Flash button text dont fit!
when i create a flash button, the text i have provided for
inside of the button doesn't fit. Some letters are missing, but
when i change the width or height of the button; the button is just
white around the area i made bigger. therefore not really doing
anything at all
"powned"?
pwned
Unlike the other people who have posted definitions that are
ridiculous, do not have substantial backing, or are simply
mis-informed, I
will give the complete definition of what "pwned" means.
1. The origins of "pwned" are debated but there are two
possible
sources:
a. A prominent quake player mis spelled "owned" and the new
word
"pwned" was adopted by people who thought it was "1337".
b. A warcraft map designer misspelled "owned" and thus
people started
using "pwned" instead.
The definitions are as follows:
In video games:
1. Completely annihilated or dominated.
2. Perfectly owned, meaning the other player did not do any
damage.
I pwned your head with my awp.
OR
I just pwned your *** noob!

It's a good question. Adobe is offbase with this promotion,
but they are
desparate to convince people that the migration is easy. It's
not.
Especially not if you don't have good facility with HTML and
CSS. Garrick
Chow should be ashamed of himself.
I have seen that invalid name error alert mentioned by others

Flash button with dynamic text
I'm trying to create a flash button so that it can toggle
between "Sound On" and "Sound Off" but I feel like I'm doing
something wrong and it errors out on me.
I have a button on stage as, and in my up/over/down/hit in
different colors I have a dynamic text field identified as
sound_txt.
Here's the script I have so far for my frame:
stop();
mutebtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,muteDo);
function muteDo(event:MouseEvent) {
if (mutebtn.sound_txt.text == "Sound Off") {
mutebtn.sound_txt.text = "Sound On";
} else {
mutebtn.sound_txt.text = "Sound Off";
and this is the error message I am getting:
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no
properties.
at buttontst_fla::MainTimeline/muteDo()
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no
properties.
at buttontst_fla::MainTimeline/muteDo()
Can someboy please advise as to how I can get this to
work?I tried bringing the textfield out of the button but while it
worked when I pressed the button portion that is not under the
text, it was the part of the text that got in the way from doing
anything. I wonder where I can find an existing example that works
the way I want it too so I can at least follow that example. I
think I tried making the dynamic text a movie clip but was still
getting similar errors.
Edit: I at least got it to work by converting the button into
a movie clip although I had also wanted it so that I could also
change the foreground color of the dynamic text upon rollover,
etc. -

You can't, templates are not editable.
You will need Flash and make new buttons from scratch.

Because -
1. Those who don't have the Flash plugin installed will not
see the link.
2. Those who require screen assistive devices will not see
the link.
3. Search engine spiders will not see the link (so your site
will not be
indexed).
4. If you move or rename a file to which this button is
linked, the link in
the button will not be automatically updated to reflect the
change you just
made.
5. They look creepy.
6. I can't remember this one.
7. It's a maintenance problem for you (I just added this so
the list would
look longer).
Do those work?

Flash buttons in dreamweaver 8
Hi,
i am having a problem with inserting flash button in
dreamweaver 8, when i insert the buttons it appears on the page as
a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The
user is a standard windows users and has not administrator
privilidges. but if an administrator loggs into the pc and does the
exact same process then the flash button work.
has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to
resolve
cheers
davidYou'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's. Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking. If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons. -
Flash buttons won't work in Dreamweaver
Hello,
I recently watched/read tutorials about how to add Flash buttons into Dreamweaver. I followed the instructions perfectly: insert>media>flash button, and played around with that options. After I clicked ok/apply, though, the only thing that popped uo was a little grey box with the "f" Flash logo inside. It could be resized, but thats it. When I tried previewing it in a browser, all I saw was a little box in the color i had set as the BG color. In the properties window, it says "undefined" next to file. I am using CS3on a macbook, and am a beginner with Dreamweaver. Anybody know why this is happening and how i can fix it?
-New userThat's correct. There's no difference. But Flash buttons should be avoided however you make them.
Use text-based CSS formatted buttons instead.
Easier to maintain and update and search engines love them.
Google CSS Buttons and you'll find plenty of tutorials. -
Error message when inserting built in flash buttons
Anyone help point me to a solution?
Previously worked fine - but now a problem. When wanting to
either add or edit existing flash buttons, all I get is "Error
unknown" - no ref ID to help me.
In the html editor window - I can no longer see the flash
buttons. They have been replaced with the greyed flash icons. The
flash functionality has just disappeared for some reason?
I run mac os x - and have the current MX 2004 upgraded
version 7.01
I've reloaded MX 2004 - but no good.
Any ideas anyone please?
BTW - I'm not an expert by any means - but just baffled and
frustrated!Alan
Thanks for the pointer I will scan all of the code in the
morning for non-standard characters.
I do not see any with firs scan but I did change the path to
all of the files whan I moved the data to a new disc.
I went through DW and reset the paths in the site menus and
had it recreate the file map and the cache.
I did not get any errors for that process but that does not
involve the Java interpeter;-)
I will post the results later EITHER positive or negative.

