Flash cs3 or 4 for linux?

i know this subject has come up 80 times before, however
recent news makes me wonder how likely it is that adobe will soon
release flash for Linux,
news bit 1:adobe donated code to the Mozilla foundation
2:with the recent newcomer silverlight not supporting
Linux-browsers, it seems like adobes best move would be to cater to
true universal support and the growing Linux market
3:dells recent Linux endeavour, should be a sign to adobe
that the market for linux is expanding rapidly on the desktop
4:adobe joins open source development labs
it may be wishful thinking on my part but i think adobe is
seriously considering this

Hmmm, perhaps they put a *true* minimum spec, and a recommended spec, because when I tried to install CS3 on a computer with 512MB RAM it wouldn't allow the install to go through.
Glad to hear it worked out for you though!

Is it just me or flash gotten worse and worse since with the releases of the Flash 10 betas and now the RC? Most sites don't recognise that I have flash installed with the latest RC (from archlinux.fr repo) and I can't visit blabbermouth.net anymore (haven't been able to since the stable Flash 9). Under windows flash runs so much better, why does Adobe put a plugin for Linux when it is so buggy and crashy?

I checked blabbermouth.net and Flash is working fine for me. I've seen nothing but memory and performance improvements with Flash with every release. I have yet to find a page that didn't recognize Flash 10, but my Flash usage is fairly limited.
I just figured out that Adblock Plus was causing the crashes so I uninstalled it. Flash 10 RC seems pretty good at the moment.

  • Flash Player 10.1 for Linux Debian 64bits

    Hello
I am a Debian Lenny 64bits user and I trying to install flash player 10.1 or something that can play the flash files in webpages, my web browser is "Iceweasel", the default browser in Debian linux, It's based in Mozilla Firefox code.
I can't configure the flash player, I'm really desesperate.
In the Downloads section of Adobe's website there arent any version for 64bits debian based linux (or I can't found It).
I have searched in forums.adobe.com and other forums but the solutions that I have found don't work or the browser simply crashes.
I tryed to install flash player 10.1 for i386 ubuntu (debian based) architecture with the ia32-libs and the workaround emulation but It didn't work either.
The open source swf players dont play the version 10 files.
Somebody knows how to install adobe flash player 10.1 in a 64bits Debian based system or how can I do to view correctly the flash contents in web pages without installs windows or 32bits linux? (I need this 64bits Debian system for my job)
Why Adobe compiles the 32bits debian package and don't compiles the 64bits? however Adobe compiles native 64bits versions for private operating systems like Microsoft or MacOS. I think that Adobe must be renewed in this topic (or disclose the source code and don't make monopoly).
    PD: sorry for my English

I have an embedded ati x1250 in an asus m2a-vm motherboard, I bought this motherboard because in that moment asus gave full support in 64bits linux debian based systems.
At this moment asus and amd only provides full support for this chipset on 64bits red-hat based linux and de source code produces error dependences in debian linux, I am using the fglrx that provides debian linux but It don't works correctly and the 3D sometimes crashes the x window system.

At the end of Part 1: "Building a banner" tutorail from

    Yeap, as Steve says...
Your best bet, if you really want to run the current trial
    version on
your IntelMac, is to load BootCamp or Parallels and install
    (!) Windows
on your Mac, which will then likely allow you to run
    Authorware in it's

  • Flash CS3 apparently responsible for "runaway" syslogd process on MacOSX 10.5

(A small sample from my asl.db file is pasted at the end of
    this post.)
I've been having a lot of trouble lately with a
"runaway" syslogd process taking up nearly 100% of one of my
processors and taking resources away from everything else that I'm
running, including my Flash IDE. Looking online, I saw that this
frequently can happen with Time Machine and other processes that
open files a lot. However, upon reading the file, it turns out that
the culprit appears to actually be Flash itself. You can
check it by using the following command in the terminal to see your
    log:
    sudo syslog -db /var/log/asl.db
    In my asl.db,
Flash has been logging hundreds of entries every second! It
regularly pushes the size of the asl.db file up to 20-30MB. I don't
know whether this is some debug flag that was left on or what else
it could be, but I'm pretty sure it started when I did that latest
Flash update through the Adobe Updater. Adobe please, please,
please fix this. It's killing the performance and battery life on
    my laptop.
    Thank you,

