Flash CC Crashes on File -- Close
Hello,
I recently upgrade from Flash CS to Flash CC and now, everytime I try to close a document I am working on --
Flash CC crashes completely and I have to restart.
This happens EVERY time I open, edit, save and close an .fla file.
Also -- if I try to paste in a resource ( such as a full menu ) that is intended to replace the already existing one in the current file,
I get the expected dialog:
"One or more library items already exist in the document...
* Don't Replace
* Replace
* Put Duplicate
[ OK ] [ Cancel ]"
Selecting the 2nd "Replace" Option -- it still simply adds a duplicate copy of the resource anyway.

As with Dreamweaver -- which is now completely useless as a code editor,
it looks like I will have to downgrade Flash back to CS6 in order to get any work done.
XIMBALO
Can you ensure that Flash Pro CC is updated to 13.0.1.808 from your Help->About Flash dialog.
This issue on Windows was fixed in the update 1: http://blogs.adobe.com/flashpro/2013/08/20/flash-pro-cc-update-1/

HELP! Mac G4 Finder flashes off and on, files close
My sturdy mac G4 running OSX 10.4.11 has developed a weird thing where the finder flashes off and on, the files flash off all together as if someone was resetting the finder. I ran disk warrior and utilities but still doing the same thing. Any suggestions? Never had virus. Whaats up?
Hi greenteam, and a warm welcome to the forums!
It's likely some 3rd Party APP that got broken by the recent QT or Security update.
Stuffit AVR has been a big one, if you have that use the Pref Pane to turn it off, but others have been implicated too. Check System Preferences for a Stuffit Pref Pane and disable AVR.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it is some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Mac Dreamweaver CS3 crashes on file close
A new behaviour. I've tried removing the configuration folder. No joy. Any other ideas?

That technote refers to the Site Cache. The Dreamweaver file
cache that
normally causes problems is described here:

When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes
When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes. I have to open the reader, then search for the pdf file through the reader. I'm using Adobe Reader 11.0.5 with windows 7 service pack 1 home premium. Is there any way I can just click on a PDF file and the reader automaticaly opens? I purchased the upgrade so I can convert PDF to Word but it didnt make any difference.
Some things to try...
Update Reader to version 11.0.06
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html -
Flash CS5 Crashing when opening a specific .fla file
I just upgraded from Flash Professional CS4 to CS5. Everything seemed to be working fine. After upgrading, I started working on a project I had been creating in CS4 on the new CS5. The file opened originally and I worked on it in the new CS5. My swf works and the video plays. All of the external swf files I load in to the Index swf work great. They were created in the new CS5. I can open the external swf, .fla files without any problem. But when I open the one Index file that was created in CS4, Flash CS5 crashes saying there was an unexpected error. I have uninstalled and installed flash several times. I have tried deleting the com.adobe.flash.plist file and restarting. Nothing has worked. I am really afraid I'm going to lose this file and all the work put in to it. Can anyone help me with some ideas to troubleshoot this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You're still using 12.0.0, and the current version is 12.0.2.
That looks like a font related crash fixed a while back. -
Flash CC crashes after publishing iOS app + publish settings are not being saved to file
I have two issues:
1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
Since yesterday Flash CC keeps crashing right after I publish an iOS app. The app is published correctly though. I tried everything from restarting my MAC, reinstalling Flash, removing the folder "Flash CC 2014" inside Application Support/Adobe. But all this did not work.
2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
Since the first day I installed Flash CC, it did not save my publish settings along with the .fla-file. I never had this issue with Flash CS 5.5. This was not a very big issue, but now every time I publish an app and Flash CC crashes I have to fill in all the publish settings manually. Now I'm getting frustrated. Even saving my settings as a preset, storing it inside a folder and importing it again, won't help. Then I will get the message: "Import failed: invalid profile file."
Can please anyone help me with these issues? It is quite time consuming to continuously enter the settings manually after every crash.

Flash Crashing - CS6 - File Corrupt
Hi All,
A couple of our users are having issues with Flash Pro CS6. They are having the issue intermittently and are unable to force the issue to occur. Please see below notes for further information.
Any help would be appreciated as we have run out of ideas!
I tried a chat session, however, it seems CS6 is not supported through chat...
Flash Issue Notes
Using Flash Pro v6
Saving files as Flash Pro v5.5
We have tried using four different computers, the latest one is Windows 7 Pro i7 processor 16GB RAM. On a gigabit network connection.
Has error when saving “Unable to save the document as “W:\x\x\test.fla”. Please try saving to a different filename or to a different location.
Upon saving the second time flash crashes and currupts the origional file – the new file is 0kb in size – when opening origional file we get Ünrecognised file format.
When saving again flash crashes and makes the original file corrupt – it is something to do with the DOMDocument.xml in the “Zipped” .fla file.
When repairing the zip file the DOMDocument.xml file is the only one that cannot be recovered.
Error also occurs when working on file from C:\ drive.
Cannot upgrade to Flash CC as we need active script 2

