Flash cs5 not recognizing type1 fonts

hello,
i'm fresh to using flash cs5. everything works smoothly,
but i can't use type1 fonts (even though they work ok in flash cs3, and also, all the other types of fonts work fine).
if i use a type1 font, the textfield (both render in the final swf, as well as on the stage) appears in some default font.
i'm talking about text field type classic / static text.
ANYBODY ANY IDEA? thanks in advance, me i'm on my wits' end... =/

Hi,
Just go through the steps described at http://www.adobeflashprofessional.info/flash-professional-cs5-embed-fonts-for-consistent-t ext-appearance/ that may solve your problem
Thanks!

  • Flash 8 not recognizing fonts

I'm experiencing difficulties with Flash 8 not recognizing
the majority of a font family.
Its strange because Photoshop & Illustrator recognize
them & display them just fine.
The fonts involved my project include:
    Helvetica
    Helvetica Compressed
    Helvetica Condensed
    Helvetica Black
    Helvetica Light
    Helvetica Extra Compressed
    Helvetica LT Std
    Helvetica Neue
    Helvetica Ultra Compressed
Of this list, Flash 8 is only recognizing:
    Helvetica
    Helvetica LT Std
    Helvetica Neue
So at this point I'm having to literally type EVERYTHING out
in Illustrator, export swfs, and import them into Flash.
This is obviously time consuming and makes simple text
    changes a pain.
I'm leaning towards the fact that this is a corrupt font
issue, yet these fonts are available in every other software I've
    tried them in.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Any thoughts??
    Thank you!!!

I was having the same problem, with other fonts. I tried what brianimator suggested and it made it worse. Half of my fonts are now again gone. I can't take this anymore... worse of all, verdana is still MIA.
Those fonts are all in system/library/fonts, they just don't work with Flash and only Flash. I'm ready to shoot myself soon. I don't know what else to try. Any ideas, anyone?
PS: I have an iMAC OSX 10.5.7 and I run Adobe CS4 (fonts are recognized in all other applications)

  • Illustrator not recognizing some fonts and colors.

My recently installed Illustrator is not recognizing certain fonts and colors which is producing problems in my designs.
    1. When I drag in a PDF to edit, the letters will appear as gibberish (random numbers, letters and signs) (the font was "arquitectura" which is installed on my OS X I Mac)
    2. When I try to change the color of a font using the eyedropper tool, it shows the proper color in the color box, but the font remains black.
After googling it, these problems seem frequent back in 2009 but not so much today.  Im thinking it has something to do with this, which prompts when I open the application:
"Your application install seems to be damaged, Please reinstall the application."

    sugarfactory,
"Your application install seems to be damaged, Please reinstall the application."
Obviously, you should. It is best to run the Cleaner Tool between uninstalling and reinstalling.

  • Flash will not open .otf font

I just installed Myriad Pro and flash will not open the font.
When I go to my fonts folder and double click on the file it says
that its not a valid file and cannot open a .otf. Ive tried to
rename the file to a .tff but it doesnt work.
Please help this is really aggrevating.
    Thanks!

Some fonts simply do not work in Flash. I tried to search the
forum to show you other posts of users who have had problems with
Myriad Pro but this seems to be one of those days that the Adobe
forum decides to be finicky. I thinkg what jedaniel was trying to
say was to see if you can find a true type equivalent of Myriad to
see if that will work. The extension would then be "ttf".
Are you on a Mac or PC? If you have one at your disposal, you
may try using a font conversion app.

  • CS5 not recognizing font styles

I've just installed a font (Bryant) that has 4 possible styles: Regular, Bold, Light and Medium.
The problem is that Photoshop and Flash are recognizing this font but only the regular style...
I need to use the bold style but i'm unable to select it (both in Photoshop and Flash) - the only style that appears in the drop down box is the "Regular".
Is this some sort of known issue? What can I do to solve this?

What platform and operating system are you using? (e.g., PC Windows vs.
    Apple Mac OS)
VERY specifically, which 'Bryant' fonts have you installed? Is this the
Bryant family from Process Type or some other?
ProcessType's Bryant has many more than 4 styles; Regular, Regular Alt,
Light, Medium, LightAlt, Medium Alt, Compressed, Condensed, Bold, Bold
Alt, and maybe more. And they've been available as TTF, Pro OTF, and T1.
A cursory look at the font names indicates that they may in fact not
conform to the cross-platform font naming specs that have been described
by Thomas Phinney and Adam Twardoch.

  • USB flash drive not recognized by computer. Have tried all options of which I can think.

