Flash Builder 4 - Button

Hello,
I'm seeing on the Help - Flash builder some information about Flash Builder and Flex 4.... I see an example with <mx:Button ....
But if I do it in Flash Builder there isn't <mx:Button is it doc old?
Thanks
Do you think is better to start with Flex Builder?

<mx:Button/> is the Flex 3 Halo button and is still available in Flash Builder, but the default button is the new spark <s:Button/>. This spark component is recommended to use, but you can still enter the mx button component directly in the source view if you want to use the older button for some reason.
If you are just starting out and don't have a mission critical project, I would keep working with Flash Builder 4 Beta.

• Flash Builder 4.7 is breaking my buttons

Hi,
I have a project that works fine in 4.6, but in 4.7 all the buttons in my swc are swapped. What I mean is that the art for the buttons is randomly changed for other art in the swc.
Is this a bug? Is there a fix?
Cheers.

I'm having this same issue that was documented 7 months ago: http://inflagrantedelicto.memoryspiral.com/2012/12/flash-builder-4-7-useflashsdk/
Has Adobe still not fixed it?

• Are Flash Professional Buttons broken in Flash Builder 4.7/AIR 3.4?

Moved my ActionScript Mobile Project game from Flash Builder 4.6 / AIR 3.2 yesterday to the new release of 4.7 / AIR 3.4. I immediately ran into a problem with Flash Professional Button's working incorrectly. The buttons have linkages in a SWC exported from Flash Professional CS6, which the project has linked. The content of the buttons doesn't seem to matter. It seems to break in different ways visually depending on it's composition (sometimes it loads unreleated bitmap data or displays with a strange transformation). Has anyone else seen this behaviour so far?

I don't have the time to create a unique project for adobe bug database. So many are having the same issue, I'm shocked that Adobe doesn't know about this already. This discussion that I'm writing in right now was started in december, almost 7 months ago.

• SWC buttons not working in a Flash Builder 4.7 ActionScript Project

Howdy,
I have this BIG issue. Every button in my swc causes issues when compilling in Flash Builder 4.7. Two things will happen, one or the other:
1. I get this error in the class that extends a linked library item:
Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds.
2. The swf compiles with no errors but all buttons display the wrong art.
Both problems go away when I remove the buttons.
I found this article:
http://inflagrantedelicto.memoryspiral.com/2012/12/flash-builder-4-7-useflashsdk/
I tried this solution but it did not work.
This problem occurs with all my projects. I'm creating SWCs via Flash Pro, and using them in a Flash Builder ActionScript Project.
Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks!

Hi,
I followed the directions here: http://inflagrantedelicto.memoryspiral.com/2012/12/flash-builder-4-7-u seflashsdk/
But the only "Use Specific SDK:" options are Flex 4.6.0 and Flex 3.6a.
When I select Flex 4.6.0 (under "Use Specific SDK:"), I get errors, it seems that some sub classes don't have access to their parents protected methods and properties. The only way to fix this is to delete the project and create it again.
I downloaded the apache flex SDK, and added it via the Flash Builder preferences. Then went into the project and set "Use Specific SDK:" to the appache flex. This brought up more errors, double clicking the errors wouldn't take me to any class, they where mostly something about bitmap...
And the only way to fix it is to delete the project and create it again.
Should I not use Flash 4.6? or not use SWCs? This is really frustrating.

• How to link an image to a button in Flash Builder 4

I am new to Flash Builder 4 and have trouble to link an image to a button in Flash Builder 4.
For example, I want an image of a round green button to replace the default retangle button in Flash Builder 4.
Can anyone help me up?

You could also use the mx:Image control and just add a click event handler:
function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

protected function image1_clickHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {

• Buttons became inactive Flash Builder 4.7

Hello !
I realized an application on Flash Builder 4.7. This application has links which dismissals(cross-references) towards plans, maps of various formats (.tif, .dwg...).
it is situated on a server (Windows 2008) and since a few days, buttons became inactive for those who point at a file (\\ localhost\SIG\image.tif, for example) but continue to work on links URL (http://SIG/...).
Yet, no evolution of program was recently realized.
Further to the tests that I realized, I wonder if that would not come from updates Windows.
Indeed, buttons are inactive on all the PC (Windows 7) which undergo updates frequently. Only my computer PC (Windows XP), connected to no network (except in this case of test) downloads no update and the application works correctly (buttons open the window to 'Download' or to 'Open').
Maybe that I get lost
After multitude of researches, I don't too much know what to do any more. Would anybody have had this problem? Does he know how to solve it?
Thank you in advance for your help. And sorry for my English.
Good day in all

• Where is the "done" button in Flash CS4 when using Flash Builder 4's new flash component or container?

