Flash causing gaps in Dreamweaver tables

All this was designed in Adobe Creative Suite $
I have created a page with Photoshop with slices.  Took teh page into Dreamweaver and replaced the sliced images with my flash swf files which were made using the same images and dimensions form teh image taken out of the spot.
When I display the page with the images it is fine.  As soon as I display with the flash inserted I get a 20 pixel gap along the bottom?
I have uploaded the file with the images in it adn it can be viewed here at http://jsm-inc.com/selmas/selmas_newV3.html  AS you can see it is displaying perfectly.
When you look at this version http://jsm-inc.com/selmas/selmas_newV4.html you will see the gap along the bottom of the flash
I need some assistance if anyone has run across this.
JM

It displays fine in IE but shows a gap when viewed with Firefox.  Chances are there is some html element that is causing the added space to occur, but looking at your page code I can't readily tell what that might be.  What you might try doing is using a different type of embedding and see if that makes a difference.  There's so many different versions around these days, I can't readily tell what might have generated what you're using, but you might try taking what Flash publishes for code and place that in the file instead.

  • Embedding a flash slide show in a dreamweaver table

I want to embed (is that the right word?) a flash slide show
into a table in Dreamweaver CS3. I'm using Flash CS3. Can anybody
point me to a good template that would allow
    a. Different categories of photos
    b. Thumbnails
    c. Descriptions of photos (this is a product gallery)
    d. Sound would be cool.
    Thanks.

Have you considered posting in the Dreamweaver forum? This is a transitional forum for users of GoLive. You do not appear to be converting a GoLive slide show to Dreamweaver.

  • Tips for Changing Flash Website to HTML / Dreamweaver

I am going to be taking over the management of a website that was designed entirely in Flash. There really is no need for the entire website to be entirely in Flash - it is confusing to navigate and most of the content would be so much easier to update and maintain if it were saved in html. I want to keep two flash effects - one is the splash page and the other is gallery where a grid of photos flips up like cards and you can click the individual photos for a link to a specifications page.
So, my question.  Is there an easy way to transition the site from flash only into html / dreamweaver? I think I already know the answer to this - "NO" - I'm going to have to redesign the site in dreamweaver and just insert the two flash elements I want to keep, but if anybody has any tips or tricks that would be FANTASTIC!  Thanks.

The problem with FLASH sites is that they speak a different language - Action Script instead of HTML.  While some Flashy effects can be emulated with DHTML (JavaScript, JQuery etc...) it's not always possible to achieve the exact same feel without FLASH.  Everything depends on how Flash-centric the original site is and how much your client/boss is willing to toss out in favor of a more web accessible, search engine / user friendly / standards compliant website.
Incidentally, SPLASH pages are a complete waste of prime URL real estate.  You don't want a Flash or image only SPLASH intro page on your ALL IMPORTANT domain name default page.  If anything, you need to rebuild home page in HTML with plenty of keyword rich content for search engines and people to grab onto.
For more meaningful suggestions, please post a URL to the live site?  It will be interesting to see how it ranks on Google and other SEs.

  • Flash causing hangs in safari 4

Hi, I've been having issues with safari 4 intermittently beachballing, and I've come to notice it's generally occurring as a flash ad/video is loading. The system log also reads...
    21/09/2009 20:24:11 com.apple.WebKit.PluginAgent[270] Debugger() was called!
...something which raises my suspicions that it is flash causing the problem. Is anyone else having similar problems?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Two things to check.
Ensure that you have the latest version of flash as the one that is installed as part of 10.6 is old.
The second is to force Safari into 32bit mode, ctrl click the Safari icon and tick the 32bit check box.
This solved the issues I was having with shockwave.
It appears that a number of the common plugins don't quite behave themselves in 64bit mode.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Gavin

