    Hi,
I live in Cambrtidge and study Graphic and Web design at Anglia Ruskin University.
Last year I did a responsive website project with Dreamwaver so I had understand CSS3 and html5, which was really tricky but I learned so much from it
This year for my major design project, I will create a website using MUSE.
I am a creative cloud member and in the next 2 weeks I will explore this software.

  • Is Adobe abandoning Flash developers?

After upgrading to CS3, I've noticed that several components
/ classes are missing from AS3. In particular anything to do with
webservices. (I know, this topic has been brought up before). I've
also heard statements like "Flash is geared more towards the
designer, and Flex is more for the developer...". Where does that
leave those of us who use Flash to develop applications? Does this
mean that we need to shell out more money for another IDE? That if
we want to use the functionality we were familiar with prior to
CS3, we have to stay with AS2...knowing that any new AS3 (and
beyond) functionality will not be available if you stay with Flash?
I guess I'm just looking for some answers to the following:
    1. Is there plans to keep Flash AS3 current, at least up to
par with what is in AS2?
    2. If Adobe's plans are to force Flash developers into using
Flex, will there be some pricing consideration for owners of the
    Flash development products?
    3. If the Flex compiles to a flash movie, are there any plans
to allow for Flex development within the Flash IDE?
    thanks

    Hi Susan
As I understand it, Adobe has (or plans to) lay off about 700 workers. I've been seeing rumors fly yesterday about Flash. What seems to be the case here is that Adobe is backing away from a Flash Player for mobile devices in favor of HTML 5 and Apps. (Thanks Steve Jobs!)
I don't believe Flash is going away. Adobe has too much invested in the overarching Flash technology to just abandon it. So it would make sense that it would remain for things PC and Mac based, but not for smartphones and small devices.
These are just my own observations based off some notes I've seen in a behind-the-scenes forum for the Adobe Community Professionals group.
I'll try pinging the group and see if there is an "official" response you could point your boss to that may calm him.
    Cheers... Rick

  • I have a mac computer.  I am trying to install flash player but get the message "install adobe flash player wants to make changes.  Type your password to allow this." I do not use a password to open the computer.

I have a mac computer that uses no password.  When installing flash player I get the message "Install adobe flash player wants to make changes  Type your password to allow this.  I can't get past this message.

    Hi,
To change your password you will need to open System Preferences, then open Users & Groups, click on Change Password.  Change your password to a temporary one, then when you have finished you do the same procedure to change it back, by typing in the temp password then leaving the new password blank.  Hope this helps.

Done! I built a restaurant recommendation application for the Apple iPhone. Unfortunately it wasn't approved by Apple due to their rather confounding approvals procedure. Hopefully your survey will lead to a better understanding of application development and deployment on mobile platforms. Several iPhone game developers that I know have also had trouble getting apps approved in the past.

  • NON-Flash User Wants to Edit and "Recompile" an SWF or FLA file...help??

Hello!! Although I am NOT new to Mac, I have NEVER attempted to edit an SWF file and I'm seeking an EASY way to do so. I think I might be CLOSE but I'm wasting time trying to figure it out so I'm posting here for some help...hopefully!! :-))
I also apologize because I did NOT know where to post this question so KINDLY direct me if I have posted in the wrong place!
Soooo, I have an complete, original .swf flash movie. It is a Holiday greeting but the VERY LAST frame has text that is NOT RELEVANT and I wish to change that text.
It appears that the text I want to change is (I do NOT know the correct term) a "layer" of graphic content for the last frame.
So, I have done TWO THINGS: I have used the Flash Decompiler app to (1) create an .fla file and (2) DECOMPILED the entire .swf extracting ALL the resources/objects that are used to create the original .swf animation. I have NO IDEA what to do with the .fla file...I know it is used to edit the animation but I do not have software to manipulate the file.
BUT, in the decompiled files, I HAVE LOCATED the one resource...a TEXT RESOURCE...that I wish to change. This extracted text resource is named "Dynamic text 293.swf", saved as in .swf format.
Now HERE is where I am STUCK!!...and I THINK this is the direction I would like to go:
    1. Open the Dynamic text 293.swf file in a format that allows me to EDIT THE TEXT I wish to change. HOW DO I DO THAT?? Can I convert it to a jpeg, edit the text, and then BACK to an .swf file?? Can I simply CREATE a JPEG and somehow SAVE IT as an .swf file to REPLACE the Dynamic text 293.swf file? Is there an EASIER/DIFFERENT way to edit the text in this Dynamic text 293.swf file?
    2. After editing the text in the Dynamic text 293.swf file, HOW DO I "RECOMPILE" the folder of alllll the extracted resources from the original .swf animation, NOW with this NEW/EDITED Dynamic text 293.swf file, and RECREATE the full .swf with the changes I made??
Again, I do NOT have FLASH or MACROMEDIA or any of those apps :-/ I DO have the .fla file conversion AND have isolated the SINGLE extracted resource file (Dynamic text 293.swf) that I want to edit.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP Greatly appreciated!!
    Scott

