Flash conflict w/ IE 6

Apparently there is a conflict between Flash Player and Windows Explorer 6.  If I open a site that uses flash player, obviously I am asked to download flash player.  Shortly after doing the download an error message pops up telling that Windows Explorer is shutting down.  Then if I reopen my browser and go to another site that uses flash player I get the same message.  If I uninstall flash player and all flash directories, I can then open my browser and go to any site using flash.  As long as I always answer "no" when asked to install flash player, I can continue to view the site - just with out any video or flash gadgets.
Is anyone familiar with this problem or know what I can do to fix it.  My OS is W2K.
Thanks!

Hi again, When I checked on the ServerProtect, I could not determine whether it provided a Firewall. Perhaps you do.
The built in Firewall with the Modem is not a problem since you'll be installing off line.
I hope you have had a chance to look over the Uninstall/Install instructions as they are very important to follow.
If you have those taken care of, then the first thing you would do is download this Adobe Uninstaller to your Desktop.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE the Installer to your Desktop.
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Then do the following and in this order please.
1. Whatever Add ons you have Disable them all, and any Toolbars, likewise.
2. Disconnect from the Internet
3. Disable any Firewall that may be with the ServerProtect (Windows Firewall if you have it is ok)
4. Disable the ServerProtect Anti-Virus and any other Spyware etc that runs in the background
5. Close all browsers and any program that uses Flash & check the system tray for that also.
6. Run the Uninstaller from your Desktop, being sure to follow the last NOTE in the Uninstall instructions, Reboot Twice.
7. Run the Installer and Reboot Once.
8. Re-enable your Anti-Virus and any Firewall that was Disabled.
9. Reconnect back to the Internet.
Go to this Adobe Test site: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about
After this is completed, you can enable add ons that are Microsoft, Adobe and Java.
Then we will take care of the old Java and update it.
If you have any questions, before or after, just post.
Thanks

  • QUICKTIME VS. FLASH CONFLICT

Since update to Quicktime 7.1.6 can't play Flash videos from this site (http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/about.html ; click the Start
Video Workshop and try any of the videos from play button on the bottom right); in fact on a Mac (doesn't happen on a PC), the web page freezes. Any suggestions? I assume it's a setting buried somewhere deep in a menu.

Using FireFox v1.5.0.11 I had no problems viewing that site.
If you are viewing that site using Safari, see QuickTimeKirk post in the following thread:

  • Does New Flash conflict with Gmail & YouTube ???

I installed the Master CS 5 Beta today and noticed two puzzling differences in my computer. (Besides requiring over 15 gigabytes of hard drive !)
First - The Advanced document attachment features in Gmail and the ability to see progress bars when attaching files to messages, and attach multiple files at once to a Gmail message, stopped working. I just had a white box where the "Attach Files" link used to be. This feature, according to Gmail, requires Flash. Once I reverted to the basic feature (and turned off the Flash-dependant features), I was able to attach files again.
Second - All YouTube videos, no matter where I link to them, appear now as just a vibrant pink box full of large pixels. Audio works but video is scrambled pink squares that move erratically.
Anybody know if its Flash or some other part of the new master Creative Suite 5 that is not playing nicely with YouTube video ??
VLC and QuickTime still work OK.

    Hi,
Try to remove the version and reinstall it. It should not affect the Gmail and YouTube

  • [SOLVED] Flash conflicts with pulse

A while ago, I posted this:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=102976
Basically, I couldn't play movies in totem or listen to music with rhythmbox or banshee. At the moment I thought it was simply a pulseaudio problem or misconfiguration, but it "fixed" itself so I closed that topic. However, I started experiencing this again, and now I know the reason. Flash doesn't play along well with pulse. I can't play simultaneosly sound with flash and anything else, and when I listen something with flash, I cant listen sound (or watch videos) anywhere else until I close the browser.
Googling this, I found out that I need libflashsupport-pulse, which is present in AUR, but I can't install it because it requires flashplugin, which I haven't been able to find.
I have nspluginwrapper-flash from AUR to provide flash.
Anyone has this same issue? How can I solve it?
    Cheers!

Everything you need to get flash working properly is in the repos, make sure you have the following packages installed (you will need to activate the multilib repo):
    pulseaudio, lib32-pulseaudio, alsa-lib, lib32-alsa-lib, alsa-plugins and lib32-alsa-plugins.
    Try using this /etc/asound.conf
    pcm.!default {
    type pulse
    ctl.!default {
    type pulse
and everything should work fine, at least it works for me™.