  • Problem Using Flash FLV Video Via Dreamweaver CS3

I have been unable to get my FLV video to play on my website.
I seem to have two problems:
    1) I want the FLV file to be hosted in a different domain to
the website itself (for bandwidth reasons) and it doesn't want to
    do that!
    2) I would prefer to use Flash skins rather than Dreamweaver
skins as I want to offer a full-screen option but I cannot get them
    to work!
If I host the FLV file on the website domain, the video plays
ok. If I change the file location in the Properties of the movie to
become the FLV located on the other domain (using full path
    http://<etc>flv) then nothing
displays on that part of the page. Firebug tells me it has loaded
the AC_RunActiveContent.js and FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf but it
makes no mention of the skin file or the flv file itself ... it is
as if it just simply has not bothered with it! I suspect I am
missing something obvious but cannot find it. All help would be
appreciated. By the way, I have loaded up a crossdomain.xml file to
the root of the domain that hosts the flv file but that didn't seem
    to make any difference!
The second challenge is that ideally I would like to use a
Flash skin so that I can have a full-screen option and so that I
can have the menu bar under the video itself. However, I can't even
get that option to work when I host the whole lot on the normal
webserver! I am suspecting that it might be something that might
suddenly start working when I fix problem 1. However, if anybody
has any links to a page that provides simple instructions about how
to do this task I would greatly appreciate it!
    Many thanks for your help!

    1) Why not post your video to YouTube or Google Video and
    then embed the
code they provide into your website. This way their servers
    carry the
bandwidth for you and the scripted embed code will work on
    your site.
    2) If Video sharing isn't an option, and you need more
    bandwidth, you can
get domain hosting for as little as $4.95 - 6.95/month at
    Bluehost,
    Lunarpages or Web Hosting Pad.

  • Video Contrast in Flash Video Poor in Dreamweaver Playback

I am using Flash Professional 8 and Dreamweaver 8 to maintain a website. I have just started using flash to show video highlights from high school football games which I record. Using iMovie I export the video as quicktime file and then import to flash to convert to a flash video file to post on the web site. The video coming out of iMovie has very good contrast and the quicktime movie has the same good contrast. When looking at the file in Flash the contrast changes dramatically. I becomes washed out. I am using Max OX 10.6 operating system. I am new to flash and need some help?

Thanks doghouseJim, tried AVI & MP$ still no improvement. Sometime is
happening in the conversion process from the iMovie file to flash
    format.

  • Flash player skins in Dreamweaver: progress/buffer indication

Hi, I posted this in the DreamWeaver section but they said to check with the experts here in the Flash forum.
I have some flash .FLV videos that I've posted to a clients website using the built-in Flash skins (Halo is what I'm using).  My client would like to be able to see a moving buffer of how much video has downloaded so the viewers will know when the video is about to clip.  Standard stuff but not sure if the built-in flash player for DW has that option.  Can anyone tell me if it does or not?  What would be the best way to get a buffer indicator (not pre-loader) into a flash player if not?
    I'm using CS4 everything for OSX 10.6.2
    Thanks.

Do you know where I can find a list of parameters for the Flash skins used in Dreamweaver?  Maybe it's just a matter of changing the color of the play bar to distinguish the progress.
I've attached a screen shot to show what I'm seeing.

Flash causes FF4 (on Windows7) to hang. I uninstalled the latest version of flash and installed the 10.1 r53 as indicated in one article and it still hangs. I finally unistalled flash and FF4 works fine but no flash etc...

#Then download the [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Flash Uninstaller]
#Close Firefox via File | Exit
#Run the uninstaller to remove Flash from Firefox. It will also remove it from IE.

  • Flash banner in a Dreamweaver Template

    Hi all,
I am using one of the provided Dreamweaver Templates (CSS).
All is fine, except that for some reason it does not like Flash
imports. I can alter the template as much as I like and it will
always successfully change across the site, BUT if I try to insert
a Flash movie/banner into the template - then it does not appear of
ANY of the site files. The only way I can see the flash banner, is
if I open the template.php file in a browser - then you can see
that it is in fact there and working - but for some reason the
other pages refuse to acknolwegde it. Images / Tables / Text - all
work fine - just not flash banners. I even tried saving the banner
as a JPG file in Flash, then sticking the JPG file in the template
where the banner should - and it worked perfectly, but as a .swf
    extension it fails.
    Am I missing something?
    Nathan

    > BUT if I try to insert a Flash movie/banner into the
    template - then it
    > does not appear of ANY of the site files.
Because of the active content .js fix, when you insert a .swf
    file into a
template, you must use a Site Root relative path for it.
    Open the .dwt template file.
Double-click on the .swf in design view- the "browse to file"
    dialog box
should come up showing the currently selected file.
look in the bottom of that dialog box for the pulldown to
    change from
document relative path to site root relative path. Change it
    to site root.
click okay and save the file, and let changes propagate.
does it show in the child files now?
[note- It may still not show during local preview because
    site root relative
paths in javascript will not make any sense during local
    preview- they
should work fine on the remote host if the site has it's own
    domain name
    though]

