Flash CC 2014 Static text adding LOADS of KB to file.

Creating a banner ad for the first time in Flash CC 2014 and I noticed that the file size has increased dramatically (75KB+). Upon further inspection it seems to be that Flash CC 2014 is including the WHOLE font file for the 3 fonts used in my project (even though all text fields are static text).
HELP! Is there a setting I need to change?
I discovered if I go into each text line and break the text apart (twice so it's just the vector shape of each letter) the exported SWF is 37KB vs 114KB (when text is left alone). But that solution isn't really a viable option because it makes editing the file later difficult and a lot of reworking.

I did some comparison. 3 fonts in Flash CC and 3 fonts in flash cc 2014 and the difference was 80KB (flash cc 2014 bloating the file size).
Previously with flash and static text there was very minimal size added to a file when adding fonts. 2014 seems to be embedding the ENTIRE font or something.
Right now it's unusable.

  • Get AIR runtime in Flash CC 2014

    Hello!
    Please could someone tell me about why can no longer in Flash CC 2014 choose the option to "get the AIR runtime..." for Android?
    The checkbox appears disabled and it seems that now is only possible embed the runtime.
    Thanks.
    Tiago

    Hi kglad.
    The path was already appointed to the folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CC 2014\AIR13.0.
    I am creating a file based on AIR for Android, but when configuring to use a runtime, I would choose the option of getting the runtime.
    But this option is disabled, only allowing me to embed the runtime.
    As I understand it, from the AIR 3.7 only the option of embedding is allowed, but this makes the final app size increase too much (> 8 or 9 MB).
    I wonder if there is any way to be able to choose the option of get a runtime from a store as was possible until AIR 3.6.
    Thanks.
    (excuse me for my terrible english.)

  • Static Text in flash 8 disappears

    Here's a weird one for you. I have a site built in flash 8
    with some static
    text in there. It's in Verdana, no Kern set on it and is
    Anti-Aliased for
    animation, whilst this appears to work on every test machine
    and clients
    machines we've had reports from 2 users that the Static text
    doesn't appear
    at all. None of the text is sitting under masks or any other
    object, the
    dynamic text appears to be displaying just fine. They've
    installed the
    latest flash version and are running on IE6.
    I've searched through google groups and have found a couple
    of things that
    sound similar but it appears that they just changed the text
    to use the
    device fonts. I really don't want to have to do that if I can
    help it,
    especially as this in theory should be working. Anyone else
    had a problem
    like this, is there a bug in Flash for certain
    configurations?
    Thanks
    James

    Hey Tom,
    No, I understand what you're saying. Originally, I did embed
    the non-system font and used it on all of my static text. It worked
    great for me in both IE and Firefox, both local and live. However,
    my clients weren't getting any text at all and I have no idea why
    (they tried it on both IE and Firefox). I'm not sure what the
    differences in our browsers are as they are the same versions.
    Maybe they have special settings set up?
    As an experiment, I'm going through and changing my static
    text from the embedded font to a system font. I did one section of
    the site, made it live, and asked the client to test and see if
    they could see text. They said they could. So, for some reason
    their browsers aren't liking the original embedded font I used. As
    I said in an earlier post, I know my original font embed worked
    because I tested it on a computer that didn't have the font
    installed. So, I don't know where the problem lies for the client.
    The client has an important meeting in 2 weeks and needs to
    present what I've made so far. So, until I can figure out what's
    going on with the client's browsers, I'm opting to change the font
    over to a system font and do away with the embedded font for the
    time being.
    However, you said:
    quote:
    If the text field is static, you need do nothing more than
    choose a non-device font.
    Do you mean I don't need to embed a font for static
    text?

  • Added URL in Static Text To Open in New Browser Page

    Hi to all,
    We have added a static text with a url, to open in a new browser page. The url works as it opens in the current browser. But we would like to open in new browser page.
    we used a similar notation like the following in the static text:
    href=www.oracle.com
    target="_blank">Oracle</a>
    but this does not open in new browser.
    target="_blank" tag should open in new browser
    Does anyone have an idea what maybe happening.

    purposely left out <a tag from reference....as in my post....only the link was coming about.

    Introduce a "target=blank" into the HTML code!

  • Static text field line height problem

    When an FLA that was created in OSX is edited on a PC the
    line heights in static text fields are lost. This was a problem in
    earlier versions of flash however it was generally fixable by
    republishing from the platform on which the text was originally
    set. As of CS3 the problem may have gotten worse:
    1. I developed a flash project in OSX CS3. It included many
    static text fields with varying individual line heights.
    2. I sent it to a colleague who was adding some tracking
    tags. He was working on a PC.
    3. He did his bit and sent it back.
    4. In the authoring environment the text looked fine. But
    after republishing, all the static text fields lost their line
    height settings - that is all the lines within any given text field
    inherited the line height of the first line within that text field.
    5. Only text fields that were edited by my colleague were
    affected by this problem. Text fields that weren't edited are fine.
    6. It seems that the only way to get past this problem is to
    actually delete these text fields and create new ones. This would
    take about a week. Republishing doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

  • Copy+paste issues in Flash CC 2014

    Is anyone else having trouble copying and pasting code in Flash CC 2014? I typically work with smaller code blocks and then merge them into a master file, but that requires copy+paste. When I copy, it appears to copy (paste becomes highlighted) but I cannot paste in any way into the code. it's not working between documents, and not even working inside a single document.
    Am I missing something obvious? Any help would be appreciated.
    - Just confirmed, switching back to Flash Pro CS6 works just fine with copying and pasting, as long as the content on the clipboard is copied from Flash CS6 and not CC 2014. I cannot copy anything from Flash CC 2014 into another Flash document.

