Flash buttons disapear in IE unless refreshed

I have a small flash movie that plays various audio clips
depending on what page the user is on. When it is opened in IE the
play and stop buttons are not there. However, a refresh will bring
them up. No problems in other browsers and have not had this happen
until recently. Any ideas? Thanks
-Derek

Do you use wmode transparent?
It could also be timeing related (things downlaod differently
at slightly
different times/rates depending on the browser etc)

  • Help with flash buttons actionscript 2.0

Help please, I am not sure what I am doing wrong here. Each button has this script
    on (release) {
    getURL("http://www.mysite.com/index.html");
Once they work I want to import them to dreamweaver.

Do you happen to have any kind of rollover code tied to anything that is containing the buttons?  I don't see the sense in having Flash buttons unless you have some form of animation associated with them, possibly triggered by rollover interactions.  If so, the rollover may be blocking access to the on(release) interaction.

  • Replacing Flash Buttons/ Preview Issues

I have old Flash Navigation Buttons on my website from years ago. I have been trying to replace them. What would be some good and simple ways to do this? It appears that the programs (DW5, DW6, and DWCC) won't let me do this. For example, I deleted the flash button that says "About" and then typed in new word "About" instead and linked it in a simply way to the "About" page.
However, when I preview this in browsers, my flash button/s are still appearing in the preview window browser, even though already deleted many times in my Design View. The preview page has also showed all sorts of disorganization and chaos for these deletions of old navigation buttons which are not consistent with what is displaying on my working Design copy window. Any suggestions? (Mac Os X 10.8.4)

Thank you all for your suggestions! I have emptied my cache, cookies, and refreshed my browser window. It looks like one button "Resources" in the left navigation panel managed to disappear from all pages on the website-- yet I only made changes to a select few pages. However, many of the changes I made are not showing up yet on the test page.
I am not that familiar with code view so I use Design view mostly. Yet, I did split the view and see the selected area in the code responsible for a flash button. I tried to delete that in code view, as well.
Here is my test page. In design view, I left most of the old navigation buttons intact, except for the bottom three.
I tried to eliminate the bottom three flash buttons and replaced with linked words "About", "Resources", and "Home" (see below). Yet, on the web page, only the "Resources" button has disappeared, and the words I typed in to replace are not displaying yet.

  • Flash button in a frameset

    Hi, I'm a novice to Dreamweaver/webdeveloping.
I have a simple site with a 3 frame frameset. I have flash
buttons in the leftframe openining the links in the mainframe. Well
But when I test it in a browser (Safari) The button opens the link
in a new window, not the mainframe. If I use hyperlinks they work,
they open the link in the mainframe. Any ideas why this is.
Another quick question, Has anyone had problems running under
rosetta or at all. When I'm in the "Insert Flash Button" screen
when clicking on the target drop down menu, the program gets stuck
and won't let me leave the "Insert Flash Button" screen. this has
    happened twice only.

Best practice methods suggest a) that you only use frames
    when you have a
need to use them, and b) that you not use Flash for
    navigation unless you
cannot accomplish your purpose with other methods, and unless
    you also
    provide plain-HTML redundant navigation.
Frames extract a penalty on you as the developer, and on your
    site visitor,
that neither of you may be interested in paying. That being
    the case, it is
incumbent on you as the developer to make a considered
    decision to use them,
not just because they seemed easier. To find out about the
    many problems
that come with deciding to use frames, go here -
    http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php
    http://www.tjkdesign.com/articles/frames/
Using Flash for navigation without redundant navigation
    methods eliminates
the use of your pages for the following classes of visitors -
    1. Those who do not have the Flash plugin installed (and
    there are some)
    2. Those who use a screen assistive device for surfing
    3. Search engine spiders - meaning that your site will not be
    ranked
In addition, you create a maintenance problem for yourself if
    your linked
file ever gets renamed or moved. Again "it seemed simpler" is
    not a good
    reason to use Flash navigation.
All of these considerations dramatically affect your
    questions below. I
will not address them until we hear further from you.

