Flash CS3 install problem

I have had the creative suite 3 for a while but prior to that I installed a demo of flash CS3. I have never really needed flash up until now so though I would install it properly from my install disc but it won't let me.
It keeps saying flash 3 and flash video encoder already installed, probably because of the demo which lapsed yonks ago. I have tried inputting the serial number from the back of the dvd case but it won't recognise it and can't get past the trial expired window. All my other cs3 apps that I use are fine. I have tried the adobe uninstaller in utilities but it keeps giving an error, I have also deactivated as well but still no luck.
Is there a particular file I can delete to reset the trial thingy to then input my serial number again or how can I delete everything flash and start again from the installer?
It's driving me mad, at this rate I'll have to look at alternative apps.

Hi, thanks for the reply, wasn't quite as simple as that as I did try this numerous times.
The reason behind it is in fact an error that adobe introduced when beta testing and releasing the trial versions, apparantly CS3 is notourious for these errors.
The only way round it is to download CS3 clean from the downloads section and run it in terminal. Following the instructions it does an entire cleanup and deletion of any CS3 software allowing for a clean install afterwards.
Worked like a charm.
Thanks any way.

  • Flash CS3 Install Problems!

    Hello all,
I recently downloaded Flash CS3 Trial from the Adobe website.
Once downloaded I extract the files from the EXE file. Then I go
into the extracted files and select setup.exe. I give the program
permission to run in Vista (as prompted) and the Flash Setup window
    displays...
The problem is the Setup window displays for a brief second
or two before dissapearing without a trace!! No error message etc.
    It just dissapears...
I am running Windows Vista. Why is this happening? It is most
annoying!! I cant even install the product!!
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!! :-)

Funny enough, I got the same error when I tried to download
    and install the
trial version. Best advice I can give is to contact support.

  • Why won't Flash CS3 install on my MacPro?

I've done three clean installs of CS3. Lots of crashing problems with FW CS4 and Bridge CS4, so I thought a fresh start would be helpful. Wrong. I'm NOT on Snow Leopard. MacPro, Intel, 4 gigs RAM. I did have Fireworks CS4 on my Mac, but it's all uninstalled. When I try to install the entire CS3 suite, Flash will not install. When I try to install Flash all by itself, it keeps asking for the Fireworks install CD, over and over, even though FW has been uninstalled. Then, ultimately, Flash doesn't install.
I tried to run the CS3 cleanup script, but the terminal won't take my password. I ran the CS4 cleanup script after I uninstalled FW, but it said there was nothing to clean up.
Please, can anyone help? I've spent SEVERAL hours on this. Even repaired permissions. I want to scream.

    I had a scratched disk.
I did two things: I bought a disk repair contraption at Best Buy. Worked awesomely. Then I copied the file onto my hard drive and ran it from there.
This was NOT a seamless process, and I can't even remember everything I did to make it work (oh, and I had copied and pasted Fireworks CS4 to my desktop from my install CD, too, because it stopped recognizing my brand new license, and Flash CS3 required this FW CS4 file to be in the same location from which I installed it in order to make Flash CS3 install), but I FINALLY got it to work, after working on it for 6 hours, going to bed at 3am, getting up at 7:30am, and working on it for another 11 hours, including two phone calls for a total of two hours to Adobe's stellar support in Pah-kee-stahn, wherein I was given the wrong information from 3 technicians who, granted, *really* tried to help, but who couldn't even agree with each other on the fix - "Customer service will give you a link to stand-alone versions of Acrobat 8 and Flash CS3 that you can activate with your serial number," "No we can't. We'll have to send you a link to the whole suite." Except the link to the download wouldn't work when they checked it on their end, so they couldn't send it to me, and they would have someone call me back in 24-48 hours, then 2-3 hours (after I pitched a fit because I have to work - no work, no pay) - they didn't call me back. It's been over 24 hours, it's been over 2-3 hours.
And even so, it won't reinstall Acrobat because it says it's already been installed, even though I can't find it anywhere on my system - not in my applications folder, not in my emptied trash, not my various folders in the user library, not in the root library, not in the system library - nowhere. But it's there. In a ghost area of my system, apparently. So I had to buy Acrobat 9 just so I could work. Academic Superstore. Academic discount - NEVER stop learning! Even if you're 51.
I feel incredibly hostile toward Adobe. But their software is my bread-and-butter. I use almost all of it on a daily basis. It's going to be a long, long time before I trust Adobe with my money. CS4 Master Collection, that I was salivating over, that I was planning to save up for? I don't think so. CS5? Unlikely, until I have no other choice.
I would rather wait longer and get software that doesn't eat into my productivity with bugs and crashes.
That's okay. I've been venting away about this on Twitter and Facebook and LinkedIn and a web development group I'm on. I can warn others. Funny thing is, I'm getting so many responses from people going through nightmares of their own with CS4. Only a handful of people respond with, "I don't know what you're talking about! My CS4 has run flawlessly!" Only a handful. So sad.