if that fails to fix the problem, start your computer in safe mode and see if the problem occurs.
if it does, update windows.
if it does not, you have some non-windows program causing the problem. -
Flash CS3 crashes whenever creating or opening file
Hello,
I am running on Windows XP Flash CS3 professional. I was working on a project and using the text tool to add some text to the project... when I went to paste the content into the text box, the focus went to the font face selection text box and the Flash program crashed.
Now it continues to crash whenever I try to open an existing FLA or create a new file. I restarted the PC several times and this issue continues.
Here is the Application error report from the Event Viewer under Computer Management
Faulting application flash.exe, version 9.0.0.494, faulting module flash.exe, version 9.0.0.494, fault address 0x004ee526.
My next step is to reinstall....hopefully I will not need to do that.
thank you,
TimHello,
Could you please install the new Flash Professional CS6 Update 2? Let us know if you still face crashes.
Regards,
Suhas Yogin -
Flash player Crashes every time 3 items or more running...
Since I updated to Flash Player 11,7,700,169 every time 3 or more Flash player items run, Flash Player crashes.
This happens in either Firefox or IE!
Eg.If the problem occurs in Firefox when I also have IE open then it affects IE & Vice Versa...
Is there a fix for this as it's becoming ridiculous now with the amount of crashes happening?

avrt.dll C:\Windows\System32\avrt.dll 6.2.9200.16420Hi Chris,
I'm not the original reporter, but I can confirm IE9 crashes in my wife's Windows 7 computer every time, on this site: http://dk.timefor.tv after latest update. Whenever she presses the "TV-Guide" link, it'll crash. It also happens if she opens the http://dk.timefor.tv/tv-guide directly, but in that case not until she leaves the page or closes the browser. Other sites are not quite as consistent, but after the update she sees a _lot_ of crashes, to the point that she's had to disable the plugin and use Chrome for sites using Flash instead.
IE9 in my own computer doesn't have the same problem (Both are 64-bit Windows 7, her computer is a T420 with a Core i5-2410M and 4 GB RAM).
I'm sending you the dump now (John, please note that you need to use -f * instead of -f "" to actually get it to create the dump, -f "" just shows that there was an exception, it wont dump it).
A funny thing I noticed is that her add-on manager thought that the plugin was 10.x (can't remember the exact version), even though more information said that the file was "Flash32_11_7_700_169.ocx" until I completely removed the Flash plugin installation and installed it again. However, the crash persists, even though the version is correct now (the dump is from the freshly installed version).
Another difference I saw between our machines was that the Flash updater on my PC did not require IE to be closed, but hers did, both when trying to re-update and doing the fresh install.
Best regards,
Dennis Du Krøger -
Firefox Flash plugin crashes when FF launched with "Run as different user"
I often start Firefox in Windows 7 (x64) using the "Run as different user" mechanism. After upgrading my Flash plugin to v11 (11.8.800.94), the browser will hang for several minutes when visiting any page that contains Flash content. When Firefox becomes responsive again, scrolling a page with Flash content will cause the app to hang again. Disabling the Flash plugin eliminates the problem.
It seems the plugin is silently crashing -- I'm not alerted to a plugin crash in any way (no dialog or yellow "Flash player crashed" notice at the top of the window), but after FF hangs I will see a new crash report entry in the FF about:crashes list. An example crash report is available at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ff452291-b5b2-44e4-a172-416792130818
The plugin does not crash when Firefox is running under the same account that is logged onto Windows interactively -- only when running FF as a different user. For example, if I log onto Windows with user account Adam and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist. If I close FF and launch it as user Bob (shift+right-click Firefox Shortcut, choose "Run as different user"), the problem will appear. However, if I log into Windows as user Bob and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist.
I have tried the following as troubleshooting steps, all to no effect:
Create new Windows user accounts to rule out potential Windows or Firefox profile issues.
Use another PC (also Windows 7 x64). The same behavior occurs on both PCs
Disable AVG antivirus.
Upgrade Firefox to latest version (23.0.1).
Disable Flash hardware acceleration.
Give both user accounts full local admin privileges.
Can anyone suggest something to try next?
Update: Per the troubleshooting instructions at < http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 >, I was able to eliminate the problem by adding the line
ProtectedMode=0
to my C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg file to disable Flash Player Protected Mode. There are instructions on that page for submitting a Protected Mode-related bug, and I will follow through with that.Maybe you did't understand my previous statement. There are no crashes in FF 3.6, There is no previous evidence FF 14 was ever here, I completely uninstalled all trace of Firefox, no app data, no preferences, no cache. I will upgrade to FF14 so I can send IDs,
so here ya go.

did you manage to resolve the issue? Or have you reported it to jira?
I am expriencing similar problems with fb 4.6 on mac os 6.6. Flex crushes all of sudden when opening MXML file in project. I have found that this is somewhat related to the graphic card in use. If i swith card to "discrete only", open flex, reopen project (with all files closed), clean and rebuild - I am then able to open MXML with no problems.

