"Flash Builder" Forum Needed?

Seems like FB has taken over the Flex section, drowning out Flex SDK related discussions.

Perhaps, but there used to be a Flex Builder forum before, IIRC.  Anyway I think it's a moot point because I've heard that they're creating a "Flash Builder" forum.
Maybe I'm just jaded but these "new" forums, and to some degree the store, leave much to be desired.  They don't even work (not even poorly) in the latest version of Opera (10.51) due to poorly written Jive JavaScript.

  • Unanswered Questions in Flash Builder Forum

Hi Adobe - we have some unanswered questions lingering in the Flash Builder forum.
I am looking for a download link for Flash Builder 4.7 - for the non-creative-cloud version.
    OR
Will the creative cloud version work with my Flash Builder 4.7 Premium serial number and should I just install it through the creative cloud process?  I do not really want to go creative cloud at the moment - but I do not know if it is the same Flash Builder 4.7 file anyway and as soon as I put in my serial number it will take me off creative cloud.
So... looking for a Flash Builder 4.7 download link for my non creative cloud serial number.
    Urgent too - thanks!
    Dan

  • Use Native iOS/Android APIs with Flex/Flash Builder 4.5.1?

Is there any documented, official  way to access the native APIs on mobile devices (iOS and/or Android,  specifically)?  Perhaps some sort of ExternalInterface support?  My most  important need for this is importing 3rd party SDKs, the first one  being the Facebook iOS SDK for Single Sign-On.
If not, is support for native APIs planned?  Has anybody figured out an unofficial way to access the native APIs?

Nothing official is available; although there is an AIR for TV Document on building ACtionScript extensions to AIR.  I expect that "approach" will show up in other AIR runtimes.
You can look at this for an "ad-hoc" way to do it: http://www.jamesward.com/2011/05/11/extending-air-for-android/

  • Flash Builder

I have Creative suites CS6 and have been mostly using Photoshop and Illustrator. I would like to learn to use Flash Builder. However, when I try to open the program the cover page comes up on the screen and then disappears without opening the program. All of the other programs in CS6 seem to be working fine. What do I need to do in order to access Flash Builder?

  • Adobe Flash Builder 4 licence is for one desktop and one laptop, only one at a time run or

After installing Adobe Flash Builder 4 needed install AIR? Adobe Flex 4 SDK IS ALREADY INCLUDED?
Adobe Flash Builder 4 licence is for one desktop and one laptop, only one at a time run or...?

    hi,
Flashbuilder has the ability to create and run Air content from the IDE, to actually usean Air App outside of the IDE you need to install Air.
Flashbuilder install includes 2 sdks, the 3.5 sdk for 'backward' compatibility with Flexbuilder and for targeting flashplayer 9, the 4.x SDK for Flashbuilder and  targetting flashplayer 10.0 and above.
As far as fair use is concerned Adobe have had fair use software licensing for a while, single user 2 devices is not a problem, what is not clear is if you can use the software on both devices at the same time.

  • Publishing to Mac from PC with Flash Builder 4.6

I have recently switched from Flash Pro to Flash Builder to write actionscript projects. I would like to publish the finished application for both PC and Mac. I don't want to use the air installer as most potential customers won't have air installed. I have tried the captive runtime option, and this will work well for the PC version, but I am unsure how to package the resulting files for use on a Mac or whether there is a more suitable option for the Mac app (such as the Mac Projector in Flash Pro)
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Flash Builder 4.5 crashes continuously

We have a reasonably complex AIR application, but by and large I would not say it is enormous. It compiles down to an AIR file that is around 6MB. It is broken out into about 6 different modules. We have given the java VM the maximum RAM that it will utilize without complaining (somewhere around 768MB. You can't go to 1024MB or it blows up). Yet, Flash Builder crashes constantly when trying to build, generally with "java heap space" errors. This hurts our development time siginficantly, mostly in the form of developer frustration. We are developing on Windows 7.
I had hoped Flash Builder 4.5 would be an improvement over Flash Builder 4 in this regard. It in fact got worse.
Is there any hope of seeing action on this?
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
I've run into issues with previous versions of Flash Builder (actually when I saw this I was using Flex Builder) and overriding the default allocations seemed to help a bit: http://www.rphelan.com/2008/03/27/tweaking-compiler-performance-in-flex-builder/.  I'd recommend jumping over to the Flash Builder forums and posting the question to see if anyone has any up to date advice.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Flash Builder Macintosh installation problem

I'm trying to install flashbuilder4_b2_mac_100509 on my MacBook running an up to date installation of Snow Leopard.  Despite having no other applications running, I get an error message right at the beginning of the process telling me to close all browsers. I have tried installing immediately after a reboot, again with no other apps running, and still get the same message.

There seems to be no longer a Flash Builder forum where you can post, but perhaps you can ask in the Flex forum?

  • Where can I download Flash Builder 4.6 for PHP Premium?

I purchased FB 4.5 for PHP Premium and was told that I'm entitled to a free upgrade to FB 4.6 for PHP 4.6 Premium.
The download was available in February but is no longer there... Any alternatives?

I have moved this discussion to the Installing and activating Flash Builder forum as the users in this forum should be more familiar with the product availability for Flash Builder.  I did find a reference to a relevant discussion at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/930792.

  • Flash Builder - Design View - can't resize/move objects anymore.

So, I've downloaded the 60 day trial of Flash Builder 4.  I've been working with it for about 2 days and everything has been going fine.  However, for some unknown reason, my design view panel just suddenly stopped working properly.  I see the components (and the gray outlines of my containers) I'm working with, but when I try to click on them, I do not get that blue resizing outline with the handles.  I see the properties panel change when I click different components, but I get no outline.  So, I can no longer resize in this view.  I also can't move components/containers around.  I can only click on them and watch the properties panel change.  I do not believe I've hit any sort of option in the menus.  I closed the application and started it up again with the same result.  I even rebooted my machine and tried again.  As of right now, this problem seems to be permanent.  Any ideas?  Thanks for your time.

I would recommend you post on the Flash Builder forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash_builder

  • Flash Builder 4.5 newbie help

    Hey guys,
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and help me out.  I am currently just learning actionscript 3 and I have been using flash professional in order to program most of my first flash programs,  I would like to take one of my ideas and create it to work on the blackberry playbook, so I downloaded flash builder 4.5 and have set up my whole environment.
The problem im running into is that with flash professional creating movie clips and frames was as easy as adding objects to the library and then setting up the linkage so it could be used by your AS3 coding, frames and layers were added through the UI...well with flash builder I have no idea how to do this as there is no graphical interface, I am just wondering if somebody could explain to me how to create and link movie clips and work with frames using flash builder 4.5....I know this is probably a dumb question but I simply just don;t know
Thanks in advanced for any help

Hi nateatkins, Flash Builder is a software to develop flex and/or as3 applications. Do do things with Flash Builder, you need to code it in .as or .mxml files. Flash gives you the ability to make graphical element, add them to a library, animate them using the software interface and commands, and publish them right out of the box, but it is not the purpose of Flash Builder. You can use Flash to make a library of graphical elements, configure those elements to be available as Actionscript classes, then export your library as an SWC to use them in a Flash Builder project code. Or you can choose in Flash to code your actionscript using external .as files, and use flash builder to write them. Flash Builder is intended to make life easier when you work on object oriented coded projects using as3, and let you code faster. Flash have it's limitations to assist you when it's time to code, Flash Builder is here to enhance your development workflow when needed.