    It's in the code area, and I tried pasting it (didn't show anything) and then executing the code, and it didn't do anything.
    I then tried creating a text area on the page, and went to the Edit menu - and "Paste Special" was the only available option. So I tried that, and it says "Source: Unknown Source" and the only option I have is to Cancel.
    I then went into Flash CS6, and copied a line of code from that. I tried pasting it into the Flash CC 2014 actions console, and it did nothing. I then went back to my text area (still in Flash CC 2014) and it pasted the code in there fine.
    So, it looks like I still cannot copy from or paste into the actions panel Flash CC 2014, which is what I need. But, maybe this sparks another idea? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

  • Static text in Adobe forms

    Hello Experts,
    I have requirement to create a adobe form which have 90% of static text .I want to know to display those text should i go with standard text(SO10) ot should i directly display it in text-field on the form layout.Or there is any other way to display.
    Which is best? Kindly suggest.
    Thank you,
    Shweta

    Hi Shweta,
    I started working on adobe in late 2010. I prefer and would personally go for SO10 instead of adding  text in text-field. Adding texts under one TextName would give a clear picture for further enhancements instead of adding the texts one by one in text fields.
    We do have a Wiki on SCN about adding static texts to adobe forms using SO10.  Here it goes:
    [Using of Standard Text (SO10) in Adobe Form|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/UsingofStandardText(SO10)+inAdobe+Form]

  • Static text | variable | static text

    i'm thinking i need a simple actionscript to do this but i'm
    not exactly sure. i have a dynamic text field that is loading a
    variable named count. however i would like to place static text on
    either side of the value of the variable. since the variable is an
    integer that will only increase, it's horizontal width will also
    increase as well. i can't very well place two strings of static
    text on either side of a variable that will grow in width over
    time. does that make sense?
    essentially, i want to have a dynamic text box display a
    string of text, then the value of a variable (that will change in
    length), then another string of text, but i would like it to all be
    seamless, looking as if i just typed the whole sentence in a word
    processor. thanks for your time!

    let say you have a dynamic text field with instance name
    my_txt
    when you want to increase the value, you run my_txt.text++;
    when you want to decrease the value, you run my_txt.text--;
    now, convert the dynamic text field to a movieclip symbol,
    set the instance name my_mc
    now, to set the value of text, we should use
    my_mc.my_txt.text++;
    but we are not going to set the value in this way.
    now, go into my_mc movieclip, select the 1st frame, attach
    script:
    var actualValue:Number = Number(this.my_txt.text);
    var displayValue:String = "";
    function setValue(d) {
    actualValue += d;
    displayValue = "something"+actualValue+"something";
    my_txt.text = displayValue;
    setValue(0);
    go back to your maim timeline. and now,
    when you want to increase the value, use my_mc.setValue(1);
    when you want to increase the value, use my_mc.setValue(-1);

  • Getting Dynamic Text To Act Like Static Text

    Hi, need help.
    I currently have 7 text/symbols that each move to the right
    when a button beneath expands in a mouseover.event.
    Working fine.
    With one exception: I need to set the text value of that text
    dynamically using loadVars (the text is dates that vary).
    No problem, I can do that with dynamic text, except for a few
    somewhat ugly problems.
    Problem 1 - I want the text just to display. The dynamic text
    gets the I-Beam mouse cursor.
    Problem 2 - Dynamic text lets the user select some or all of
    the text, which then shows in highlighted color.
    I don't want the user to have any interaction with the text,
    and I'd like to have the "hand" mouse pointer over it, which
    carries through from the button underneath, just like the static
    text currently does.
    I've tried the label component, but when you move it, it
    evaluates the HTML that sets the color too slowly, so you only see
    the start and end points. I've tried on (load) and on (draw), and
    the text looks like it's taking a huge hop from starting point to
    ending point, instead of moving gracefully across the real estate
    (default is black, html makes it white).
    Any idea how I can get text to move, to format, to get its
    text at startup and still look like and act like it's the text on
    top of a button?
    I'd very much appreciate any help!
    Thank you. Sign me stymied! :-)
    Alan Arthur Katz

    Problem 1 and 2: Set the textfields to not be selectable in
    the Properties panel. If that's not a solution, say a little more
    about how you have it pieced together.

  • Flash CC 2014 publishing Adobe AIR 17 - use captive or shared runtime?

    I developed an app using Flash CC 2014, In IOS I had to upgrade to the builder and I got the function to work, but now I have the same app and need to develop for Android. I created a separate fla and did the following
    Used Android 17.0.0.96
    added the general info
    created the p12 now I have the option to choose captive or shared runtime. I get warnings about each when I publish so I have to publish this app to GooglePlay and need to know the procedure as I'm on a Mac and I see procedures involving code when doing this on a windows machine.
    Can someone help me out here?
    R

    I would recommend to use "Captive".
    Difference is pretty simple...
    Shared Basically means that it compiles the "apk" without the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a smaller file size apk but REQUIRES users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
    Captive means that it compiles the "apk" with the Adobe AIR runtime, resulting in a larger file size apk but DOES NOT REQUIRE users to have the "Adobe AIR App" installed.
    If you want to Guarantee everyone can run your app, use captive. If you want to rely on users to hope the have the correct version of AIR installed to view your app, use Shared.

    I think the title says it all. I'm building website and I've come half way now just to notice that my clients cant see my font that supposed to be there. What I've learned so far is that in static text fields, flash should embed it itself since I can't reference to it + embedFonts property not working, how can I fix this problem? Anyone had anything similar? What are common mistakes? I'm pretty new at all of this...