The documentation for Flash Builder 4 beta says that after opening flash from flash builder, I should click a "done" button in flash and flash should close and what I created in flash should be included as a component or container in Flash Builder. Using the Flash Builder 4 beta on Windows, when I click on the "create in flash" button on the properties panel for either the new flash component or container, Flash CS4 opens, I create something in Flash and no "done" button is present. Nor is anything present in the menus resembling a "done" option. Where is it?

Hi Jeffrey:
Still no done button. Now under commands in Flash I can convert symbols to flex components and containers and these show up in the Flash library.
Thanks:

I apparently didn't get one. I've looked under various workspace configurations. Another thing that seems odd is that when Flash opens I get the opening panel that allows me to select the type of file and version of AS I want to use. I select new file with AS3. Any ideas on why the "done" button wouldn't be present and if the opening panel is what I should expect on opening Flash after clicking the "create in Flash" button?

• Flash Builder 4.6 Eclipse plug in, Eclipse crashes when browse button clicked

Ever since I added the AIR components for iOS platform to Flash Builder 4.6 following this procedure,
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/899/cpsid_89938.html
Eclipse crashes every time I click a "Browse" button that is supposed to open a file directory.
Eclipse SDK
Version: 3.7.1
Build id: M20110909-1335
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm on Mac OS X 10.7.2
Thanks.

This sounds like something has gone wrong during installation. CSAR and CSLIBS references should be set up automatically during installation.
There should also be no need to import the Flex SDKs as CS Extension Builder 2.0 ships with them included. It won't do any harm though having the CS Flex SDKs imported.
Can you detail how you installed CS Extension Builder 2.0, please and where you obtained it from?
Here are the installation instructions I would recommend starting from a clean FlashBuilder 4.6 instance:
To install Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder, download the ZIP file and unzip it into a root location (SDKRoot).
Install Extension Builder in Eclipse with Flash Builder or Flash Builder Standalone:
In Eclipse, choose Help > Install New Software.
In the Install dialog, click Add.
In the Add Site dialog, click Local... to browse to the SDK root folder or enter the URL of the update site.
Name the site CS SDK and click OK to confirm the changes.
Select the new CS SDK site in the "Work with" field.
-- Select all the Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder components.
-- Click Next to confirm the selection.
In the Install Details review dialog, click Next to confirm that you want to install all the components listed.
Accept the terms of license agreements and click Finish.
Re-start  Eclipse as recommended.
I obtained it from Adobe and installed it using the Help > Install software option, but without unzipping it. Maybe that was it.
Now I've done a clean installation and it works perfect. I did it with administrator permissions, don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I read it somewhere and did so just in case!
Thanks a lot!

• Flash Builder 4.5 Data Services Wizard, setting up REST service call returns Internal Error Occurred

