Flash CS3 settings

Ok. My workspace is the same color as the off stage.
I remember there used to be a grey tan area inditcating offstage.
How do i change it so i can see were my drawings are going on and
off the screen without changing color of background. Zooming out
isnt the problem but when i zoom out to 25% my workspace isnt
centered and i can see the grey/tan area buts far away.

i really need to do this soon? anyone know how?

  • Saving keyframe size settings when opening Flash CS3

Is there any way within Flash CS3 that allows the default
size settings for the keyframes within the timeframe from the
standard "Normal" to another size, such as "Medium"?
    Screenshot
of keyframe settings in Flash CS3
I would love it if Flash CS3 allowed you to save a certain
size as a default setting so that you didn't have to constantly
adjust this info every time you opened up a .fla file.
Yeah - I know - it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of
things, but still would be nice.
    Thanks -
    Kevin

I haven't been clicking things fast. It happens when I try to save. It's not random. I've spent a decent amount of time on google and haven't found a solution. There are a lot of results about freezing and crashing, but I haven't found any on freezing due to saving.
I know it should be fine, but that's what's weird about it. It shouldn't be freezing like this and it's at a point where it's not something I can ignore.

  • Problem with FLVPlayer in Flash CS3 (need to save out as Actionscript 3.0 SWf file)

I am using Flash CS3 and am trying to publish a SWf file that
makes use of the "FLVPlayback" component. I need for this SWF file
to be published as an Actionscript 3.0 file, so I have set my
publish settings to Flash Player 9.0 and Actionscript 3.0, but keep
    getting an error as follows:
"WARNING: The component 'FLVPlayback' requires ActionScript
    2.0."
Has anyone encountered this?? I am doing something wrong? I'm
pretty comfortable within Actionscript/Flash 2.0, but am only
beginning my first steps into the relam of CS3 and AS3.
I have also attached a screenshot of the files that represent
my FLVPlayback component (or so I assume). (see this link for

Gotcha. You must have started the document in AS2, then
    changed the
publish settings. Each version of the language has its own
    version of the
FLVPlayback Component (written in the relevant language).
    Start over and
compare two compleley new FLA documents: make one for AS3 and
    one for AS2.
Open the Components panel and note the differences between
    the two. There
are a different set of Components depending on the language
    chosen for the
document. Drag the FLVPlayback Component from the Components
    panel in an
AS3 document, and you'll have the AS3 version.

  • Error embed / insert Flash CS3 9.0 swf in Acrobat 8.1.2

Goal: embed Flash swf file in Acrobat pdf.
Software: Flash CS3 9.0, Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Mac OS 10.5.2 (all updates applied as available 3/27/08). If it matters: Quicktime Player 7.4.1. All swf files are associated to open with Flash Player 9 (9,0,115,0).
Hardware: PowerMac Dual 2GHz G5, 9.5 GB RAM
Error Description: This error is seen on 2 out of 3 PowerMacs; the 3rd PowerMac will inexplicably work. Here is what is done to receive error: Open pdf document in Acrobat. Select Movie Tool from Advanced Editing Toolbar, choose swf file from Desktop (pdf file is also saved on Desktop to eliminate network considerations). All defaults are retained in dialog window, when "OK" is pressed, status message "Initializing authoring system" appears and remains indefinitely. "Cancel" is pressed and produces following error message window: "Cannot create the movie annotation because the movie could not be loaded. This can occur if the file cannot be found or the URL is unreachable (make sure proxy server settings are correct)."
Adobe Support claims Leopard incompatibility with embedded Quicktime 7.3.1 (I have updated to 7.4.1). Also, AS recommended file association of swf to Flash Player exclusively. Have taken all actions recommended...still have problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I believe that the latest version of QuickTime which you no doubt have installed does not support the latest version of Flash (9.0). Since Acrobat depends on QuickTime for multimedia in Acrobat 8 Professional, this feature breaks.
What needs to happen is for the next version of Acrobat to support Flash directly, not using QuickTime.

  • Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.

When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
    frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
    etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
    Thank you,
    Olivier.

The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
    world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
    as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
    - Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
    production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
    the SWF2Video tool.
    hope this helps.