  • Trouble with Flash CS3 install

Where do I begin with something this weird? I'm on a Windows
XP laptop. I meet the minimum requirements. I downloaded the trail
version of Flash Professional CS3 today. I ran the executable,
which extracted files onto my Desktop. I went into the Adobe CS3
folder it put on my laptop and ran Setup.exe. It seemed to run just
fine, though I wasn't paying close attention to the process. When I
got the done screen, I didn't even look to see if everything had
properly installed; I just assumed it did.
Now while all this was happening, I was browsing the
internet. I'm both careful and paranoid, so I use Mozilla Foxfire
with adblocking, etc. I went to a site I thought I could trust and
something attempted to install a file on my computer, which Firefox
appropriately asked me if I wanted. I said no, but it gave me a bad
feeling (esp. since I never get popups like that anymore), so once
Flash was done installing, I decided to use System Restore to back
up to the day before, just to play it safe.
After running system restore, of course my install of Adobe
Flash was gone (which I expected) so I went ahead and ran the
install file again. This time I wasn't doing anything else, so I
paid attention to the process. The install file ran fine, but when
it got to the part where it asked me which components I wanted to
install, the only component listed was the Flash Player 9 (the
actual Flash Professional program was not listed as an option I
could choose). Still, I checked the Player 9 and continued to see
what would happen. It went to a screen that listed components it
was ready to install, which *included* Flash Professional CS3. So I
clicked okay, it did its thing, and when it finished it said it had
succesfully installed Flash Player 9 but there had been an Error
installing Flash Pro. Indeed, Flash Pro was not on my computer.
Thinking the download might be corrupt, I uninstalled Flash
Player 9 and deleted the file I'd downloaded. I went back to the
Adobe site and downloaded the Flash CS3 trial again. I went through
the same process, with the same results. No Flash Pro, only Flash
    Player. I am baffled.

i had the same problem and after countless hours i just
    downloaded flash pro 8
    its so great
you could just download version 8
    sorry its not much help

  • Flash CS3, Having Problems Creating Button Animation

I am relatively new to Flash CS3, and don't use action script... I am creating an animation with sound using the button graphic option so it is a clickable button. I have the animation finished, and the sound embeded, and everything is working great, except when I publish it, I have to click and hold over the graphic for the animation to happen... If I click and release, the animation and sound clips stop... What am I doing wrong and how on Earth can I fix it??? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!!

Yup, that is how it works. You can't control which state a button is in. So when you click on it, it will go to the down state and when you let go it will go back to over (or up if you release outside).
Not sure exactly what the "fix" is. It depends upon what you are trying to do. Generally you would need to use MovieClips instead of buttons with event handlers to tell you "button" what to do. Very few people I know actually use buttons.