How to SHOW/HIDE a dreamweaver layer from a flash button?
I have almost 2 weeks tying to find a solution for this. Please help...
-How can you SHOW/HIDE an thml-dreamweaver layer from a flash movie button.
My html layer name is LAYER1, and my FlashMC botton name is FLBOT1
Now, what is the actionscript that im suppouse to place in the flash button?
Please respond, ThanksAdobe removed Flash Text and Flash Buttons from CS4 for accessibility reasons. Flash buttons aren't web friendly. And if you use this approach, you'll need to work in Flash because DW doesn't write Action Script for you.
That said, you could do something similar without Flash.

CS3 Web Standard SE. Can't edit Flash buttons
I have an issue where I am unable to edit Flash buttons or

I am using CS4 Web Standard SE. A colleague of mine is using
the same software and also unable to edit these.
Until now I thought it was maybe a trial issue but have today

It's not a Trial issue. It's a conscious design decision by
Adobe announced
in Aug 07.
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402489
Flash buttons and Flash text have always been ill conceived
features for
webpages.
Adobe recognised this by dropping them from DW CS4.
If you still want to keep them and edit them, use DW CS3.
However, consider using CSS styled buttons instead.

When in design view and choose media--flash button or flash
text, i fill out the dialog box and save file but all I see when I
hit apply and OK is a gray box with handles and a f in it. Then in
browser check it does not show at all? My computer does have flash
reader as I can see other site's flach elements properly. I
followed the DW help and an online movie explanation.
I understand that Dreamweaver can generate it's own flash
elements such as flash text and buttons.
What am I missing?

code that you have written so we can get an idea of the problem.

Say Goodbye to FLASH Buttons?!
Previous posts I've seen on the subject of Flash Button
extensions indicate that these options have been removed in the CS4
version!
One of the MODS wrote:
David Powers(Moderator)December 1, 2008
James, Flash text and Flash buttons were removed for several
reasons. First of all, they were quite primitive in the effects
they created. More importantly, many inexperienced designers used
them without understanding the implications of embedding text and
navigational elements in Flash. Any Flash elements need the user to
have the Flash player embedded in their browser. Although Flash
Player is very widespread, its use is not 100 percent universal. As
a result, such people see no content or navigation if everything is
embedded in Flash elements. If you understand how to use Flash, you
should create such elements in Flash CS4 Professional or Flex.
If this is true then I would like to be the one to decide
whether I should use this option for the Web I'm creating!
I'd really hate to manually have to add these codes into
everypage, and although I've used Dreamweaver since it's first
version, doing this may perhaps get me to re-evaluate whether or
not to switch to MS Expression which will me a hassle but all the
same I will do!
Anyhow, I hope this get's fixed, cause I think all of the
extension options are an important part of the software! Alot of us
have been using the software since it was first released, have
bought numourus extentions for Dreamweaver and I think it sucks
that these options are not included since they have been a major
part of the software from the very beginning!
What I add into the Website is my business and I would think
it would be in Adobes best interest to support the features their
customers use!
Comments anyone? (Please me kind :)CrazyCopyCat wrote:

This is the point, not that many people use this feature and
keeping it around takes time and effort to make sure it still works
in the new version of Dreamweaver, time and effort that would be
better spent on testing and updating features that are used, as
well as any new features being added.
Remember that noone is pulling the old version of Dreamweaver
off of your system, so you should still be able use the older
version to access the old feature.
