image file just under 40kb. Swf is the accepted file format for an online ad campaign and I'm struggling finding the best way to combine quality and file size. The image is static. If I could use a png or jpg I would...
Flash keeps exporting files sized at 9kb and they are horrible quality. Any advice on how to change the export settings in Flash to improve the image quality and maximise my 40kb limit would be greatly appreciated.
I tried exporting the image through InDesign and the smallest file size I could get was 130kb with decent quality after exporting as a jpg and re-exporting. Unfortunately lowering the quality of the jpg only helped lower it from 250kb to 130kb... Not quite enough... Suggestions on exporting smaller swf files via InDesign would be greatly appreciated (though I think I have maximised the settings).
I have read tutorials and googled for hours. Any suggestion is welcome at this stage!

edit your image in photoshop and experiment with various settings/size.  there's no magic high quality small file size setting.
it's a trade-off.  the higher the quality and the greater the image dimensions, the greater the file size.  you have to decide where those are acceptable.

  • Flash on search engines

    Hi,
Does the latest version of flash (8) improved enough to make
    flash sites
    more SEO friendly?
    anyone has any tips?
    thanks in advance!

I've tried another way using php, not sure is it a proper
way, but so far it is quite efficient. Check this site
    http://www.muzakraf.com/
1 website, 1 php, multiple swf files, 1 for each page, pages
swf loaded into 1 main swf. Each page of the flash site indexed by
    those major search engine.

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.muzakraf.com&bwmf=d&bwm= p&bwms=p
May be there are some other better way. Give me some feedback
    too.

  • Flash and Search Engine Indexing

    Hi all,
I am sure this is a newbie question that has been answered before but does using
flash on a website affect how the site is indexed by the main search engines?
    thanks
    TermPat

Well in theory, search engines like Google are suppose to be able to read the text used in Flash Website, improving SEO somewhat. But in my experience, it has not developed to a point that is equal to a straight HTML site. In particular, if you are using xml files to provide text or other data to the Flash pages, I don't see Google indexing that text.
So as a backup, I would suggest using swfobject to place your Flash on the Web page. Then add plenty of regular HTML as "alt content" to descibe in great detail the graphic elements. Since most viewers will not see this "alt content" you can actually over do the descriptions and get in MORE unique phrases, descriptions, and text content, than if you were just using HTML.
So in effect, you can get your graphic elements displayed with Flash but the text data described in HTML. Is it more work? Yes, But if SEO is important to you, Flash of and by itself will not index as well as just HTML.
Here's an example of using "alt content" to descibe the products in much greater detail than what you actually see on the Flash page. First view the Web page, its just a simple .swf with a little text on it. Then view the source code and see the "alt content" that lies behind the Flash.:
    http://www.ksowetsuits.com/
    For more info on swfobject:
    http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/
Here's a little tip to measure exactly when and what gets indexed on your site. Create a unique word that cannot be found ANYWHERE on the Internet, something like "myuniquewordisdellamagestic"...can't be found anywhere on Google.
So include your special words in both your Flash file as well as the swfobject "alt content", using 2 unique words, to see which is indexed first. As soon as that word is indexed, it will appear top position, first page. So Google for it every so often, once it shows up you know that content has been indexed. See which gets indexed first, the text in Flash or the text in the "alt content".
I had one site where I used a complete text narration of a Flash video as the "alt content" and had the VIDEO (actually it's alt content) indexed within 4 hours. Now that's a case where using Flash PLUS alt content give a better WEb page than just the Flash alone or just the text narration alone. Best of both worlds I would say.
    Best wishes,

  • Firefox - "Shockwave Flash Unresponsive" on Windows 8 and Windows XP

shockwave flash unresponsive in windows xp

That's an interesting proposition.  My cursory testing shows that with Protected Mode for Firefox enabled, Flash does not take down the tab when it crashes, even with PluginContainer disabled.  I can definitely see how eliminating a layer of IPC communication between Firefox and Flash could improve the situation with some of these deadlocks, as much of it is related to messaging getting dropped or arriving out of order to one of the intermediary processes.
There's a little more background about what's going on, here:  Inside Flash Player Protected Mode for Firefox

  • Recording Audio through/with Flash

    Hello,
We are working with a client who has a project that they need
a customer to record audio from their computer. We want to do the
designs in Flash. Does anybody have an idea or suggestion on how to
record audio through flash (swf) or what software would be useful
    in conjunction with?
    Thanks!

You can capture audio from a microphone quite easily in
    Flash:
    var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone();
    mic.setLoopBack(); //Routes audio to speakers
However saving audio has always been a problem in Flash. It
is a tricky work-around process. You can only send to a server
running Flash Media Server and then convert the audio using a tool
like the one used for this project:
    http://blog.andrewpaulsimmons.com/2007/05/recording-audio-with-flash-player-to.html#links
Recorded audio in Flash uses the NellyMoser codec, which is a
low quality mono only audio codec designed for voice only. I found
a decoder here as well as the one listed at the link above:
    http://code.google.com/p/nelly2pcm/downloads/list
Hopefully Flash will improve in this field in the
    future.