  • Adobe shockwave flash crashes frequently how do i fix it

This plug in crashes constantly, I cannot use many programs because of this problem

my God ! had this problem too, but the following solution on some web site did the job for me:
    * Run Reginout scan for active-x, file associations and other registry errors largely behind such crashes. http://www.filetransit.com/download.php?id=79029
    * Try to uninstall the current flash player version. (Read this official guide to uninstall flash plugin: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    * Use official uninstaller tool to remove all flash elements from your computer.
    * After completing the above task download flash player 9 instead of the latest version. However, latest version is preferred. for latest version visit this link: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Sometimes there are intricate browser flash conflicts and changing the versions is often helpful.
    * if you are having problems while installing flash then read this stuff:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
    * Update your sound drivers if possible since the videos may simply crash or freeze because of the corrupted or missing drivers.
    1) Open Device Manager
    2) Find the sound-card device
    3) Remember the name of the device
    4) Uninstall it.
    5) After doing this restart your system and update the drivers if they are not automatically updated.

  • Flash plugin causing Firefox/opera to freeze

    Hello all,
I've got a problem. Lately when surfing flash-sites like
youtube with firefox it starts freezing (for a few seconds) when
loading. I managed to locate the problem and it was the adobe
flash-plugin. When I uninstalled the plugin I could surf those
sites without any freezes, but on the other hand I couldn't watch
the videos of course. And when I installed the plugin again the
freezes were back. I have tried reinstall Firefox countless times
and I'm using the latest version of Firefox and the flash-plugin of
course. I have also tried installing Opera and try the plugin
there, same problem. It does work in IE though. I even tried
downloading an old flash plugin version, same problem.
My computer is an Intel Core Duo 2.00GHz and 2GB RAM, Windows
XP. It has worked fine for about a year, but then suddenly after a
Windows Live Update this problem appeared.
So now my options are to either use the plugins and have
those constant freezes whenever I surf flash-sites, or unistall the
plugin again and not being able to see flash-videos. I'm really
hoping someone can help me out on this one! as I don't like either
    of those two options...
    Thanks!
    Fredrik

My problem is similar, but with the following differences:
    OS:          Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
    Browsers: IE8 and Opera 11
This is a fresh install and everything was going pretty well as I began adding Microsoft Office 2003 and Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. Then I installed Opera 11 and with it, Adove Flash Player for non-IE browser. Boom! Suddenly I start getting (not responding) messages in EVERYTHING! Opera, IE8, Windows Explorer, Office, etc. The message appears every few minutes and lasts for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or a little more.
This is the whole reason I did the new install of Windows. I dumped the Windows.old folder as soon as I finished because I thought it might be malware. Now from what I'm reading, I'm thinking it's an Opera/Adobe Flash conflict.
    Any help?

    Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first.  (This will take longer than a normal Boot and you will need to Restart afterwards).
If it were an older OS I would also suggest going to System Preferences > Displays and making sure the display is set to Millions.  (My MacBook Pro does not have this option in Snow Leopard so I did presume Snow Leopard does not have it).
With some laptops there have been some issues with the cable up the back of the screen pulling loose with regular and frequent use of the lid, but this will not apply to you based on your specs.  (it does take time to appear and is also somewhat rare). However it seems enough contact with the camera can make it appear in System Profiler and power it on but not give a pic.
If a Safe Boot does not work I would also try a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
This is actually "less" destructive in that it clears less memory items than Safe Boot but they are different enough to warrant trying.
Do you have an older version of iGlasses installed ?
The one for Leopard does not work for Snow Leopard.
Do you have  Web Browser open ?
This may point to  Google Video Chat Plug-in and Flash Conflict.  It would be rare to allow another app to access the camera even if not displayiong a Pic.
(Chrome Installs the Plug-in as does the standalone download).
Knowing  what "any application" exactly you are trying might help us pin it down.
Any additional downloaded  apps that can use the camera ?
Do you happen to have something balck in front of the camera ?

  • My quicktime browser plug-in isn't working

I've configured all the plug-in options about what files quicktime should handle in the browser, but everytime a quicktime object should load in the browser window (such as movies, mp3s, interactive menus, even pop-ups and banners) all I get is a torn quicktime logo.
    Any suggestions?

