Flash crashed continued to crash so I uninstall only to not be able to reinstall

Hey there yesterday i began to get problems with flash after installing Java although the two didn't seem to affect each other it may of just been coincidence, also i don't know if it has anything to do with it but just before the problems started occurring my google mail told me someone from china had tried to log in to my account. Anyway so i was getting the usual flash player has crashed send crash report thing so i tried to update flash but when i tried to run the .exe nothing happened so i ran as administrator i got asked to allow for adobe to make changes on the hard drive as usual but then nothing. So after more research i found i should try flash 10.3 i think so i did and still the .exe doesn't run it asks to make changes as if it is going to but doesn't. Any help on this would be much appreciated as i am close to uninstalling and reinstalling all browsers but i can't see that helping as it is the .exe not running. A few extra details google chrome just won't load pages full stop this also started yesterday and i have norton 360 antivirus so i would of thought i would be nicely protected. Oh well Thanks in advance for any reply Jake

Just to add i am trying to run a full scan with norton and it is sitting there saying it has so far scanned 0 files

First, I installed iTunes with Quicktime. Can I only uninstall Quicktime and not uninstall iTunes. If not, how can I back up my songs and videos on iTunes and put them back?

QuickTime is required for itunes to run.
are you having a problem with your QuickTime and/or itunes, Yoloni? could you describe your symptoms, please?

  • I recently updated to the new adobe flash 10.3.181.26 and since then I have not been able to listen to any videos online especially youtube videos. Though I can still see the videos I can't hear them.

I've tried multiple times checking the settings with flash and I've checked and unchecked "hardware acceleration" and I've cleared my cache and cookies multiple of times. I've uninstalled and reinstalled flash many times to but still I have this issue. My computer alone plays music just fine only through flash videos do I have a problem

Hi X-Calibar, thanks for your comments. Yes, there are 4 zones under Internet Options and security settings. IE9 from what I have read has more security features than IE7/IE8 had. It appears this Server verification involves status of the Certificate that the website has as well as the Server that is using it. From what I've read on the IE9 sites, Microsoft states that if any HTTP sites are in the Trusted Zone, that the Server Verification is to be UNchecked.
When you go to add a site to the Trusted Sites zone, it by default only accepts HTTPS sites.
I would think that would only be if you had the SV box checked, that's what I find with IE8.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Search?q=what+is+server+verification+in+IE&prd =Windows7
I think you and I may be saying the same thing, just in a different way:-) Not using IE9, I don't know how all of the new features work. My concern is mainly limited to any feature that conflicts or effects Flash Player. Just as the ActiveX Filtering. That certainly effects Flash Player, so that is on my radar:-)
Hopefully, Chris Campbell will clarify some of this:-)
    Thanks,

  • Flash crash Runaround

I was told by Adobe there wasn’t any help for
“free” (Flash Player) products. Explaining that my
company was a paid user of other Adobe products i.e. Dreamweaver,
got me transferred to Tech Support who claimed there weren’t
any known Flash crash issues and I was then directed to the basic
    Self-Help FAQ web page…
Each FP uninstall, restart, reinstall, then redial and remain
on hold with Adobe resulted in the same response: “it’s
not a Flash problem – it must be a problem with your
computer”. The last tech support guy, just before he closed
my case #, recommended I switch from Internet Explorer to FireFox
    as the solution.
My XP desktop and Vista laptop have the same issue: open a
web page in IE7 that contains an embedded Flash video and IE
crashes. This forum and more than 600K Google hits for “flash
crash ie7” should indicate this is NOT an isolated issue nor
just a “problem with my computer”.
Adobe should get real and quit with the “try this and
try that” wasting of people’s time and fix this
problem. Getting a case number to be told to switch to FireFox is
    not a solution.

  • Windows 7 upgrade advisor, from Vista, says that Firefox must be uninstalled before upgrading and that I won't be able to reinstall it, is this true?

I am currently running Vista, 32-bit. I am considering upgrading to Windows 7. I ran the Upgrade Advisor Report and it says "Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 Must be uninstalled before upgrading to Windows 7. You will not be able to reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 7." This appears to be inaccurate info, based on the Firefox website, but I want to verify what I should do before beginning the upgrade. Leave Firefox installed and in place when I upgrade, or uninstall and then re-install after the upgrade?

hello herplaw, you're right, this doesn't sound right - firefox will run fine on windows 7. i'd leave it installed and go ahead with the update. in any case (if you'd have to reinstall it later) you could also back-up the personal information that is stored in your firefox profile before you proceed: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]

  • Due to customer being supported, must use FF 3.6.18 and today it has gone into continual hang/crash modes. Uninstall/reinstall = still crashes.

Last few weeks, FF has been intermittently hanging. Now after continual crasheds, finally uninstalled and resintalled and it either immediately crashes or hangs with most (but not all) URLs. Google/Yahoo OK, CNN comes up, then usually hangs (sometimes immediately closes browser with error msg (see below).

What posted was not the crash report, but that is the extra information about your Firefox setup that Firefox sends to the Mozilla server as part of the crash data.