  • Flash Button Links

I hope someone can help me with this weird problem. I've been
using Flash for button links for a while but for some reason
lately, I've been having this strange problem. When you type in the
url for the site, the Flash buttons will work as far as the roll
overs and such, but the links do not work. Yet, if you click on an
html link, it will take you to that page and from then on, the
Flash buttons will work just fine. I can't understand why this
would be happening. Basically, the Flash links work fine unless you
type in the url. What's happening? Here is the link to what I'm
talking about. Try typing in the url first. You will see that the
Flash buttons don't take you to the linked webpage. Then try
clicking on an html link, and then a Flash link from there. Thanks
    for the help!
    http://www.surecarehomehealth.com

Okay, I've discovered that this only seems to happen if you
    type surecarehomehealth.com without the "
http://www.". But why wouldn't it work with
    just typing "surecarehomehealth.com"?

  • Flash Button insert error

    Hi
I currently using dreamweaver 8 on a new macbook. When I want
to insert a flash button to page I get the following message :
IDS_ERR_UNABLETOCREATEVM. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix
    this? I've exhausted all avenues!

If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
    internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
    2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
    not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    You will have
    to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
    these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from the next
    version of
    Dreamweaver.
Also, since you replied to a very old post, many of us have
    no idea what
your symptoms are. Care to repeat them?
But the best solution is to not use Flash in this way.

  • Previewing Flash Button in Dreamweaver

When I insert the Flash Button/Movie into the Dreamweaver doc
and preview in browser, I only see a placeholder.
I created a simple Flash "movie" with some dynamic text

It previews fine in flash, and when I play the animation in

  • Flash Button within Dreamwever

I am trying to set up a number of flash buttons which can be
    produced within dreamweaver, from Insert>Interactive

page and dose not move to the required Anchor further down the

Flash buttons are not a good idea - those who don't have
    Flash installed, or
those who need to use screen assistive devices, or those
    searchengine
spiders that you want to see your links, will not be able to.

  • Firefox won`t open unless refreshed

Just this morning, at times Firefox 28 won`t open unless refreshed is pushed. Also, after refresh it still won`t open sometimes. Any ideas?

What do you mean with refreshed?
Do you need to click the Reload button on the location bar or do you need to start Firefox another time because Firefox closes without opening properly?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Phone keeps ringing on the caller's end - Is This a Call Waiting and Flash Button Problem?

I had FIos phone service installed 2 weeks ago.  I am having a sporadic but regularly occurring issue with incoming calls that I think might be related to the Call Waiting and flash button so I am looking for some input.  Before describing the issue here are a couple of things to know:
    - I have my Verizon voice mail service turned off on my account.
    - I have the call waiting function set to off.
    - On my phone handset the Talk and Flash operation is the same button.
Now here is my issue.  Often but not 100% of the time people are telling me that the phone just rings and rings on their end.  After receiving many complaints since my Fios install that the phone rings and my phone answering machine does not pick up the call I have been calling my home phone number with my cell phone and I have determined the following:
    1.  My home answering machine will pick up the call, however on my cell phone which is the calling end the  phone is still just ringing.
    2.  Sometimes I will press the talk button but there will be dead air but on my cell phone which is the calling end it will still be ringing..  But if I press the Talk/Flash button a couple of times the call completes.
Since my Talk and Flash button are the same I started to wonder if that is a factor so I repeated scenarios above and found that after pressing the Talk button a couple of times then the call is answered and the phone stops ringing on the caller's end.
I know that with Call Waiting the caller's end will just keep ringing unless the called end switches over with the Flash button.  So my question is even though I have the Call Waiting function turned off could the combination Talk/Flash button be the reason why the call just rings on the caller's end even though I have Call Waiting turned off?  And f this is the cause then why is it happening and does it mean that I have to buy a new phone that has separate Talk and Flash buttons?
I hope the above description of my problem makes sense and can be answered.  Thank you

Without buying a new phone you can test this. Unplug the phone that has the combination button. If its a cordless phone base station with multiple handsets, make sure you unplug those as well. Then use a regular phone plugged in to do test calls (if you dont have one you could maybe borrow one for a couple minutes from a friend, family, or neighbor).

    Hi,
i am having a problem with inserting flash button in

a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The

has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to

    cheers
    david

You'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's.  Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking.  If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons.
