Flash buttons and music

Hello Flashers-
I bought a flash button template to play an audio file on a
website I'm working on. Now that I have bought the button, how do I
get it to play the audio file I want?
Here is the button set I bought:

the audio file is an mp3 file. i am trying to put a flash
'play' button on our html site for a 30 second preview for a song.
if i can just embed the audio in a swf, then that would be awesome,
but i'm not sure how to do that. i'm also not familiar with loading
it externally, so either way i'm ill-equipped to make this work. i
assume if it is an external file then it needs to be loaded.
i appreciate any info you can share.

Flash buttons and slideshow don't show [was: Please help]

ive made my site using dw cs3 and all works perfectly on my hdd when i preveiw in i.e or firefox ,however when i upload the site to my server (justhost)
the flash buttons and slideshow do not apear ! dont know what i can do to reslove this so any ideas would be great and thanks again for reading

the file was there but the script folder it was located in was using a capital letter to start ...doh

Can I create a Flash button and use it to navigate to the next slide of a PowerPoint Presentation?

Hello all,
I've been having a bit of a hard time understanding how to get a button which I have created in Flash to navigate to the next slide of the PowerPoint presentation which it has been added into. I'm fairly new to Flash, so I believe that this is slightly out of my natural skill range, so hopefully someone will be able to help.
I understand that I somehow need to make use of fscommand in ActionScript, but I'm not sure how I can get Flash and PowerPoint to communicate between themselves. If anyone could write a walkthrough on how to do this, I would be bery grateful.
I'm using Flash MX 2004 7.0 and Powerpoint 2003.

Hi. Why not to make the whole presentation in FLASH? What you have to do is to import all the slides inside FLASH. Then place one by one in the stills and then create the code to make the stills advance and show the slides by means of the button. The code for the button goes as follows:
on (release) {
nextFrame();
to introduce this code make sure you press the button and no the frame.
Then in order to make the presentation open and cover the screen, no matter how big it is, you need to enter the following code in the first frame:
stop();
fscommand ("showmenu",false);
fscommand ("fullscreen", true);
You will need also a button to quit the aplication. This is the code:
on (release) {
stop();
fscommand ("quit");
Now write all of this in your application and let me know your experience. MamenFLASH$

Gray frame around flash buttons and more...

Hi,
1.I've used flash buttons in my home page,the problem is
that when u view the page with explorer u see a gray frame around
the buttons...
It is so ugly...some one knows how to fix it without using
the code?
2. Another problem, the behevior "show pop up menu" is not
valid,
i've used it before on that page....
i tried everything... i saved it ,linked it...
i dont know what is the problem...

I'm experiencing the same problems with my flash buttons. As
you hover over them initially, a gray border surrounds them and an
alt tag pops up that says "click here to activate this control."
This confuses some of the visitors, becuase they perceive this as
if the buttons do not work. I suspect it may be a browser specific
problem...are there any quick fixes for this? Thanks for the help.

Flash buttons and History.back

I am using a flash button created in DW studio 8.
But want to use the javascript:history.back() for the link.
I put in the link textfield javascript:history.back()
But that don't work how can i fix that please?

I wouldn't recommend the use of Flash buttons period.
They cannot be spidered.
They do not appear when the visitor doesn't have Flash
plugin.
They are not usable by screen assistive devices.
They have link and path problems after they have been
inserted on your page.
Your best bet is to forget they exist and use an ordinary
text or graphic
link.

Flash Button and IE7 issues

When I first built www.tutsheaven.com, I used Dreamweaver and
Flash buttons. Everything has worked fine until IE7 came out. Now,
you need to double click on the buttons to navigate to the next
page. Is there a fix for this problem, or do I need to change all
of the buttons on this and some other sites?

Using a Flash button and rollover captions simultaneously

Hi,
I have a button that I created in Flash. When hovered over, the button turns a different color. I'd like to use this button simultaneously with the rollover caption feature in Captivate, but it looks like I can only get one or the other to work, depending which is stacked on top.
Anyone have any workaround ideas, besides creating each button individually in Flash and adding the text in the hover state?
I'm using CP6.

Hi there
Why use Flash just to create a button rollover? Captivate offers Image buttons where you specify up to three images used for rollovers. And with the Captivate button you could enable the Hint caption to provide the rollover you are seeking.

Flash Buttons and UI Components need double click to work. Any Solution?

Hi,
I have just finished making an application for Kiosk in Flash. However while testing I noticed that the buttons I used and UI components like textfield, textarea, radiobuttons, etc need to be touched twice to make them function. Can anyone tell why this happens and how to solve this issue? Its very frustrating for a user to keep clicking on the component to make it active first and then make it work.
Note: Is it like Flash UI components need time to get active on screen and then they function?

