  • Flash CS5 symbol problem

    I am having a problem with symbols in Flash CS5.
    In the library I have several graphic symbols which contain keyframed animation. When I save, close and reopen the project some of the symbols have been duplicated and saved as movie symbols with the same name but they are empty (they contain no keyframes). The original graphic symbols are empty also but when I double-click them in the library the keyframes are restored. However on one occasion the keyframes were not restored and I lost a lot of animation.
    Has anyone experienced the same thing? Can anyone help fix the problem?

    Hi Adam,

    Can you still reproduce this issue consistently? If yes, please email your sample .fla file to us at [email protected]
    Please also include the exact steps necessary to reproduce the problem
    Our email filter does not allow .zip files; therefore, make sure to change your attachment extension to .zzz if you are sending in .zip format.

  • Adobe CS4 Creative Suite Web Edition and Flash CS5 Crashing Problems

    Hi, just a simple question;
    I have a Windows XP Pro x64 & x86 Machine which both have Adobe Creative Suite CS4 and Adobe Flash CS5 installed onto.
    The problem i have is that when i install Flash CS5 onto the machine which already has Adobe Creative Suite CS4 is breaks basically, Flash CS5 keeps crashing, even if just creating something simple like a box with colour in it.
    I have installed every update available for both products and this still does not rectify the problem.  Ive read numerous articles about fonts, hotfixes, updates etc etc etc.
    None of the forums has an asnwer to this.  I would post an error report but as the machines crash im unable to gather this information.
    This is a big problem for us as we use this in industry and we need to resolve this asap, no point paying for products if they cant work together, my theory is something to do with shared libraries which both products use, i could be wrong, but this is what im left to think is wrong.
    Has anyone else had this same problem, if so, whats the answer to rectify this.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Sorry for the lack of information provided, i would post more but cant gather extra information whats causing this.

    I'm using CS3/CS4/CS5 and a standalone After effects CS5.5 here side by side without issues  - on Vista 64. Can't tell you much specific about Flash, though, since I use it too rarely. Bridge may have a temper, but most of these "issues" relate to Mini-Bridge in Photoshop CS5, which nobody forces you to use and people being unhappy with thinbgs like contact sheets or PDF catalogs having moved to Bridge ratehr than still being PS scripts. So from where I stand, these are non-issues. Of course you'll have to live with the fact that things like browsing in Bridge or editing originals are always wired in such a way as to use the latest version of a suite, which might cause compatibility issues when e.g. trying to invoke Bridge in CS4 to browse something, which will then launch Bridge CS5. None of this is unresolvable, though, and mostly requires editing Bridge prefs and your system's fiel association handling... With regards to your otehr issues, I realyl recommend you give Process Explorer a spin. if this happens even on fresh system installs, the most likely cause is some missing DLL, which you also can only find out this way. A blindfire approach to this problem would be to simply install any .NET and MSVC runtime you can get a hold of and similar stuff, but this might only add unnecessary files and still miss the one that you would need...

  • Flash cs5 gallery problem...

    Hello I have made a website and a gallery both in seperate files. I made the gallery in fireworks cs 4 (as2), and the website in flash cs5 (as3).  When I imported the gallery.swf to the library it just shows the outline of the gallery (picture1) with no pictures or even the menu just the outline. Could anyone please help me out in this matter?

    You need to specify the correct path/name for the swf file...
    fl_Loader_2.load(new URLRequest("player_black"));
    does not do that.  As a minimum it should have an ".swf" at the end of the file name, as in "player_back.swf".
    Any time you get error messages, you should include both the complete error messages and the relevant code in your initial posting.   It can help get to solving think more readily.

