Flash CS3 swf viewing @ hyper-speed on IE
Hello-
I have created a slide show from the Flash CS3 template...
inserted in a DW CS3 document. Views/Tests GREAT except from IE...
I'm thinking there must be a special "IE" code... but cannot find
documentation. What's also interesting, I also created a Flash
slide show from a version 6 Flash and inserted in the MX DW...
works like a charm... hmmm???
The examples are found:
http://www.bonanzapress.com/chipsproducts.html
(hyper-speed in IE)
http://www.islandsanctuaryproperties.com/photos.html
(created with the older version of Flash)
THANKS in advance!!
Krys
What version of IE? I would actually strongly discourage
coding anything for IE. It has always been broken. Did you know
that to display PNG graphics properly, you need to enable Active-X
controls? Probably the same thing with Flash. For that reason, I
suggest adding a line to your website that can only be viewed by IE
users that says "Please visit this site using any 32-bit web
browser other than Internet Explorer. Adobe just doesn't have
anyone that is able to compile a 64-bit browser at this time, and
does not support those who know what they are doing. Thank
you."

Flash CS3 swf quality on dvd work flow
I have a larage movie that will not export out of flash in avi it stops work windowsexporterserver.exe stops working and it stops. i want the quality i see in swf file and windows exe projector file on dvd and the web Ihave tried everything
I have a flash CS3 movie and the quality in that .swf file and the projector file are great but I need to have this content on DVD and as Web based movie.
The export to movie in flash to either avi or mov file from flash does not even come close to quality that you have when viewing in .swf which is published with no problems from flash. The avi uncompressed file is over 4 gig not usable. All of the other codecs of mpeg stop working unknown error.
So when I import flash .swf into premiere pro CS4 and then try to export to any of the mpeg file types which are suggested the best for dvd and the web the windowsexpoerterexe stops working and the exports stops.
In premiere I try the send direct to encore cs4 and encode stops unknown error
How do I get the quality I see in the .swf and the windows projector.exe onto a dvd
You can see what I have been able to post so far on line but the quality is just not acceptable http://owensarchitects.com/cherokeeoverview.htm
and the DVD version I have been able to produce is even worse so what I missing

Export to Flash CS3, SWFs not editable - HELP!
On this page (
http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/integration/flash/)
it says about exporting to Flash, "Each Adobe Captivate slide is
automatically inserted into the Flash Timeline, with objects,
images, audio, and backgrounds on individually labeled layers.
Similarly, the Flash library is automatically updated with folders
containing all the objects created in Adobe Captivate 3."
This is not working for me. Instead I'm getting a bunch of
movie placeholders on my main timeline, with all the Captivate
slides exported as SWF files, and I'm not able to edit anything.
What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with
"full motion"?

Flash CS3 bringing tears to my eyes...
Hi there,
Please check this screen cap of a "corrupted" Flash CS3 swf :
http://www.fairtraderugs.com/corrupted_swf.png
Can anyone tell me why I'm getting these horrible white
"gaps" appearing in the published SWF(image on the right), but NOT
in the original FLA (image on the left). And perhaps more
importantly is there anything I can do about this corruption?
I had assumed it was something to do with cubic to quadratic
bezier conversion during the import from AI CS3, but I assume as
the Flash IDE can render it correctly this cannot be the cause of
the problem?
Many thanks for your thoughts,
RichHow is the AI file setup (layers)?
I have seen this before in very rare situations and I know
there's a way to fix it - I am betting
the original image is very small right? If so - scale it up
large - really large - before importing
into Flash. Feel free to send me your Ai file:

Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer Flash Element
Here at Cleveland State University, I offer basic training
classes for most Adobe products. We are in the middle of a complete
overhaul of the
http://www.csuohio.edu space. Our
goal to is to create an attractive, website with a consistent look
and feel that makes it easier for our faculty and staff to update
on a more frequent basis. In doing so, we have created a series of
pages that can be easily edited in Dreamweaver CS3. One item we
would like to fully support is the DW CS3 Image Viewer - Flash
Element. However, we have hit a small layout snag.
On the main pages of most college and departmental sites, a
specific space with a finite size is set on a web page for the
image viewer. A site editor then creates images in Photoshop that
are that exact size. The image viewer element is configured to be
that exact size as well. Furthermore, the picture "frame", title,
caption and controls are hidden in the Flesh Element panel.
However, when the page is previewed either in Dreamweaver or in a
browser, the images have been shrunk. There is always a border,
whether it is white or some other color. I assume the color is the
stage color of the Flash .swf file. This causes a misalignment of
the images and the other text.
Another issue is the links that automatically created. Some
of our editors have asked me why, even though they specifically
leave the imageLinks area blank, links seem to be created pointing
to the Adobe.com website.
My questions: is there no way to force the Flash element to
respect the size of the pictures so that no border is showing? Is
there no way to leave the Im
I've done a search on the Adobe.com support site and on the
web and noted that several people have posted questions concerning
this. Unfortunately, no one seems to know what to do about it.
I can send links if you would like to see an example. I'd
greatly appreciate any help you can give me.>I sent a message directly to Murray - one of the Adobe

I'm just a user, like you. And I'd rather you not send things
directly to
me unless I request you to do this. If you have a problem
that cannot be
solved here, then your next option would be to contact Adobe

I cannot be
of much help in this regard.

