Flash cs6 professional Vs Flash Builder

When it comes to creating apps for tablet devices .. what is the main differences between flash builder and flash cs6 porfessional? .

In my opinion, Flash Builder is a better tool for coding and Flash CS6 better (as in possible to use) for building visuals. Plus, and speaking as a coder who can't draw for toffee, Flash Builder gives you the option of using the full might of Flex... which has grown and grown and got better and better each year.
As a coder, I hardly ever open Flash Cs6. I know of more visual developers for whom the reverse is true.

  • Flash CS6 professional iOS Player Settings will not open.

    Please Help.
    I am unable to open the Player Settings pane for iOS.
    I can get to the Player Settings for Android and everything else, but if I try to open player settings for iOS, at first nothing happens and then after a while Flash IDE crashes.
    It was working at one point yesterday. I was resolving an issue I had related to provisioning profiles. And then all of a sudden I am unable to get to this panel.

  • How can I get my Flash CS6 shortcuts into Flash CC?

    Hi,
    I´m using OSX 10.7.5. In Flash CS6 there was a folder called "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the Library. The shortcuts File has the ending .mfx.
    In Flash CC there is no such folder. Where are the shortcuts saved in Flash CC? ...or is there any other way to import them from Flash CS6 to Flash CC?

    BUT - does this mean I´ll have to rebuild my shortcuts file new / by hand? Isn´t there any way to import them? .. or to convert the .mfx file to .xml? I had a look at both files  (the Flash CS6 Shortcuts .mfx File and the Flash CC .xml File) and the structuree is completely different (of course).
    So what do I do?

    Did you specify an amount of local storage to be used by Falsh Player?  (Right-click on Flash object | Settings | tab Local Storage.)

    I have used Photoshop for many years for working with photographs.  So I'm more comfortable using PS.  But if your primary focus is on web graphics, I think FW is all you need.   PS does more but unless you're a photographer or working with print, you probably don't need all it's capabilities.
    As Murray said, Flash is a dead web technology.  You would be better off learning Adobe Edge Animate for web animations in HTML5, CSS & JavaScript.

  • Can Flash CS6 files be retained in Flash CC?

    I have thousands of Flash CS files with Action Script (AS) 2.0 code. Adobe Sales told me that I could edit them in Flash CC and then save them in Flash CS6 format. I downloaded the trial version of Flash CC. However, when I open a CS6 file in CC, it erases the AS 2.0 code (says it is not supported) and there is no "Save as.. CS6" option. Was Adobe Sales wrong? You cannot edit Flash CS6 files in Flash CC and save them as CS6 files? Thanks for any feedback.

    you can edit them and you can open them in cs6 but you can't save or edit any as2.  you'll need to maintain cs6 and newer flash pro versions like the rest of us if you need to work on both as2 and as3 files.

  • Disable Context Menu - Flash Professional Export (Flash 11.2 - CS6)

    Flash 11.2 added the capability to attach an right-click mouse-event to MovieClips.
    EX:
    var mc:MovieClip = new MovieClip
    mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.RIGHT_MOUSE_DOWN, myFunction);
    When this listener is attached, it should be impossible for the Context Menu to pop up on right-click of this object. Flash disables the functionality.
    When I export a new SWF from Flash Professional (CS6 Mac) and that SWF is embedded in the browser, it works as expected. Right-click does not spawn a context menu.
    However, this is not the case with the flash player within Flash Professional. The flash player presented within Flash Professional just after export will does not hide the context menu.
    While it's possible for me to develop by simply exporting the SWF and testing it in-browser, I lose out on all the debugging that Flash Professional offers.
    How do I fix this issue?
    NOTE:
    This issue isn't with exporting to 11.2 - I can already do that. All changes mentioned in this tutorial have already been made with base install of Flash Professional CS6.

  • Trying to understand capabilities of Flash Professional and Flash Builder 4

    I recently purchased the CS5 Master Collection and am struggling to understand the uses for Flash Professional and Flash Builder 4.  I was inspired by Jay Pavlina's Super Mario Crossover game and wish to make similar applications. 
    However, I am confused about whether I should be using Flash Professional or Flash Builder 4 or both?  I purchased the two books that Jay Pavlina recommended "ActionScript 3.0 Animation Making Things Move!" and "Essential ActionScript 3.0".  I've been trying to find resources that will help me understand exactly the purpose of each of these applications. 
    It appears to me that ActionScript 3.0 is used in both?  So which one should I be using?  Or both?  Or is one more design oriented and the other more development oriented?  Can one make flash game like Jay's using just one or the other?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I thought about it a bit more. I think you should take my advice with a grain of salt. I am still standing behind what I said but there are some circumstances that we are not in control of.
    If your task is to be the beginning and the end of your code - don't bother with Flash IDE. BUT, if you plan to monetize on your Flash/ActionScript skills, you may not have choice but be familiar with as many environments as possible.
    Here is my personal experiense that illustrates this point.
    I always prayed to gods, chanted to mandalas and made offerings to spirits to avoid a single thing - not ever deal with custom Flash components. Rightly or wrongly I perceive them as one of the lamest Macromedia creations. I am not talking about SWCs but about this thing that you create with preview and all other crap. Above all, it did not (and still doesn't) make much sense to me from functionality standpoint.
    Anyway, as, I guess, a karmic retribution, I was dealt this card. I got involved in a project(s) where I was not told that my main task would be to, you are right, write and reverse engineer Flash custom components. If I did not know Flash IDE I would be totally lost. Custom components are so counter-intuitive that only people without programming background can view them as a convenience. Well, it is a convenience if they are written correctly.
    The point is that, if you want to make a career out of it, you should gradually get involved with Flash IDE for now. The truth is that there are tons of agencies out there that do not have resources to hire high level developers and they employ "drag n' drop, cut n' paste" individuals. And this is a real market segment. Even well seasoned development houses have to succumb to this reality and cater to such entities.
    It is your choice, of course, but I thought it wouldn't be fare to you to be very fascist about pushing my one-sided views.

