Flash CS5.5 Pro symbol properties window on OSX 10.7.2 Lion

Hello
My Flash CS5.5 is working ok on my new MackBook Pro, running OSX 10.7.2 Lion, although when I try to insert a new symbol or try to acces the movieclip's properties from the library, the propteries window doesn't appear! I am able to add a new symbol by pressing enter so it's working ok it's just I can't see the window anywhere and I can't interact with flash at all unless I press esc or enter a new symbol.
Does anyone know why this is happening and can give me some help please? I have updated to the latest version too.

I lost the serial number of my Flash Cs5 PRO

Posted yesterday a problem about my serial Flash Cs5 Pro. I do not have this number. I have this program for many years and this serial should have been lost on my old PC. Recently, however, every time I open the program, I asked is the serial. I can not open the program and have a number of unfinished works and other some customers. I need to redeem this number and count on the support of you. How should I proceed?

Find your serial number quickly
If you registered the software when you originally installed it then you might be able to find it in your Adobe account online in the Products section.
If it's a Windows machine then try running Belarc Advisor

Adobe flash cs5 pro crashes when launched.

Adobe flash cs5 pro crashes when launched. The name of the problem is named 'Appcrash.' The application name is 'flash exe'. Application version 11.0.0.485. Name of the module with this faults is Adobepsl.dll. and the So version?: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2
When I start Flash cs5 there appears a small box which tells me that it is importing files, where I didn't ask for. This happened after I imported a video animation from Photoshop Cs3. But now I just want to start a new project which it doesn't allow. I get only the flash sign and the fonts and than during the building workspace, i get the errorreport. Anyone knows what to do? Because it is not only frustrating, now I can not work on my website projects which I have to finish soon, aaaahhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
Thanks for reading and hopefully someone knows something to help me out of this misery. Oh I reinstalled flash cs5 allready, but nothing changed!.......

DW036 is from conflicting processes so I have tried launching activity monitor and trying to quit flash player from firefox; which actually has created more errors.
To date I have not found anything for DW050 error apart from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1001241. Suggests installing to another directory as previous install is not properly removed; to which doesn't really suggest any helpful advice to me.
I have tried removing the whole CS5.5. Master suite over six times using both the adobe removal software and cleanup. Also using terminal.
Really want to use flash; anyone got any ideas??

As per me the issue is with the Flash player , with the CS5.5 installation the flashplayer was included but later on an update came and your flash player got updated(a higher version)
so when you try and install the CS5.5 the flash playre causes the conflict , hence uninstall the flash player following this artcile and then re-install the app , it should work

Flash CS5 Pro/Flash Builder 4 Workflow

I'm new to using Flash Builder as an AS3 editor for Flash Pro projects. I've followed multiple tutorials on the workflow between the two but keep hitting a snag.
For example: If I create a new FLA file, edit the document class and select Flash Builder as the editor it opens FB and opens the new ActionScript Class dialog. All of the proper data is filled in but the "Finish" button is greyed out. If I browse to set the package to the default and click OK it displays an error at the top of the dialog saying "Super class flash.display.MovieClip cannot be resolved for the selected project." This happens any time I enter "flash.display.MovieClip" in the Superclass field when creating a new Class or attempt to edit the class definition of a MovieClip in the FLA library. Why is it not recognizing references to flash.display.MovieClip? Even when I use the FB code editor it doesn't code hint anything in the flash.display package. Any clues?

Flash Pro CS5 Replace Symbol Issue

In Flash CS5 pro, when I replace a symbol in the library, it seems to break the refresh of the item(s) in the timeline and on the stage.
For example, if I have a movie clip called "mouse" and modify it in one file, then copy that symbol into another Flash file (either copying it from one library to another, or copying a frame from one timeline to another, etc) it replaces the file....
...BUT the timeline layer that item is on turns blank and the item on the stage doesn't update.
When I scrub the timeline, the object appears and the timeline populates...
...BUT if I have applied tweens to the symbol, I can't preview them by scrubbing the timeline.
Also, none of the symbols used in the file consistently update on the stage or in the timeline.
If I try to change a tween in the timeline on any object, it doesn't update on the timeline (I can't see the tween).
Finally, if I publish the file while this issue exists, the object that I replaced does not tween properly.
In the end, I am forced to save the file, close Flash, and restart. When I restart, the replaced object is there, it tweens correctly, and the file and everything in it functions and its library functions normally.
I've never had this issue with previous versions of Flash. At times it is simply annoying, at other times it is a serious issue when I have to replace large numbers of symbols in large projects.
Anyone else had this issue, or have a recommendation for a fix?
My system is fairly robust... quad core 3.0 ghz, 8gb RAM, 3 x 500gb HDD, Windows 7 64 bit...and I ran Flash Professional CS4 on this same system without any of these issues.
I have the same issue on my work system, which is a completely different system.
I tried searching for a solution, but didn't find an issue listed that matched my problem.

Try file->save-as and save down to a CS4 document. Then try it. I've had a lot of really weird issues with CS5 in the past that saving down to CS4 somehow corrected. Although I use CS5.5 currently. Docs made in CS5 often don't even import into CS5.5 correctly. I need to go in CS5, open it, save down to CS4 and then reopen in CS5.5. There's something about saving down to CS4 that seems to fix things.
You can always save down to CS4, work in CS4 to make your changes then import it back into CS5 and export it.
In this world things are too complex and sometimes although it's not ideal, just getting it done for deadline is the real job.

