FLASH DATA in SCORM

Hi,
I have a problem to capture a value from flash. I am using
scorm tracking 1.2 and i publish the flash with scorm tracking 1.2
into HTML.
The problem is, how does the scorm read the value from my
flash? I find no associated value between the flash and the scorm
script. I know I can use a flash quiz template to do this. but i
would like to customize my quiz hence i created it myself.
this is part of the scorm script that i obtain from
publishing it. Can anyone tell me which variable to change in order
to match with the variable that stores the value in my flash? Or is
there any other ways?
Thanks

  • Viewing Metering Mode, Flash data, Exposure Compensation Values in Lightroom

    Anyone know if it's possible to see the following data in Lightroom 2?  I can view this data in the 3rd party tool Exifer (if I convert a pic to JPEG) but I think it would be very handy to see this in LR2.  Anyone know how or if it's possible?
    Focal point chosen
    Metering Mode
    Exposure Compensation Values
    Flash data (Did or didn't the flash fire)
    Shooting Mode (i.e. Manual, Av, Tv, P, etc)

    Focal point is not possible. However, depending upon the camera model you should be able to see the others when the Exif metadata field preset is selected (see screnn shot below), and you should not have to convert to JPEG to do see Exif.

  • Flash Date and Oracle date

    Is it possible to convert a date being retrieved from an
    oracle database to the flash Date format in flash so that the
    different Actionscript date functions can be applied to the
    retrieved date.

    Hello gents!
    Like this. Conversion is pretty easy, when we need a readable
    date we can usually concat one with the Date class methods
    getMonth, getTime and so on. Creating flash dates is done the other
    way around, by using setDate and the other methods of the Date
    class.

  • Any problems if you don't allow website to store flash data?

    I have my flash player settings to "AlwaysAsk" regarding  websites storing flash data on my PC.
    So far I haven't noticed any issues and nothing seems to be storing.
    Are there problems by not allowing websites to store data on my PC?

    You may not be able to view certain content if it cannot be stored locally.

  • Remembering progress, capturing resume data without scorm

    Hi All, I have searched the forum and cannot find a fix for our specific needs, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction...
    Task: Remembering student progress to continue from where they left off
    Hurdles:
    We do not use scorm, and we use our own LMS. The problem we have at the moment is our courses are split into modules, at the end of each module we have an advanced action that points to a page that then logs the module as complete on our system and it allows them to continue from the next module once they log in.
    We want to switch this to remember each slide, just like other mainstream LMS do. Initially we thought about looking for the 'resume data' captivate sends out but we have had no luck. We don't use a TOC either. Is there any data that captivate sends out (ideally in the html5 version) that we can capture to use as a unique ID for that slide?
    OR
    Is there something else we can explore to try and get this feature added?
    Come on captivate gurus!

    Hi, sorry for the late reply.
    We do not use any standard for LMS, we publish to html and flash and we do not use Quiz's to score, we use quiz slides just as interactions to keep the user engaged and have our own test at the end of the courses.
    It is uploaded to an LMS created by our techie which is basically a system that 'plays' the published files in an iframe window or something similar. After each module the last slide has a continue button which points to a 'Congratulations' page which then logs that the user has completed the module and that is where they start from if they log out and return.
    So we have say 20-40 slides in each module, and we have a system that remembers each module that is not reliant on captivate in any way.
    It is driving us mad with problems and invonveniance for our learners - when things go wrong they have to re-sit the whole module. We have looked into getting a better LMS but it is very tricky as we have a complete custom built system that runs everything for the business and this taps in to that.
    After my own research I have found that the key to other LMS remembering individual slides is in the 'send resume data' field, is that right? I was hoping we could find out where it sends that data too, or where it could be picked up from and then get our techie team to grab it just like any other LMS would.
    At the moment a lot of the problems are being blamed on long modules, some of which are only 20 slides, the most being 45, which I do not see as a problem personally. It is a shame because captivate is such a lovely platform and this is not doing it justice at all.
    If I can point them in the right direction in terms of capturing this slide by slide continue data using info sent out from captivate, it might not fix all of the problems but it will mean trainees will only lose the time of 1 slide as opposed to 30.