Help: flash CS5 crashing and corrupted .fla's
I'm having one hell of a problem and could really use anyone's help who has a good idea.
I am working in flash CS5 on windows 7 64.
I am currently also running into the crash at save problem. The most recent version of my .fla corrupted about four days ago, which is something I've grown accustomed to (got the wonderful 'unexpected file format' error). So I went to my backup file- same issue. I had to go back 12 backup versions to find one that would work (even my backups on external drives when copied back over to the local drive or opened from the external would give this error. They did NOT give this error a week ago). But this backup version now crashes on Save, Save As, or if I try to create a new .fla while the backup .fla is open, it crashes. If I try to open any other .fla while the backup .fla is open, flash crashes. Sometimes is gets non responsive and needs to close; sometimes it simply sits there, does nothing, SAYS it's running, but will not respond to clicks, minimizing the window, or anything at all and I will have to force quit out. Sometimes it will crash when simply clicking a library item.
I have tried the following recommended fixes:
save the file to a new directory- on the rare chance that flash doesn't crash on save (about 1 in 10), and doesn't corrupt and make a new .fla that's 2k in size (about 1 in 4), the new .fla has all the same problems of the original.
change the JAVA environment variable- no help
increase the jvm.ini xmx value - tried 124. 256, 512, no help
open the file using zip and access the xml library assets directly, deleting them until you find a corrupt file- done it. three times. to three different versions of the .fla from the backup files. Flash still crashes.
save out as .xfl - on the rare chance that flash doesn't crash on save, the .xfl is corrupted (2k file size, no library, and for some reason a black square for an icon) about 3 out of 4 times. The 4th time, the file works no better than any other .fla
update flash player - no help.
update plugins for all browsers and debug versions - no help
update flash CS5 to the most recent version - no help
download and install all windows updates - no help
delete preferences and config folders - no help
The ONLY way I can avoid flash crashing is to go back to a backup version from more than two months ago. This version will open, save properly, and debug properly without error.
I have attempted and failed at every suggested fix I have found online or on these forums for this cluster of problems I'm currently having. I have three weeks to the project deadline, and there is no way I can go back two months in the production timeline.
obviously I cannot afford to lose two months of work. If anyone has any idea what could be happening, I would be exstatic- I'm really at the end of my rope here. After four days of looking for help and fixes online and on these forums and talking to adobe support on the phone ('we do not handle coding issues' is the only response I get. gee, thanks for the help), none of the fixes that have been recommended to me have worked.another update-
I've managed to reconstruct a file from my original corrupted file that will open and is editable (as long as i don't click through the library items too fast- that will freeze and crash flash). This file is less than 50 megs.
When attempting to publish, export, or test in conjunction with the document .as associated with the file however I end up with either A: no swf produced and an empty report, or B: a 2k swf with a black square for an icon.
debug produces the 'does not contain actionscript' error.
upon failing to publish, export, test, or debug, flash will then either A: freeze B:freeze, then crash, or (my personal favorite) C: continue to function so long as I don't click on any library items, try to open a new file, try to open an old file, try to save, try to save as, try to exit the program, or try to close a file from the window (all of these result in freezing, crashing, or freezing and then crashing. There is no apparent pattern to what happens). Also, clicking back and forth between the properties and library panels in the fla file or the as file will, well, sort of overlay the two panels halfway on top of each other and sort of 'ghost' parts of one onto the other. What I mean is, if the library panel is open and I click over to the properties panel (both are tabs in the same window of the workspace), the properties panel will be completely gray without any of it's usual boxes or text or button, and instead will have the names of some of the previous library items, greyed out, floating in random places that don't directly relate to where they were before. Basically, it's all messed up. And at this point the program will either freeze, crash, freeze and crash, or become completely unresponsive and require a force quit (surprise!).
If I gut the fla down to an even smaller size of about 10-20megs, I can avoid most of these problems, although flash is still very slow to open files (20meg file takes a good 90-120 seconds to open), save files (at least 30 seconds to save a 20meg), and generally clicking around and going about my business of editing symbols or typing script is laggy and slow. This of course doesn't really do me much good, since it requires me to gut 80% of my projects assets.
I can't tell if i'm getting closer or further away from a solution....... -
Flash CS6 crashes when publishing fla`s with big libraries
Hi guys,
I am currently working with Flash CS6 and i noted that the bigger the libraries in my fla`s get the more likely flash will crash when i try to publish these fla`s. It already has gotten to a point where all the crashes, and then trying again to publish, has taken up a considerable amount of my time. But the thing is the publishing does not alway result in a crash, its more like 80% of the time it crashes. Also what i do once a file has crashed, i open it again and then just open and close some folders in the library, then safe and then try to publish again. After doing this 4 - 5 times publishing suddenly works again, but also just 4 - 5 times until it crashes again and i have to do it all over again.
So again, this only seems to happen with fla`s with big libraries. Is ther something i can do about this? It's been my experience that Flash doesn't much like a few things in particular. One is large vector files with a lot of points; in other words stuff brought in from Illustrator or trace bitmapped from within the program so you might try reducing the amount of points in your art if you'r working with imported art. Flash seems to work best when all art has been created within the program. If you've converted it to vector via the Trace Bitmap or Illustrator's Live Trace it doesn't like that either. It also tends to bog down with high resolution bitmaps, especially with many layers (which greatly add to the file size) so you might try to flatten some of the art to make it more managable. In general, maybe see if you can reduce whatever file sizes you can in your project before you import them. I typically have some pretty big libraries and Flash doesn't crash so much for me so changing your workflow a bit might be useful. IF it's code that's crashing the render, that I can't help you with, but there's some pretty knowledgable people on this board who might be able to help in that regard.