  • Flash CS5 problem - missing text

    We've got several Flash files created by a partner organization that we're trying to edit. The files are for an e-learning course and contain four or five "tabs," each with a multiple choice or true/false question, each option labeled A, B, C, etc.. The learner clicks through the tabs, answers each question using either radio buttons or click boxes, and clicks "submit" to check the answers. When they click submit they should get a line below that either says "Correct!" or, if they're wrong, "Answer:" followed by the letter of the correct option(s).
    What's happening instead is that about 75% of the time when you answer incorrectly nothing at all appears after "Answer:", or in a couple of cases where it was a multiple choice question with more than one correct option, it may only display one of the correct answers.
    Things that may or may not be relevant:
    We are working in Flash Pro CS5. These were created in an earlier version, probably CS3 or 4. The published SWF files we received from the original developer at our partner agency don't have this problem, but if we open the Flash files and republish them the error shows up, even if we make no changes to the files. We had a developer working on contract with us for a while using I think CS4 and he was able to republish them without a problem.
    Every time we run the debugger on the files we get a Font Mapping dialog box indicating that it contains a font (Universal Condensed) that is not available on our system. I always opt to map it to a font we do have but the next time I open the file I get the same message again.
    On any of the question tabs where happening, when I run debugger I get several messages like this in the output window: Target not found: Target="_parent.q1r5" Base="_level0.checkbuttons.q1r1" or Target not found: Target="_parent.q1r6" Base="_level0.checkbuttons.q1r2". I believe the "r5", "r6", etc. is referring to something that the original developer created to automate the creation of these animations. In Designer view, off to the side there are set up instructions, invisible when published, that apparently allow you to enter letters and numbers to create up to 6 questions in any of 8 styles, with up to 8 answers each.
    Again in the output window, I'm getting this message: "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts.". I've embedded both fonts that I believe are used in the animation but it doesn't seem to change anything.
    I was also getting errors like this in the compiler window: Symbol=radio button, layer=Layer 2, frame=1, Line 1  Case-insensitive identifier 'button' will obscure built-in object 'Button'. I am able to click over to the "Actions-Frame" window and the first line there reads either button = "off" or button = "on". If I change button to Button this message is cleared but it doesn't seem to impact the other problem.
    I've spent what is officially now a stupid amount of time trying to figure this out, and I'm starting from search a knowledge deficit that my usual Google research skills are failing me. None of us on staff have any formal Flash training, but two of us have taught ourselves enough to successfully make minor changes to all but this one type of file, and there are several of them like this. I have a vague idea that it has something to do with embedding fonts and dynamic text fields, but none of the suggestions I've seen so far works and I'm at a loss. Would appreciate ideas anyone might have about where to look before I pull out any more hair.

    Hi,
    We have a problem with our action script and seems to be using cookies of clients computers.
    We have a action script as under ..........----------
    function my_function38()
        var _loc1 = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes;
        totalNodes = _loc1.length;
        cityname_mc.fl_name_mc.fl_name.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.name;
        rate_mc.rate_anim_mc.fl_rate.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.rate;
        fl_month.text = my_xml.firstChild.childNodes[cnt].attributes.month;
    // End of the function
    my_Date = new Date();
    my_xml = new XML();
    my_xml.load("DEL.xml?uniqueID=" + getTimer());
    my_xml.onLoad = my_function38;
    my_xml.ignoreWhite = 1;
    if (!cnt)
        var cnt = 0;
    } // end if
    ++cnt;
    if (cnt >= totalNodes)
        cnt = 0;
        gotoAndPlay(1);
    else
        gotoAndPlay(1);
      Xml Data as under
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding= "UTF-8" ?>
    <cities>
      <city name="Delhi" rate="£365" month=""file location"></city>
    </cities>
    What is happening is we are storing many swf files and xml files for different cities on server location 1 with same code but are just changing the xml file to be picked.
    I.e
    DELHI.XML    DELHI.SWF
    BANGKOK.XML  BANGKOK.SWF
    SYDNEY.XML SYDNEY.SWF
    All are in one folder and we are just changing the xml path in fla files and loading the new swf.
    Then we are giving out swf urls to an advertising company which is in turn picking up swf files from sever location 1 and displaying the same on their website.
    The problem is each time we access the swf file on there site the data doesnot display properly. It is picking up the wrong xml data. When we check the fla the path for xml is ok. What we think is it is saving swf or xml in cookies of user computer. Is there anyway to prevent it from happening.
    We Are using Adobe Flash CS5.
    Thanks

  • Flash CS5 crashing when saving

    OK! What's the deal?
    I have just purchased Adobe Master Collection CS5, all $4400 worth! To give the software it's credit, I formatted my HDD and clean installed Win 7 x64 OS. I then clean installed the entire CS5 suite! As I have to somewhat justify the purchase to my boss (who paid for the software), I have gone to continue doing some work, (not even trying out new features!!), I needed to complete a task, so I got onto it.
    I opened up an existing file which was created using CS4, noticed a few bugs that arose when published out using CS5 (mainly around the way that fonts were referred as), fixed those, then all was going well. As we have all done, I got involved with the work, and worked for a long time without saving. I realised this and quickly went to save. The dialog box came up advising that it needed to change versions to CS5 (rather than the original CS4), so I cancelled out and did a file Save As.
    I thought I would create a new file so that if anything went wrong, I would have a backup. BLOODY LUCKY I DID, as when I went to save as, Flash crashed, loosing all the work I did. I did manage to get a screenshot of some of my AS which was lucky, but when I looked into the folder where I tried to save, there was a completley useless *.fla of 1kb in size which was completely corrupted and couldn't open up.
    Resigned to the fact that I lost all my work (nothing new - as we all know it happens every now and then), I thought I would open up Flash, and the very first task would be to save it as CS5 format. Low and behold, flash crashes again, again leaving a corrupted file in it's place. For $4400, you would think you could at least save the work you have done!!
    In other tests, it seems it can save new files, and some simple animations created in CS4, but what the hell do I do with all the existing work that I have spent the last year developing? Can someone please help me, as I really cannot work until this issue is resolved.
    HELP!
    Duncan Buchanan

