Flash CC 2014 Library Icons Are Hard To See

Hello,
The Flash CC 2014 Library has icons that are all gray in color.  Older version showed colored icons (folders are yellow, MCs are blue, etc).
The all-gray icons in the Flash CC 2014 Library are extremely hard to organize visually.  When folders are gray, along with objects, it increases one's workload to find and organize objects.
Can Adobe please return to the old colored Library icons?  Having everything in shades of gray is not a good interface design.  Thank you.
(I tried searching this topic, but there's a problem with the Adobe Forum... each time I enter search terms, the Adobe Forum displays the results and then immediately logs me out of the Forum and shows me the login page... obviously some sort of Forum bug.)

Hi Nipun,
I'm writing to "bump" this forum thread again.  After 6 months of using CC2014, the grayscale interface is really, really bad.  I've had other people here in the office (some who have some minor vision problems) look at it, and they have had a very hard time deciphering things on the screen.  They all commented that there needs to be more contrast and some use of color.
When everything is grayscale, you've got to work harder to decipher things on the screen -- and, that's coming from a skilled developer!
There are obvious disability/usability issues with the grayscale interface, which I hope Adobe resolves.  If Adobe can provide two options in the Settings for "Light Gray" and "Dark Gray" interface, I would think they can provide a setting for "Colored" interface as well.
Is there anything you can do at Adobe to escalate this?  This has made one of my all-time favorite applications into one that I don't enjoy using anymore.  Thanks.

If it is still slow after removing Symantec, you may need a RAM upgrade. Yosemite can run very poorly on older machines with only 4 GB RAM.

If its under warranty, its something that the applestore will fix fairly quickly. If not, it all depends on if you are willing to spend that amount of money to get it fixed.

  • Installed iTunes 10.5.1, now my desktop icons are not showing up properly

The icons that are effected are the taskbar icons at the bottom of the desktop. I use thes to open my programs. When I open itunes the icons will then show properly, but when I close iTunes they again look translucent and are hard to see. This has to be a bug in the iTunes 10.5.1 update. All other previous versions worked fine.

LOL!!! I had checked iTunes before writing this and the music was not there. I check after writing and now it has shown up. It took iTunes about 12 hours to do it though.
Last week, the music I purchased showed up immediately.
I guess iTunes is just not working as effeciently as it did last week. Could still be a bug or maybe just swamped servers? However, the problem that is most annoying to me right now is that all the music I have downloaded since iTunes 10.5 has contained defective tracks that needed to be redownloaded. I do not recall that ever occuring before.

You had already done "Repair" and "Rebuild"?  These usually takes scores of minutes or hours.
Does the Library on your external drive work from the external drive?  Navigate to it in Finder and double-click the name.
If it does, delete the problem Library, empty the System Trash, reboot, Verify your system disk using Disk Utility (and might as well repair permissions while you're at it), reboot, test the external drive Library once more to confirm it works properly, then close it and copy the Library to your system drive.  When the copying is done, double-click the Library (now on the system drive) and see what you get.

if my external hard drive is not connected to either of my machines, and I download something onto my iMac and then something different onto my Macbook, where are my machines going to be storing the new downloaded media
when the drive is not connected, +iTunes media folder location+ will default back to <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music/iTunes/iTunes music (or media)
and when I next connect the external hard drive how will I easily get the newly downloaded media onto the external HD
you'd have to point +iTunes media folder location+ back to the external via preferences > advanced > iTunes media folder location, then file > library, organize library > consolidate files
and essentially, to have it easily readable on both machines?
in that case it might be best to copy the entire iTunes folder to the external. then, on each machine, launch iTunes while pressing option on your keyboard. when prompted, click on +choose library+ and navigate to the iTunes folder on the external.
note only one iTunes can access the iTunes library @ a time !
also, make sure the external is mounted on either machine before launching iTunes.

  • Where are Aperture Library icons stored?

After installation of Mountain Lion, all Aperture libraries have lost their icons. They are completely blank (clicking where they should be does nothing). Clicking a library name shows a gray area where the icon should be. Get Info shows the icon is blank. I found the Aperture library icon in the contents of the Aperture application so if that is where the icon is stored for libraries, it is not being used. I can paste iPhoto library icons in each of my Aperture libraries but it would be better if the libraries had their own icons back. A newly created library also does not have an icon.