Dear all -
I am writing with the confidence that someone will be able to assist me.
I am using the Flash Builder Data Services Wizard to access a Server that utilizes REST type calls and returns JSON objects. The server is a JETTY server and it apparantly already works and is returning JSON objects (see below for example). It is both HTTP and HTTPS enabled, and right now it has a cross-domain policy file that is wide open (insecure but its not a production server, it's internal).
The crossdomain file looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*" secure="false"   />
<allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" secure="false"/>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only" />
</cross-domain-policy>
The crossdomain file is in the jetty server's root directory and is browseable via HTTP and HTTPS (i.e. browsing to it returns the xml)
Now before all of you say that using wizards sucks (generally) I thought I would utilize the FB Data Services Wizard as at least it would provide a template for which I could build additional code against, or replace and improve the code it produces.
With that in mind, I browse to the URL of the Jetty Server with any web browser (for example, Google Chrome, Firefox or IE) with a URL like this (the URL is a little confidential at the moment, but the structure is the same)
https://localhost:somePort/someKey/someUser/somePassword/someTask
*somePort is the SSL port like 8443
*someKey is a key to access the URL's set of services
returns a JSON object as a string in the web browser and it appears like the following:
{"result":success,"value":"whatEverTheValueShould"}
Looks like the JSON string/object is valid.
I went through the Flash Builder Data Services Wizard to set up HTTP access to this server. The information that I filled in is described below:
Do you want to use a Base URL as a prefix for all operation URLs?
YES
Base URL:
https://localhost:8443/someKey/
Name                    : someTask
Method                    : POST
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
URL                              : {someUser}/{somePassword}/someTask
Service Name: SampleRestapi
Services Package: services.SampleRestapi
datatype objects: valueObjects:
Completing the wizard, I run the Test Operation command. Remember, no authentication is needed to get a JSON string.
It returns:
InvocationTargetException: Unable to connect to the URL specified
I am thinking - okay, but the URL IS browseable (as I originally was able to browse to it, as noted above).
I continue to test the service by creating a Flex application that accepts a username and password in a form. when the form is submitted, the call to the service is invoked and an event handler returns the result. The code is below (with some minor changes to mask the actual source).
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
xmlns:SampleRestapi="services.SampleRestapi.*"
minWidth="955" minHeight="600">
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
protected function button_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
isUserValidResult.token = SampleRestAPI.isUserValid(userNameTextInput.text,passwordTextInput.text);
protected function SampleRestAPI_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
// print out the results
txtAreaResults.text = event.result.message as String;
// txtAreaResults.appendText( "headers \n" + event.headers.toString() );
]]>
</fx:Script>
<fx:Declarations>
<SampleRestapi:SampleRestAPI id="SampleRestAPI"
fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString + '\n' + event.fault.faultDetail)"
result="SampleRestAPI_resultHandler(event)"
showBusyCursor="true"/>
<s:CallResponder id="isUserValidResult"/>
<!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
</fx:Declarations>
<s:Form defaultButton="{button}">
<s:FormItem label="UserName">
<s:TextInput id="userNameTextInput" text="q"/>
</s:FormItem>
<s:FormItem label="Password">
<s:TextInput id="passwordTextInput" text="q"/>
</s:FormItem>
<s:Button id="button" label="IsUserValid" click="button_clickHandler(event)"/>
<s:FormItem  label="results:">
<s:TextArea id="txtAreaResults"/>
</s:FormItem>
</s:Form>
</s:Application>
It's a simple application to be sure. When I run it , I get the following returned in the text area field txtAreaResults:
An Internal Error Occured.
Which is equivalent to the following JSON string being returned:
{"success":false,"value":"An Internal Error Occured"}
It appears that the call is being made, and that a JSON object is being returned... however it does not return the expected results?
Again the URL constructed is the same:
https://www.somedomain.com:somePort/someKey/someUser/somePassword/someTask
So I am wondering what the issue could be:
1) is it the fact that I am browsing the test application from an insecure (http://) web page containing the Flex application and it is accessing a service through https:// ?
2) is the JSON string structurally correct? (it appears so).
3) There is a certificate enabled for HTTPs. it does not match the test site I am using ( the cert is for www.somedomain.com but I am using localhost for testing). Would that be an issue? Google Chrome and IE just asks me to proceed anyway, which I say "yes".
Any help or assistance on this would be appreciated.
thanks
Edward

Hello everyone -
Since I last posted an interesting update happened. I tested my Flex application again, it is calling a Jetty Server that returns a JSON object, in different BROWSERS. I disabled HTTPS for now, and the crossdomain.xml policy file is wide open for testing (ie. allowing every request to return data). So the app accessing the data using HTTP only. Browsers - IE, Opera, Firefox and Chrome. Each browser contained the SAME application, revision of the Flash Player (10.3.183.10 debugger for firefox, chrome, opera, safari PC; 11.0.1.129 consumer version in IE9,) take a look at the screen shot (safari not shown although the result was the same as IE and chrome)
Note that Opera and Firefox returned successful values (i.e. successful JSON objects) using the same code generated from the Data Services Wizard. Chrome, IE and, Safari failed with an Internal error. So I am left wondering - WHY? Is it something with the Flash Player? the Browsers? the Flex SDK? Any thoughts are appreciated. Again, the code is found in the original thread above.