  • Installed and verifed but Flash Player continues to crash in Firefox.  Any suggestions

Flash Player sometime activates and then crashes after a few seconds.

Thanks for responding Chris.  Flash Player consistently crashes no matter what site I am in.  I've tried all of the suggested fixes in Flash Player help and nothing has been successful. The computer confirms that I have downloaded the most recent file but Adobe Flash Player doesn't show in the Firfox Add Ons.  I also tried Firefox flash player suggestions but none worked.  It crashes no matter what page I am on.  If flash player is required, it crashes.  It also crashes in Internet Explorer.  I am a novice so please bear with me.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

created by chris.campbell in Using Flash Player - View the full discussionHello,I'm sorry you're encountering these problems.  I'll try what I can to help. 1. Have you tried any browser other than Firefox?  It would be helpful to know if these same types of crashes occur with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.2. Did this crashing behavior just start occurring?  If so, was there a particular update or event that preceded the crashing?3. Does the crashing happen consistently?  Ie. If you go to the same web page that contains Flash content, does it crash every time you visit?  Does it crash when you visit this page?  Flash Player Help  What pages does it crash on?4. Can you visit about:crashes within Firefox and submit some of the most recent crashes.  Once submitted, please post back with the crash URL's.4. Can you try resetting your Firefox profile?  Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
Firefox Help5. Finally, can you try temporarily disabling protected mode to see if that makes a difference (this will be the last step in the faq)?  How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox? Thanks,

  • Adobe Flash crashes, continually causes Firefox 13.0.1 to crash

Firefox continually crashes (approx. 6-8 times a day or more) due to Adobe Flash player crashing.
I'm running Firefox 13.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11.3.300.262
I noticed that since the second-to-last update of Flash Firefox has been crashing a lot. Before that Firefox crashed 'only' once a day or so.
Over the past few months I've read just about every thread related to Flash & Firefox and I'm not about to spend hours troubleshooting stuff, trying to disable hardware acceleration, etc, etc. I've done that before when the Flash-crash issue started a couple of months ago. (Also, Firefox is sometimes sending you automated crash reports, so you should have that data.) I would expect Firefox to simply "work" reasonably well, and as of the past couple of months or so, it hasn't.
W.T.F, Mozilla? I've used your browsers (Netscape) since the early 90s and have been quite happy - until recently, that is. As of now I'm having to go back to using Internet Explorer.
I sincerely hope Mozilla can finally resolve this issue as I still believe Firefox could be a great browser if it didn't "fight" with Flash all the time.

whatev, For issues using full-screen mode, turn off hardware acceleration in your [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player display settings]:
#Right-click on any Flash video or animation (or on the Flash logo on [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues this Adobe help page]).
#Click "Settings" and uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration" in the Display tab.
This isn't the best workaround since the setting may not hold, for example, if you clear all cookies in Firefox or with an extension such as BetterPrivacy. Updating your display driver would be the best solution,

  • Flash Player continually crashing.

When in Firefox trying to read Yahoo Flash crashes within a few seconds. Reset page, crashes again within a few seconds. Go to another page, crashes within a few seconds. Have to go through a "close" selection process each time. Vista home occurence report says " ShimEng.dll_unloaded" as cause. How to fix? Where is  this dll available, where to load it? No luck so far with Adobe advice. Fresh reload of Flash Player still crashes. Yahoo videos cannot be viewed, etc. Am an elderly dummy with PC's. need help in basic plain language please.
I suspect that the trouble initiated by trouble makers trying to load a bad Trojan by offering to "update Windows Drivers???" . Luckily Kaspersky stopped them. Any help very much appreciated. Roy.

Unfortunately, this isn't a Flash Player crash.  It's crashing down in the guts of your operating system.
When I see operating system files start getting corrupted on my own computer, I usually operate on the assumption that either my hard disk is on it's way out, or I have a malware infection.  Since you're talking about Trojans, I'm thinking there's a good chance that you're in the second camp.  If it's been a while since you've backed up your important data, I'd make that your first priority.  I wouldn't bother backing up the operating system and applications, but all of your photos and documents, etc.  USB memory sticks can also be infected with malware at the hardware level and can re-infect your computers, so I'd go with an external hard disk or something.
Once you've got your stuff backed up, I'd spend an evening reinstalling the operating system.  You haven't mentioned it specifically, but I'm thinking that you'e on Windows Vista.   If you're taking the time to reinstall the OS, I'd recommend thinking seriously about upgrading to Windows 7 as part of that process.  The Win7 upgrade is less than $100 on Amazon.  The vast majority of Windows users are on Win7 at this point (Vista is < 10% last time I checked), so much more effort goes into making sure that software works well on Win7.

