Flash cs4/cs5 Import to Library....

My Flash CS5 has some wrong when it run in win7 .
When I press the button "Import to Library" it will be stop and close!!
How to solution this question?

Hi dogshack.
Since it is happening to your files all of a sudden, there are a few things we can try. I would start with recreating  your user configuration folder and preferences files.
1. Quit Flash if you have it running.
2. Delete your user configuration folder:
Window XP - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local   Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash<version>
Window Vista & Window 7-   C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash<version>
Mac - Volume/Users/<username>/Library/Application   Support/Adobe/Flash<version>
3. Follow instruction from the following link to recreate your preferences files:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/520/cpsid_52048.html
4. Reboot your machine.
5. Launch Flash and see if you are still seeing this issue.

  • Flash cs4 nothing visible in library or stage but can see it in swf

    Hi,
    I'm not sure what I've done - symbols, graphics, text are visible in swf but not on stage in workspace or in library.  I wonder if I've accidentally reset something. I was trying to import an .ai graphic into a flash cs4 file when this first happened - the graphic was not visible in the workspace but could be seen in swf. Now I can't see anything in any flash file I open even ones that have been fine previously.  Just blank workspace and blank library window when select symbols in library. If I try to draw something, or insert text, it disappears as soon as I switch to selection tool but is visible if I look at the swf (control enter). Please help - much appreciated!
    The project window is just a white blank square in the developer workspace too.

    Thanks for the advice. But what I didn't make clear was that I can't use Flash at all now because nothing is visible in ANY file I open. The symbol names can be seen in the library but there is no image in the library window and no image visible if I open a symbol from the library. This is true in every single flash file I have. This has all happened since I tried to open the .ai file which had CMYK elements so I thought this was why that graphic was not visible.  The problem is that now nothing is visible in ANY .fla file, even ones that worked fine a few days ago. Also projects are not visible in the project window which is just a white blank.   If I open a new file and type text in, it is only visible as long as the text tool is selected. If I deselect the text tool, the text disappears.  If I draw a rectangle, it is only visible while the rectangle tool is selected.  If I deselect the rectangle tool the rectangle I have drawn disappears.  However, both text and rectangle are visible in the swf.  I thought maybe I had accidentally changed some setting. I have tried pressing Ctrl Alt Shift while opening flash to reset defaults but this didn't make a difference.

  • Flash cs4 not importing ".mov" files

    Hi guys.
    I have just upgraded to Flash CS4
    When I go to import a 2.6 GB .mov file to the stage I get the spinning beach ball of death for 5 minutes then a flash alert box saying that this file type is not supported. See screenshot attached.
    Can anyone help?

    You may be able to create the FLV by using the Adobe Media Encoder directly, instead of through Flash. You might have to use a third party app, maybe the one that created the MOV in the first place. Sorenson Squeeze should be able to handle files of that size.

  • [CS4-CS5] Importing anchored objects into a table

    Hi,
    do you know if is it possible to import a table in ID through an XML file positioning an image (as an anchored object) within a cell?
    I'm currently importing a table but it looks to me like it's not possible to add images...
    I tried with this XML:
    <Container xmlns:aid="http://ns.adobe.com/AdobeInDesign/4.0/">
      <Table aid:trows="10" aid:tcols="5" aid:table="table">
        <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1">...</Cell>
        <Cell aid:table="cell" aid:theader="" aid:crows="1" aid:ccols="1"><Image href="file:///Users/Me/Desktop/Image.jpg"/></Cell>
      </Table>
    </Container>
    but it doesn't work at all.
    Also, if I export XML structure after inserting an image within a cell it doesn't appear in the exported XML.
    I doubt it's possible...
    Thanks anticipately!

  • Flash CS4- Movie clips suddenly invisible on stage? (Same file OK on other comps/CS5)