• How to use the Google Android Emulator in Flash Builder on Windows 7?

I want to try out Flash Builder to create an app, but I cannot find out how to use the Google Android Emulator in Flash Builder. The simulators in Flash Builder work, and the android emulator is installed correctly and can run. I just can't seem to connect them. How do I do that?

Hi Pahup,
Thank you for your reply!!
I adapted an Android App using Flash CC on a Mac. I already published this App for the Apple App Store. When I published the App for Android I chose Air 3.7.xxx for Android. I also created the p12 certificate using Flash CC in the publishing settigns for Android. So my App is theoretically finished and ready for Upload.
When I went to the Google Play Store Developer Console I had the options to
1.) Upload APK
or
2.) Prepare Store Entry
...so I prepared the Store entry first. When I go to "APK"-Tab in the console it looks like this:
... it says "Upload APK" and the Button below "Get Licence Key". When I click on the license Key Button it looks like this:
So I think I should enter this RSA-Key somehow into my App BEFORE uploading it to the Google Play Store. This is recommended when an Ap is set to be paid. My Application is set to paid.
I did not use any kind of licensing API (until now - cause I don´t know how and what it is for)
This is all new to me. It is the first App I want to bringt to the Android market. I really hoped it would be as easy as getting an app into the Apple App Store. I found so many step by step instructions for dummies on "How to get an Flash iOS App into the App Store plus creating all the certificates needed", so I thought it would be the same for Android. But there is no help at all at the moment. I am totally confused.
So any help, hint or instrusction would be great!!
By the way - this is the App I want to get into the Google Play Store

• Flash Builder 4.7 SWC contents garbled, works in FlashDevelop

I have an all-defaults Action Script - Desktop (Runs in Adobe AIR) project with a single MovieClip on the stage from a SWC file created in newest Flash Pro CC. The MovieClip contains buttons, text, etc, for a menu system.
When I build and run it in my regular IDE (Flash Develop), it looks correct:
http://snag.gy/7UFFN.jpg
When I build and run in Flash Builder, it is a complete mess:
http://snag.gy/7Er2e.jpg
The problem is more than visual; DisplayObjects within GfxMainMenu have been randomly swapped with others from the same SWC. When I try to hook up my buttons, I find some of them are actually missing. The weird upside-down ghost logo MovieClip has actually replaced the orange SimpleButton. Needless to say this makes profiling difficult. I've been having this problem with Flash Builder for 3 years across many versions of FB, AIR, Windows, etc etc. Every year I try again with a new approach, hopeful that they've fixed this and I might be able to use FB's excellent profiler for this project. But the basic issue is the same: FB hates the contents of this SWC and I can't find a way to cleanse the demons from it.
This is the code:
public function Main():void
addChild(new GfxMainMenu());
You can download the project and SWC here - I'd love to know if others can at least recreate this:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11786661/FlashBuilderTest.zip
Anybody have any clues?

Looking into this further, all the garbled symbols appear to be SimpleButtons. Their up, over, and down states are either blank, or they contain random symbols from elsewhere in the file. Many of my buttons contain dynamic TextFields with embedded fonts... but I think the problem may occur in a situation as simple as having 1 shape-filled button and 2 exported symbols in the same swc. I've been taking things out of the swc or copying them to a fresh fla all morning trying to track down a specific simple example of the bug.
But it's gotten hard as FB started crashing and nuking my workspace repeatedly. I remember how much I hate this thing now. FlashDevelop has a great editor and debugger, and Scout is a good profiler, but there are things that only FB can do. Specifically, tell me which references are preventing my objects from being garbage collected.

• How to create a contact-formular in flash builder 4?