That's a problem, since the format changes between jpg and swf when converted
probably won't just go back to their previous state, less the changed section.
The converter you have, is it a freeware to convert swf to fla; or what does it say
that it can do? In some cases, a flash video can be copied (perhaps illegally)
through use of a software such as Ambrosia's SnapZ ProX and a movie of any-
thing playing on your Mac can be copied. So, a movie could be paused at the
end where the unwanted content exists, so the copy would not have it recorded.
Snapz ProX - Ambrosia Software: (not freeware, has 'free trial' version)
    http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
Otherwise, there are a few shareware and freeware editors for swf content; to
some degree or another they either convert content or allow some editing.
And this may only work as far as the item's creator allowed, if the file is locked.
' swf fla freeware editor Mac OS X ' - google search:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=swffla+freeware+editor+Mac+OS+X&btnG=GoogleSearch&aq=f&oq=
I'd tried some basic editing of swf files a few years ago, and was able to only
convert the string of images into single-frame jpgs and work on each one,
but could not get them back into an swf. Perhaps graphic converter or other
software could do something for these; but I am inexperienced in all that.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Flash Player wants to be updated all the time

I am running FireFox 3.6.9, and have upgdated Flashplayer to 10.1 r53 (the latest) I keep getting notified when checking my plugin updates that Flash wants to be updated and is vulnerable with more info message of
This Plugin version has a security vulnerability etc.
Is this just a glitch or should I just give up with flash player, it seems to work fine but if it has a security problem I will just give it a miss as I have had enough security problems with other programs and do not need any with this.
Can anyone advise what I should do with this?

Hi lasaboy   Glad you received a reply from Firefox. I had not heard they were updating with the previous version of Flash Player. The previous versions of Flash Player must always be Uninstalled however. I'll check that info out.
Thanks for sharing, as many users are having problems with Firefox and Flash Player 10.1.

Hello all! I'm a flash newbie who needs some help!
I am building a flash website. To navigate within the site, i
made buttons which use the "gotoandStop" behavior which takes the
user to certain frames within the my Flash file timeline. However,
I want this to happen in a new browser window for the user, like a
    popup.
    How do I do this?
THANKS in advance, and I hope someone can help!!!

  • WHen Adobe flash player wants to store data firefox will not let me respond tothe dialog box?/fiadobe flash player settings dialog boxes not reponding

After I installed Adobe Flash 14.0.0.0.25 when I access a site that wants to store data locally, I am presented with a dialog box that gives me options: allow, deny, specify the isite. However, regardless of what I click nothing happens. it is almost like Firefox doesn't "see" the click. I went into Adobe settings manage and added the site as trusted, but that did nothing...

Best is to allow Flash local storage globally and use the defaults.

  • [Killing flash for mobile browsers] Flash Developers of all countries unite!

As a self-proclaimed member of Flash Platform Society, following saddening events of these days, I feel obliged to write several words to all those willing to hear. It is hard to bear the loss of someone dear, someone we can rely on, but we have to be brave and respond to all the threats by facing the terrible truth:  Our dear Platform, the one we have commited our lives, will never be the same echosystem without the support for the latest mobile browsers.
But we have to be brave and say it loudly. We have to wear it as a badge of honour, since all other tools and facilites will benefit greatly from this decision as they will treated with greater care by our beloved companies.
Yes, undoubtedly hard times are about to come for us. We may be mocked by other faiths, their mercenaries, prophets and martyrs (all combinations allowed). They will tell us that all is lost. That whole Platform will collapse along with the mobile browsers. They will ask when we intend to abandon what was already abandoned by all.
But it has happened before when some influential people has revealed their mistaken beliefs publically. And we have survived! We may be spiritually-persecuted, we may be unpopular, but eventually we will triumph!
And for all those who stand with me: If I should fall wrap my body in Flash Platform banners!
    Sursum corda!
    Devoted Developer

I don't think it's going to die.  Perhaps Adobe's just not updating the Flash Player anymore for mobile browsers.  I mean, what's there to update?  It's stable enough as it is.  Adobe's trying to improve AIR instead to enhance not just its features for developers benefit but to the market as well.
    More power to Flash!!!