Problem with FLVPlayer in Flash CS3 (need to save out as Actionscript 3.0 SWf file)
I am using Flash CS3 and am trying to publish a SWf file that
makes use of the "FLVPlayback" component. I need for this SWF file
to be published as an Actionscript 3.0 file, so I have set my
publish settings to Flash Player 9.0 and Actionscript 3.0, but keep
getting an error as follows:
"WARNING: The component 'FLVPlayback' requires ActionScript
2.0."
Has anyone encountered this?? I am doing something wrong? I'm
pretty comfortable within Actionscript/Flash 2.0, but am only
beginning my first steps into the relam of CS3 and AS3.
I have also attached a screenshot of the files that represent
my FLVPlayback component (or so I assume). (see this link for
attachments

Thanks all,

Gotcha. You must have started the document in AS2, then
changed the
publish settings. Each version of the language has its own
version of the
FLVPlayback Component (written in the relevant language).
Start over and
compare two compleley new FLA documents: make one for AS3 and
one for AS2.
Open the Components panel and note the differences between
the two. There
are a different set of Components depending on the language
chosen for the
document. Drag the FLVPlayback Component from the Components
panel in an
AS3 document, and you'll have the AS3 version.

Error embed / insert Flash CS3 9.0 swf in Acrobat 8.1.2
Goal: embed Flash swf file in Acrobat pdf.
Software: Flash CS3 9.0, Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Mac OS 10.5.2 (all updates applied as available 3/27/08). If it matters: Quicktime Player 7.4.1. All swf files are associated to open with Flash Player 9 (9,0,115,0).
Hardware: PowerMac Dual 2GHz G5, 9.5 GB RAM
Error Description: This error is seen on 2 out of 3 PowerMacs; the 3rd PowerMac will inexplicably work. Here is what is done to receive error: Open pdf document in Acrobat. Select Movie Tool from Advanced Editing Toolbar, choose swf file from Desktop (pdf file is also saved on Desktop to eliminate network considerations). All defaults are retained in dialog window, when "OK" is pressed, status message "Initializing authoring system" appears and remains indefinitely. "Cancel" is pressed and produces following error message window: "Cannot create the movie annotation because the movie could not be loaded. This can occur if the file cannot be found or the URL is unreachable (make sure proxy server settings are correct)."
Adobe Support claims Leopard incompatibility with embedded Quicktime 7.3.1 (I have updated to 7.4.1). Also, AS recommended file association of swf to Flash Player exclusively. Have taken all actions recommended...still have problem.
Anyone have any ideas?I believe that the latest version of QuickTime which you no doubt have installed does not support the latest version of Flash (9.0). Since Acrobat depends on QuickTime for multimedia in Acrobat 8 Professional, this feature breaks.
What needs to happen is for the next version of Acrobat to support Flash directly, not using QuickTime. -
Import Swf file corrupts in Flash CS3
Hi,
I have recorded my desktop activity in "My Screen Recorder
Pro" and export the movie as swf file. While playing it on Flash
player 9, I found NO problem at all but when I import it into Flash
CS3 (or Flash 8) to embed with my project the file get corrupted
and I could see black solids squares in between. How do I get clean
swf file which is just fine when playing in Flash player?
Raju SachaniaProbably because you used _root within your scrollbar code.
If that's the
case you can fix by setting lockroot to true, within your
scroll bar swf.
Just place a this._lockroot = true; as the first line in
frame 1's code.
That being said, it's better to simply avoid using _root.

No CS3 .swf or spry in DW server files
(CS3 newbie...) I'm using CS3 and built a basic index page
with a Dreamweaver template. I have inserted buttons and spry
drop-down menu / jumpmenu and they show up on the local file. The
buttons work fine (change state and links okay) but the jumpmenu
just opens without linking. The problem is the same regardless of
whether I build with template or from blank html page.
On upload, none of the features can be viewed, much less
used. I have followed all threads here and directions by Adobe.
Any help would be great. The test buttons should appear at
the bottom 'under construction' area on the link below. Funny thing
is that my mouseover will prompt my browser into the 'hand link'
icon for cursor.

First, note that those are sets of 6 images. Rather it's just
one image
(with 6 people in it).
So, any 'image rotator' script or SWF that uses the fade
effect you want
should work.
In the case of that site, they are using the jquery library
and,
specifically, the innerfade UI script:
http://medienfreunde.com/lab/innerfade/
The only think Fireworks could really do is make a large
animated GIF.
Fading animated GIFs are huge file-size wise, so that's not
the best option.
Flash could certainly do this as well. You could manually
build a SWF that
fades the images in and out, or use one of the many pre-built
'flash
slideshows' out there to accomplish the same thing.