The Aperture  Libraries use a generic icon created by the Finder. This icon depends on the kind of the library and is not stored in the Aperture library package. But if you set a custom icon, you will see a file called "Icon?", when you browse the Aperture Library package from the Terminal, for example:
Listing my Aperture Library "Leuchtfeuer" in the Terminal: This library has a custom icon.
    ls -aix ~/Pictures/_ApertureTestLibraries/Leuchttuerme.aplibrary
    769261 .
    5451826..
    769262 Aperture.aplib
    9311240 ApertureData.xml
    769265 Attachments
    769266 Database
    9330718 Icon?
    772295 Info.plist
    5445089 Library.data
    5445085 Library.iPhoto
    5445087 Library6.iPhoto
    772296 Masks
    772297 Masters   .............
Sometimes the icon will not show, if the custom icon file has the wrong permissions. Then the icon should show again, if you delete the "Icon" file, for example:
          rm ~/Pictures/_ApertureTestLibraries/Leuchttuerme.aplibrary/Icon^M
did reset the icon to the default icon.
To enter the path to the icon file, only type "Ico" and then the tab key for command completion. The filename contains special characters, as you can see by the ^M in the example above.
Since all your libraries have corrupted icons, I'd try to repair the permissions on your Aperture libraries or to repair the libraries, before starting to patch library packages however, see "Repairing and rebuilding your Library"

    Dear all,
I just downloaded the now IOS7 on my iPhone4S, the background picture has faded a bit, the folders that contains my icons are solid bright gray and the keyboard is pail/bright gray and I can hardly see it. Is there a way that I can change the colors, the shades, etc? I don't like the new layout, it's too bright and too pale, like the face of a Georgian monarchy. Thank you for your help and support.

I changed the background picture, which is a dark pink flower, now the folders have become solid pink! Not esthetically pleasing

Try doing a Spotlight search for the Contacts app.

  • Hi, I had to re install my itunes library from a hard drive to my new laptop. Now I cant sync my iphone because itunes thinks all songs are new and basically doubling all albums. Should i restore iphone or is there a better way?

hi, i had to re install my itunes library from a hard drive to my new laptop. Now itunes thinks i am trying to add new albums and saying there isnt enoug space. should i restore or is there a better way.

Have you tried exporting a 10 second section of the footage to see if the issue shows up once the seqeunce is actually exported from the timeline. I edit on CS5 with windows 7 pro at work quite often and have no issues so I assure you that isn't the issue. I also edit with AVCHD footage when at home and work quite freqeuntly as well so I'm positive that isn't the issue. It sounds like a GPU driver has been corrupted in the way it interacts with premiere pro. What type of GPU do you have? If it supports MPE's GPU acceleration have you tried turning it off and seeing if that makes any difference?
Anyways though try to export a 10 second test section of your timeline to see if when the clip is exported from premiere it will play normally in windows media player or vlc or w/e media player you want to use. If it exports fine then you can almost be positive it's a corrupted video card driver. If that's the case I'd re-install your GPU's driver and also check your gpu makers website to see if they have a updated driver avaiable.

  • Maverick has messed up my computer. Slow scrolling in I photo. Bookmark icons are blue all the time and not marked with the company symbols. I cannot find out how to solve this.

I switched to Mavericks two weeks ago and have had nothing but troubles. Scrolling in I photo is slow and very inaccurate. When I click and drag a photo the ones above it all flicker, making it hard to find where to put it. My bookmarks bar Icons are all blue. Before they used to show the symbol for the company they represented. Now I click on one, it changes to what I want, then a few minutes of hour later, it goes back to the blue ball, which I hate. My font size is different with every page and I have to click Zoom in all the time. I tried adjusting it in Preferences in Advance settings on the right, but this does not solve the problem permanetly. I have one web page, a hockey one, which tries to load, then I get either a black page or a white one. Driving me nuts. I need some help. Been to Apple at the store, talked to them on the phone for four hours last week. Rebuilt the I photo library with no luck. Would appreciate any help. Please Thanks. I even keep a fan behind my computer to keep it cool, that is how much I look after this baby. Some say it might be Safari? Not sure. I have little computer experience, so please it you are kind enough to reply, do not use tech talk or short forms as I will not understand any of it.

    Rick,
I have a few of your issues as well: 1) Safari popular icons are all bue making them very hard to distinguish from each other. 2) My font size is also different with each page / window.        What I have been able to find out is that in the Maverick OS - Apple removed one size of display resolution 2048 x 1152. Whether this is the cause of my 27" screen clarity & font size issues, I do not know - but it seems like a contributing factor.  Maybe help is on the way - maybe not. Cheers

  • No pictures show up in iPhoto Library on my hard drive.

When I try and find my pictures on my hard drive, there is only a iPhoto Library icon but no pictures show up. I upgraded my iLife to '08 and now I can't find the folder in which my pictures are stored. I can't drag and drop the pictures from iPhoto for everything! Say I wanted to upload the picture on MySpace, I click Browse and find the iPhoto Library icon but it's not a folder! Is there a different place they are stored? Or do I have to drag and drop everything to my iDisk in order to have a folder with my pictures in it? Any help would be great.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
iPhoto is not designed to network with Windows machines. Does Windows understand Alias files? If so the hack detailed above should solve the problem.
The library format is v6 was a hack too, it was never the intended use of the iPhoto Library Folder that it should be browsed by users or other software.
Now they are in a proprietary format?
No, it's a UNIX package file. Right-Click on the pkg file and choose 'Show Package Contents'... nothing hidden or proprietary there.
Can I export all the photos in one shot to create a mirror of the library so other machine with iLife can see the photos?
Why do that when you can use Sharing?
If you want the other machine to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running. On the other machine, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in her source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running on both machines for this to work.
You can, if you choose, export the lot into a folder, but this won't be updated when you add new pictures or make changes.
If not, how do I go back to iLife 06?
Have you got a v6 library untouched? If so, simply install v6 and use on the v6 library. If you don't have a v6 library, then you'll need to re-install v6 and then create a new library from scratch. v6 cannot read a v7 library.