On Paltalk Express, the Adobe Flash plugin crashes when logging in
The Paltalk Express page loads, but when I try to login, the Adobe Flash plugin crashes.
== URL of affected sites ==
http://express.paltalk.com/I'm running on Ubuntu 9.10 with Firefox 3.6.10.
thanks to the first post, i didn't downgrade Firefox to 3.5 but i did download 3.5.
Here is what i did:
I downloaded 3.5.13 : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
The link to 3.5.13 is on the right under Other Versions.
Once you click on FF 3.5.13, it'll take you to all different languages of 3.5.13.
I got the English version. The name of the file is : firefox-3.5.13.tar.bz2
Once downloaded, i opened the location of the file( Downloads folder) and opened the package by double clicking on it. YOur 9.10 should be able to recognize bz2 format and you will see a folder called Firefox in the archive.
Simply, extract the folder and place it on your desktop.
IF you want to run FF3.5.13, close all firefox browsers that are already opened.
Once this is done, Open the folder "Firefox" that you just extracted and double click on the file firefox. It should ask you to run, display, run in terminal... simply press run.
This is how i got it to work. simple steps. to confirm it is working, check the version of firefox and try paltalk express -

for the past few weeks, I get this error Shockwave Flash has crashed reload while attemping to view the online shows on the comcast website. So I cant watch the videos at all, I can watch other videos on youtube and on the webpages. I had the same problem. I had to disable the protected mode in Adobe Flash Player, which is set by default. Here is what I did to solve it. 1. Update your Adobe Flash Player to the current version. You have to do this on a regular basis because Adobe releases new versions all the time, mostly due to security flaws that they find. Make sure that you uncheck the box that says "Optional Offers," otherwise you'll get something extra in the download that you really don't need. 2. Close your web browser. 3. Lauch Windows Explorer, not Windows Interent Explorer. The quickest way to do so is a) Click Startb) In the seach box, type the following "explorer.exe"c) Under "Programs," you will see "Windows Explorer."d) Right-Click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Run As Administrator." 4. Once you have "Windows Explorer" open, browse to the following location: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash 5. In this folder, you will see a file called "mms.cfg" 6. Right-click on "mms.cfg" and then select "properties." 7. In the "properties" tab, select the "security" tab. 8. In the "security" tab, you will see group or users. Select "users" and then click the "edit" button to change the file premissions for file "mms.cfg." Be sure to check all of the allow boxes, otherwise you won't be able to change the protection mode settings in the next step. Click OK to close the properties box. 9. Right-click on "mms.cfg" and then select "Open." Windows will tell you that it cannot open the file and will then give you two options. Select the option that says "Select a program from the list of installed programs." 10. In the programs list, select "Notepad" to open the file in Notepad. 10. In Notepad, add the following line: ProtectedMode=0 11. Then select "file," and then "save" to save to modified "mms.cfg" file. 12. Relaunch your web browser and try to viewing the video again. If you are still having problems viewing videos, you may also need to disable hardware accelleration in Adobe Flash Player. You can do this by right-clicking on any video and then uncheck the box that says "enable hardware accelleration." The reason you may have to do this is because some graphics cards have accellartion already built into them. Source: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/993019
