Flash causes ie7 to exit

Hi
We have recently updated all our pcs (400+) to ie7 and on
each and every pc , ie7 exits on certian flash enabled websites,
list of websites is here
logging into yahoo mail
yahoo.co.uk
home page link from hp.com
updating flash player at adobe.com
sometimes on each and every flash enabled website
we have tried a clean build of windows xp with ie7 and it
works but once we install latest version of flash player it exits
on all the above websites,
even unistalling flash player still causes ie7 to crash on
the above websites
we have tried the things mentioned below concerning coping
the flash.ocx file but so far nothing is working,
I would be more then happy to work with Adobe to help test
this issue as we have several different models of pc and hardware
to test on
regards

quite in the same way as you did - although what you suggested led
me there eventually.
Having read your message, I downloaded the Device Cleaner
software and then read the ReadMe file that came with it. I don't
have either NTI or nvidia drivers for my graphics card, but I have
an Intel Express Chipset.
So on reading the file, I just wondered if my Display Adapter
driver needing updating, so I went via My Computer; Mange; Device
Manager; expanded the Display Adapter and right clicked the
resulting driver. From this menu, I went to Properties and then the
Driver tab of this. I then selected Update Driver and let Windows
do its stuff, allowing it to search for an updated driver. Hey
presto, it found one somewhere on the system (it definitley did not
go to the Internet), and, having rebooted after the driver update
(as required by the system), I can now access the website that
caused the problems without IE7 closing straight away.
So it appears that the iesue is around a conflict between the
main dispaly adapter drivers and Flash and the way round this is to
make sure that the display adapter driver is 110% up-to-date (and
in your case, also that there is no trace left of the old driver).
Maybe this will help others....?

Thanks, bolehill. My friend was having the same problem and
pointed her to this thread. Says I was a miracle worker but told

  • Flash player causes IE7 to crash

I use Win XP Home with SP2 and IE7, on a 2 week old PC (so
    both were OEM loaded).
I have installed Flash Player in order to get a decent
    experience from websites.
On one site - and one site only - anything from 15 to 120
seconds after the home page has loaded, I get a message that "IE
has encountered a problem and needs to close". By sending an error
report to M/Soft and then getting the message box with a 'More
Information' option, every time this says that it is Flash Player
    that has caused the crash.
I am directed to the Macromedia/Adobe site to update Falsh -
but I already have the latest verison installed. My version in the
    Windows/System32/Macromedia/Flash directory is Flash9e.ocx.
Based on tips seen elsewhere, I have even added a copy of
this in the same directory and renamed it as Flash.ocx.
Further more, I have uninstalled (using the Adobe/Macromedia
special uninstaller) and then re-installed (every time downloading
a new copy of Flash from Adobe and/or Macromedia) at least 6 times
in the last 10 days, each installation being clean, with no
programmes running and no anti-virus or anti-spyware software
    running at all.
This is driving me absoutely potty, as no-one can offer any
help - not Adobe e-mail Technical Support, not MIcrosoft, not the
PC supplier, not the wesbite where the problem is, no-one.
Yet it is a real problem but no-one is prepared to take
    ownership of it.
Has anyone in the communities got any ideas as to how to
    solve this?
    Many thanks
    bolehill
PS: Neither Flash nor IE7 were upgrade installations - they
    were installed as new.

  • Adobe Flash 10 causes IE7 to stop responding

When I Enable the Flash(10.0) addon in the IE 7 sometimes IE7
    stops responding under Vista (Business).
Report says adobe flash is causing this.
When I disable the flash addon, IE7 works fine.

I've been having this same problem, so I finally reverted to
Flash 9 and now IE 8 (which is in its Release Candidate 1 stage, so
it's not really a beta anymore) works perfectly.
However I prefer to stay relatively up to date and I know
that I can't use Flash 9 forever. I do wish Adobe would do
something about this, since I've seen post in several forums about
this exact issue but no one has had any response from Adobe
    whatsoever...

  • Shockwave flash causes firefox 4 crash

shockwave flash causes firefox 4 hangs. it happens whether using the latest or the previous version of flash. removing flash solves the problem but removing flash is not a solution. this happens on a computer with Windows 7. However on another computer with XP this does not happen.

