Flash CC Eraser Faucet Bug. Mac Only? (video included)

I've reported this bug, but haven't heard a reply since I submitted the screencast video they requested.
This happens in Flash CC on MacOS X (10.8, 10.9 tested)
The issue: When using the eraser faucet tool to delete overlapping lines, the line or contiguous group next to the target will sometimes vanish. The Undo command will only bring back the intentionally deleted lines, not the ones that vanisheded on their own.
As a result, I can only get back all the overlapping lines I intended to delete, not the drawn object I wanted to keep.
I know this bug dosen't happen in CS3 (after using this tool extensively for a week on an animation project)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM0Fnz9aFxk
I haven't seen this bug occur on Windows yet, but if people want to try and replicate the bug demonstrated in the attached video, the results might be informative.

Here is a sample file to recreate the bug.
Instructions:
•Open File in Flash Professional CC on MacOS X 10.8 or 10.9
•Use the Erase Faucet tool to delete all the RED lines
•If a BLACK line disappears, attempt to Undo the action
Observed Bug:
Black lines connected to the Deleted red lines may disappear accidentally.
Black lines which disappear in this manner do not reappear when the Undo command is used, only the Red lines do.
I've triggered the bug twice. The first time the left eye disappeared, the second time two fingers on the right hand disappeared, but the eye did not.
I recommend trying to delete every red line from the image, and see if a black line vanishes as described. If the bug does not trigger, reload the saved file and try again.

  • Data recovery house tainted my Mac-only files: help!

I sent a failed ext. FW drive (clicking sound, wouldn’t mount) to a fairly-well-known data recovery specialist that advertised PC and Mac formats. The drive contained numerous Mac-only files, including Sound Designer II audio files (.sd2), Final Cut Pro (.fcp), and Digital Performer files (native, no suffix), to name a few.
After said specialist started working on the drive, it became frighteningly apparent that they were not up to speed on Mac systems. To make a long story short, after a couple of weeks I received a hard drive formatted FAT32, and every Mac-only file showed up in Finder as a Unix Executable file.
My first thought was they were using Windows-based software and had corrupted all my Mac-only files beyond repair. Forging ahead and knowing nothing about scripts, I used a 3rd party program called Super Get Info and was able to change the Type and Author of the Digital Performer files, and got them to open. So far, so good. But changing the Type and Author of the .sd2 files didn’t yield the same results; Finder sees the type, size, etc. but no audio program (DP, Peak, Jam) will open them.
Thinking I was screwed, I opened another project in DP that contained audio files which were still recognized in Finder as Unix Executables, and they played! I have no idea why this works---no other program will open them independently---but it shows if I can get an app to recognize them, they are still valid files.
Is there a way to dig deeper, besides just changing the Type and Author, to essentially get back all the header(?) information that was originally there in the .sd2 files (before the "data recovery") so an audio program can see that these are indeed valid files and legit to operate on? Something in Developer Tools, 3rd party, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Roger

Extern firewire drives often come formatted as FAT32 - so unless you reformatted it yourself that may have been the way it was. When Mactintosh files are saved to a FAT32 file system, the resource information is written to a file with a ._ added to the front of the file name. If you go to a terminal window and cd to your extern drive, "ls -A" will show if the resource information is there. For a file call "file.s2d", you should see a hidden file call "._file.s2d". Some utilites have trouble creating resource forks on FAT32 drives - so your utility may not be working. Try moving some of your files back to your main drive and correct the Creator and file type there - may be that will work.

  • Live Flash Streams issue on Multiple Macs - video frozen, audio only

With live Flash streams on some Macs, the video doesn't play and only the audio does (or more accurately, the video plays for a second or so and then shows a frozen frame while the audio keeps going).  We've had this occur on three different Macs so far, but not all Macs we've tested on.  We were able to look up the graphics cards on two of them that had issues and they both have both NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT listed in the System Profiler.
Having the user manually disable hardware acceleration fixes the issue, as does pausing and then playing the video.  Running Safari in 32 bit mode did NOT fix the issue.
Flash player release notes list this as a known issue.  When might a patch for be released?  We don't want to disable hardware acceleration for all Mac users because it only affects some of them and thus some / many would be unnecessarily negatively impacted.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/901/cpsid_90194.html#main_known%20issues
Mac users may run into rendering issues with certain live streams due to  an incompatibility between the stream encoding and the hardware  decoder. We are aware of this issue and are working with Apple to  resolve it.  Users may workaround the issue by pausing and then  unpausing the live stream.  Developers can work around this issue by  forcing the video to be decoded in software - create two Video objects,  attach the stream to the first, then stop it and attach the stream to  the second Video object (2819870, 2818959, 2779420).

