Flash CS5 Classroom in a Book  ebook (Kindle) tutorial files

Before I purchase Flash CS5 Classroom in a Book (Kindle edition) I want to be certain that the tutorial files included with the book's print edition are available online for the ebook edition.  The location should have a URL with the form www.peachpit.com/ebook/ISBN, where in place of the preceding ISBN there's a number.  For example for the Actionscript 3.0 Classroom in a Book the ISBN is 0321718062.  According to the Kindle Store the ISBN for the aforementioned Flash CS5 CIB is 0321701801.  However, placing that numeral in the above peachpit.com url doesn't yield the files.  Can anyone give me the URL for the Flash CS5 CIB tutorial files so that I know they actually exist before purchasing the Kindle edition?  Thanks ever so much.

Hi Noel,
Sorry for my late response, I did the first option. That worked but is not what I like.
The second suggestion you made gave: HTML listed "Windows explorer".
Do I have to change that to Photoshop CS5 or.....
Hope you will help me out here
Albert.

Here are some free sample chapters from the After Effects CS5 Classroom in a Book.

Okay, I have the same problem in relation to Photoshop CS5.1 I downloaded the Kindle for PC version, have tried several times to find the lessons, including three-four emails to Peachpit with no response over the period of several weeks. But am still stuck with a Kindle version and unable to get the Lesson files. The link given on Classroom in a Book does not work, and I get no response from Peachpit. Can you help?

  • FAQ: Where can I download updated lesson files for Flash Catalyst Classroom in a Book?

The format for Flash Catalyst projects changed in version CS5.5. When you open a file that was created in Flash Catalyst CS5 in Flash Catalyst CS5.5, you get a message offering to convert the file to the new format. In the case of most of the lesson files that come with the Flash Catalyst Classroom in a Book, this is a quick, straightforward process. Once it's completed, simply save the converted file with a new name, and you can continue working on the lesson.
A few of the lesson files, however, do not convert successfully. Adobe Press has provided new versions of those files that have been rebuilt in Flash Catalyst CS5.5, and should open without mishap. Otherwise, they are identical to the files provided with the book. Adobe Press apologizes for any invonvenience.
You can download the updated lesson files from the Peachpit website. If you don't already have a Peachpit account, you will need to create one (simply supply an email address, name, and password; you do not need to enter a member code or ISBN number):
    Download the updated lesson files

This may not be the same tutorial, but lesson files are downloadable with it.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book

    Hello,
I've bought the "Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a Book" and watched the videos.  In the video training, chapter 3 Image Editing Concepts, Kelly announces that she will deal selections, puppet wraps, layers, masks. I haven't found the videos. Do you know where I can find those videos?

    Hi Nini Tjäder,
Thanks for the link but I actually have the book that shows the same thing except the links from amazon unfortunately doesn't show the tools and what they do. Thanks anyways. I was able to find a site that shows the list of tools like in the book but better in one single page. I just wish I knew what my professor meant by "concepts" and "skills" since there could be a variety of these but what?

  • CS5 Classroom in a Book Delayed AGAIN

Amazon just sent me a notice that Premiere Pro CS5 Classroom in a Book is delayed again
The new "possible" date is somewhere between Sept 8th to the 14th
I will HOPE this means that the author(s) are working with Adobe to document the latest program features

You know, Curt needs to give up any hope a "real life," and get busy!!! He has buyers clamoring.

PS - it's probably all completely written, and Adobe Press is the holdup here. At least that's my guess.

  • Photoshop CS5 Classroom in a book lesson 13

    Hi,
Will somebody help me. In lesson 13 of Classroom in a book PS CS5 you learn to make html-files in PS CS5. After creating a file you are asked to pre-run it with Bridge. Rightclick and then open with a browser. I can't open this just made file (html) in Explorer or any other browser. My PS opens and is restricted to Word only..... What is wrong?? Has this something to do with PS or....???
I solved the problem for now by using Dreamweaver (Web-preview) instead but it's annoying....

  • CS5 Classroom in a Book Study Group?