  • Adobe flash player - no more updates for linux

    Hey,
I dont know if Im in the right place, but a week ago I discovered that Adobe is not going to provide new version of flash player.
I have the most recent one, Flash Player 11.2 for Linux, but some of my internet apps require 11.5 or higher. Im not a geek and Im still quite a newbie, but I was searching in several forums and all over google and I didnt find any other alternative.
Is there any chance to run these apps on Linux? I know I can switch to Windows but its a really stupid thing. Since Im on Linux I run Windows only for gaming or using Photoshop.
    Thanks for any idea

Didnt know its that easy, thanks

  • FLASH CS3[AS3] – MICROPHONE – RECORD AND SAVE AS WAVE FILE

    HI,
I need solution for this one.Can we record, play and save an audio using flash CS3 astion script.
It should be something like this:http://justflash.byethost12.com/microphone/microphone_recandsave1.html
I have searched for the soluiton but i found it in flash cs5.I need it in flash cs3.
    Looking for the solution.
    Thank You

    Hello Jeff,
    From the LabVIEW Help description:
Sound File Write Simple (Windows, Linux)
Writes data from an array of waveforms to a .wav file. This VI automatically opens, writes to, and closes the .wav file. Windows You must have DirectX 8.0 or later to use this VI. Linux You must have the Open Sound System (OSS) driver to use this VI.
So, the data input to Sound File Write Simple.vi is an array of waveforms. However, if you only have one waveform, you can build an array that contains only your single waveform using the Build Array VI. As described in the LabVIEW Help description:
    Build Array
Concatenates multiple arrays or appends elements to an n-dimensional array. You also can use the Replace Array Subset function to modify an existing array.
So, for example, you could run your single waveform into the Build Array function and get an array of waveforms containing only your waveform. You could then wire this array of waveforms to the Sound File Write Simple.vi. This is shown in the image below.

    Hey there,
I recently downloaded the Flash CS3 trial version for my mac,
and after downloading it seems that i can't complete installation,
because once its installed about 2 out of 3 parts it comes up with
an installer alert, saying the following
"Please insert Adobe Extendscript 2 now and click ok"
So i went through the folder i downloaded and found it but
after i opened it and tried to click "ok" it just doesn't work....
I really need this software to do uni work at home when i can't go
    in to complete an assignment.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Here’s what I downloaded from my account – PremiereElements_10LS_15_win64
I do get an error message when I double click to install:
“The file archive part of Adobe Premiere Elements 10 is missing.
You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe Premiere Elements 10.
    Please download all parts”.
When on the Adobe site there are many choices which is confusing.
Please direct me to the correct one….
    I’m running Windows 8.1

Can anyone help me fix this????

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am having the
same issues on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have been running Flash
CS3 fine for 8 months and now this, middle of a work day, on a
Friday when several things are due and I cannot get it to open.
ADOBE, this cannot be a problem isolated to just 2 people, what is
    the solution please?

  • Flash CS3 will not launch

After years of using Flash CS3 on our Windows 7 computer, it would not launch. So we did a system recovery -(everted to factory image), re-installed Windows and updates, installed Flash CS3, then successfully did the license verification. But Flash CS3 will not launch.
We copied the Flash Icon from the Start Menu to the TaskBar. This is the icon we clicked on to do license verification, but now we can't use it to launch Flash CS3.
    Thanks for any ideas.
    Computer specs:

    AMD Phenom™ II Processor
    8GB Memory
    1TB Hard Drive
    Model: HPE-210y
Window 7 with Service Pack 1; all updates applied as of 10/26/2014
(I realize Flash CS3 is not meant to work on Win 7, but it has for years on this computer and on a Toshiba laptop, also with AMD processor)

Well I decided to reinstall OSX to see if that would help,
and that seemed to fix it. I'm still not sure what the problem was,
but a fresh install seemes to have fixed it :]