    Flash CS4 had been working regularly on my Macbook Pro (Intel - Tiger) for a while, and then suddenly, I opened a file and all the movie clips went from being visible "stills" to invisible and represented only by an "o". I have tried settings, preferences, even uninstall/reinstall, but somehow my settings or something got messed up and I can't view movie clips on the stage.
    I have tried a variety of different .fla files and none allow movie clips to be visible on the stage.The files were created in CS4.
    This is true for movie clips that have 1 frame to many frames.
    When I Publish or Test Movie, the clip is visible and normal, but it is impossible to edit the file without being able to see the movie clips.
    I know that the issue is with my installation of Flash/settings being messed up, not with the file(s) because when opened on other computers (CS4 and CS5), movie clips are visible on the stage, as they should be.
    Example below: In Flash CS4, the stage just has "o"s where I used to be able to see my movie clip, but in the Test Movie, everything is there. To be clear, I could see the movie clips in this exact file, and then the next time I opened it I could no longer see them.
    I am hoping there is an obvious solution that I have overlooked. Help is appreciated in designer-friendly (non-developer) terms.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    Can you please try a few things for me? This will help us narrow down the issue.
    Test 1: Switch from ActionScript 3.0 to ActionScript 2.0.
    1. Open up the file where you see the "o" instead of your movieclips.
    2. Go to File > Publish Settings.
    3. Switch player target to ActionScript 2.0.
    ** Did your movieclips reappear or is it still showing "o"?
    Test 2: Delete user configuration folder and recreate preferences files.
    1. Quit Flash if it is running.
    2. Delete the following 6 files:
    Volume/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/FlashCS4
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash CS4 Preferences
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash 10 MRU
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.flsh-10.0.plist
    /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS4/
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashAuthor.cfg
    3. Relaunch Flash and these files will be recreated.
    ** Did this solve your issue?
    Please let me know. Thanks!

  • [CS4] Word Import severely broken/Interim Solution

    As I said before on this topic,
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    The Word import has gone from already rather bad to worse with one of the upgrade patches. ...
    -- read this for the symptoms.
    I finally found a work-around. Strangely enough it was one that has been rattling in my head for a while, but I can't for the life of me remember where I got that idea!
    The problem lies in Word's Bookmarks. These are not recognized by InDesign CS4/CS5 Import filter (but they are by CS3 and earlier!) and thus each one of them creates a mis-match in the following text, accumulating up to the end of each paragraph (or possibly the next one, it's too idiotic to check for those fine details). Only at the very end of the document, ID suddenly realizes it has a few text fragments left over, and decides to tack them on to the end.
    With results like this:
    and yes, these text fragments belong somewhere in the middle of the document! Even worse, here you can see it's text that's been displaced, but it also happens with pure text formatting. Bye-bye smooth text import, hello Mr. Angry Client!
    I reported this issue to Adobe "Support" (hum hum), complete with test documents, and got the quite unexpected answer that it was unrealistic to expect "perfect import" because, well, my page size was different in InDesign, my margins were different, the paragraph spacing doesn't work the same as in Word ... so it was no wonder the text was "not the same after importing".
    Ahhhh ... now I got that out of my system: the solution is to remove all Bookmarks in the Word file prior to importing. For Windows, you can make a small VB Macro:
    Sub KillBookmark()
        While ActiveDocument.Bookmarks.Count > 0
            ActiveDocument.Bookmarks(1).Delete
        Wend
    End Sub
    but for OS X you have to take the manual route: go to menu Insert, select "Bookmark", point to one, select "Delete". Repeat until bored to death.
    Now that I have done the work Adobe programmers should have done (that is, finding out what the d*** problem actually was) and present them with a Ready-to-Implement Solution (revise the code that handles bookmarks): WHEN WILL THEY FIX IT!?!?
    Please don't say "CS6". I'm still on CS4, and since it got broken in that version, I must insist on a fix for CS4.

    Just where did you send the report and test files? There's no way to attach files to the bug report form, so were you talking to some contract script-reading idiot who passes himself off for tech support these days, or did one of the engineering team actually get back to you and ask for the files? I suspect not the latter, and I can offer some suggestions for whom to email. In fact, I think I may put a bug in someone's ear now.
    Customer support, by e-mail. They *did* ask for files and I sent a whole bunch of them, original Word files, ID files to show how they got imported, and even separate screen shots of the problem pages with circles highlighting the broken parts.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    As far as getting a patch for CS4, it's always nice to see a romantic dreamer.
    But Adobe broke it in CS4. I noticed it, working with CS4. I complained about it after noticing it in CS4, and I filed a customer support case (w/due documentation) for my version: CS4. It's Adobe's own fault, as they have such a bad customer support service that it cannot readily respond to complaints about the current version!
    Sorry Peter, this has been discussed before extensively, and Adobe never looked into it before. Remember me asking if this was ever solved in CS5?
    If you haven't escalated your case with customer support to a manager and then that manager's highest-level manager, like the DIRECTOR of customer support, that's a good thing to put into action. From there, insist that the case goes to the highest-level manager or DIRECTOR of technical support, so you can register it as a bug that will get attention, and at no charge to you for the tech-support call.
    Allt this might just be a way to put makeup on an ugly and unchangeable situation, but, since you've already invested so much effort, why not give it one more try by depositing your investment on the highest-level person's desk?