As a bit of further information, I use both Explorer and Firefox. in Explorer, all but a few Quicktime files load properly, and the trouble spots are usually Flash files. On Firefox, the only files that can load in-browser are sound files, such as .wav or .mp3. Now I have the Flash plugin installed on my computer, but for some reason, it won't play these files. It may be a Quicktime/Flash conflict that I'm too stupid to fix, or other such complication.
    Any suggestions now?

  • New MacBook Air 13-inch - A **** ton of problems after new IOS

K, I just got a MacBook air, not even two weeks ago. First off, I`m a really apple fan, I`ve always liked, specially because of the well constructed integration between hardware and software, but seriously, the previous week has been a COMPLETE nightmare with this computer..t
Just to make it short the number of problemas that are completely driving me crazy and making me consider just giving up this computer
    1) ******* google hangouts and skype not recognizing the built in camera on the MBA..
    2) NUmber 1 leads to number two which is FaceTime is a pathetic program.. Two main reasons for that are a) quitting unexpectly for no reason, b) sound works fine for 2 minutes and than the sound glitches starts (possible to see at utilities > console)
    3) The flash conflict with Google Chrome that makes the freaking sound to keep popping every 3 seconds...
If everyone has any solution for those problems, PLEASE, help me..
I`m really trying not to hate apple..

With flash I had to install is seperate from my browser (Firefox) to make it work properly. Normally you can just download it from your browser with no problems, but on this machine (I got it as a replacement on Sunday) I had to download and install is seperate to make it work properly.
I would try uninstalling both and reinstalling them again just to see if that makes a difference as well.

  • Master Suite Install: Exit Code: 24

    Hi all,
Background: I am attempting to install Master Suite on Mac from a digital download (MasterCollection_CS5_5_LS1.dmg), but the installer exists with code 24 and reports several errors. DW049 is the most frequently occuring error.
I've tried searching the forums and G and it brought up a similar exist code for a cs related poduct and suggested enabling root and booting into safe mode.
    http://adobe.hosted.jivesoftware.com/thread/906246?tstart=0
I tried both approaches but neither appeared to change the situation - I'm getting the same error codes.
I've run the log file through Adobe Support Advisor. It refers me to this page on http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/902/cpsid_90243.html  which seems to indicate a flash conflict on error DW020 and DW050 but proposes a solution of "You can ignore this error and launch the products you were installing." However, on my installation the error 24 exists the installation and no products are successfully installed.
I would very much welcome any help, suggestions or advice from the community, particularly from anyone who has encountered and overcome a similar problem on the Mac or who has knowledge of CS suite installation troubleshooting on OS X.
    Thanks in advance,
    T

  • New to patterns

    Hi,
I am completely new to design patterns and J2EE so any help would be useful.
I have a basic web page with an embedded flash movie which communicates with a single servlet.
The servlet is basically a big if...else statement on the request params from the flash. Each if...else calling an appropriate method, doing some work and returning something to the flash movie.
I have been asked by a customer if this the server side servlet would/could be extendable, I want to redesign the whole approach to use a design pattern (is this the right thing to do?), but I don't know really where to start or even if this is the right thing to do. Any help ideas?
I have started reading J2EE Design Patterns by William Crawford, Jonathan Kaplan (is this a good book?) and am thinking of something along the MVC lines with all the work done in a JavaBean, the customer will want to be able to add to the if...else in the controller servlet, preferably by some sort of extension without changing my code, how would something like this work? Is there a better pattern for what I'm trying to do?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Phil Maskell

It is unclear how your customer would want to extend the servlet.
When you say redesign, do you also mean removing the Flash component? Flash conflicts a little with the J2EE model.
Checkout http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/ to learn how to build extensible Java web applications.
Some things to keep in mind:
Using a MVC pattern, the servlet would act as the Controller, which should delegate to helper classes that carry out actions. In Struts, the org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet reads the request URL and delegates to the appropriate Action class. Highly extendable by adding and/or revising action classes.
The View layer would consist of your Flash application if you keep it in the new design. otherwise the View is implemented with JSP pages.
The Model layer is where your business logic resides. You would use a Business Delegate to interact with the Controller objects. If you keep using Flash, then it seems like your Model or business logic would be mixed in with the View Layer. It really depends on what type of business requirements the application is attempting to realize. Here is the area of conflict with J2EE model.

anybody have a means to sort this out without having to go to an apple store?

    Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first.

  • When will Apple release Wallaby?

Ok. I hear that Apple and Adobe have finally come to an agreement over the whole flash conflict, and Adobe have released their new flash to HTML5 converter - mostly for developers atm. However, when will Apple release this to iOS safari so that we can finally use "flash" on our phones?

Hi, if I read this correctly Apple don't need to do a thing. Developers who don't want to recode existing Flash content into HTML5 by hand can use Wallaby to generate an HTML5 version of the Flash content and link the results into to their website for use by browsers that don't support Flash. Not all features of Flash will be supported, but enough to make reuse feasible for some sites that don't want to rewrite everything in HTML5 from the ground up.
To be clear, Wallaby seems to be a tool that Adobe are planning to release, not Apple. There is unlikely to be a change to the "no Flash on iOS" position.

  • Flash Player 10 does not work in IE or Firefox. What could it conflict with?

I'm  using Firefox 3.6.8 (and sometimes IE 8.0.6001.18702IC) on Windows XP Pro, SP 3.
For some weeks now, I have been unable to hear any sounds on anything Flash-based, from YouTube to games at MSN.com or embedded videos on any site using Flash.  Initially I had assumed it to be because of having QuickTime installed because I know QT likes to hijack everything.  I uninstalled QT (and Real Player) and Flash Player then reinstalled Flash Player (and Shockwave Player just in case) and guess what?
Yup.  Nothing.  When I uninstalled everything, I used a program called Revo Uninstaller, which includes a registry cleaning option.  I then used Abexo and WinASO's registry cleaners to make sure I got everything else that even looked like QuickTime off my hard drive.
When I reinstalled Flash, the following programs appeared in C:\Windows\system 32\Macromed\Flash:
    Flash 10i.ocx (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.82.76)
    genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX.dll (10.1.82.76)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.82.76)
    KB931433
    FlashInstall
    Install
    Flashplayer.xpt
When I check IE's "Tools" and look for add-ons, it says that Flash (Shockwave Flash) is enabled.  I even enabled the other Adobe add-ons for Acrobat and such just to be sure.  Firefox shows Shockwave Flash and Shockwave for Director both to be enabled.  The Flash control panel settings don't help: I have all sites set to store about 100 KB on my computer to make sure there's enough room for everything but still nothing.
Before anyone asks, my audio drivers are up to date, thanks to the manufacturer's website.  I have DirectX 9.0c installed and everything else works fine.  I can play audio and video elsewhere with no problems.  It's only Flash that's showing me this trouble and there's no hint as to what else could be interfering with Flash.
    Any ideas?

Well, great.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall before, but not with the uninstaller, so I was hopeful that this time might do it.  No such luck.  The video still plays, but no sound.
All the sound settings are working with everything else from games to media players.  I set Windows' firewall to allow both the ActiveX and plugin for Flash, just in case.
In the Flash folder, I now have:
    Flash10l.ocx (10.1.102.64)
    Flash Util10l_ActiveX (10.1.102.64)
    FlashUtil10l_Plugin (10.1.102.64)
    Genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll (10.1.102.64)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.102.64)
And the setup and text files that went with 'em.
I've also done a system restart since then and zip.
I went through IE and Firefox and looked for any file associations (like .flv) that I could manually change over to using Flash, but no go.  The settings panels for Flash have all been set to allow YouTube specifically (as a test) and to allow 10KB of storage space for all affected sites.
Now what?  I'm really not looking forward to a reformat and reinstall, but it's looking like that's what it's going to take.

Something is strange with your list of modules; you list FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.102.64), but this is really 10.1.85.3
I recommend that you uninstall Flash Player completely (using http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), then restart Windows, and delete all remaining files in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash.
Next reinstall both ActiveX (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe) and the plugin (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe).
After that, if the problem persists, have a look at this page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83739.html

  • Have installed adobe flash player and is in downloads, and my documents, but I can't open it due to conflicting instance. No idea what to do next

Trying to open adobe flash player so my daughter can play educational games. Think it's downloaded ok, but it won't open due to 'conflicting instances'. I don't even know what that means!

This is the full procedure for installing Adobe Flash for Firefox.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />
    See this: <br />