What I want to say is I have a Flash exe file which contains feedback form for customers. This exe is displayed on Kiosk where user can interact with it using touch screen. The problem here is - when user touches (clicks) on the input field on screen or selects a radio button, it takes him several attempts to do so. In other words, user keeps on touching and tapping to activate the input field first and then somehow it gets activated and after multiple touches it allows them to enter the data/ radio button is selected and other buttons functions.
This obviously adds to users frustration.
This application is not loaded in IE so there is no browseer involved here.
You mentioned a script trigger a mouse click. What is that? (I have addEventListener on my buttons already) Kindly explain a bit. Thanks a lot.

Flash Buttons and a nested movie clip

I have made my movie clip and now I want to nest it into a
button. I am not sure what code I need to use for this and how to
nest it. I want, when a person rolls over the button for the movie
clip to run. When they roll off of the button the movie clip stops.
When they click on the button it takes them to a link. If anyone
can please help me with this, I would SO greatly apprecaite it.

I just assumed that was the only way I could do it, (nest
it.) So, my MC is called jiggle.
So everywhere you have the my_mc. Should I replace it with
jiggle.onRollOver etc....?
ALso you say to attach the code to the action layer in the
frame the MC appears, not in the MC itself.
So, in the timeline that I have my MC , I have an actions
layer. Do I not want an actions layer there? Should I just save the
timeline with my MC and then cut and paste it into another timeline
that has the actions layer?
I actually have 5 of these MC.that all need to do the same
thing, they are each for a different button.

Flash buttons and combo box's. Help

Ok! Picture the scene. I have a combo box on the left hand
side of the stage that holds difrent options of color's. And on the
right side of the stage I have ten buttons showing the color's! So
what I want to happen is! A person come's to this page and I want
them to be able to eather select the option with the combo box drop
down or be able to click on one of the color button's on the right
hand side of the stage and it select that color in the combo box. I
need this to happen because I will have lot's of option's
(size,stlye,color,wood color ect..) for the person to look at and
the combo box part will be way down at the bottom of the page.
If any one can help that would be great! Or if you know of
tutriols out there you can point me in that direction! Thank you

In which trigger you try to do this? Have you tried with when_new_block_instance?

Flash buttons and xml

Hi...I am looking to an xml file to generate a simple text
link in my movie
that will load flv's. I don't want to load the links into a
component. I
just need simple link text buttons that change color on
rollover and act
like normal link buttons. Right now it loads into a list box
and I don't
like the default rollover stuff that can't be changed with
setstlye. Most
notable the box that appears and highlights around the
rollover choice. Can
anyone direct me in the right area toward a tut or something?

if you already have a fla that loads an xml file and assigns
links, you don't need to start over. just find the code that parses
the xml file. use some trace() functions to see what's being loaded
and assign mouse handlers to your buttons instead of to your list
component.

Flash button to turn off sound

Can anyone help please! I want to add sound to a webpage but
offer the user a chance to turn it off. I thought I could create a
Flash button and asign a behaviour to turn the sound on and off but
can't make it work..Any advice very welcome - thanks ....

Sure this can be done and is known as a 'toggle' button. What
you need to do is make a MC with two 'states', 'off' and 'on' with
labels just like that. then you will control the MC button from the
on handlers, and use a boolean variable to determine which 'state'
the button is in, and then execute the opposite state.
A Sound Object is a sound class instance that you can use to
control the playback of a sound from that is attached from the
Library or load a streaming sound from your sever (in this code I
chose the latter as an example), rather than placing the sound on
the timeline, saving file space and download time (I'm assuming
this may be BG music). Using a Sound object also gives you more
control over the sound.
So with you MC set up, a sound in the same directory as the
fla/swf files, then add this kind of code to the main timeline
where the button (MC) resides, I'll call the button instance
'mute_btn':

Flash buttons won't work in Dreamweaver

Hello,
I recently watched/read tutorials about how to add Flash buttons into Dreamweaver. I followed the instructions perfectly: insert>media>flash button, and played around with that options. After I clicked ok/apply, though, the only thing that popped uo was a little grey box with the "f" Flash logo inside. It could be resized, but thats it. When I tried previewing it in a browser, all I saw was a little box in the color i had set as the BG color. In the properties window, it says "undefined" next to file. I am using CS3on a macbook, and am a beginner with Dreamweaver. Anybody know why this is happening and how i can fix it?

That's correct. There's no difference. But Flash buttons should be avoided however you make them.
Use text-based CSS formatted buttons instead.
Easier to maintain and update and search engines love them.
Google CSS Buttons and you'll find plenty of tutorials.