Error message starting up Flash CS5 -- appears to be caused by welcome screen

I am running windows 7 64-bit, flash player debug (10.1 from labs) and CS5 Master collection.
I staretd noticing an issue today -- Flash Professional CS5 has begun to freeze on opening it. I eventually get the message "a script in this movie is causing flash player to run slowly. if it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?". At this point, I am not running any movies, I am just trying to open flash Pro CS5. When I choose to click "yes" (eg abort the script), then the buttons on the welcome screen do not work. When I click "no" (and do not abort the script) then flash crashes some time in the first 5 minutes of authoring.
I also noticed that if I disable the opening page (check "do not show again") and reopen flash -- then no problem
Any ideas on what is happening - anyone?

Just wanted to report back this was a simple issue -- it turned out to be a corrupted configuration file for Flash CS5. I called Adobe tech support and an engineer helped me to do the following. Please remember I am running windows 7 (64 bit), so this is what I did for that OS ...
First I closed flash CS5 pro. Then I navigated as follows ... from the C drive ==> then to the users file ==> then to my user file ==> then to appdata (this is normally hidden, so just unhide files or type appdata as next drill-down in navigation window after your user file) ==> then to Local ==> then to Adobe ==> then to Flash CS5 ==> then to en_US ==> then to configuration. Then I renamed the configuration file (to configurationold)
I restarted flash pro CS5 -- and problem solved.

and it doesn't work.
at first it did asked if I want to edit the file in flash builder or not, and it didnt work.
now it won't even ask.
what can I do?
and also I cant open a flash proffessional project in flash builder, it says "This feature requires Adobe Flash CS5 or higher to be installed."
but it is installed!
frustrated...

I gave this a shot, using CS5, and when I started a new AS3 file I got the appropriate prompt asking me which application should edit my file...

Flash Builder
When I chose Flash Builder, (which I had already running), it opened the new AS3 file there with no problems. Interestingly, when I closed FB, and with Flash Pro created a new AS3 class, I wasn't prompted (and the AS file opened in Flash Pro) - so it does require that FB be running, or else Flash Pro will be the default editor.
For the issue of Flash no longer prompting you "Who" will open a new file, you can change that here:
Edit > Preferences > ActionScript > Several items down is the Class editor. Change that to Flash Builder
If you still have problems...Are you able to successfully launch Flash Builder 4 by itself? Or has the trial expired?

Would I be able to use the same external hard drive for Windows and OSX?

I plan to get an external HD to put a lot of my multimedia files on and for backups but I don't know if I'll need an individual one for each operating system. I am going to be running a MacBook Pro with both Windows and OSX through Boot Camp.

No, you won't need more than a single drive. There are several options to meet your needs.
OS X can partition your external, and the formats for the various volumes can be HFS+ (the native Mac format) or FAT-32 (Windows format). While OS X cannot create NTFS volumes, and it cannot write to them, it can read them. Any FAT-32 volumes created in OS X can be converted to NTFS by Windows, if and when you like.
Windows cannot natively read HFS+ volumes, and only the FAT-32 format will be both read and write for both Windows and OS X. However, there are some third-party solutions.
"Macdrive" is a Windows utility that allows it to access HFS+ volumes as read/write. On the Mac side, there is "MacFuse," which gives OS X the ability to not just read, but write to NTFS volumes.

The tutorial says that the text box, should be text type Dynamic, but the only choices are TLF and Classic
Since the Classic closed the Instance name box, I chose TLF text.
When I test the scene, I get a blank screen, instead of a "Hello World" greeting. Is there a way around this?

I had the class file in the wrong directory, and so now it works! Thank you for looking.

Symbol Properties Class: field

What exactly is the function of the Class field in the Symbol Properties window?

I believe there are a couple of aspects to that, and for what I offer, anyone who knows better should chime in.
If you have an object in the library that you want to load dynamically, such as a MovieClip, you prepare it for that by selecting the option to Export for Actionscript, which lights up the ability to define a Class name for the object. When you compile the file a class definition for that object is automatically generated if there is not already a class by that name in a separate .as file.
So you can create a movieclip and have it be its own class. Or you can create some entity and assign it a Class ID that already exists as a separate .as file.
And in your AS code, to create a new instance of that class, you do it just like any other AS3 class...

Air for Android template missing from Flash CS5 Professional

I am trying to get started with developing android apps in flash. Most tutorials begin with my selecting the Air for Android template in Flash CS5 Pro. This option is not available to me. When I try to install the extension I get this: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashpro_extensionforair/
I am running the latest update for CS5.
Any suggestions?

Flash CS3 Pro - does not close completely

When I exit Flash CS3 Pro, the Action window and part of the
main window remains on the screen.
When I click on anything "Not Responding" is displayed in the
title bar.
If I click the X, I get the "End Now" dialog and I can exit.
I tried to repair, deactivate, remove, reinstall, reactivate
and still broken.
Any ideas?

Yeah your screen is bent mate. Don't worry, 1.5mm is nothing. They become all a little bit bent due to temperature stresses etc in the metal. That's what comes with an aluminium case. I think you have a chance for a replacement with 5mm or more.
If you are still in your 14 days period you an try to get it replaced anyway...but the next screen will also bend a little after a while.