    I have found the solution to fix my file
    In my case, I had to remove from the XML descriptor of a movieclip a reference to an FLVPlayback component! (don't ask me why)
    I am pasting the XML node I had to remove on the bottom, first the step by step solution in case others may stumble on this.
    It seems that movieclips get corrupt somehow, so, in order to find which ones, we have to proceed this way:
    solution
    1 - if you save your file as CS5 FLA, then rename the corrupt file from xxx.fla to xxx.zip.
    2 - Unzip the file, and you are going to have the same directory structure as if you save in xfl. Now, if you open the xfl file inside the unzipped folder, you get the same error you get opening the fla.
    3 - Go into the LIBRARY folder. This is a hyerarchical representation of your library.
    4 - If like I do, your library is well organized in folders and subfolders, this step will not be too annoying. If you have all library items free in the library, then it could be boring. Anyway... The thing here is to find which library items are causing the problem, so you have to remove them one by one, or in groups, and try to launch the xfl each time. When the xfl gets opened, you have removed the right library item.
    In my case, even for very large projects, I have only 4 folders in library's root. So what I did, I tried removing one of them, till I found the rightt one. Then I went deeper and deeper, and eventually found the **** movieclip causing the crash.
    If its not an important item, you can just happily continue to work and do it again. In my case, it was a vital component, so I went inside the xml definition, and tried to remove nodes untill it finally opened.
    TAHDAH
    The file got opened again, just with a missing reference inside that movieclip.
    I have read that often an empty frame may cause the problem, so you should look for <element/> tag.
    In my case, was a FLVPlayback component.
    Find below the node I had to remove (someone from Adobe may give a look)
    It is advised untill Flash CS5 doesn't get stabilized on file save  (yeah, I know, a detail!) to store your projects as xfl and not as FLA  files. (I don't really know why, since a fla file is just a zipped xfl  folder renamed as .fla)
    Exhausted but happy.

  • Flash CS5.5 - not saving all frames in symbols?

    Hi,
    We have a problem where our Flash CS5.5  (mac) does not save all of the frames in a symbol? For example, we animate a walk in a symbol, the symbol is a 'grahpic'. We make a keyframe and reference frame 5 in the walk. Save the project. When we re-open the project there is no 'frame 5' - its blank and so the stage shows the symbol referencing nothing!
    If anyone can help that would be amazing, its been happening for months and we have yet to find anyone online who has the same problem,
    Thanks!
    Garth

    We're having the same issue on our project. My coworker is using Windows though, but it's selectively not saving all the frames in a graphic on his laptop. It has severely destroyed our progress on this project now and we're livid. I wish I could help, but I'm searching for a solution as well.
    He's been saving to his Dropbox account, we're going to see if that has anything to do with it, like it's syncing with an older version of the file somehow.

  • BIG PROBLEM.....Flash CS5 won't recognise Freehand files

    Hi,
    CS5 upgrade installed onto a PC that has not sseen Flash before.
    Freehand files (FH9) that import to Library in Flash Pro8, when I try for same in CS5 the fh9 file is not recognised. One or more files were not imported as there problems reading them, the message says.
    I have a number of those that work in Flash8, same message, so its not a corrupted file.
    I then opened the fh9 file into Freehand MX and saved it. I tried importing that, still no joy.
    Using Flash CS5 for the first time, the Import to Library browser window didnt show any files, I thought that a bit odd, then selected show all files and it showed the fh files.
    It won't import them though !

    I downloaded what you mentioned and have both good and bad news.....the zipped file has only  twain32 (hoping to get twain64) but at least this is another positive step forward and another workaround for me.  I noticed the same twain32 plug-in is also in the Win64 folder.  Just for giggles I deposited twain32 into both the c:\Program Files (x86)   and c:\Program Files .......if I call up PS 32-bit I can now scan via twain but alas no joy when I attempt the same using PS 64-bit
    Only way is still ..  Import --> Wia support  if you have your heart set on using PhotoShop 64-bit
    I am amazed Adobe didn't even put thought into why a twain64 plug-in is a requirement for the real world....there are still many of out out here that still use flatbed scanners on ocassion to import graphics!