#Download a copy of Flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and save it to your desktop.
#Then download the [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Flash Uninstaller]
#Close Firefox via File | Exit
#Run the uninstaller to remove Flash from Firefox. It will also remove it from IE.
    #Reboot
#Run the Flash installer you downloaded to your desktop earlier (do not start Firefox). This will install it on Firefox only.
#Open IE and go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and choose Run when you see the prompt.
#Test the installation in both Firefox and IE by going to: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

  • What's With Flash and IE7 ?

I have noticed a number of posting of Flash and IE7 troubles,
but they are not close enough or succinctly worded enough to suit
me to glom onto their post with my problem, and I noticed that the
ones who have a problem similar to mine are not being answered. So,
I take it that there is definitely a problem with Flash and IE7,
but no one knows the answer and Microsoft has not risen to the
problem of dealing with a problem that affects hundreds of
thousands of users. I have posted the following on a Microsoft
forum, but have received no reponses there as of yet. Hopefully the
Flash gurus here will be able to rise to the occasion more quickly
    than their Microsoft IE counterparts.
If you look at the home page for
    http://www.townofstarprairie.com/
using FireFox or IE 6 (with security settings lowered), you'll
notice a scrolling flash text box at the top, and an exact
duplicate of that text box at the very bottom of the page.
If you use IE 7, the one on top does not show but the one on
the bottom of the page does. These two Flash boxes are identical in
    every way.
I have toyed with my IE 7 settings to the point where IE was
screaming at me that the world was going to come to an end due to
my low security settings, and still the one on top does not show.
What ever could be the problem with this?
Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Nickels55, you are correct....mostly.
One of my acquaintances busted into the weather.com code and
sent me the source. After much trial and error, I found that by
removing the STYLE block completely, I no longer had a problem. I
even tried removing the styles between the STYLE block, but that
didn't work. I had to remove the STYLE tags, too. I tried linking
out to a style page to no avail , btw.
For a while, you can see a bust of this problem at
    http://www.townofstarprairie.elitecyberdesign.com/index.cfm?optionid=5877
What's really weird is that this problem only affects the
Flash code ABOVE the Weather.com widget (you would think it would
affect below, but such is not the case), and only in IE 7.
    Very strange.

  • Flash causing hangs in safari 4

Hi, I've been having issues with safari 4 intermittently beachballing, and I've come to notice it's generally occurring as a flash ad/video is loading. The system log also reads...
    21/09/2009 20:24:11 com.apple.WebKit.PluginAgent[270] Debugger() was called!
...something which raises my suspicions that it is flash causing the problem. Is anyone else having similar problems?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Two things to check.
Ensure that you have the latest version of flash as the one that is installed as part of 10.6 is old.
The second is to force Safari into 32bit mode, ctrl click the Safari icon and tick the 32bit check box.
This solved the issues I was having with shockwave.
It appears that a number of the common plugins don't quite behave themselves in 64bit mode.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Gavin

  • Flash causes firefox to hang

Flash causes FF4 (on Windows7) to hang. I uninstalled the latest version of flash and installed the 10.1 r53 as indicated in one article and it still hangs. I finally unistalled flash and FF4 works fine but no flash etc...

OK, setting protectedmode=0 has solved the issue!

    Hi,
I have an iphone 6 64gb with ios 8.1. I encounter a weird blue and sometimes red flash on screen when exiting app (specific to galaxy empire only). It looks like the blue/red screen of death but just a very quick flashing. so far no other problems occured but it sokehow makes me uncomfortable especially the phone is only less than 3 weeks old. Is it a hardware problem?

  • Flash Player, IE7/8, XP-SP3, blinking/redraw?

I've got a bizarre problem. I have a computer on which so
long as javascript is enabled and the Adobe Flash Player 10 plug-in
is running, any mouse over on an HTML page causes the entire page
    to redraw.
It only happens in IE7/8, not FireFox or Safari.
I reloaded the video driver and tried a different mouse and
    it didn't fix it.
I scanned for virus and spyware and it didn't fix it.
What would cause any mouseover event to redraw all the Flash
on a page, and mind you these are the very same pages I can view
anywhere on your average computer and have no problems. This is not
    a development issue.
If you disable javascript it stops.
If you disable Flash it stops.
If you disable both it stops.
    Thanks...