    Hello everyone.
I just purchased CS5 design premium and am working through most (if not all) of the Classroom in a Book series.
I'm currently on Lesson 12 of the Photoshop book and will be finishing the book soon, then moving on to either Illustrator or InDesign.
I'm looking to create a study group with some others that might be working through these books.
I find I learn better when I'm asked questions on how to do things vs chugging through a book and not remembering things when I get done.
So if you're interested please reply here or send me a message through the boards and we can connect via e-mail, MSN messenger, google chat, or Skype.
Or maybe we could use these forums here.
I hope to hear from some of you soon.
    Best,
    Sean

These forums are a great place for learning too.  Ask a question, it'll get answered and other methods suggested as well.

  • Flash CS3 Classroom in a Book Page 49

Hopefully there is someone out there that is faviliar with
the book.I am a 3 hour long Flash newbee and don't pretend to have
a clue about Flash vocabulary/terminology, but here is my problem.
On this page I'm asked to drag a rectangle with the
seclection tool accross the bottom one-fourth of a drawing that has
a bitmap fill. It is supposed to then let me create a gradient fill
in just that part of the drawing. However, when I drag the
rectangle across the bottom, it selects the whole drawing.
Is there a missprint in the book? Did they leave something
out of the instructions? Or (most likely) am I just a raving
    lunitic that can't read?

    JayWoody,
    > Is there a missprint in the book? Did they leave
    something out of the
    > instructions? Or (most likely) am I just a raving
    lunitic that can't read?
It might be a misprint -- unfortunately, typos/errors do
    happen in most
reference books I've seen (including a handful in one I
    co-authored). I
haven't read the Flash Classroom in a Book, but after reading
    what you
wrote, I can imagine why your selection might always grab the
    whole image.
It could be that what you have is actually an imported
    bitmap itself,
rather than a shape with a bitmap fill. You'll know right
    away by selecting
it and looking at the Property inspector. If it's still a
    bitmap, that
panel will say so. If it's a shape with a bitmap fill, the
    panel will say
shape. You'll only be able to select the way you want if the
    object is a
shape. If the object is still a bitmap, select it and go to
    Modify > Break
Apart. That turns it into a shape.
If that's not it, post a reply and we'll figure it out. :)

  • Flash CS3 Classroom In A Book Page 75 question

I'm very new to Flash. I've just completed lesson 2 in
Classroom In A Book and come to the last page (pg. 75) where it
concludes with a neat tip: "To use this animation in other
projects, you can copy all keyframes from the main Timeline and
paste them into a new movie clip symbol, which you can then place
wherever you want to use it."
Neat tip, but I'm such a beginner, I need the step by step
method of how to do what it says. First of all, there are lots of
keyframes in this lesson. Do I shift-select each one of them and
then Edit>Copy to the clipboard and then paste the clipboard
contents into the library somehow? This statement flies right over
the head as the book has not covered copying keyframes or anything
    like this so far.
Help from more experienced users is my only hope now.
    TIA,
    Ken

"To use this animation in other projects, you can copy all
keyframes from the main Timeline and paste them into a new movie
clip symbol, which you can then place wherever you want to use it.
"To use this animation in other projects, you can copy all
    keyframes..."
To select the frames you want, left-click on the first frame
you want (and by frame, i mean first key frame...it'll be easier
for you this way) then hold down shift and left-click the last
frame you want (and by frame, i mean either frame or key frame).
you can tell these frames have been selected because they're
highlighted black. Next right click on the last frame you selected
    and select Copy Frames.
    "...from the main Timeline..."
By main timeline, they mean the timeline you're currently
working on. There's no secondary timelines really unless you're
trying to edit something...but that's another lesson.
"...and paste them into a new movie clip symbol,..."
Alright, after you've copied the frames, go to Insert (it's
in your menu bar), and select New Symbol. Name the symbol and
select Movie Clip. After doing this, it'll take you to the timeline
for the movie clip you've just created. (i guess this could be
considered a secondary timeline since you're editing this new movie
clip by pasting the frames there).
" ...which you can then place wherever you want to use it."
Right-click on the blank keyframe in the timeline, select
Paste Frames. And there you go =)
Also, as a sidenote, if you want your whole animation to be
copied (everything in your main timeline), right click on any frame
(frame or keyframe in the main timeline), select Select All Frames.
They'll all be selected, then just follow the steps starting with
    the right-click -> Copy Frames.
    Hope this helps =)

