Flash cs4 not importing ".mov" files

Hi guys.
I have just upgraded to Flash CS4
When I go to import a 2.6 GB .mov file to the stage I get the spinning beach ball of death for 5 minutes then a flash alert box saying that this file type is not supported. See screenshot attached.
Can anyone help?

You may be able to create the FLV by using the Adobe Media Encoder directly, instead of through Flash. You might have to use a third party app, maybe the one that created the MOV in the first place. Sorenson Squeeze should be able to handle files of that size.

Premiere pro CS3 running on Vista 64 bit will not import .mov files. After Effects CS4 has the same problem, it says I don't have the correct version of Quick Time installed. I'm using the 64 bit version 7.6.4 for Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
Now, what is inside that .MOV "wrapper?" This ARTICLE will give you some background on "wrappers." It is mainly written with .AVI in mind, but translates to most AV file formats, including .MOV.
Now, I use a lot of .MOV files and these are all done in the Animation CODEC. Never an issue for me.
One thing that might aid you is the US$30 upgrade/unlock key to QT Player Pro. It can Export as a bunch of useful formats/CODEC's. Depending on whether your footage is SD, or HD, you can Export most to formats that play perfectly with PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CC will not import .mov files

Having issues with Premiere Pro CC, I cannot import .MOV files created with my Canon 6D.
If I try to import the files, I get a very generic "File format not supported" error msg.
This is a new install of Premiere CC on a new computer. I was able to import them using Premiere Pro CC on the old computer.
Quicktime will play these files fine on my new computer.
Premiere Pro CS6 will import these files on the new computer.
Premiere Pro CC would open them fine on my old computer.
I'm not even sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
    Here are my system details:
    OSX 10.9.3
    new Mac Pro
    3Ghz 8-Core Xeon E5
    64 GB RAM
Files are on external G-Tech Thunderbolt drive.

That was I was thinking at first, but if Premiere CS6 (installed on the same computer) imports and plays them, they must be on the system, no?
I really do not want to transcode. I have an existing project that uses the videos and the project on the new system will not import them or re-link to the videos. Really trying to get away from having to re-create the project and re-edit.
    Thanks!

  • Imovie not importing .mov file

I have a video camera (an Oregon Scientific ATC9K).  Normally I take the ssd card out and plug it into my iMac.  I then let iPhoto import everything, then I copy all the files to either my iMacs secondary drive or a network storage device (a GoFlexHome).  I then import .mov files into iMovie, and have, until now, not experienced any issues with this... However, this time round, after my import into iMovie, I noticed some video missing, so I assumed I neglected to import it into the project event.  Note, I have already reformatted the ssd card but have the .mov file both imported into iPhoto and copied onto the external.  Each time I attempt to re-import, iMovie tells me it will take about 4 hours, and when I return, the video clip is still missing.  No error message, just not there.  So I start again... same result... so I create a new project, and import the .mov file... another 4 hours pass... and I'm left with an empty event folder for the new project... I thought it failed at first because I may have ran out of space... so I cleared a bunch of space and tried again... another four hours pass... nada.  iMovie thinks it has imported the movie, but there is nothing there.  I can watch the movie in iPhoto, but if I try to import it from iPhoto, iMovie claims it is in a format it cannot handle.  ***. Pardon the french, but this is getting extremly frustrating.

QuickTime Pro is available for about $30 US from Apple online.
There is a free package called MPEG Streamclip. You could export from MPEG Streamclip with no audio track. However, it may be that MPEG Streamclip will not edit copy protected material either, I have not tried it.

  • Premiere CS5 not importing .mov files - codec missing or unavailable

    Hi,
I'm on a Windows 7 PC running Premiere Pro CS5. Have encountered a problem with .mov files that I haven't had before. I recently received three files from a shoot at a local tv station. They are .mov files and I believe they are in an XD CAM wrapper or format. I've gotten files from this station before and have imported them with no trouble (not sure if the earlier files were XD CAM, though). When I try to import, I get the error message: Codec missing or unavailable. Would using the Prism video convertor to convert to another format be the way to go? The file sizes range from 7.18 GB to 14.9 GB. Thanks in advance.