  • Adobe Flash CS5 has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Hi,
    I have two laptops. I have installed Adobe Flash CS5 in my first laptop (Windows XP). When I start the application, it shows the following message:
    "Adobe Flash CS5 has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    I have installed the Flash CS5 in my second laptop and it worked fine.
    Error signature:
    AppName: flash.exe AppVer: 11.0.0.485 ModName: updaternotifications.dll
    ModVer: 1.0.0.64 Offset: 0006a8dc
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks.

    /User/%username%/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS4/
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashAuthor.cfg
    2. Install the latest Flash update if available.
    3. Install the latest version of Flash.
    4. Install current Windows service packs and other updates.
    5.  Run Flash in a simplified mode (Windows). / Run Flash in safe mode (MAC  OS - Refer to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404936.html)
    Some  applications or services may cause system errors or freezes when  running concurrently with Flash. Services are specialized programs that  perform functions to support other programs. Before starting Flash,  disable other applications, including startup items (items that start  automatically), and services.
    To disable startup items and services, see "Disable startup items and services (Windows XP)" (TechNote kb404984).
    To re-enable startup items and services:
       1. Choose Start > Run, type msconfig, and click OK.
       2. Choose Normal Startup on the General tab, click OK, and restart the computer.
    Note: If unselected items were present on the Services or Startup tab, then you will need to unselect them again
    6. Install Flash from the desktop.
    7. Reinstall Flash in a simplified/safe (for MAC OS) mode.
    8. Run Flash in a new user account.
    9. Check for font problems.
    10. Optimize handling of temporary files by Windows XP.
    11. Set the virtual memory paging file to the default size.
    12. Repair and defragment hard disks.
    13. Scan the system for viruses.
    14. Identify the file that causes the problem.
    15. Install Adobe Flash CS4 on a different computer.

  • Problem with textboxes in Flash CS5

    Hi, I am currently a Flash CS4 user and am trying Flash CS5 currently to see if it is worth it to pay for the upgrade. I currently have a problem with the use of textboxes in CS5 comparing with the previous version. When I try to change the texts of a text box using the following command in actionscript:
    showlmytext.text = "My string: " +String(somevariable);
    I would get weird misaligned text outputted in my textbox, which exact same code did not cause this problem on Flash CS4.
    Can somebody please tell me what is the problem and how can I fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi Mario,
    I hope you are well. My name is Sandi Langlotz.
    At my job at greenidea.com, here in SF; I am having difficulty with using Hebrew in the trial download of CS5 Flash. Russ Mumford my boss has also contacted you regarding our problem.
    Flash has a new TLF (Text Layout Format tool).  My difficulty has to do with text boxes that are formatted for Right to Left text, with Hebrew selected as the Locale. We are pasting from Microsoft Word.
    I hope  that you may have a suggestion, a referral  or a possible work around for me to try.
    I have tried Adobe Customer Service several times to no avail.
    Problem 1.
    The first sentence below, (in blue) is correct format for Hebrew. Hebrew reads from R to Left.
    When I paste the Hebrew text into the Flash animation, one of two things can happen;
    the punctuation is cut off of the left side completely; or it is pasted in to the Right side of the Text box, (at the wrong end of the sentence).
    I have tried to click the cursor into the left in order to insert the punctuation mark; this works sometimes but often I am unable to click in to manually correct the problem. I don't understand why it is cutting it off, or why I am sometimes unable to click into the left side and insert the punctuation.
    Problem 2
    In the second paste (the 2nd bold sentence),  .CSO on the left side of the sentence is correct, as is the rest of the sentence.
    When I paste the text  into Flash from Word, Flash puts it in as reversed order. the word CSO. has the punctuation switched to the right (CSO.)  Flash reverses the order of the other characters in the sentence also (like in the 2nd black sentence).

    Adobe says it supports Right to Left text, but I can find no info on these two buggy problems. Do you have any idea what is wrong?
    Thank you ahead of time for any info or referrals you may suggest.

  • Flash CS5.5 crashes when I try to open any files. New ones as well as saved .fla's.