    From Brad Outlaw:
Are you reusing the same Video object for the new NetStreams?  Have you tried doing a Video.attachNetStream(null), Video.clear() and then attaching the new (or re-allocated) NetStream object?  The video pipeline might be playing out some residual data that was sent to it from the prior NetStream.
Adding those suggestions seems have have done the trick. I had simply been trying to manipulate the NetStream and not the Video. Although I did try attaching a null NetStream to the video at one point, I had not done so with the Video.clear().

  • USB FLASH DRIVE WORKS ON MAC BUT NOT ON WINDOWS... CAUSE I ERASED IT IN MAC

I decided to take my work flash drive home to work on a file. At home I saw that some weird files were on the flash drive and wouldn't delete, so I decided to save my files on my Mac and erase the USB flash drive. I selected the flash drive (by the way it's a 2 GB flashdrive) and I used the SECURITY OPTION 35 PASS ERRASE. Format: MS-DOS (FAT).
Everything was fine until I took my flash drive to work and plugged it on a Windows XP Computer and it appeared as Drive E I think and when I tried to open it it asked me to format it. I risked it and clicked OK and it said that I didn't have sufficient rights or something.
    SUMMERY:
2 GB USB ERASED USING MAC DISSK UTILITY
EVERYTHING FINE UNTIL I PLUG IN THE FLASH DRIVE IN A WINDOWS
WINDOWS ASKS ME TO REFORMAT FILE
I PLUG IT INTO A MAC COMPUTER AT WORK AND IT DOES WORK
IF ANYBODY KNOWS HOW DO I FIX THIS THANKS?

The drive is probably now formatted for a Mac only file system. To format for a PC:
Insert the drive in the Mac and start Disk Utility (Utilities folder).
Select the drive in the left column. Be sure to select the drive (all the way to the left) not a volume (indented below the drive name).
    Select the "Partition" tab.
Set "Volume Scheme" to "1 Partition" (not "Current" even if it's already one partition).
    Click the "Options" button".
    Select "Master Boot Record".
    Click the "OK" button.
Enter a volume name (all uppercase).
    Set "Format" to "MS-DOS (FAT)".
    Click the "Apply" button.

  • No UI redraw while Mousedown in Illustrator with flash panel (MAC only)

    Hello all,
I've noticed in Illustrator whenever the mouse is held down over a FLASH UI object on a mac no updates are drawn to the UI until the mouse button is released. This makes things like highlighting text , using scrollbars etc very awkward.
Has anyone else come across this?
I have slightly altered the sample "Freegrid" & "FreegridUI" found in the illustrator CS5 SDK. I'm running in debug mode & the events are working perfectly (as far as I know)
Interestingly enough the same code works in windows perfectly.
I also experienced the exact same problem back in CS4 when i was using the ADM flash player UI to play my flash animation. My previous CS4 post is
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/533171  (7 months ago, boy how time flies)
I have tried on two macs. One PPC the other Intel, 1.5.8 OS
    Thanks.

I have retested and confirmed; The bundled FreegridUI ZXP appears to have the same draw problem I have described.
The answer to your question is, from my perspective: The supplied Freegrid works well on both Win & Mac; FreegridUI works well only on windows. My code does not seem to be a factor here at all.
Due to the nature of the samples given in the SDK it is not something that would appear to be obvious, but it fortunately is very easy to reproduce.
(the problem is extremely noticable with a scrollbar, the scrollbar graphic does not update until the mouse is released!)
Slowly highlight any text you have entered and you will notice the lack of UI feedback until the mouse is released.
Running the FreegridUI.swf file directly does not have this problem. AFAIK that means this problem is either related to me compiling "Freegrid" or the way the flash panel is being handled on a mac.
This problem has occured on 10.5 Mac OS PPC and Intel. I will be testing it on 10.6 shortly!
If i had any choice I would stick to windows programming, I'm not a big fan of Xcode!
Please tell me i'm not crazy, or it's some crazy compiler flag that I have missed.
    Thanks!