  • Flash Catalyst to Flash CS4/5

    It seems that once you your project in FC you have to then pass it to FB in order to compile it to make it an aplication or a runtime file.
    My question is can that be done directly from FC?
    Or is it possible to open the FC or exported FB file in Flash CS4/CS5 and then compile to a swf /Air or iphone app?
    Because if not then someone would have to own FC, and FB in order to create projects!
    Just looking at what applications would have to be purchased!
    Thanks in advance...
    P.M.
    Hiprofile

    Hi Paul,
    I think what you're looking for is "File > Publish to SWF".
    There's also a checkbox in there to publish an AIR application.
    Good luck,

  • Importing any PNG freezes and crashes Flash CS4

    After being able to import multiple large PNG files into my Flash project, Flash CS4 now freezes and crashes whenever I attempt to import any PNG image, regardless of size or transperancy. This happens on any flash project, even brand new ones.
    Importing a PNG file into the library freezes flash and I have to open the task manager to close it. Interestingly, when I try to end the task, flash still asks if I want to save changes, as attempting to import the PNG results in a new, blank symbol added to the library. I can re-open the file with the blank symbol but because it is blank this doesn't help me.
    Dragging and dropping a PNG file straight onto the project crashes Flash straightaway and prompts me to send an error message to Adobe.

    Thanks Anton for your reply!
    I'm 100% sure that the PNG file is not the problem.
    I can donwload any PNG file on google and they all freeze Flash.
    I noticed that the program won't react to any mouse command. I hear the
    generic windows "ding!" sound when I click on something, but my keyboard
    shortcuts still works. I can close or save the file, change tools, etc.
    It happens since the middle of February, I'm not sure when.
    Before that, I've never had any problems with importing PNG.
    Also, I haven't installed any new program recently.

  • JSFL - Commands working in CS3, not in CS4 / CS5 (library.selectItem / library.expandFolder)

    Hi there,
    I have a script that works perfectly fine in CS3, but does not work in CS4 and CS5.
    This script is called "selectInLibrary".
    You guessed it, what it does is select/highlight in library the symbols selected on the stage.
    My issues are with the "library.selectItem" and "library.expandFolder" methods. They are simply not working in CS4 / CS5.
    If anyone can help me with this, it would be awesome.
    Code goes as follow:
    function selectInLibrary(){}
    var _proto_ = selectInLibrary.prototype;
    _proto_.aAlreadyDone = new Array();
    _proto_.DOM = fl.getDocumentDOM();
    _proto_.oXMLUI;
    _proto_.Init = function(){
              fl.trace("==== selectInLibrary v2.0 (for CS4) ====")
         var _aSelection;
         if (this.DOM == undefined){
              alert ("You need to open a Flash File First!");
         }else{
              this.CheckSelection();
    _proto_.CheckSelection = function(){
         //     Make sure at least 1 stage element is selected
         if(this.DOM.selection.length <= 0){
              alert ("You need to Select a elements on the Stage");
         }else{
              //     Clear library selection
              this.DOM.library.selectNone();
              //     Loops through selected stage items...
              for(var i = 0; i < this.DOM.selection.length; i++){
                   //     ...if selected elementType is "instance"...
                   if(this.DOM.selection[i].elementType == "instance"){
                        fl.trace("Element " + this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name + " already processed? " + this.ElementExist(this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name));
                        //     ...if selected element has not been processed...
                        if(this.ElementExist(this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name) == false){
                             fl.trace("Processing: " + this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name);
                             //     ...adds selected element to array aAlreadyDone.
                             this.aAlreadyDone.push(this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem);
                             //     ...select the item in the library.
                             this.DOM.library.selectItem(this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name, false, true);
                             //     ...deploy item's folder.
                             this.deployFolder(this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name);
                             fl.trace("----");
                        } else {
                        fl.trace("Skipping " + this.DOM.selection[i].libraryItem.name + ": Already processed");

    var oSelectInLibrary = new selectInLibrary();
    oSelectInLibrary.Init();

    var succes = fl.getDocumentDOM().library.expandFolder(true,false);
    // traces "success : true"
    fl.trace("success : " + success);
    But folder does not expand
    flash 11 on a selected folder
    tried with third arg as path without success
    Seems like another fl.blackmagic trick
    I you found something ?