    Yesterday I was working in Flash cs5.5 and out of nowhere it stopped responding. So I quit and turned it back on again. Okay, it loaded fine, the screen came up, prompting me to create a new file or open one. I tried opening my old file and Flash stopped responding. Worried that it might be a corruption in my file, I opened Flash up again, this time to try and create a new file. When I clicked Actionscript 3.0, the same thing happened. It stopped responding.
    I've tried a few differnet things. From rebooting the computer to deleting the preferences even to uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing seems to fix this. Can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
    Here are my system specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Asus G73Sw Series
    i7-2630QM CPU 2.00 Ghz
    8GB ram
    64bit

    Oddly enough, I opened up Flash again, today, just to see if it was still the same, and it had worked. Everything seemed normal, I opened a new document and started working. Then, out of nowhere it stopped responding again. So I waited for it to respond, it didn't. I closed it from the task manager, and now it's back to the original problem of crashing when I try to create a new document or open an old ontrie
    Update: I tried the cleaner, as you'd suggested. Followed all the steps, but to no avail. Think it may have something to do with my machine, and less with the software?

  • Flash CS5 Windows 7 64-bits problem

    Hello and thank you for reading my problem and trying to help. I actually have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits. So I've downloaded, extracted and installed Flash correctly. When I try to open the software, on the loading screen, the loading slows down on fonts and when building workspace a window appears and flash just freezes. I've tried running as an administrator, compatibility mode, yet nothing seems to work. When i checked out the folder, I found error logs. They are all the same, here's the content of one:

    I hope the informations I gave will help figure out the problem, and thank you .

    Hi,
    In case some people are still trying to find a solution to this problem.
    In order to solve this I had to do the following:
    Assuming you installed the latest Java Runtime, in my case Java 1.6, you will need to uninstall it from your machine, delete the  bin and lib folders from C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre.
    The next step google for ‘Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 22′.Install it and then  copy the bin and lib folders back to C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre. After that you can go and install Java runtime 1.6 back. It’s  works with no errors now. The issue seems to be that Java 1.6 does not play nicely with Flash CS5 and CS5.5. This link helped me find the solution.

  • Problem with Installing Trial of Flash CS5.5

    I'm trying to install the trial version of Flash CS5.5.  I have downloaded it with the Adobe Downloader without problems.  However, when I try to install the program, it gives me an error.  I am able to select the "trial" radio button and can accept the user agreement.  When it tries to install, it gives me the following error message: "The Setup encountered an error(-1) during install. Please restart the machine and try again."  I have restarted and tried to install the software several times without success.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    DancingCavy9 the advantage of setting up a new administrator account is that account has fresh permissions assigned to it.  This is why it is a recommended form of troubleshooting.
    The install logs document will allow you to review the install logs. Alternately if you would like to run the Adobe Support Advisor, select the option to Package for Support, and respond to this thread with your token number I would be happy to review your install logs.

  • Problems copying between Flash CS5.5 and TextEdit in OSX Lion

    This is a wierd one but it's cost me a ton of time...
    When running Flash CS5.5 on OSX Lion (vs. 10.7.4) if I copy text from Flash and then paste it into a TextEdit Document it ALWAYS results in slowing down Flash to the point where it is basically unusable. The ONLY solution is to restart the whole system. (I use TextEdit to document my work, so I go back and forth between the two constantly).
    Specifically, the copied text must be from a Instance Name field or a Movie Clip name field. (I've copied text out of a classic text field without problem).
    When I go to paste the text into a TextEdit document there is a abnormal lag of a few seconds, but the text does get pasted, and TextEdit continues to function normally.
    However, when I then return to Flash, it is noticable slower. Every click takes several seconds to register. For example, when opening a movie clip in the library, after double clicking the MC after a few seconds the MC will be highlighted, after several more seconds the timeline will display for that MC, afer several more seconds the stage will finally display the cotents of the MC. The larger the file, the longer the delays.
    Restarting Flash makes no difference. Trashing Prefs makes no difference. However restarting the entire system does fix the problem.
    I also reinstalled Flash, which also fixed the problem, but I was able to cause the problem to occur again.
    I may pass this along to Apple also.
    Thanks for any insights!

    Thanks! (Didn't understand what you meant before).
    Activity Monitor showed that pasting the text in TextEdit caused fontd to jump up to near 100% whenever I tried to interact with Flash. fontworker and helpd also hit near 100% for a few moments, but it was mostly fontd. Killing fontd in Activity Monitor seemed to return everything to normal (but I'm not sure what else is affected by doing that).  I am also, then, unable to make the bug occur again.
    So it appears to be the os. Strange that this only seems to affect Flash, though.
    Thanks again (Learned something!)