  • Extension Builder for Flash CS6 is not working

    Hi I'm trying to make an extension for Flash CS6, using Extension Builder 1.5
    When I run the extension from Flash Builder, Flash CS6 opens up, but the extension doesn't show up under Window>Extensions menu.
    I'm just trying with an empty extension.
    Note: If I create another extension for Photoshop, it works fine.

  • Can I download Flash CS6 with Adobe CC membership?

    My goal is to build a projector that plays on a local PC, but Flash CC doesn't create projectors (except through some elaborate AIR route).  So, I need to download Flash CS6 apparently to build the .exe without going through AIR.
    Can I download Flash CS6 using Adobe CC membership?  I had read on board postings about 4 months ago that this was an option. But I don't see the option anymore.  Has Adobe changed this?  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

  • I need help getting my Intuos5 to work with Flash CS6

    Can someone give me some help with this? I can't find a single thing on Google that helps me.
    I installed Adobe Flash CS6 recently and I have been using my Intuos5 Large for a long time now with Photoshop CS6. The thing is, with Photoshop, it took forever to get working properly. It turned out that I needed to use the 64-bit version because my 64-bit system and tablet drivers won't work with 32-bit Photoshop.
    Concerning Flash, it's the same problems as Photoshop. It refuses to recognize my tablets functions such as pressure and tilt sensitivity. It also has an annoying lag or lack of response if I do small, quick strokes. I would switch Flash to 64-bit mode, but there isn't one. I can't find the little stroke-like icon in Flash to turn on sensitivity either. I'm really confused. I've tried it with Flash CS5.5 and it's the same thing.
    That's my issue, and I have tried restarting the software and rebooting many times as well. There doesn't seem to be much for options. This all leads to it probably being a 64-bit and 32-bit compatability issue
    I'm running Windows 7 with more than enough power to maintain Flash CS6. It is possible that I may need to update my tablet driver since I did for Photoshop CS6, but it was a pain in the *** getting Photoshop to work until I used 64-bit mode. I may need additional files to mod the software.
    I would really appreciate the help so I can begin to learn animation. It's my passion. Thanks, in advance.

  • Problem installing Adhoc version to iPhone and iPad - Development Environment Is - Adobe Flash CS6

    Hi,
    I have successfully submitted 2 versions of the application. There are 2 different versions for iPad and iPhone separately. These were developed using Adobe Flash CS6 and AIR SDK - 4.0.0.1628. The category is Lifestyle and app is free.
    Now I wanted to add new feature of push notification to both iPad and iPhone versions. I have successfully tested the development version with development profiles and certificates over iPad and iPhone.
    Before submitting the app to Appstore I was trying to test the Adhoc version with production environment and profiles but application was not installing to the iPad, it is the same iPad that is used for development. But after searching forums and other help Adhoc version was not installed to iPad the solutions that were tried are as under:
    1. Create new certificates and profile for Adhoc
    2. Change Entitlement tags in Application xml file
    3. Remove existing profiles from iPad to avoid error.
    4. Update OS version of iPad to 8.1
    But once I try to last point -  [4] even development version is not installing. Because there are no provision profiles installed.
    Can you please help/guide me how to fix it? I need to test both development and Adhoc versions on the iPad and iPhone.

  • Adobe Flash CS6 Crashes

    Hi,
    I have Adobe Flash CS6 on my mac which I have been able to use fine up until recently. It all seems to load okay but then no toolbars or anything appear and when you try to open or create a new document it crashes out. The attached image is of the screen I get when I create a new document, soon after if quits. I have tried re-installing but same thing happens.

  • Flash Cs6 incredibly sluggish save time, & unable to save document as

    I am using Flash CS6, animating on ones with the brush tool.  my timeline is 100 frames long, there arent keyframes on every frame, but there are a lot of them.  my .fla file is 79mb. 
    there is only one thing in my library - a 15 second .wav audio file... 
    Saving the .fla file takes about 2 1/2 minutes!
    after the 2 1/2 minutes I get flashed the "cannot save document as...   please try saving with a different name or on a different volume".
    contrary to the error message the file does in fact save perfectly fine - in that volume with that name.
    what is the deal with the save time being so outrageously long? the program is equally sluggish with copying and pasting keyframes - though thats less of an issue than the save time. 
    please help me, i can send you the flash file if your willing to look at it.
    ps: I tried opening the file in cs5.5 - the save time was slightly faster, but not by much.

    Sujai, here’s what I found:
    1.       The student’s project is 58 mbytes in size. This is mostly because she used the flame deco tool to create a frame-by-frame animation of a rocket.
    2.       At school students have networked folders. The network is 1 gbit, and the server is in the same building.
    3.       It took 3 minutes and 40 seconds to save her project. At the end of the Save operation, we got the error message that it didn’t save properly (And, if we have auto-save on, this happens every 10 minutes). . However, the file was properly saved, and could be opened.
    So, it appears that Flash has problems saving files of this size, at least in our network. This surprises me, because 50 mbytes is not that big.
    I was able to get around this problem by having the student change her flame animation to a movie clip, and Tween the flames. It doesn’t have quite as cool a look as the frame-by-frame, but it’s more efficient (and only 6mbytes in size).