  • Mac only boots into Windows, then blue screen, then shuts down

I just got a new MacBook Pro in January (and this is my first Mac) and purchased Windows 7 to run on it. I've successfully run it since then, but just last week my computer froze and now when I try to restart it, it goes to the black "starting windows" screen and then immediately flashes to a blue screen for only a few seconds that says:
    CACHE_MANAGER
If this is the first time you'v eseen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manfuacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to selected Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
    Technical Information:
    * STOP: 0x00000034 (0x00000107, 0x00000420, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
    Collecting data for crash dump...
    Initializing disk for crash dump...
    Beginning dump of physical memory...
Dumping physical memory to disk: 100
I tried booting my computer up in safe mode, but it doesn't work - goes to the same blue screen and crashes. I also tried the "startup repair" tool, which did not find anything to repair, and the option to restore the computer to a previous time when it operated, but that didn't work either. I tried the memory diagnostic and it did not find any problems.
When I boot it up, I try holding down the option key, I only get the option to start up in the Windows partition of my drive. There is no option to start my computer using the Mac OSX drive. I think this is an issue with Windows, but I'm not sure if it could be an issue with my Mac operating system or hardware.
I appreciate any help someone can provide!

  • Firefox cannot play tutorials at Mac Pro Video, but Safari can

For 3 months I could watch tutorials at Mac Pro Video in Firefox, but now they do not play, they just briefly flash on then go to a blank white screen. When I switch to Safari the videos do play normally.
My Firefox plugin check gives erroneous versions for Shockwave Director and Java Applet. I updated both but the plugin check says I still have the older version

I wasn't going to use it anymore until I got a new one, but I need to get video editing done in the meantime, so I have been keeping the card cool and only working on the computer for short amounts of time.  Is this smart to do?
Smart or not isn't the question, it's a matter of need.
Prolonged or repeated overheating will kill the card.
Also why would the video card fan break like that?
Abuse, a freak accident, bad plastic, etc.
What model card is it? Some cards have a history for specific ills, like the Radeon X1900, Geforce 7300 GT, Radeon 2600, Geforce 8800........
And finally could you suggest another video card to purchase.

  • Help - flash player v6 standalone for mac OS 8.6?

desperately looking for flash standalone player v6 for mac OS
8.6. tried the adobe downloads archived flash player section:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=2
theres an extensive version 6, but the install only installs
browser plugins, not the standalone player. even if someone has a
v6 standalone player they could zip and email me i would be
    eternally grateful.
the release notes talk about a standalone, but its not in the
hqx file that the link gives you.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/releasenotes/player/rn_6.html

What are you trying to do? Mac 8.6 is so old as is the Flash
    6 player.
ASFAIK, the stand alone players are not generally
distributed. They are only included with the Flash authoring tool.
Maybe it was different back in 2001...
If you have a copy of Flash that runs on Mac OS 8.6 (or
perhaps even OS 9) here is a trick that may help you. (Some of the
names might be off a bit due to changes in the interface. I can't
    remember that far back!)
    Open up Flash.
    Create a new Flash document.
Save it with a name like "MyFlashPlayer"
Go to the File menu and select publish options.
Check the box to publish a Mac projector.
Uncheck the publish to SWF box
    Publish your file.
You can now use the projector to open swf files.
Don't know if that will help, but it might. Otherwise let us
know what you are trying to do.

  • Flash Builder 4 fails on Mac OS X

    Hi,
I've a strong problem to run Flash Builder 4 on a Mac OS X 10.5.7
Install works perfectly, in all cases.
with Eclipse plug-ins version, Eclipse starts. But when I try to open any Flash perspective in Eclipse I got the message :
    Erros opening perspective 'com.adobe.flexbuilder.editors.mxml.ui.perpective.development'
When I try to use stand alone Flash Buidler, it is worse : Flash BUilder do not start and display an error asking to check the log (see below), then crashes.
Here's the log (sorry for the length) , almost the same if I use Eclipse plug-ins or stand alone Flash BUilder. I've tried many many things like install clean carbon Eclipse first the Flash BUilder, Install embedded eclipse version, etc. It never works. Attemps to use other JVMs versions also failed. An idea ? Flex Builder 3 works perfectly on the same machine, as well as Java or C++ versions of Eclips.

    Dear all,
Finally I solved the problem. Indeed, my boot hard disk had to be reformatted for a catalog file crash (not linked with this issue), forcing me to reinstall my Mac OS X from scratch.
Then I reinstalled my environnement. The following process was successful, exactly in this order, as there is obviously a problem between svn eclipse plug-ins and Flash 4 Builder (for all OS, not only Mac OS : NEVER install svn after having install FB4, it doesn't work).
    1) Install eclipse-jee-ganymede-SR2-macosx-carbon.tar
    2) Install svn with only the 2 following components : (check only those 2 check box in Available Software panel in Eclipse Software updates menus)
          - SVN Team Provider incubation from Ganymede update site (http://download.eclipse.org/technology/subversive/0.7/update-site/)
         - SVNKit 1.1.7 Implementation from Polarion site : http://community.polarion.com/projects/subversive/download/eclipse/2.0/update-site/
    3) Install flashbuilder4_b1_plugin_mac_060109.dmg. Do not use the Eclipse bundled with Flash but select the Eclipse installed first, during plug ins install
start Eclipse not from the shortcut given in Flash Builder directory, but with Eclipse standard icon.
    And it works fine now.
It seems that most of my problems were coming from a bad install of svn, where I was installing windows extensions that are not used or course by svn plug ins on a Mac...
Anyway, I suggest Adobe Flash builder team to think to use Eclipse Software Update standard procedure, instead of a proprietary installer. It would certify the right dependencies...