  • Flash CS3: AS3 - ReferenceError #1065 Variable is not defined

I have developed several actionscript classes. Two of these
classes are associated with MovieClip objects in the library. The
MovieClips have their Linkage Base Classes set to their respective
package and class locations and when I check the Linkage settings
(using the check mark icon) Flash CS3 reports that it can find the
    associated classes for both MovieClips.
When I check the syntax of my code there are no problems, and
when I test the Flash movie no Compile Errors are shown. Yet, in
the output window I get the following error:
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable class1 is not defined.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable class2 is not defined.
I have placed class1 and class2 in the above error messages
to represent the classes that are associated with the MovieClip.
Am I missing an import command somewhere? I have the base
class path properly set in the preferences of Flash CS3.
    Thanks,

It appears that this issue was due to some of my classes not
being marked as public. I had been following examples from AS2 that
had the classes marked as dynamic without a private or public
identifier. Apparently, AS3 assumes all unmarked classes are
    private.

  • Color management issues with Flash CS3, please help?

    Hello everyone.
I am having issues with color from a Jpeg image produced in Photoshop CS4
after importing onto the stage in Flash CS3. The color in Flash changes the image to a lighter less saturated state. Yuk.
Here is a link to a screen capture to show you what's happening (for a bigger view):
    http://www.rudytorres.com/color/weirdcolor.png
As you can see the front image is the Photoshop image showing the sRGB color profile embedded but Flash (behind) changes that color.
This client is quite picky and she will notice this difference.
If any one can help, please.
    - Rudy
    P.S. It's a button somewhere, Right?

    Dougfly,
Only an hour wasted? Lucky you. Color is an incredibly complex subject. First, forget matching anything to the small LCD on the back of your camera. That's there as a basic guide and is affected by the internal jpg algorithm of your camera.
2nd, you're not really takeing a color photo with your digital camera, but three separate B&W images in a mosaic pattern, exposed thru separate red, green and blue filters. Actual color doesn't happen until that matrix is demosaiced in either your raw converter, or the in-camera processor (which relies heavily on camera settings, saturation, contrast, mode, etc.)
Having said the above, you can still get very good, predictable results in your workflow. I have a few color management articles on my website that you might find very helpful. Check out the Introduction to Color Management and Monitor and Printer Profiling. In my opinion, a monitor calibration device is the minimum entry fee if you want decent color.

  • Export to Flash CS3 doesn't work

    Hello,
I have Captivate 4 and Flash CS3 (full versions) - WinXP.
When I want export Captivate project to Flash - "File -> Export

initialize Cpativate FLA Exporter. You may need to restart Flash."
Flash CS3 is running and Captivate project is saved. Any idea?
    Leoš

    Hi Leoš,
I guess you are searching in the wrong place. Its not
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash
    CS3\cs\Configuration\Importers
    It should be
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
Windows Drive Letter is the drive in which windows is
installed into. Generally it is 'C' (without quotes)
Anyway, I dont think there is support for Czech version of
Flash to export from Captivate. However you can try this out:
    Copy RDMFISTUB9.dll into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\RDMFISTUB9.dll)
    Copy RdJsfl.dll into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\RdJsfl.dll)
Copy AdobeCaptivate Folder inside ActionScript Folder into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
(Ex path for folder: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\ActionScript\AdobeCaptivate)
You can get RDMFISTUB9.dll, RdJsfl.dll in Adobe Captivate 4
    installed directory
(Generally this should be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4)
Now try to import a cp file into captivate.

  • Problem in displaying Arabic text in flash cs3/cs4

Hi All, I'm creating one website. I have to display dynamic xmlize arabic text in flash. I have done it using flash cs3/AS3. But problem is that when text displays in flash it is not rendering as expected. Some gaps comes in the characters. But when I open my xml in browser, arabic text displays correct.
Is there any way to do it in flash cs3 or Flash cs4 using player 9? It would be really great if anyone can give me solution on this. Thanks
    Chandrakant

You have to do it yourself -  I don't have a ready solution. Just look into documentation how StyleSheets are used and see what properties work best for you:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/text/TextField.html
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/text/StyleSheet.html
Also, with embedded fonts you need to play with TextFormat settings and AntiAliasType
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/text/AntiAliasType.html
In addition, on my machine even if I don't emebed fonts - Arabic works in Arial, TImes and others.