  • Flashing date!

    Help! My menu bar date and time in top right corner suddenly started flashing and Spotlight is not where it should be - in the top right corner. I can use it from the finder. It would normally appear just below the date and time.
    Also, iTunes stopped synching with my ipods - they are recognized on the OS in disk mode - but will not link with itunes!
    System profiler is gone - so I can't even see how much memory is left.
    This all seemed to happpen very suddenly.
    I have tried a restart in saefety mode, I tried Repair in Disk Utility after booting from the install disk, I tried slimming my system down by discarding about 20 GB in the trash of old stuff - thinking that maybe I went over my memory limit. Any ideas? Virus?

    Create a new user account, and see if the problem persists with that account. This is most-likely not a virus, as there are none for Mac OS X yet, and we'd have all probably heard about it already.
    Also, can you pinpoint when this happened? Did you recently install any new software or hacks?

  • Bug report: Website doesn't show flash data with version 11.4

    A website I've used for years no longer shows any data with the new version of Flash Player; I see a spinning "loading" wheel instead, which never stops spinning. Others using the site are having the same problem.
    I have removed 11.4 and installed 10.3 and all is well again.
    Website: gmws.edupage.org/timetable (the school schedule I administer). A timetable should appear, and clicking on "teacher", "class", etc. should give a dropdown list of options. (Try under 10.3 and you will see the correct behavior.)

    I've now fixed the timetable so it is using a non-Flash version. To see the problematic behavior, you will now have to navigate to gmws.edupage.org/timetable, and then click on the icon at the top of the page  which says "2012-2013 final schedule easily viewable" (this is the non-Flash version).  From the dropdown list that appears, choose the Flash version of the timetable, "2012-2013 final schedule (07/27 -..." and you will see the spinning wheel under 11.4, a proper school schedule under 10.3.

  • I struck up with uploading flash data into HTML

    Hi all,
    I am new to flash. I know animation and a litle bit of
    ActionScript 3.0, got struck in this way:
    Presently, I am working with flash CS3 and ActionScript 3.0.
    Suppose, I have a button,check-box and a combo-box
    components within a flash application. Now, when I click on the
    image being selected from combobox, a small dot appears depending
    upon the pixel position being clicked.
    Now, How to pass these pixel values to a HTML through an URL
    from the flash, so that we can store the pixel values in the
    database. Here, pixel values are stored in flash inside a
    "flash.geom.Point" class' object.
    Please help me... Thannx in advance....
    Srihari.Ch

    You can use "ExternalInterface" class to pass this data to
    javascript (if you want to pass this data to html page). If you
    want to send this info to a server, you can use "URLLoader"
    class.

  • Standalone flash data application help plz

    I'll point out the current scenario of my problem,
    Its a data heavy application
    a rich UI is required
    has to be standalone, not browser based
    the application i'm building is leaning towards a statistical tool so it would be wonderful if i can use data representation components like 3D charts etc etc.
    I have not decided if i wanna make this an open source application or not so one small feature i'll need help with is how to protect the application from being decompiled, if needed!
    Obviously i have to use a database, duh, but what about a choice of database? any recommendations? if im trying to make a AIR application i can use mysql but its not as easy as using Coldfusion.
    If i do use coldfusion, i would like to know when im releasing the air application, would the end-user need to install anything specific apart from the AIR framework? or would the packaged release version of the application be adequate enough for using the application still containing the database and the coldfusion components?
    Any kind of input would be of great help to me!
    Thank You in Advance! :-)