  • Free Excerpts from Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 Classroom in a Book

    Hi Guys,
I just posted a new blog with links to excerpts from the Adobe Premiere Pro Classroom in a Book. Along with the excerpts are links to the pertinent topics in Help. These links should clear up any confusion you may come across as you work through the excerpts.
If you are new to Adobe Premiere Pro or are switching from another NLE, I can highly recommend this book. The links to the excerpts are here on my blog.
By the way, at the bottom of the blog post are links to free excerpts for Adobe After Effects, including video tutorials.

Adobe is getting better all the time, should  have been easy to read 5 years ago, it does give you more confidence.

  • CS5 Classroom In A Book Errors

I'm learning some Dreamweaver through Adobe Press' Classroom In A Book and finding some pretty bad errors in it's editing. It's tough to then know if any problems I'm having with the program are related to my own mistakes, or if it's just another typo or error in the book.
That being said, when creating a new CSS style, what's the difference between a <#style> and a <.style>
I know the # is an ID reference, but what happens if Dw makes and uses the .style instead. The book shows a #style in it's illustration but when i follow the directions my Dw is automatically entering it as .style.
My mistake somewhere? Or is it another error from the book? How does this book make it to print will all the discrepancies from screen to what the book is showing? If you've picked up this book you'll know what I'm talking about.
    Thanks.
    John

I have never seen the <#style>, and did not see any reference to it at http://www.w3schools.com/
    However if you have
#style, then you are correct, it used to identify an ID
    When you have
.style, it is used to identify a class
Class and Id's are similar, however only one ID can be used on a page, while you can use as many of the same class on one page as you like.

  • What software is required to view Photoshop CC "Classroom In A Book" downloadable video lesson files from Peachpit? (edited by mod for clarity)

Hi all, I am a brand new student, so what I know about photoshop right now is virtually nill. I have the Adobe Photoshop CC classroom in a book. In the back of the book there is a key code to register your book at Peachpit.com. Upon registering the book, you are given lessons to download. I have done this. My problem is no device on my computer will allow me to view these lessons. I already have windows media player and real player cloud and neither one are allowing me to view these. I've already lost hours of study time trying to figure this out, does anyone out there know what I can do or know what I can download. On the RealPlayer cloud site they said WINDVD was a good alternative, this was not the case for me, it totally wacked out my computer putting me even further behind. Help?

Have you asked the book publisher?

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 9 Classroom in a Book - eBook DVD?

I bought this from Amazon just now. It seems to need the DVD that comes with the printed version. I assumed that if there was any content that goes along with it I could download it. Is the eBook unusable without also having the printed book? Or can I download the DVD files from Adobe?

    Hi Barb O,
Thanks for your input. After a few days, I asked Amazon to reverse the order, and they did. I didn't get any useful answers from Amazon or Adobe. So far as I can tell, the eBook was not meant to be used without the DVD that only comes with the printed book. So if I bought both the printed book and the eBook, I might have been happy with the eBook. But the eBook on its own is worthless. It was very frustrating trying to get support for the eBook.
    Cheers.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Classroom in a Book Chapter 10

While converting my vertical menu library item to a Spry Vertical Menu, my <div.content> element dropped down on the page. Pages 244-45 offer a "fix" for this issue (deleting the second ul.MenuBarVertical rule) and I did this, but <div.content> still isn't returning to its origional position (i.e. it's still dropping to the bottom right of the vertical Spry Menu Bar Menu Bar 1 (side_content) and directly to the right of the div .sidebar1).
I'm running DW CS5.5 on my machine, will this make a difference?

Thanks for the suggestion, Hans.  Unfortunately, I'm using a different type of Spry Menu than what Gramps was referring to.  Attached is a screenshot that might help provide a visual of what's going on.  Main_content should float to the right of side_content.  I've tried resizing the width of the Spry Menu in side_content, but that doesn't seem to work.  Instead, main_content will either float further to the right, or it will slightly overlap the sidebar image placeholder.  Any suggestions? I can provide code if needed.