    Hi Sigmason-
    Well, this issue is different.....
I remember reading something awhile back over at the
techarena.in forum about optical mice/display refresh conflicts,
and also about Logitech optical and cordless mice/display refresh
    issues:
    http://www.forums.techarena.in
    (if ya want to look).
Seems the screen refrsh rate would trigger the mouse click,
    or something like that.
There's also some mouse click-lock progs that can act up. You
don't specify your mice (USB, PS2,Optical,etc.) so who knows? Have
you tried a standard PS2 mouse? What mouse driver? It is odd that
it only acts up on IE. I cant think of a setting that would cause
this issue, unless you have IE7Pro add-on, which has more mouse
features. If ya want, you could try restoring IE's Advanced
    Settings, or even resetting IE7.
    Do you feel lucky?

  • Adobe Flash CS5 Installation: Error, Exit Code: 7

I've been looking around the forums, and trying several things, but nothing seems to be working. I uninstalled Flash CS4, and used the Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool.

This is a very interesting bug.
System version: Windows XP with SP3
    Adobe Reader Version: 9
    IE version: IE 7
    Files needed for testing:
a pdf file (note.pdf) with Sticky Note displayed.
a html file (note.html) which has a url link to note.pdf
    Action which causes the crash:
    1.       Open note.html in a new IE window
    2.       Click the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
    3.       Click AGAIN the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
Then you could see the error window popup, the ie7 browser crashed. This has been tested in 3 PCs.
Check the Error Event, it said:

  • Why does Flash10e.ocx cause IE7 to crash?

An associate is having a problem when a website attempts to run Flash10e.ocx in Shockwave Flash Object.  Internet Explorer 7 is the browser being used on a computer running Windows XP Professional SP2.  I've updated to Flash Player 10.0.45.2 but the problem persisits.  I've disabled the add-on but would like to find a solution.  Can you help?

My problem is similar.  It began right after I allowed an Adobe update to run.  (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 is recorded in my Registry.) Now every single website I try to open triggers a window (see below) and repeats many times.
It makes no difference whether I "Allow" or not.  I think it runs this window for every flash object on that website.  It is occurring while I enter this post!
It makes using the Internet MOST challenging.  Surely this is causing major problems for everyone.
I have IE8 on Windows Vista.
Here's the text from the message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.

  • Flash and IE7 & Firefox ~ Display PROBLEM!!!

    Hi Everybody,
    Hope some one can help:
Recently, in IE7 and Firefox, I noticed my Flash SWF files
which had black Bkgrnds [ya know, on the stage] didn't show as
"black" but as a white or "no" color.
Yesterday [11/28/07], Firefox did an update to version
2.0.0.10 and the problem was resolved, temporarily. IE7 [ver.
7.0.5730.11 w/no update versions to download].
    Here is the URL:
    http://www.bowzerbird.com/
This is my home page: the bkgrnd of the SWF should be a dark
    blue but is white[ish?]
    http://www.bowzerbird.com/index2.html
[The SWF on this page should have a black bkgrnd]
I just checked in Firefox, and it's not right either. Just a
few moments ago [yesterday], it was perfect and now, say 10 minutes
later, the bkgrnds are "weird." I think I'm in the Twilight Zone.
I created several SWF's for my site in Flash versions
5-MX2004. Sorry I'm still behind the times. Can't afford the
    upgrade right now.
    PLEASE HELP ME!! WHAH!!!
Does ANYONE know what is going on?
PS ... Just tried an experiment! From Dreamweaver, I opened the
HTML files in IE7 and Firefox, AND the pages display correctly!
From my hard drive displayed from Dreamweaver in the browsers, the
SWF files look perfect. So, why when they are viewed from the web
[cable connected], do they display a light background color instead
of the intended black background color???

    Hi Robert,
Thanks but still have a question: Why up until just say, two
weeks ago [that's when I checked my web site, approx.] did the
Flash SWF files display correctly: ie. with the black background
and now display with a "white" or no background?
Also, like I said in the previous post, why when I "preview
in browser" from Dreamweaver does the SWF file preview correctly
with the black bkgrnd BUT when viewed on the Net when I'm
    connected, does it display incorrectly??
Are the updated browsers [IE7 & Firefox] problematic?
Could it be something in the "internet options" that needs to be
    corrected?
Also, what did you mean by: "One of the best ways to put
Flash on a web page is SWFObject. You can download the free
    JavaScript library for SWFObject here:"
What is "SFWObject" and what does it do? Why did my Flash SWF
files display fine just two weeks ago and not today.
PLEASE HELP! I just don't get it and I thought I was soooo
computer savy!! Oh, BTW, when I created the SWF files originally,
in Flash I simply set the bkgrnd for the stage to be black:
    #000000!!