    1. You should use air if you want it to be standalone.
    2. A published air file can be downloaded and installed automatically.
    3. You can even add update functionality. When a user starts the application which is already on his computer and you have uploaded an update, the client automatically shows an update screen! (very cool!)
    4. In air you can use mySqlLite which makes it possible to embed your database in the application, no online link required
    5. You can use coldFusion but also mySql. If you choose Flex/PHP/mySql, you should consider working with AMFPHP which is an easy to learn and very powerful technology! http://www.sephiroth.it/tutorials/flashPHP/flex_remoteobject/
    6. I don't know if air applications are that hack safe. Flash player doesn't have a good reputation on that part
    Hope this helps a bit

  • WDA-Flash Data transfer Frequency

    Hi
    I have some WDA program with Flash Island inside.  I share some objects (tables) from WDA to Flash, and Flash make graphics.
    So i have in WDA conext the requiered nodes (for each table) wich i fill in WDA and share it to Flash.
    My doubt is about Data transfer frequency between WDA and Flash:
    If i change a node content, ie. i fill the node again with the new table content, this node is shared automatically with Flash, thats good when i change all records from that node (table).
    1. If i have a NODE_A with 100 records ,  if i only change the content for one specific record , does
    all the node content (all 100 records) are transfered to Flash ?   I guess yes.
    2. But if i have NODE_A (100 records) and i have other NODE_B  (150 records) and i change the NODE_A content  ; does NODE_B content are transfered also to Flash even this node has not changes ?
    3. Suppose i have other Node (not table) with attribute to enter Date wich is shared to Flash ,  if i change that Date ,   does the nodes NODE_A and NODE_B  are also transfered to Flash even these have not changes  ?
    4. If i do not make any change to nodes shared with Flash , when i make any event (press match code) or change some node or attribute wich are not shared to Flash   ;  does nodes NODE_A and NODE_B and Node Date are transfered also to Flash ?
    I know these are several questions, i need to know about this because if the nodes are transfered alwasy and with all node content transfered,  then i will need to have minimum data in that nodes shared to WDA and even i will need to clear/refresh  (object->invalidate) that nodes when Flash receives the data, this in order to have good performance and server work for the application.
    Does somebody can give me some 'light' about this please ?
    Best Regards
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
    From my past experience with FlashIslands, what i understood is:
    The context data is transferred from WDA to Flash whenever there is a change in any of the context nodes shared with Flash.
    And when ever there is an event fired from Flash to WDA.
    please find the answers for your questions below:
    1. Yes all the node content will be transferred. Actually not only this node where you have made the change, but also all the nodes data which are shared with Flash will be transferred.
    2. Yes. please see point 1.
    3. Yes
    4. As far as i know, No. As the change is in the content of a node which is not shared with Flash, there wont be any data transfer from WDA to Flash.
    I hope this is clear!
    Best Regards,
    Srilatha

  • Need help understanding an example in Flex 4 Language Reference: flash.data.sqlstatement

    I don't understand how to use the example in Flash Builder. I read the link concerning this, but it's still unclear.
    1) Is this example a single file, or should the class definition be separate? I ask because I don't see any import statements at all, which makes me wonder how it would work.
    2) does init() act as the automatic entry point for this code, or is this function called from some unseen event?
    3) does dbStatement.itemClass = Employee represent the link between the main app and the class file?
    I've been looking all over for a solution to my problem in that I have 8 or 10 querries to a sqlite db in my main application and I would really like to move each to their own file, but I don't understand how to reference them from the main app, or how to share the results with the main app. I was hoping this was what I'm looking for.
    // Employee class definition
    package
        public class Employee
            public var name:String;
            public var ssn:String;
            public var id:uint;
            public override function toString():String
                return "id: "+ id.toString() + " name: " + name + " ssn: " + ssn;
    // using the Employee class as SQLStatement.itemClass
    var conn:SQLConnection;
    var dbStatement:SQLStatement;
    function init():void
        conn = new SQLConnection();
        conn.addEventListener(SQLEvent.OPEN, connOpenHandler);
        dbStatement = new SQLStatement();
        dbStatement.sqlConnection = conn;
        dbStatement.text = "SELECT id, name, ssn FROM employees";
        dbStatement.itemClass = Employee;
        var dbFile:File = new File(File.separator + "employee.db");
        conn.open(dbFile);
    function connOpenHandler(event:SQLEvent):void
        dbStatement.addEventListener(SQLEvent.RESULT, resultHandler);
        dbStatement.execute();
    function resultHandler(event:SQLEvent):void
        var result:SQLResult = dbStatement.getResult();
        if (result != null)
            var emp:Employee;
            var numRows:int = result.data.length;
            for (var i:int = 0; i < numRows; i++)
                emp = result.data[i];
                trace(emp.toString());
    Thanks
    Kristin