  • Gap appearing in table

Hi I am using Id cs6 on a pc.. win8.. I am creating a catalogue with a huge table. Data was entered and is now being rearranged via cut/paste and merging /deleting cells. The problem is that a gap has randomly appeared of almost a whole page length. It is not part of the table, the text flows past it, I can't select it with the text or selection tool and making the table frame smaller on that page just pushes the gap to the next page. I'm attaching a screenshot... any suggestions welcome! I can't have a huge gap in my catalogue

Hi, thank you so much for your answer. The next part of the table is as the rest. The far right column is about 4 rows high. Not enough to cause the gap as it's like that on all 100 or so pages. Here is a shot for you.
    TIA for any more suggestions!

  • Inserting HTML and support files into Dreamweaver table cell!

HELP! I'm using photoshop to generate it's "flash" web photo
gallery. That yields a folder of pages, swf files and more folders
of images. I want this slideshow from p'shop to reside in a cell in

I have created a site with a dark background in Dreamweaver

  • Embedding Flash in HTML using Dreamweaver - stopped working

Hi all, not really sure what's going on, but I've done this many times before and it's worked fine.
I've previously embedding Flash videos I've created in Premiere and/or converted using other software.  I simply drag and drop the Flash file where I want it and then adjust layout using code/design etc and that's it, job done.  It's always played back fine.
Now for some reason I've tried doing it again this morning and can't figure it out.  When I preview the file it doesn't even show the video, but instead displays all the icons for the controls at once in a grid where the video is meant to be.  I've tried in IE, Firefox and Chrome, updated drivers, windows, Adobe, Flash etc all to no avail.
I've even tried doing it in a blank HTML page in case some of the template I might have been using was interfering for some strange reason; still no luck.  What's even stranger is that a site I created last year is also now not displaying Flash (FLV) content locally, but is working fine on the server.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    (CS5 Dw:V11 build 4993, Win7 64bit SP1)
I've pasted the code from the blank HTML page.  It's probably something really simple that I've not noticed:

    </html>

Im' having a VERY similar problem with a few estra 'happy' moments. I have a blog (WP). On this simple and VERY basic blog (with almost NO plug ins) I have attempted to embed FLV videos with CS$ Dreamweaver code.
(This code is different in CS$ than it was in earlier versions as it now calls to the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf as the player and uses Flashvars to pass the value of the FLV. PReviously, it was four simple lines of code that pointed directly to the SWF)
Here was my process - I encoded the files with AE and Media Encoder to end up with Transparent FLV's. These, I then setup in Dreamweaver so I could copy the embed code. On my first attempt, it worked PERFECTLY. I was testing one particular flv, got the code and inserted it into the blog page with some special CSS to position it.
    The movie played perfectly.
    Then things got weird.
I was excited I had a solution, so I went to put another video on another page. No luck. The second page was playing the video from the first page. As if I had copied the same code, but I hadn't. I copied code that was 'pointing' to the new file, but for whatever reason, the new file would not play.
I did EVERYTHING. I deleted all the pages and strted fresh. I deleted the FLV's and reuploaded them. I created different folders and put each flv in it and created index.html files for each (assuming possibly there was a hardcoded element in the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf). I copied and pasted back and forth for nearly 6 hours.
Nothing. Each time I would copy and paste code into a blog page, it would simply pull the original video.
    THEN....things got worse.
I pulled one video off of the server, and now NONE work. I can't get ANY videos to play. Worse, I still have the 'express install' link showing.
    Ok, so here is what I am trying to figure out;
Does the NEW DW CS4 code somehow have control over the file that is called? Further, HOW can I get more than one FLV to play across a whole blog site.
Here is a link to one of the pages that HAS code but is calling NOTHING. And please know that I have left copies of the necessary files ALL over the server. So they are in the root, in the 'files' folder, in the talent folder and everywhere.
Is there a conflict flash hits when there are multiple FLV's being called? Is there a way to do this? Please help....
    Thank you