  • Flash CS4 import shape from Photoshop CS4

    Hello,
    I'm using flash CS4 on a Mac.
    Does any one know how to properly import shape objects from photoshop to flash. The problem is when I import shape objects from photoshop it turns the shape into a bitmap masked out by the photoshop mask. This forces me to then manually go and recreate the shape object in flash.
    I have tried many settings but to no avail. Any help, suggestions, or even tell me they have fixed the issue in CS5 or CS5.5.
    Thank You, Jacob

    Have you updated Flash to 10.0.2?
    Is the Illustrator file very large/insense number of vectors involved?  (ie: if you watch Activity Monitor, does the memory usage grow until things disappear?)
    How large/intensive is the FLA you're working on?

  • Need to import from Maya 3D model in an Air-flash cs4 desktop application without loosing quality

    Hello everybody,
    We developed an air flash cs4 desktop application for the medical industry.
    Our application is too large because instead of using the 3 D model made via Maya, we use many images to simulate the rotation in order to keep the hight quality of the images.
    When we first developed the application we used C++ but we were loosing too much quality because we could not import the texture and the light effect at the same time - we could import only one of them.
    Now that we are using flash cs4 do you know if we could import in flash cs4 the 3D model which contains a hight amount of polygone with the texture and the light effect without any problem ? that could solve maybe our issu regarding the size of our application.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards
    Rachel

    I would look into using Papervision 3D, a full 3D engine for Flash.  This is built by a 3rd party, but is the current standard for doing these types of things.
    You can export the Maya project out to a compatible format for use in Papervision.

  • How do I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library on my laptop

    How can I import music files from a flash drive to my iTunes library? I put the flash drive into my laptop, selected " add file to library", selected the songs I wanted from the flash drive, and it looked like they were added as the names show under " recently added". Then I removed the flash drive from my laptop But when I select one of the songs and try to play it a message saying "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  So it seems the actual files did not transfer. What do I do? I have done this. With a cd in the past with nsomproble,.

    Thank you!! This worked. It does seem there should be an easier way but this did work.
    Dragging the files to "Automatically Add..." is pretty easy once you know where to look.  Just make sure iTunes is running when you do it; otherwise the files will just sit there until the next time you open iTunes.
    (Interestingly, the way you originally tried to do would have worked fine except for one little detail:  you have to first go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for "Copy files..."  If that is not done, iTunes will reference the files on the flash drive, which of course are not accessible once the drive is removed, as you saw.)
    Anyway, glad that all is now sorted.  Enjoy the music!

  • Flash CS4 file won't open in CS5

    I have tried Adobe support with this but their response was as helpful as a hole in the head. I am hoping someone here might be able to help or seen this problem before.
    I have a fla file which opens, save and compiles perfectly in Flash CS4 but when I open it in CS5 it crashes Flash with the below error report. I have tried this on multiple machines all resulting in the same error message.
    I have also tried saving the file in CS4 under a new name, did a compact and save and a magic spell. Neither of which had any effect.
    Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
    Tom
    PS: If anyone from Adobe is reading this... given you are charging a premium for Master Collection here in Australia I would have expected a little bit of help when your software doesn't work as expected. I am sorry, but that's just not good customer service.
    Here the first part of the error report if it helps:

    Hi,
    I'll look into this issue  here . If possible  please email your fla to us at [email protected]?
    Please note that our filter system cannot accept .zip file.
    If you are sending the file in .zip format  change the file extension from .zip to .zzz.

  • Flash CS4 does not allow importing .tif files

    Hello, anyone know why Flash CS4 does not allow import .tif a few days to date. I worked very well and now he tells me something of a Swift 3D importer, but have not installed or that or any other programs lately, I also have QuickTime.
    The truth is very strange that no permits, hopefully someone knows of that is due. Need help, please.
    Thanks

    That's exactly what I'm doing (since using 1 Graphic Symbol instead of 2). In my current Flash work I have a bunch of Classic Tweens and those all worked. But when I try a Graphic Symbol that's a line of text, then it suddenly doesn't work (the timeline does change color with an arrow, but the text stays the same size with the exception of the second keyframe where it promptly turns into what's in that one). I even tried a random Classic Tween just now making a rectangle grow to make absolutely sure I wasn't doing something wrong, and that one worked immediately no problem.
    And never mind that. Now it does work. I suppose I indeed did something wrong. Thank you very much for the help!
    Say, one small question: does Adobe Flash have a function to properly set video clips after each other in one big video clip? Or do you have to manually count the frames and add the video clips at the proper frame yourself?

  • How can I import a .swf file in Adobe Flash CS4?

    Hi,
    How can I import a .swf file in Adobe Flash CS4?
    Thanks.

    you can use file/import but that would be a mistake.
    you should "load" your swf, not import it.
    if you want to load it and need help, are you using as2 or as3?