  • Please Help: Flash Express Install Problem

    Hello,
I am having a bit of trouble getting Flash Express Install to
work correctly with my Flash Detection kit. Basically, I have
    followed the steps in [URL="
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/fp8_detection.html"
Hoekman, Jr.'s article[/URL], but when I test the Express Install,
    I get the following errors:
    (1) When I test it out with all my files on the server, the
browser crashes and the upgrade fails.
    (2) When I test it locally on my Mac OSX hard drive, I am
prompted to quit my browser in order to perform the upgrade. It
should allow me to keep the browser open and load my SWF once
    updated:
"Express Install... prompts users to upgrade to Flash Player 8
if they do not have it already and, when installation is complete,
returns the user back to the page that started the process."
Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

  • Flash Player Install Problem

Hi, I have had a terrible time trying to install Flash Player.  I used to have it but recently lost it and can not install it anymore.  I get a Failed to Register error message about halfway through the install.  I am running IE11, McAfee Virus software and have purchased and ran RegCure Pro.  My active x is turned off and I tried to install with a new admin account.  Nothing has worked.  My virus software has only quarantined one potentially unwanted program - Generic Pup .a    I think the quarantine happened around the same time but it may not be even related.  I have a 2.7 GHz processor and Windows 7.  Any suggestions on how I can reload Flash Player?  It used to work and update all the time.  Thank you

If you installed the legitimate Flash Player activeX control
    installer from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
then no, we wouldn't be looking for Compuserve.
Now, I have seen one or two sites spoofing the Flash Player
installer for malicious purposes. If it doesn't come from Adobe.com
it's not necessarily safe. But that isn't necessarily the problem
    either.
If at some point Compuserve (which is a very legitimate and
venerable BBS that became a big ISP similar to AOL..) may have been
on your machine and installed some type of dialer application for
dialup connections. Look in add/remove programs to see if you have
any compuserve related entries. If there's nothing there look in
    processes.
If you still don't find anything.. well then I'm not sure
    where to go next.

  • CS3 install problems

    Hi,
I have my original copy of CS3 and have used it daily for 7 years, but now will not open.  It told me to contact Adobe, I contacted Adobe, but they would not help, and said to come to this forum.  I am in a bind, as I had a project to finish today, and it looks like I will be dealing with this problem instead.  I have had a issue similar in the past, but Adobe helped me fix it, but now do not want to fix the flaw in their system.  Guess they want people to pay to upgrade?  Well, I do not need anything other than CS3, nor do I like shelling out thousands for things I do not need.  Anyhow, I am in a bind to get back up and running.  Any help is appreciated.
I am using Creative Suite 3 web premium on Windows Vista 64 bit.
I have been searching on the forums for help, but nothing seems to work.  I have even tried a clean install of a fresh download from the Adobe site, and the problem is worse now.  All it will install is Adobe Acrobat 8 and Shared Components.  I get errors for the other contents, and it will not tell me why they are not installing.  It does ask me to define a path to Adobepdf.dll.  I did find some info. on how to do that, but it still does not work.  My photoshop was working fine yesterday, and has been for years.  Not sure what the problem is, I have not changed anything.
Thanks in advance for any help to resolve this problem.
    Jason

I was online yesterday with TechSupport for about an hour.   It appears that there is an issue with the "host" file which was filled with script from adobe that was causing it not to connect to the internet.
This is on a mac.... not sure on a PC
Click on Finder, then Go Menu on top> Then Go To folder
    Type: /etc    (with the slash)
    Press Enter
You will see a file named Hosts
Copy the hosts file and paste to desktop.
Open the Hosts file which is copied on the Desktop.
Delete all the entries and make it blank.
Now copy and paste exactly this part----  ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface# when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.##127.0.0.1 localhost
Save the file and close it.
Now copy this file from desktop and paste in etc folder. I mean replace the old hosts with the new one from desktop.
First Save the file and close it.
My host file that was filled with a ton of Adobe scripts... once they were gone.  Problem solved. ... for now.   My issue was that the "register later" option was no longer available.
