Flash CS3 - saving as mx2004??
Hi all
Is there a way of getting Flash CS3 Pro to save as MX2004? I
work at a school and the pc system is only at mx2004 but the mac I
work on has cs3 installed. I've done a tutorial movie for the
students but they need to be able to open and take apart the
original flash file to see how it's built. Is there any way to do
this?
Thanks guys
Daz
Thanks for the reply Ned. I thought it could only go back to
Flash 8 but I guess I was hoping there was a way to drop it back to
mx2004.
I'll recreate in mx2004, shouldn't take long.
Thanks again

Any version of Flash (cs3-cs5) will not publish my file..
Hi all,
this is the first time i encounter this problem.. I had the problem where a file would not open correctly which was also addressed at this forum. But this one is different. this file was created (from what i remember) in Flash 8, then opened/saved in all possible flash versions for updates in time.
While it will open just fine, it will not publish. The publish window with the percentage will open up for a split second, then it will close with no messages whatsoever, no actionscript errors, nothing. F12, the same thing again. No possible settings could solve this. I am willing to send the file for testing of course, have tried to publish using Flash cs4 and Flash cs5. I thought of going back to Flash 8 by opening the file and saving to a previous version but as soon as i open the file in Flash cs3 (while the file has been saved as cs3) it will not open the file with an error message that i cannot remember right now.
So the problem might lie in how Flash cs3 saved the file, but it will open just fine in cs4 and cs5 so the file is not corrupt in any means..
any ideas?
George
p.s. I tried deleting EVERYTHING off the stage and the library and yet it wont publish.. tried copying all frames on another empty file, couldnt publish either...Hi,
Try using different machine -
Saving keyframe size settings when opening Flash CS3
Is there any way within Flash CS3 that allows the default
size settings for the keyframes within the timeframe from the
standard "Normal" to another size, such as "Medium"?
Screenshot
of keyframe settings in Flash CS3
I would love it if Flash CS3 allowed you to save a certain
size as a default setting so that you didn't have to constantly
adjust this info every time you opened up a .fla file.
Yeah - I know - it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of
things, but still would be nice.
Thanks -
KevinI haven't been clicking things fast. It happens when I try to save. It's not random. I've spent a decent amount of time on google and haven't found a solution. There are a lot of results about freezing and crashing, but I haven't found any on freezing due to saving.
I know it should be fine, but that's what's weird about it. It shouldn't be freezing like this and it's at a point where it's not something I can ignore. -
Flash CS3 crashes when saving custom workspace
I have Flash CS3 on a Windows XP sp2 machine. Everytime I try
to save a custom workspace, Flash crashes. There is no error
messages, Flash freezes and becomes non-responsive. I have noticed
in the Task Manger that there seems to be 2 Flash windows open at
the time, but I never see the second instance.
I have seen other people who have issue with Flash crashing
with dual monitors - which I also have.
Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks!I don't know of a solution, but what you describe is
*exactly* what happens to me (even down to the 2 instances of Flash
in the Task Manager). What video card are you using? I'm using an
NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E series card. -
Error embed / insert Flash CS3 9.0 swf in Acrobat 8.1.2
Goal: embed Flash swf file in Acrobat pdf.
Software: Flash CS3 9.0, Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Mac OS 10.5.2 (all updates applied as available 3/27/08). If it matters: Quicktime Player 7.4.1. All swf files are associated to open with Flash Player 9 (9,0,115,0).
Hardware: PowerMac Dual 2GHz G5, 9.5 GB RAM
Error Description: This error is seen on 2 out of 3 PowerMacs; the 3rd PowerMac will inexplicably work. Here is what is done to receive error: Open pdf document in Acrobat. Select Movie Tool from Advanced Editing Toolbar, choose swf file from Desktop (pdf file is also saved on Desktop to eliminate network considerations). All defaults are retained in dialog window, when "OK" is pressed, status message "Initializing authoring system" appears and remains indefinitely. "Cancel" is pressed and produces following error message window: "Cannot create the movie annotation because the movie could not be loaded. This can occur if the file cannot be found or the URL is unreachable (make sure proxy server settings are correct)."