  • Flash Crashes 95% of the  Time in Both Safari and Firefox

I am using the latest Flash Player (10.0.42.34) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with all the updates. It crashes on most videos, but not all. It does not seem to crash on YouTube videos, but it crashes on most other videos from everywhere.
I’ve removed all user installed fonts as that seemed to be the fix in other threads. It still crashes.
I’ve repaired disk permissions. It still crashes.
I’ve tried to run Safari in 32-bin mode. It still crashes. It’s not a Safari issue since Firefox crashes too.
I’ve tried to uninstall it using the official uninstaller and reinstall it. It still crashes.
Flash Player 10.1.51.66 (beta from Adobe Labs) does not crash, but it exacerbates a more annoying problem ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2269429&tstart=0 ); so, until Apple releases updated video drivers or downgrades them to the Leopard ones, I can’t use it.
I am using a case-sensitive file system. No, I will not change it to satisfy pathetic coding and neglect on Adobe’s part, but that also does not seem to be the case since it’s not complaining that it can’t load libraries since it can’t find them.
I thank you for your help.

~Bee : I think that's the report you get with 10.6.x if a plugin causes a crash - they isolated the plugins from the application so it wouldn't bring the app down with it, instead, it just crashes WebKitPluginHost or agent & one can continue browsing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.
Spooky - would http://rentzsch.github.com/clicktoflash/ do what your scripting aims to?
Re the crash - seen at least one very similar, that was fixed with a full reinstall - but hmm.
I'd try removing the plugins manually, then extracting new ones from the adobe installer thing using UnPkg or Pacifist & placing them in the plugins folder yourself, then repairing permissions, just in case.
Do the crashes persist in a different user account?

  • Flash Crashes on startup

I just downloaded and installed the Flash CS4 trial off of the adobe website. Installation worked perfectly just like all other adobe products but when I try and start Flash it crashes on me before it even starts. It hangs up on initializing fonts most of the time but that is not 100% of the time. I used font agent pro to look at all my fonts and find all corrupt fonts, after this I deleted all corrupt fonts and continued to get the same error so then I deleted all fonts that did not come with windows so right now I am left with about 100 fonts that I know work as I have tested them all on word. No other adobe product fails to load on me including: Photoshop Indesign Premiere Soundbooth Dreamweaver Illustrator.... etc. please help! I have been looking through different forums and all of the web for the past 5 hours straight and have never not been able to fix something like this.
FYI I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash serveral times even from different unofficial sources and I continue to get the same error.
    HELP ANYBODY

sounds like a corrupt font - please be more specific when
posting about flash crashing - you never
mention what platform/OS system specs you are on.
Sound like a Mac though and I suspect a corrupt font or 2 or

  • Flash crashing after 5 seconds of use

I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same
problem with flash that I have. For me Flash can't even stay open
for 5 seconds without it completely crashing and having to restart.
No one else seems to be talking about it so I am thinking it might
just happening with me. Anyways it would be nice to know what other
    people are experiencing.

I have had a very similar problem. I had flash cs3 working for almost a year, then out of nowhere it started crashing on me as soon as I selected start new actionscript 2 file, it continued to crash after I uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times. So i thought I would try the flash cs4 trial version, no good it still crashed as soon as I move my mouse. I wonder if it is some microsoft update that changed something. I only think that because I was able to convert word docs to pdf right from word, until there was an update from microsoft that disabled the option. I had to research and figure out how to re-enble it. Maybe there is an update that is causing the crashes?

  • Flash crashing every few minutes

I'm working on Flash MX 2004 Pro. and every few minutes the
program crashs, most of the time after
    publishing SWF movie.
You can see the error popup here:

    Help!

    Thank you for your comments.
It takes three hands to hold ctl-alt-del on my keyboard while clicking to start Flash.  Worse, no matter how I tried, there was no response from Flash. The system would always start the task manager. No dialog box appeared at any time during multiple attempts.
The CC cleaner would do nothing if I uninstalled the Adobe programs before running it, as directed.  Even after restoring the CS6 bundle and running CC Cleaner, and then re-installing as the CC Cleaner directs left conflicts that caused Flash to continue to crash
I finally gave up and performed the only technique that has reliably worked since IBM in 1981 made the error of involving Bill Gates and the resulting Microsoft excuses for an operating system.  I wiped my drive; reinstalled Windows 7 and all my other programs.  This half-day process has solved the problem for now.  Of course it is only a matter of time before windows accumulates another load of crap and my programs again begin to crash.
If my College of Business had not standardized on Microsoft products, I would happily be banging away on my Mac.

  • I installed firefox beta 5 and flash crashed on every page so i reverted back to firefox 4 and now flash crashes on every page of firefox 4. how can i fix it?

Ever since i installed firefox 5 beta and the new version of flash, flash crashes on every page with flash on it no matter what version of firefox i run, and flash wont let me roll back to another version. I need flash for my work which is due by the end of the day so any help yall can offer is appreciated.

well i fixed this for a bit by reinstalling ff4 and restarting but now the firefox 4 that i re-downloaded continues to very aggressively update itself to 5 beta without asking me. it just notifies me once its done it telling me to restart and once i close firefox, boom. flash crashes every minute or so and freezes my computer. I love firefox. i have used it for years. but if no one can help with this problem or at least tell me how to stop firefox 4 from updating to firefox beta 5 im gonna go download something else because im losing money fighting with firefox to get my work done which is now taking 10 times longer to complete. i really want to keep using firefox but this is kinda ridiculous guys... I understand that betas have bugs but dont make me use it without asking me first...