Hello!
Is there any way to create a contact-formular in flash builder 4?
Only three text-boxes (name, email, message) and the "send" button!
I build my page in flash catalyst and export it as an fxp file to flash builder!
What comes next? Please help me!
Greetings

You understood correctly:
- I removed all Build Path > Source Paths
- I moved those paths over to Library Paths > Source attachment
I took inspiration by how the Flex SDK is added to the project. Flex and flex related frameworks (e.g. datavisualization lib) also specify a Source Attachment under Lib Path. If I remove the source attachment I am not able to drill down into Flex code when I want to by Command-clicking on a class name (or hitting F3).
All my SWC are open source. BTW some of the source paths I was using were the path to the Flex code and to datavisualtization lib, which I think are the biggest library I am linking against. So maybe to recreate, just add those 2 libraries and make sure to add the source path AND source attachment.
I am using RSLs for every library if that matters.
I don't understand why specifying a Source Attachment would cause any issues... the swc is in sync with the source specified in its source attachment.

• Output folder in Flash Builder 4.6 refuses to be anything but relative

I just updated from Flash Builder 4.5 to 4.6. Things seemed to be going ok in terms of importing all my projects etc. (why can't there be a simple upgrade process rather than a complete uninstall/reinstall process?)
But then I got to setting the Output Folder within the Flex Build Path section of the properties of my project.
Now, as our dev environments we run glassfish servers locally on our testing machines and build our apps directly into them so our testing process is very quick. This was working fine in Flash Builder 4.5, I point my app's output folder to a location of the form:
C:\Users\myUserName\glassfish3\glassfish\domains\domain1\eclipseApps\appname
And that works fine, set by pasting in from an explorer window or Browsing there via the Browse button next to the field.
Now when I try to do this within Flash Builder 4.6 I get nothing at all appearing if I use the browse button. No error, nothing saying it failed, just an empty field. If I try to paste in anything I get an error from Flash Builder saying '"Paste" did not complete normally."
If I try to just type in the path it fails, it strips the leading C:\ and turns it into a relative path, which is completely useless.
This is getting really annoying!

• Problem signing application to BlackBerry from Flash builder 4.6 premium

Hi,
I would like generate "BlackBerry" version of my application with Flash Builder, for this i'm using this guide.
http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/37176/BlackBerry_Tablet_OS_SDK_for_A dobe_AIR-Getting_Started_Guide_for_Windows_Developers--1943146-1206065540-001-2.0_Beta-US. pdf
First, i have uninstalled older flash builder versions, and i have installed Flash builder 4.6 premium.
After, I have installed the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR.
Next, I have updated the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK plug-in.
But, my problem is using the deployment setup wizard.
I tried with the BlackBerry Tablet Simulator started, but when I click "Run the BlackBerry Tablet OS Deployment Setup Wizard" to configure your development environment, the wizard is not showing.
I would like generate my application, ".bar" file, signed with the reals certificates of BlackBerry. But i don´t know what is the problem.
Somebody have tested if this wizard is working to Flash builder 4.6.
Furthermore, i have tried to setting the reals certificates of BlackBerry, with the preferences window:
Flash Builder > Preferences > Flash Builder > Target Platforms > BlackBerry Tablet OS > Signing.
Such as at this url:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/packaging-air-apps-blackberry.html
But when i click Register button, the dialog is not showing.
Any idea is wellcome.
Thanks

Hi all,
I have found the problem
BlackBerry Tablet OS search a path that don´t exist in my spanish Windows X.
As my system is at spanish, BlackBerry Tablet OS installer create this path:
%HOMEPATH%\Configuraci¾n local\Datos de programa\Research In Motion
To resolve the problem, you must to create the path in english and copy the content of spanish path:
%HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion
By default, code signing keys are stored in a central location in your profile directory and used by all BlackBerry Tablet OS development tools. The default locations of these files vary based on operating system and are outlined in the following table.
Note: In a Windows XP environment, the default %HOMEPATH% is C:\Documents and Settings\<username>. In a Windows Vista and Windows 7 environment, the default %HOMEPATH% is C:\Users\<username>.
Windows XP
%HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion
Windows Vista  and  Windows 7
%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\Research In Motion
Mac OS
~/Library/Research In Motion