Adobe Support claims Leopard incompatibility with embedded Quicktime 7.3.1 (I have updated to 7.4.1). Also, AS recommended file association of swf to Flash Player exclusively. Have taken all actions recommended...still have problem.
Anyone have any ideas?I believe that the latest version of QuickTime which you no doubt have installed does not support the latest version of Flash (9.0). Since Acrobat depends on QuickTime for multimedia in Acrobat 8 Professional, this feature breaks.
What needs to happen is for the next version of Acrobat to support Flash directly, not using QuickTime. -
Beware of Zoomify and Flash CS3!
Does anyone else have problems getting
Zoomifyer for Flash to work in Flash CS3 on Mac OSX?
Everytime I launch the Component Inspector in the Zoomify Viewer
Component I get an alert saying: "Reference Error ZoomifyFileAPI is
not defined". This is one of several JavaScript errors and alerts
that frequently launch. I emailed [email protected] but so far no
reply.
Am really annoyed for three reasons:
1. Paid 129 USD for it
2. It is for client work!
3. Zoomify have as yet to respondI have the same problem. (on Flash CS3 OS X) Bought it
yesterday for a project. Expected to get documentation with the
download. No response from support. I installed the component in
Flash MX2004 and get this error : ZoomifyFileAPI.fileExists is not
a function when opening the component inspector... At least I was
able to enter paths and get a first etst going.
Overall it looks buggy... and abandoned. Too bad. I like the
samples I've seen and I think there is a lot of potential for
development. -
Export to Flash CS3 doesn't work
Hello,
I have Captivate 4 and Flash CS3 (full versions) - WinXP.
When I want export Captivate project to Flash - "File -> Export
-> Project to -> Flash CS3" I will get only notify: "Cannot
initialize Cpativate FLA Exporter. You may need to restart Flash."
Flash CS3 is running and Captivate project is saved. Any idea?
LeošHi Leoš,
I guess you are searching in the wrong place. Its not
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash
CS3\cs\Configuration\Importers
It should be
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
Windows Drive Letter is the drive in which windows is
installed into. Generally it is 'C' (without quotes)
Anyway, I dont think there is support for Czech version of
Flash to export from Captivate. However you can try this out:
Copy RDMFISTUB9.dll into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\RDMFISTUB9.dll)
Copy RdJsfl.dll into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\RdJsfl.dll)
Copy AdobeCaptivate Folder inside ActionScript Folder into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
(Ex path for folder: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\ActionScript\AdobeCaptivate)
You can get RDMFISTUB9.dll, RdJsfl.dll in Adobe Captivate 4
installed directory
(Generally this should be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4)
Now try to import a cp file into captivate.

Flash CS3 Issues ..?
Hi - General question ii hope some cna help me with.
Recently downed Flash CS3 - Dreamweaver and PS
No issue on install - things i thought were going fine
Comps got a fresh OS and updated drivers new - 2 gig of
memory.
i've been noticing little things like - when i save my fla -
i updates other .fla's in the same folder - (not with the same
name)
I just built a CF and now - with no change to the swf - when
i saved the .fla after a minor update - it changed all the other
versions of .fla and the .swfs - all were empty - 1k swf and 1k
.fla's after saving.
when attempting to preview the fla's i had been using and is
working fine on my site. Flash stated it had preformed and illigal
something? and crashed and keeps crashing upon attempting a preview
whethr browser or flash.
I checked all code and code in the xml's js nad action
scripts html etc etc - it was fine
Now here is the kicker - my flash player ? seems to be
missing over and over - i go to the adobe site - it shows it's not
installed - i've installed it at least 8 damn times today. I dont'
know if this is realated - but - it seems to be happening
after deleting the 1k .swf's and fla files it produced
I coped and pasted a back up copies of the .swfs and .fla's -
which worked fine while in the back up folder - worked perfectly -
till i opened it up the .fla in flash ( rechecking code to be sure
i didn't miss something.
Flash did it again, emptied or changed the back-up copy of
the .swf and .fla down to .1k - empty nothing there. all i did was
open it up?
did a virus scan - a spy ware scan - nothing - didnt' think
there would be - but better safe than sorry.