  • Mac pro video questions

I'm thinking about getting one or more of the mac pro videos to supplement the logic manual in my attempt to get a better grasp of the program and its capabilities and am looking for some advice. Although I'm partially temped to just buy the whole bundle, adding $200 to the amount I'm spending on music gear in the next couple months (I'll be buying monitors and a firewire interface) is probably not a good idea, and there are some videos that I don't expect I'd use at all (at least not any time soon). Addionally, I am aware that a great deal can be learned through experimentation, but that a good course or reference guide will provide a much faster learning process for me, and teach me things I won't figure out on my own.
Basically, I'm trying to decide whether to simply get the 101 video or the producer's bundle. Here's a basic overview of what I've used Logic for so far, and what I expect to do in the near future:
-primarliy small projects--only a few minutes in length, no more than 12 tracks
-exclusively Logic's plugin instruments and effects thus far, but intend to start using some live audio as well (though VIs will still make up the majority of the music)
-I've started to work on a couple short student film projects, and plan to do more in the future--for right now, I'm content with scoring for smaller instrumentation while still developing compositional skills.
My big question is about use of the environment and whether or not I should get the corresponding video. I know that this is an extremely useful tool, and yet with what I've been doing so far, I haven't needed to deal with it. Perhaps I'm missing things that I could be doing using it for, but so far I've found that everything I've needed can be found in the audio mixer. I'm sure that somewhere down the road I'll want to be familiar with the environment's functions, but I'm not certain that I need it now with my current setup. If someone could clarify some of the environments uses that would be beneficial to my current needs, that would be super. This may determine whether or not I go for the producer's bundle.
I know the obvious answer is most likely "the bundles are worth the added expense," and would certainly agree, but I'm going into poor/in debt student mode soon, so I need to be careful. Thanks.

I guess the main issue here is whether I should get them all now or get them gradually. Obviously, the general feeling here is that I should just go for it, and given the money I'd save all around by getting the main bundle, it makes sense. However, I feel that, for the projects I've been working on until now and will have in the near future, there are videos I could do without. And given my financial situation (aka I work at a video store and will soon have massive student debt), it might be best to wait on those.
So I'm wondering how essential certain elements are to general versatility in using Logic, so I can decide whether or not I need them right away. For example, I'm planning on using the native instruments bundle for samples, so I'm not sure that I really need the EXS tutorial. And I've just realized that I do actually use the environment all the time, I just forgot that the audio mixer is technically part of it--so that tutorial would probably be very useful.
Hypothetically, if I were to choose 1 or 2 tutorials (in addition to 101) to buy, and given the general overview of how I've been using Logic, which ones should they be?

  • My macbook wont sync the music i downloaded onto a flash drive and onto the mac book what do i do?

My macbook wont sync the music i downloaded onto a flash drive and onto the mac book what do i do?

If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc.  you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod.  I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard.

  • Is there presenter v10 for Mac, is video Express the same features i.e. Powerpoint etc etc

is there presenter V10 for Mac, is video Express V10 the same features as windows version  i.e. Powerpoint etc etc

The Presenter Video Express is a screen and web cam capture tool. The PPT integration and functionality is Widows only.
You may want to look at Captivate, which has both a Mac and Windows version, and can work with PPT content.

  • When starting up after a erase/reinstall of Mac OS X 10.6 it will not accept any of my passwords/names

when starting up after a erase/reinstall of Mac OS X 10.6 it will not accept any of my passwords/names, I had just entered my info and clicked on "continue", the cube began to turn and froze, a translucent screen came over the whole window and request that I restart the computer, after doing so, I got the start up sound and a message saying that OS X was starting up and then the sign in window, but when I entered my info it kept shaking/rejecting it, only thing I can think is that could I have possibly entered my password wrong twice, don't know, I'm still scratching my head.

Do it again, I'm afraid. Be sure you set up the initial admin account with a proper password you can remember - all lowercase letters and numbers. No special characters or spaces except for the "_" underline character.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