    Hi Kristin,
    1020: Method marked override must override another method.
    -overridesObject.toString
    There is popular misconception among ActionScripters about toString() method - if one want to provide custom implementation method of super class "override" keyword is needed.
    But in case of Object "toString" is dynamic and it is attached at runtime negating the need of overriding - instead implementation is to be provided by developer so one is not created at runtime. So one needs to just write her own: toString():String method.
    Methods of the Object class are dynamically created on Object's prototype. To redefine this method in a subclass of Object, do not use the override keyword. For example, a subclass of Object implements function toString():String instead of using an override of the base class.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/Object.html#toString()
    hth,
    kind regards,
    Peter

  • XML and Flash Data Retrieval

    in a presentation - I wish to sort the info only by either
    individuals forms or question/answers. Once created i do not need

    Could I add the 100 responses into an XML File for flash to

    this appropriate - or is what I am wanting to do more complex?
    Many thanks for any advice

    Sorting of data can be done by a database which you are not
    using, a
    serverside script which you are not using, in your own AS
    code or possibly
    an Flash UI component.
    You might want to post this message in the Flash Actionscript
    forum and ask
    how you can sort data in As or UI components.

  • Transfer mark from Flash animation to SCORM

    So this is the situation: I have a quiz made in Flash CS5 (AS3), that I put into an Animation slide in a Captivate 5.5 project. I need to be able to collect the mark from the Flash file, and transfer it to the Captivate project, which can then (via SCORM) transfer the mark to the client's LMS. Does anyone know how I might be able to do this? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

    I recommend you convert your Flash SWF into an interactive widget, which would then give you the ability to assign it with a score in Captivate to be reported naturally to SCORM.
    Information about coding widgets can be found here: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/widgetking/

  • Unfortunate Drawback in Flash Date Object

    I dont understand for what particular reason there is no way
    to create a Date Object that represents particular TimeZone other
    then I am in.(it seems that it is done intentionally)
    for example I would like to create a date Object that says 3
    pm EST
    and assuming that this code is run from 7 different
    timezones,
    so if user from PST timezone runs the code, new Date line
    will generate date object with UTC offset set to PST, and its
    readonly so cant be changed ... hhhmmm why ???
    this is (hate to say) insane, how can you construct date and
    give a different UTC offset other than timezone user executing the
    code is in.

    the silence is deafening on this issue.
    1. flex doesn't allow the user to set the timezone, it is hard-coded to read the system setting
    2. all flex date related controls (formatter, date picker, etc) are hard-code to use the non-UTC values
    3. the Date class is marked final, preventing any type of work-around
    4. The Date does not contain contain timezone/offset as was originally entered - it only has the relative offset based on the system timezone of the user who is currently looking at the date.
    if any one of these four things was changed it would instantly allow us to deal with dates across timezones.  it seems hard to believe that every one of these possible work-arounds was intentionally blocked by the flex team.  is there some other solution, or is this just covering up some deficiency of the flex framework?
    it's a a total buzz-kill if you have an app where people travel across timezones, or there are people in multiple timezones syncing.  it's is pretty much impossible to show the correct dates easily - flex assumes you always want to display all dates in the local users's timezone.
    what is the "correct" way to handle this - always store dates as two fields, one for the date, another for the timezone?  then use UTC for everything..?  and override all Flex date controls..?  i don't get it, am i missing something?