These issues just really kicked in today - while i was
working on a final .fla and considering some changes additions -
going to experiment and get deeper into what i wanted to create.
Till around 4pm today my .fla's and .swf Previewed fine and
played fine - then just quit - and though it won't preview - i
tested a export movie - the new .swf worked???
any thoughts on the cause?
Possible software conflict - maybe?
but that wouldn't explain the Flash player not showing as
installed on the adobe site or would it.
I need to finish this fla soon, so i could use some help with
this if any one has some suggestions as to what may be causing the
issues.
tia
- c -thanx for the reply jdmajor -
as mentioned - i scanned yesterday - first thing was a boot
scan - memory scan - file scan - took 3 hrs to scan everything so
many times - nothing popped up - well.....
a Avast stated a cab file was corrupted on the boot scan -
reinstalled Avast - re-updated signatures and Re-Boot scanned,
memory scanned.
Nothing showing as corrupted as far as viruses trojans worms
etc
did the usual maintanence - defrag - etc etc which
maintanance is done nightly anyway.
checked all updates for wares - nothing.
drivers - nothing new.
The flash player needing to be re-installed has been from the
begining - lasts usually a couple days - then it shows as not being
installed and i have to re-install it - now it's worse - yet
thoughit shows not installed via the Flash Player page - it plays
flash fine so i know it's installed.
there are no hacked warz on the comp.
Tried again last night - with some other back-up copies of
the fla. -
it keeps bring the 12k file to 1k and it refuses to work -
now claiming it can't load the .xml file which is ...
aaaarrggh! frustrating to say the least... lol up till 2:30am
trying to fix it
rebilt another mini file - worked fine - maybe there is
something conflicting with paper vision.
though there shouldn't be - i'm not re-writting the files.
Just opening an existing previously working .fla file.
I downed flash again last night - thought maybe a re-install
of flash cs3
- but...??? haven't done it yet
tried debugging the script - nothing other than it keeps
staing now that it can't load the .xml file
checked pathways - a hundred times - they're correct.
issue is somewhere... that's for sure.
thanx for the suggestion
i'll try a safemode scan - maybe it will reviel somthing
though to be honest i hope not - not wishing for virus or worm I'd
rather it be something else to be honest.
Doesn't anyone come up with viruses and hacks that do good
things ?
lol theres a thought -
Error publishing Air in Flash CS3
Hi All
On the Adobe Air Flash CS3 wiki page
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/AIR:Flash_CS3_Professional_Update:Getting_Started_wit h_AIR_for_Flash_CS3_Professional)
I found a simlpe tutorial "Creating an Adobe AIR application
in Flash"
I thought well this can't be hard can it?
However when I use the Publish Air File button in the 'AIR -
Applications and Installer Settings' window I will get the
following error:
"namespace is invalid in the application descriptor file"
Now I have tried to look into the XML file but I cannot see
any problems.
I also tried to use the descriptor-template.xml which came
with the Air - SDK
However also that will not work.
Has anyone got an idea why I get this error?Hi FragFood!
I received the same error "Namespace is invalid in the
application descriptor file" repeatedly on many computers
(XP/Vista) and here is how i repeatedly worked around it.
I made a step-by-step sheet explaining exactly how to install
Flash CS3 (9.0) with the Latest Flash Player (v9.0.124), and with
Adobe AIR (1.0) as of today (3/May/2008).
If you have already installed Flash CS3
Uninstall Flash CS3
Goto all the "Program Data" folders, RENAME/DELETE the "en"
folder
Goto "Program Files" folder, RENAME/DELETE the "en" folder
Now to get the latest version of Flash CS3 installed!
Please follow these steps exactly; each one is extremely
important.

[Flash CS3] Resolution Issues
Hello, I've been trying to piece together a FLA for the past few days now, only to encounter problem after problem. I've managed to overcome all but one problem I have been experiencing in Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, being a resolution problem.