  • Can't not import mov files into AE.

This problem has appeared for some of the time. It causes several things I can't do in my After Effect, but I really have no idea how I can fix it.
Problem 1: wait a long time to open the AE, it hangs on the initializing media core and takes about 10-15 mins to get through.
Problem 2: can't import the mov files, and if I import the mov to the AE project, this pop up comes
"After Effects error: file 'file name.mov' cannot be imported - this 'MooV file is damaged or unsupported.'"
Problem 3: can't output the comp as mov. and this pop up warming comes
"After Effects: One of the output modules could not be imported. It has been reset to use the default setting for the selected file format."
I read some threads and I knew this might cause by the blocked communication between AE and QT. But I have double check my QT, it is version 7.6.6 and I have no firewall software installed, hence the communication is okay (i guess, since I can play the mov file normally and not the warm message that “QuickTime is not installed on this system…”) .
Some other thread says may because of the three party component in the QT Library. This may make sense, cause I install some converters for converting the wmv and avi before…
Here are the components in the QT Library:
    AviImporter.component
    FFusion.component
    iChatTheaterPreview.component
    IMXCodec.component
    XviD_Codec.component
↑↑The above 5 component I have move them out, but no luck still ↑↑
    AppleAVCIntraCodec.component
    AppleHDVCodec.component
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
    AppleProResCodec.component
    DesktopVideoOut.component
    DVCPROHDCodec.component
    DVCPROHDMuxer.component
    DVCPROHDVideoDigitizer.component
    DVCPROHDVideoOutput.component
    DVCPROHDVideoOutputClock.component
    DVCPROHDVideoOutputCodec.component
    FCP Uncompressed 422.component
    LiveType.component
Could anyone give me some advise regarding to those problems, and is there any of the above component I should move away.  DEL .\/.
Thanks so much in advance for any of your help and advise, really appreciate that! thanks!

Here are some background info about my mac:
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
    2x3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    8GB memory
    AE CS5
    QuickTime Player 7 version 7.6.6

I was having the same problem and so far this solution has worked for me. (knock on wood)
Try setting your default player for .mov files to QuickTime.  (Mine was set to Windows Media Player)
Right click on one of the mov files you are having a problem opening in AE.
Select the "Open with" and select "Choose default program..." at the bottom.
Select Quick Time. (Make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is checked.)
    Reboot your computer.
Open AE and see if it works.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 will not import MOV files

As of about two weeks ago, my Premiere Pro CC 2014 stopped importing my Canon MOV files. Never had a problem before. I've had to edit in CC to work around this. They import fine there.

    Jim,
I've looked up all sorts of MP4/MOV comparisons on the web ... most conclude that mov is perhaps a bit "safer" on an Apple OS and mp4 "safer" on a PC and non-Apple "devices", but generally list the contents of the two as being nearly indistinguishable. I do realize the Qt has had ... issues ... within the Adobe programs, especially on PC's.
You have any other good info? Always looking to learn from the more experienced ...

  • Can not import .mov files

i've been trying to import a QT movie created in After Effects. Will not import. FCX keeps crashing.

"When i import it shows it as "rejected"
What does that mean? You mean it has a red bar across the top? How does the application tell you it's rejected?
You'd better have plenty of RAM, a fast processor, and a fast drive to support 1080p Animation.

  • Itunes not importing mov files

  • IMovie problems importing .mov files

I just purchased a new iMac and a new camera (which claims it is Mac compatible and iMovie compatible). Unfortunately, for some reason iMovie is not letting me import any of the movies I create with the camera. I noticed this is a common problem, and the fix seems to be to download an earlier version of iMovies '06, but that seems crazy. Are there any other options to get my movies from my camera into iMovies?