• Installing Flex SDK into Flash Builder 4.7 problems

Hi,
Im completely new to Flash Builder, today I have installed Flash Builder 4.7 & Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud for my son to start to learn game programming (with my help), I have used simple coding in web design however this terminology is new to me.
I bought my son the latest 'Foundation Game Design with ActionScript 3.0' book on recommendation but it was written when FB was version 4.5 so im guessing this might be the problem.
The book is very easy to follow but have hit problems at the beginning of the tutorials, the book talks about Flex SDK but it seems that FB 4.7 uses AIR SDK ?
So the first project called HelloWorld, we got up to:
Got an exclamation mark which said
'The import flash.display.Sprite is not used
locally'
Continuing with the rest of the project the exclamation mark disappeared:
However on selecting run- Debug we got a blank Flash Player window ('generate HTML wrapper file' was deselected)
So either we've done something wrong, or the book and FB version are not compatible?
Any advice would be great!
Thank you
Latest ...
I thought that installing Flex SDK may solve the problem but after following instructions I have the error message, see image below. Really stumped now!

Sorry, if I went a little overboard. After re-reading your post, perhaps I should back up a little.
First, there are little things that Flash Builder (FB) will complain about. Having extra import statements in your code doesn't hurt anything. If I'm trying different solutions and then commenting out the code, the import statements will hang around, FB will complain, but just ignore it. If you see a little icon on the left edge of your code editor and its a red circle with an X in it, then that is something that will have to be fixed.
When you create an app in FB or Flash you can choose to create a web app which means it will run in a browser window. The project can optionally create an HTML wrapper, or web page that will load your app. In Flash Pro you can choose File->Publish Settings and there will be a checkbox on the left to publish a HTML wrapper. In FB, you can right click your project in the Package Explorer, select Properties at the bottom, select the ActionScript Compiler, and down at the bottom there will be a checkbox to create a HTML wrapper.
If you're just learning Flash Builder, then the FlexSDK 4.6 and the AIR SDK 3.1 that comes with it should be fine. You mentioned Apache SDK and I'd recently been working with that so I ended up getting side-tracked.
Getting an AIRSDK to work with when build ActionScript projects is easy. Just go to the adobe site, type AIR SDK in the search box, and you should find a page that will let you downloaded the latest version. There's also a page to let you download the latest AIR runtime, and if you were just going to run AIR apps and not build them, then that's all you would need. As a developer you'll want to install the runtime from the downloaded .exe file. With the SDK, after downloading it, installing it is easy. Just create a new folder an unzip the SDK into it, then place it somewhere easy to find. I put all my SDK's in their own directory right off the c: drive. So I have c:\AIRSDK_3.5.0.880 and c:\AIRSDK_3.7.0.1530. I use very descriptive folder names so I always know which SDK's I have to work from.
To use the SDK in Flash Pro select Help -> Manage AIR SDK, hit the plus button and add the folder you created. Now when you've opened a Flash project, you go to File->Publish Settings and select the combo box at the top, you'll see options like 'AIR 3.7.0.1530 for Android' in the list that reflect the SDK's you've added.
Generally with FB you'll be using a FlexSDK, or perhaps a FlexSDK overlaid with a newer version of AIRSDK. Overlaid basically means you copied the contents of the AIR SDK into the Flex Folder. The article I mentioned above will give you all the details on creating those. For instance, I downloaded the Apache Flex installer, installed it, then created an empty folder called c:\ApacheFlexSDK_4.9.1, launched the Apache installer, gave it the new empty folder I'd created, selected all the download options, and let it all download. If it launches a popup box or a security warning, you can allow it, and it will continue. Once you have the SDK and you want to use it with a project in FB, just right click the project, select Properties, selected that Compiler tab again, and up in the right corner you'll see 'Manage SDK's...'. Hit that link, add your new SDK to the list and give it a descriptive name, then selected the checkbox beside it to set it up as your default. If you do this, then all your projects set to use the default will automatically switch to it and rebuild. So if you want a project to stay with a specific SDK then select that option in your Compiler tab, and then you could use the combo box to select your new added SDK.
When I started with FB I think I spent the first 2 days going round and round with project settings and options until I got them all figured out.
When I develop, I usually have my browser open and I have bookmarks and favorites to let me quickly get to all the pages I use most often. Here are a few of them:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/index.html <---- The API reference. In the packages window check out 'Top Level' at the top and Language Elements near the bottom. I think I have this page open in one or more tabs almost every day.