  • Flash CS3 crashing after 20-30 minutes

I've used Flash CS3 Web Premium for over two years without a problem.  Suddenly three weeks ago, it started crashing.  Through trial and error, I learned that it would run about 20-30 minutes before crashing.  It does not matter if I am working in  Flash, or if the program is just loaded and even minimized.  It always crashes after a few minutes.
By crash, I mean the following.
    1)My computer locks up
2)Elements on the flash screen may change colors, some being whited out completely.
3)It may stay locked up, or it sometimes throws the following  error.  "Unknown software exception 0xe06d7363 occurred in application 0x7c812a6b".
4)Flash then either ends or I must use Task Manager to force it to exit.
Here is where it gets really bizarre.
After the crash, none of my Adobe products will run.  They all say that the product (Fireworks, Photoshop, etc.) is not a valid .exe.
Once I restart my computer, everything returns to normal. And I can use Flash again....for 20 to 30 minutes.
I first tried repairing Flash which made no difference.
I then uninstalled and reinstalled the entire CS3 suite.  The problem still exists.
I'm thinking it is something bad in the Registry, is there a tool for completely removing all traces of CS3 from the Registry?
I am looking for any and all advice.
    My Environment:
    Windows XP sp3
    2gig. Memory
    Itel Pentium 1.86gz processor
    Thank you in advance.

How much space do you have left.
It even hangs under safe boot.
Not a good sign.  Any devices connected to your MBP while troubleshooting?
I assume this is a hardware issue
    Run Apple Hardware Test.
If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.
Out of warranty, take the MBP to your local AS or an AASP.  Diagnostic testing is FREE!!!

  • I cant find the Timline Control in ActionScript 3 Flash CS3

    Thanks!!

  • Something is corrupted: Code auto format, Flash CS3

Not sure if this is the forum to post, but thought someone
here would know where and kindly direct me if I'm in the wrong
    place!
I have had Flash CS3 Pro installed for a while, but am only
now using it regularly as AS 3.0 projects were few and far
    between...
However, now that I am, I am being driven insane by the code
autoformat that strips out parentheses and breaks all my code by
changing the meaning of code. As far as I can make out, this is
specific to my machine - implying something is corrupt. So, I
uninstalled all versions of Flash and reinstalled CS3 specifically.
The trouble is, code formatting is still dangerously buggy
and now (because I have uninstalled Flash 8) I no longer have code
    formatting even for AS 2.0!
Has anyone come across this before?
Any ideas how to get past it?
    G
PS: As an additional piece of trivia that may be related,
Flash player is now not correctly reported so I am getting "Install
flash plugins" warnings from a couple of sites even though I have
    it and it works fine.

    Hi,
Sorry, but you are not understanding me - I do not have an AS
2.0 formatter because the formatter I have with CS3 breaks code no
matter what version of ActionScript I am in - the Flash 8 one
    didn't.
As for using non-standard coding, here is an example:
    halfWinPositionWidthRelative=visibleImageW / (2 * fullWidth);
    Is formatted to:
    halfWinPositionWidthRelative=visibleImageW / 2 * fullWidth;
To give you an idea of why this is so bad:
    var visibleImageW =50;
    var fullWidth = 1500;
    trace(visibleImageW / 2 * fullWidth) // traces 37500
    trace(visibleImageW / (2 * fullWidth)) // traces
    0.0166666666666
As another symptom (more an irritant than a problem) all my
"new WhateverClassNameIAmUsing();" declarations get formatted to
    "new WhateverClassNameIAmUsing ;"
This means that I _cannot_ use the auto formatter for any of
my work as it _breaks_ my code - resulting in endless loops, random
madness and absolute corruption of all the work I have done.
I have compared with another CS3 user and the results are
specific to my machine - which is why I want to find out how to fix
    the corruption on my machine.

  • Konqueror browser for Linux has an useful CPU limitation feature for websites using Flash content. Can you add such a feature in Firefox?

I have recently found that Konqueror browser for Linux can help user to limit cpu usage while visiting a website using flash technology by changing settings in the Flash section and adjusting the slider from VERY HIGH settings to HIGH and MEDIUM and so on. It actually works, and it does not have a direct impact on the general performance for flash player but it may generate some conflicts if other extensions such as add-blocker or click-to-flash are enabled also.
Maybe you can add a similar setting in Firefox in the browser option section or just as an useful addon or extension.