I just purchased a new iMac and a new camera (which claims it is Mac compatible and iMovie compatible).
Compatible at which level? Muxed MPEG-1 files can be played by QT applications but cannot be converted by them to other compression formats without losing the audio and cannot be edited by them. Would you call this a compatible format or an incompatible format?
Unfortunately, for some reason iMovie is not letting me import any of the movies I create with the camera. I noticed this is a common problem, and the fix seems to be to download an earlier version of iMovies '06, but that seems crazy.
Unlike older versions of iMovie, iMovie '08 does not convert files as part of the "Finder" file importation process. Therefore, if the file you are trying to import cannot be edited "natively" (i.e., both audio and video content), it will not import them at all. On the other hand, iMovie '06 does convert files as part of the import process and it will automatically convert the content to an edit compatible compression format if it can.
Are there any other options to get my movies from my camera into iMovies?
Probably. It all depends on the compression format contained in the file. For instance, many Sony cameras make MPEG-1 video files. These files can be converted to an editable format (like DV, AIC, MJEPEG, MPEG-4, H.264, etc.) with a free third-party, MPEG-based application like MPEG Streamclip. Kodak MPEG4/µ-Law files become compatible if you simply pass through the video and convert the audio to AAC using the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option. Casio MJPEG/DVI ADPCM wil import if you simply extract the WAV audio, convert it AAC (or other compatible audio format), and re-merge it with your original video track.
This is a Bug in iMovie8. I could NOT import .mov files from my Kodak easyshare Z612 camera into iMovie8 as all the .mov files were greyed out.
Its not a bug if that is what it is supposed to do. If you check the compression format, you will likely find this camera also uses the MPEG4/µ-Law combination mentioned above. Just because the compressed data is in an MOV file container, does not mean it can be edited in that "native" compression format. If you check the audio format of your files imported to iMovie '06, you should find the µ-Law audio was changed to AAC. Whether done automatically by iMovie '06 or manually by you, the offending compression format had to be changed to one that could be edited before iMovie '08 would accept it.
ADDED: Oops! Looks like you beat me to it, Winston.

  • Im trying to bring a movie from imovie to a pc using a flash drive, but the movie file (.mov) will not play on a pc

Im trying to bring a movie from imovie to a pc using a flash drive, but the movie file (.mov) will not play on a pc. help!

I would like to offer you some additional hair, but I've pulled mine out as well.  I have created a slideshow of my daughter's new house (a very nice place indeed) as a house-warming gift, took all the pix myself with a throw-away camera made into CD's, imported all of the photos, cropped and enhanced with Iaza online free photo editor, re-saved the new ones to a folder, imported the selected ones into iPhoto, had the best thematic photo printed in 8x10 format, bought the black DVD's, made the MPEG-4 movie as well as the suggested exportable to iPhone, created a folder with the slides, crafted a nice playlist in iTunes, merged it all in iPhoto, but cannot successfuly export it into iDVD. The technical documentation and writing for some of this stuff is sloppy and sometimes unintelligible. The instructional videos are incomplete. The One-on-One fellow was most helpful the other day and said Apple doesn't really have or support an functional DVD creation tool and suggested I choose one or another "app" at the "app store", but the reviews for the two major ones are shallow in depth and I haven't yet sprunf for the $20-$40 download so I can re-experience the difficult learning curve. The Macintoshs I once used were incredibly intuitive; the iMac requires some study. The slideshow I have is imperfect becauae it keeps reverting to custom slide-specific choices I have decided (several times) that I do not want, but it keeps slipping back into "Ken Burns" mode and some of the photos don't work in that mode because of their format. But I will settle for less-than-perfect if I can figure out the best way to export the MPEG-4 I have created into a Maxell DVD-R some time before my daughter's toddlers aged 4 and 2 get into kindergarten.

  • Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

changed the scratch disk, in pre elements 8, to internal c: drive (os).
All the files from the same camera.
Please advice, why it is doing like this.
    Vinay

What type of camcorder did this video from?
Version 8 is generally not compatible with video from still cameras, and this video must be converted before it can be edited.
Also, remember that video editors do not actually add your media clips to a project but build connections to them. In other words, once you add a clip to a Premiere Elements project, you MUST maintain a connection to the clip's location. So, if you're connecting to video clips on your external drive, you can not remove your external drive from your computer or this connection will be broken.