  • PLEASE HELP ASAP! Button in Flash CS3 not working

I need help desperately. As soon as possible. I only know the
VERY basic's of flash, so I need it to be simple!! I am using Flash
CS3, but the only coding I know is from Flash 8.
1.I simply want to just be able to type out text that will be
my button. (I clearly know how to do this)
2.Convert that text to a button. (I know how to do this as
    well)
    3. Apply an action to the button. (I keep getting the error
"actions cannot be applied to the current selection")
    4. Have that button go to a specific place in the timeline
that I have named (It has the red flag next so I know where to send
    the button to)
    5. This is the ONLY code I know is even close to what I need
    to have it be at:
    on (release) {
    //Movieclip GotoAndStop Behavior
    this.gotoAndStop("graphic");
    //End Behavior
Is there a way to upload the flash files? If so I will
upload, because I know this sounds simple enough, but it wont work.
    Thanks
    Ashlee

You are trying to use AS1 in your movie, and the movie's
Publish settings are set to use AS3. You can use your current code
by opening the Publish Settings, going to the Flash tab and then
selecting AS1-AS2 in the Actionscript option.
A better, long term solution, would be to read through the
tutorials that come with Flash CS3 to learn the proper coding
    techniques to use with AS3.

    Hi All
On the Adobe Air Flash CS3 wiki page

    following error:
"namespace is invalid in the application descriptor file"
Now I have tried to look into the XML file but I cannot see
    any problems.
I also tried to use the descriptor-template.xml which came
    with the Air - SDK
However also that will not work.
Has anyone got an idea why I get this error?

    Hi FragFood!
I received the same error "Namespace is invalid in the
application descriptor file" repeatedly on many computers
(XP/Vista) and here is how i repeatedly worked around it.
I made a step-by-step sheet explaining exactly how to install
Flash CS3 (9.0) with the Latest Flash Player (v9.0.124), and with
Adobe AIR (1.0) as of today (3/May/2008).
If you have already installed Flash CS3
    Uninstall Flash CS3
Goto all the "Program Data" folders, RENAME/DELETE the "en"
    folder
Goto "Program Files" folder, RENAME/DELETE the "en" folder

  • Can I use AS2 in Flash CS3 ?

Is it possible to use in Flash Cs3 the AS2 and not just AS3 ?

    site.....
    I wrote
    on (release) {
    getURL ("

    I cant used AS2 in falsh cs3 ?
    or can I ?

you can mix as1 and as2 in an swf created in flash cs3 or you
can use as3 in a swf created in flash cs3. but you cannot mix as3
with either of the other two languages.
use the publish settings to choose which language you want to

  • Flash CS3 - Odd button problem

Hello, Ive upgraded to Flash CS3 and I'm having a problem
    with buttons.
When I open up my site, the old buttons work fine to navigate
the site and open up URL links. I have the actions on their own
layer instead of having an onRelease on each button.
However, when I create new buttons, they don't work.
I've even tried copying the existing working buttons,
applying the exact same actionscript to figure out what's going on,
but that also doesn't work, those buttons won't open up the URLs.
Am I perhaps using the wrong publish settings/flash player
    choice?
    Thanks

The answer is "skins" just search under "Creating skins for
some instances" in the Flash CS3 help file.

I wonder if your publish settings were configured for
    ActionScript 3.0
in Flash CS3 and you didn't realize it? AS3 is different in
    quite a few
ways from AS2, so that would be the first place I'd check. My
    hunch is that
you were trying to use AS2 in an AS3 document.

  • Creating flash cs3 component

    Hi,
There is great and easy way to create flash based component
in flash cs3 using action script 3.0.
I am going to make a simple My button component which will
behave likely same as flash native button component.
You can modify this according your requirement this is just
you give an idea about how we can go for creating a component in
    flash cs3.
    Follow these steps…
    1. Create a fla file and save this file with any name
    2. Create a movieClip and draw a rectangle shape on first
    frame.
    3. Right click on movieclip in library, select linkage
    4. Provide class name in text field area [MyButton] (you can
use any name here which should matched with your class)
    5. Click Ok button
    6. Write class [MyButton]
(you can copy and use this)

    Works just fine.
Made new movie, on frame 2 places Full screen action, on
    frame 5 placed video component
and stop(); action attached to frame. Projector pops large
    following by video playing
    just fine.
I tried variety, first frame, many frames, all on one. Not
    able to reproduce your problem.
    Works on first go.