Okay.  I have a Patriot S-Mini 32GB flash drive that my Windows 8.1 HP Slimline 400-434 is not recognizing. I believe it recognized it once, and has refused to do so since. My laptop (Windows 7 Toshiba) recognizes it just fine.
All other USB devices function perfectly on this computer. USB mouse/keyboard/USB Hub/Apple iPhone cable.
    1. I have tried unplugging all other USB devices before trying this one. FAIL
    2. I have gone to Device Management and the USB drive does not appear in the list. FAIL
    3. I have uninstalled the USB Root Hubs and restarted the computer. FAIL
    4. I have tried plugging the USB drive into the rear ports that plug directly into the motherboard. FAIL
    5. I have updated the drivers, and have been unable to find a BIOS update as the link on the HP website downloads and says that it is incompatible for my computer. FAIL
...so what the bloody gorram heck do I do now?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Okay, and in the most ridiculous way I have ever solved a technical problem...
The USB flash cannot be inserted ALL the way into the port. It has to be inserted slowly, so that the contacts line up.
I figured this out by trying to connect it into my USB hub and noticing that the red indicator light was going on and off as I inserted the USB drive, flickering on as I inserted it and then off once it was all the way in.
Weird. But hey. It works now.

  • Flash Drive Not Recognized

I have an 8GB flash drive that worked until last night. I was uploading a 3.6 GB file and it crashed. I tried using Disk Utility to reformat the drive, but then that crashed too, along with Finder. I had to hold the power button to shut down my computer.
Now my flash drive isn't recognized by my Mac and does not come up with Disk Utility. I tried using it on a PC and the PC realized it was inserted but it was not recognized.
    HELP!

It's not the power in the ports because other USB devices still work without a problem.
Missed the part where you told us that. 8^)
Then format it on the PC and bring it back to the Mac.

  • Flash Text not displaying certain fonts

    Thanks as always…
I am trying to use Flash text for some headings, but after an
hour of pulling my hair out I've just realised it will only display
certain fonts, such as Helvetica etc.
I added the font I want to use to my font list but it still
    does not display…
I'm using MX on OSX 10.3.9.
    Any ideas? Thansk.

Is your text in a dynamic text box, or static text box in
    flash?
I don't think the issue concerns the "true-type" or not
    "true-type" font.
In Flash, when text is part of a dynamic text box (which I
assume is the case in your situation),
then the font works just like in an html page:
if the font is installed on the computer it will show, if
not, it won't. The way around this, is to
embed the font data in the authoring flash file, and link it
to the dynamic text box, via actionScript.
So if you cannot work on the authoring Flash file with Flash
MX or Flash8, and if indeed we're
talking about a dynamic text box, your only option is to use
    a web-safe font.

  • Flash 16 not recognized by browsers

    Hello everyone,
I recently reinstalled windows 7 64bits on my machine, and quickly installed Chromium 42 (64bits). I then visited a web page which required flash, a Chromium banner told me to install flash, so I followed the given link, leading to the official Adobe site, downloaded and installed flash, restarted chromium, even my computer, but flash is still not recognized.
I searched a little further, and tried out the PPAPI with the same results, following these instructions : http://chromium.woolyss.com/#flash
chrome://plugins does not list the flash plugin either. I think the issue come from Flash itself as Internet Explorer 11 doesn't find it as well.
Do you have any idea where the issue can come from? Should I provide more infos?
    Thanks already

  • Flash CS5 not exporting AVI

I never had this problem with Macromedia Flash MX, but now that i've installed Adobe CS5 Production Suite neither Flash CS5 or Flash MX export even simple animation to AVI. Just large unplayable files. Or in a couple instances, the files are messed up - the bottom corner appears on the left hand side etc.
In the past I have exported animated sequences as AVI of up to 4 minutes in length from one single run of frames and inbetweens without an issue.
I am running Windows 7. My tower specs should not be the issue. Why aren't my AVIs exporting?
    Can anyone help?

  • Flash player not recognized nor will Java.

I've gone thru the download process 3 times now, but Flash is not being recognized. Works fine thru IE 7. And on my Ameritrade account, streamer will not launch as the java program locks up. IE 7 is still my default until Safari gets this fixed and out of Beta.

The "plugin" for Java that is on the Safari plugins page is not a plugin at all, it's just a link to the Sun site to download the latest JRE (1.6u1). There does appear to be a Java plugin for Safari that is shipped in the install and is the two files JavaPlugin.jar and npJavaPlugin.dll in the directory C:\Program Files\Safari\Plugins.
This plugin appears however to do nothing. No Java sites work with Safari.