I've drawn 796 frames for a flash animation in Photoshop CS3 Professional using a graphics (drawing) tablet, saving them as a .JPG. Would have been smarter to use .PNG, but wasen't thinking straight at the time. After importing the files into the library 100 at a time to prevent a crash, I adjust the flash window to be 1176x894, two pixels short both width and height wise when compared to the files I will be using for the animation. This is to get rid of a tiny white line, as the files don't drop perfectly onto the flash even if they are the exact same resolution. So I plop on the cover for the animation, hitting F6 nine times to make nine extra frames for the intro. F7 for a new, blank keyframe, drop on the first (second really) frame of the animation itself...and it's not the same size.
Note that both the cover and all frames are the exact same resolution, 1178x896 with the flash being 1176x894. It shrinks anything that isn't the cover, also a .JPG, by about 65% the normal size. There appears to be no way to adjust the frames, so down goes the flash unless I really want to make it much smaller. If anyone knows a solution to this problem, I would MUCH apperciate it. :-)Okay the most important lesson here is that when you are doing something like this test a few before you do all of them.
Well I have no idea. I was going to say that you probably saved the jpegs at a different resolution. Flash expects 72 dpi. Of course that is possible that you have different resolutions.
Also I've never had a problem where the pixel dimensions aren't what they are supposed to be. So you probably have something else going on here.... -
I have just spent a day and a half trying to get the flash ad
I made link to the customer's website.....Its not that hard.....
and I have done it before in Flash 8..... but for some reason I
could not get it to work untill I saved it back to flash 8. Im just
wondering if anyone else is having this problem and or if anyone
can help me to get this to work in CS3.
Thanks
MorgenMorgen,

Hmm, that sounds odd.

I wonder if your publish settings were configured for
ActionScript 3.0
in Flash CS3 and you didn't realize it? AS3 is different in
quite a few
ways from AS2, so that would be the first place I'd check. My
hunch is that
you were trying to use AS2 in an AS3 document.

It must be a bug:
When I make changes to a FLA, save and close, these changes
are not actually saved. So, when I open the file again the changes
are not there so I have to re-do them. I have figured a way around
this bug, and that is by instead or normal saving (cmd+S) I do Save
As (cmd+shift+S) and save with the same name and overwrite.
I have all the latest software updates. It is quite
frustrating because if I come back to the file and do other changes
and export it makes it seem like I didn't do the previous changes.
I am using a MAC. Has anyone encountered thiss? Is there a
real fix instead of my cheap work-around?
Thank youI was on the phone with Adobe support concerning this issue
and all I had to do was:
Delete the following file:
User > Library > Preferences >
Flash CS3 Preferences
Rename this folder:
User > Library > Application Support > Adobe >
Flash CS3 > en >
Configuration
to
Configuration Old
It's all working fine, for now. If the problem re-appears I
was advised to reinstall the program -
Hi!
I have a question about how many scenes one can create in a
Flash CS3 file? Is there a maximum number that can be used?
Thankful for help letting me know!
/JoakimDouble check to make sure no actionscript code accidentally got added to any of the objects on the stage, that might be throwing it off. If worst comes
to worst try removing the stop actions, saving, close and reopen flash, add the actions again and see what happens. I remember something similar happening to me a while back but I can't remember what was causing the problem.
Bleh yay for forgetting to refresh before posting >.<
Glad you found a fix, but yea that is bizzare. -
Flash CS3 Crashes with Dual Monitors
Flash CS3 crashes when I have the actions panel open on my
secondary monitor and I close Flash. I have to actual move the
action script panel to the primary monitor or close it completely.
The same thing happens if I try to save my project space with the
actions panel open.
The other issue I have found is that when I open Flash up
again, despite the fact that I have saved my work space profile,
the pallets all appear on my primary monitor and not the secondary
one. Didn't re amend this issue back in Flash 5 or 6?OK the problem isn't the DUAL Monitors, but rather having a
custom workspace open while trying to close Flash. I have to change
the workspace back to Default or it will not close at all. Any
ideas. -
Flash CS3 Won't Run After Installing?
Double clicking the Flash CS3 icon on the desktop does nothing. I tried all of the compatibility options, I tried running as admin, nothing allows the program to start. There's no Serial number box that comes up, nothing happens when I double click the icon on the desktop.
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium x64The closest I have seen to this problem is that if you don't
save the .as file, then the updated code will not test, but that is
logical, as the .fla needs to reference the saved .as to export
properly.