Sorry for being late with my reply. I've just tested that addon that you mentioned in your post ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../system-monitor/ ) , it looks like a system monitor and nothing more than that.
As for the memory tip ( about:memory ) I agree that it can be extremely useful for users that have less than 1 gb memory installed on their system. I know very little about computers but I can tell your tip for optimizing memory usage in firefox has merits.
Me, I have another problem with cpu overload in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and most of the browsers with flash support enabled. Each and every time time I visit a page that features all sort of adds and gadgets based on flash technology, and each time I try to watch a video online my cpu goes all the way up to 100% and stays there until i finally decide to close the browser.
I am running winxp and also linux on a Dell Optiplex GX260 machine with 2000 MHz cpu, 1024 Mib ram and 128 Mib video card, it is not the best computer in the world but still 2000 MHz should be enough for a limited and uneventful web experience.
It is not as much an issue with the web browser, any browser, the whole problem is caused by funny people claiming to be deeply involved with web development, and promoting flash technology for ages instead of choosing other alternatives, more user friendly. All I am saying is that flash ruined the entire web experience making people to believe that they actually need dual-core cpu and coreduo and deepfreeze cpu and so on which is only partially true.
I always get better results for cpu usage when watching online videos that use media player as default player and not flash player, and my cpu stays below 70% usage which is not much but still it is not 100% usage.
Konqueror offered me a nice surprise, and I was able to limit cpu usage once I moved that slider from Very High setttings for flash player to Medium settings. I got something between 80-90% cpu usage as a result, and I was very pleased to finally see a working solution to my problem at least for linux if not for windows.
The only other browser that I can use for windows only, which handles both flash player and cpu usage well is Kmeleon browser which is a long forgotten project but does offer nice features once you find some plugins that it needs to make it come to life again.

  • How do I update Java for Adobe Flash CS3?

    Hi,
When I ran Secunia Software Inspector today it told me that
the version of Java I have installed on my computer is out of date.
It tells me that it is finding 3 out-of-date files:
    Once here:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_04\bin\java.exe
    Twice here:
    C:\Windows\System32\java.exe
    and three times here:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\JVM\bin\java.exe
I updated Java via the Sun website and consequently the first
and second warnings disappeared when I reran the Software
    Inspector.
The software inspector however is still finding an
    out-of-date Java version here:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\JVM\bin\java.exe
Question is: How do I update Java for Adobe Flash CS3?
Is it adequate to copy the updated file "java.exe" from
    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_04\bin\" to "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\JVM\bin\" or do I need to do anything
    else?
Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hi
I have the same problem of you, and the same dont find a
solution. Me it's Kaspersky Anti Virus (AV) which find this
    problem.
So (and I dont know if this solution is perfect), but I open
Flash CS3 with the Java update choiced and apparently Flash
fonctionnely well and Kaspersky dont find this
prob now. But I dont never use Java in Flash (or without that
I know that..), and same, I dont know at what Java is used in Flash
I think that "JRE v 1.6.0_04" and more recent Java version is
not good, because it's not quite the same Java application that in
    Flash CS3, In Flash CS3 it's "J2RE" and
    not "JRE".
The history of all Java versions (and this) is here (
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/)
(but in all this versions... seriousely it's a true shambles !)
If you want the last version for J2RE in this archives it's v
1.4.2.18 but the last version is J2RE 1.4.2.19 but dont again in
    this archives
(search on Java site, maybe first page ? I dont remember
where I to find it...). But the problem... it's that this last
version (19) is always detected bad by my AV...
So I decide to use just the next version (v 1.5) and last
version in this series (in archives site) which is the "JDK/JRE -
    5.0 v 5.0.16" but again named "Java 2 Platform
Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 16" in this dowload next
    archives page
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/5.0_16/index.html),
so well again named "Java 2" in this page (that which dont
the case for the equivalent same download page for Java 6...)
(Choice "JRE 5.0 Update 16" in this page)
For instal "JRE 5.0 Update 16":
    1) Supp all files and folders in "JVM" (Java Virtual Machine)
folder in Flash CS3 (but dont supp this folder, empty now) and save
this contents in archive in you have
    affraid.
    2) dl "JRE 5.0 Update 16", directly in this page if you want:
    (https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/View ProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=jre-1.5.0_16-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Dev
    eloper)
    3) In install, choice "personal instal" (or +/- the same
terms) and choice the "JVM" folder of you Flash CS3
and AV dont detect this version same a bad file