Was using Flash 8 on a PC now using Flash CS3 on MAC X and having problems
Hello,
I'm currently creating a photo gallery displaying thumbnails
of the original main image.
I was using Flash 8 on a PC and now am using that same file
on a MAC OS X using Flash CS3. And now the thumbnails are not
visible. The main image appears but the thumbnails do not.
The SWF created with Flash 8 viewed properly but when I
opened the fla in Flash CS3 the thumbnails stopped appearing and
I'm not sure what to do?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
ThanksWhoops, maybe I posted this in the wrong forum

Loop then stop Flash CS3 vs Flash CS5
I recently upgraded from Flash CS3 to CS5. I'm creating a banner in Flash CS5 using ActionScript 2.0. I want it to loop 3 times then stop. I'm using the same code as I did in CS3. When I view it using Flash Player, its fine but my client is saying it loops continuously when they view it. Has the code changed since CS3? Here is the code I'm currently using:
ON FIRST FRAME I ENTERED:
var count;
if(!count){
count = 0;
THEN ON THE LAST FRAME I ENTERED:
count += 1;
if(count == 3){
stop();
I'm Action Script challenged, so please be specific. Thank you in advance for your help.Hello kglad,
Thanks for confirming that the script was fine. Seems like there was something wrong with the swf file, not the script. Thanks for ruling out the script as the problem source.

Flash CS3 Animation and Audio not timed properly when packaged.
I am trying to create a simulation with audio, mouse movement, mouse clicks and screen changes. When I play the movie in Flash, the animation and the audio are timed properly. However, when I package it, the animation falls behind the audio. I am using wavs for the audio - I've tried mp3s also.
I have a screen displayed with a mouse. The audio and a highlight indicate the next step, then the mouse moves and clicks the desired area - with a audio mouse click. The first "click" sound is pretty close to where it is supposed to be, but as the movie plays, it begins to occur earlier and earlier. So much so, that the audio starts to begin prior to animation is complete later in the move. This is not a real long demonstration, only about 1100 frames, but I notice the problem around frame 180.
Any suggestions?IE stinks. There's a huge performance difference when playing
SWFs in
Firefox and IE. We have seen SWFs reach 100fps in FF 3.0
while the same SWF
taps out at around 40fps in the latest IE browser. It's not
Flash, it is the
browser.

Captivate 3 to Flash CS3 Problem
Hi
I am trialling v3 and just been trying out the export to
Flash CS3 option which seems problematic - no images seems to be
exported.
On the exporting progress screen I am getting a 508 error -
not supported, Flash CS3 opens and I have some assets but no images
Anyone know how to fix this?
Also is it not possible to export individual slides to Flash?
It would make editting in Flash a whole lot easier than having 1
big timelime.
Thanks
KevinHi Larry
No I am not a Flash developer, just looking for an option to
have a little programmability in Captivate.
I have just spent a few months looking at options for
producing learning apps - desktop or CD/DVD delivery rather than
the web. I had settled on Arthoware but then Adobe announced they
were not going to continue with this anymore. They suggest Flash,
Captivate or Director as alternatives But Flash is great for web,
not great for desktop or CD/DVD (distributing swf files not a good
idea as they are too insecure), Captivate has no programmability
and Director has little or no question/learning objects. So really
no alternative to Arthorware.
My view based on a very quick look at Captivate is that one
way may be to build individual scenes in Flash and then import
these into Captivate slides. No control over program flow or
writing to file, etc though.
I had a feeling integration would be an issue, the
ex-Macromedia products were/are good but all built using different
languages - Flash/Actionscript, Director/Lingo and Arthorware had
yet another language. Hopefully Adobe will copy the guys at
Microsoft and try to re-build the products on the same framework
all using the same programming language, then we may have
consistence and better integration

How can I remove the thin black border of Flash movie when viewed in a browser?
There is a thin border at the top and left margins of my Flash movie when the .html is viewed in a browser. How can it be removed?
Here's the movie.
One solution suggests replacing some code, but the code they suggest replacing doesn't even exist in my html file.
I have found questions similar to mine being asked all over different forums, but their solutions either don't work, or like the above, don't really apply. For such a common problem, finding the solution is getting a little frustrating.
I'm using Flash CS3 on a Windows PC rrunning XP professional.Okay, I found the answer. It turns out that when I made the buttons in Flash (so the movie would have clickable links), the default stroke color was set to black. Change it to white and the outline is gone.
As for appearing only on the top and left of the movie - for some reason the bottom and right is being cropped a bit when it's placed in to the html page. But that's a topic for a different discussion. -
Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.
When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
Thank you,
Olivier. The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
- Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
the SWF2Video tool.
hope this helps.