  • Need help saving iPhoto library from damaged hard drive

Trying to help my wife, she has the following:
MacBook Pro running OS X Lion version 10.7.3
    iPhoto 11 version 9.2.2
Her hard drive failed last week and she had a ton of photos on it, of course not backed up.
We took her machine to the local Apple Store, they confirmed they couldn't recover the data and they installed a new hard drive in the MacBook.  We took the old hard drive to my local PC supplier who's very clever, he worked on the hard drive and was able to copy all my wife's documents to another storage device.....but, he couldn't copy the iPhoto library and is requesting some help.....he doesn't know much about Macs, nor how iPhoto works.
I've read a lot of the posts on this forum and am learning about how the iPhoto library works....and how it requires a Mac based back up hard drive in order to copy it.  Okay, here are my questions:
    1.  My PC troubleshooting guy can see the iPhoto library icon on the damaged hard drive, he says its a huge file.  It appears we would need to supply him with a Mac formated back up hard drive, then he could just move that iPhoto library icon (which contains all photos) to the new back up drive.  Is this correct?
    2.  Once we have this old iPhoto library on the new back up hard drive, we could bring it home of course, but then I need to get it into the new hard drive on my wife's MacBook Pro.  I'm assuming I can plug this back up drive into my wife's machine, then import the old library into her machine.  How do I do this properly?
    3.  If I bring the old library into the new MacBook Pro hard drive, will it erase the existing iPhoto library on her new hard MacBook Pro hard drive, or will it combine them somehow?  She has added of course some pics to the new iPhoto library already, but if we have to delete them it won't kill us.  The old stuff that got recovered from the damaged drive is more important.
    Thanks ahead.....now to the experts?

    Thanks Terence.....
    regarding this point:
    3. use the paid version ($20) of  iPhoto Library Manager to merge the Libraries. that way you won't lose anything.
I have another access to her new photos, whereby I could reload them onto her MacBook if we lose the new library.....so I'll save the $20 and just reload them.....two more questions:
    1.  So, if I drag the iPhoto library folder from the new back up hard drive to the Pictures Folder in Finder, will that overwrite the existing library folder on her MacBook?
    2.  After I drag this folder into finder, will iPhoto recognize everything?  I assume yes....just checking.
    thanks ahead!

  • "iPhoto Library" icon/folder deleted by mistake, how do i recover it?

Fist off i am not a iMac genius, so bear with me as you read .  I Just bought an Imac (21.5 monitor and 1TB with OS X Lion 2012 version).  After transferring all my photos in the "Picture" folder (click, drag and drop into the "finder" then into the "picture" folder (not iPhoto yet) I then selected all the photos (dozens of folders and over 8,000 photos) click and drag then into iPhoto and they all successfully transferred (which took several minutes).  I noticed when transferring most of the photos over it gave me the option to either transfer or discard duplicates, i chose to not import the duplicates.  Since i had ALL my photos in iPhoto i decided to delete the old file that i copied earlier and empty the trash.  In the deleting frenzy i accidentally deleted the "iPhoto Library" icon/folder )or whatever that picture is) and every time I open up iPhoto now it asked to either locate "iPhoto Album 1" (which can not be found) or start another album (which would be "iphoto Library 2" which opens up with none of my pictures.)  Sooooo, after freaking out i downloaded 2 file recovery software program which seems to have found most if not all the pics (still need to pay to get a key code to get them back), however since i delted the photos that transferred into the finder>picture folder and did not delete any photos form iPhoto itself is there a way to get back the "iPhoto Library" that housed all my pictures?  In theory all my pics are still in the hard drive but i do not know where to look for that little "iPhoto Library" icon/folder.  What is the best Apple/Mac recovery software to purchase to get them back?  Or are they all the same?  Or is there a file buried deep in the hard drive that are hiding all my photos that tech support can guide me to?  And if there is, how to i search for that?  Any help would be great!

however since i delted the photos that transferred into the finder>picture folder and did not delete any photos form iPhoto itself is there a way to get back the "iPhoto Library" that housed all my pictures?
    No.
Inside that package are thouands of files - your photos, thumbnails, face thumbnails, database, metadata, cache and other files. To reconstruct the Library you would need to get all of these in exactly all the correct locations. That's not going to happen.
Best you can hope for is to recover the actual photos and then start over from scratch.
Unless you have a back up of course...
    Do you?