  • Richter Studios looking for Director / Flash Developers

Richter Studios is an award-winning multimedia firm based in
Chicago.  We specialize in high-definition videos,
presentations, web experiences and print materials for a wide
variety of clients.  We are a broad-based creative firm that
    includes Animators, Cinematographers, Designers, Editors,
Photographers, Programmers, Producers and Writers.  To date,
our in-house production crews have shot in 24 states and 7
countries.  We also develop and market our own PowerPoint
killer called Presented By and sell our own stock video/imagery as
    well.
We are presently seeking seasoned Flash and
Director/Shockwave developers (both full-time and freelance) to
assist with a variety of projects. Flash candidates must have
extensive knowledge of Action Script 2/3, object oriented
programming, work with content management systems and the ability
to create and extend classes. Knowledge of Flash Media Server
technologies and server side scripting is a plus. Good animation
skills are always welcome. Director candidates must have extensive
knowledge of Lingo, offline/online database connectivity, Flash
integration, object oriented programming and Xtra functionality.
Multi-User experience and Xtra development would be a plus.
No two days are typically the same at our studio. On any
given day we can be working on interactive CD product demo’s,
custom presentations, application development, animations, games,
trade show experiences, recruitment tools, etc. We also create a
lot of web experiences, either in Flash / HTML or various web 2.0
technologies. Most of our web experiences involve interactive video
content, so a genuine interest in working with Web 2.0 experiences
    is required.
Our experience has made it clear to us that the right
candidate would possess strong programming knowledge, is a genuine
self-starter and committed team player (translation: overtime does
occur from time to time). Excellent organizational skills are a
major plus and, above all else, a fast work ethic is paramount.
Finally, from a code standpoint we strongly believe that less is
more. Ideally a candidate that can solve a complex issue with a few
lines rather than an over complicated 5 page script is who we are
    looking for.
    Specific Skills
    - 2 to 4 years experience creating Flash or
    Director/Shockwave content
Firm grasp of object oriented programming
Innate ability to solve complex tasks with simple re-useable
    code.
Innate desire to comment and document all code.
    Must be very detail oriented
Working knowledge of Illustrator and PhotoShop.
    Excellent grasp of web technologies
    Proven fast work ethic

  • Best way to obtain flash developers.

We are a fortune 500 media company in mid-town Manhattan.
What would be the best way to obtain flash resources for our
    flash video project?
Should I get a macromedia consultant, or look for someone
    from the outside?
I agree that macromedia consultant may not get us the most
bang for our buck, but I would like to make sure I cover myself. If
something happens, I could at least say I had macromedia involved.
I was thinking of maybe a part-time macromedia consultant,
and another developer outside of macromedia.
    What our my options?

Not sure why a consultant would not get the most bang for
    your buck!
Measuring in dollar per hour or dollar per productive hour is
    the question
    there.
The age old debate between consultant and employee will go
    on, but a general
decision criteria is do you need a long term full time
    employee or staff
that you will see gets professional development in this
    rapidly changing
field of technology or do you have specific needs that will
    expire in a
    known time frame.
As for looking for a "Macromedia Consultant", you may find
    looking for
"Flash Developer" or the new title "Adobe Developer" with
    experience in
Flash Video and Flash Communications or Flash Media Server
    development.
Also you can post to the adobe.general.job.opportunities
    forum (might still
be macromedia.general.job. opportunites as my news reader
    still reads it
that way) for candidates who might want some short term
    assignments as well
    as long term and permanent.

  • Don't want to use flash.  Want it like so...

Hello. I am trying to add a .mov file and a .wmv file to my
website. I don't want to use flash because I like it better when
its done like it is on this site:
www.wintersoldierfilm.com (go to "view trailer" for the
    example)
Can anyone give me instructions on what I need to do in order
to have my videos appear exactly the way they do on that site?
Thanks in advance. I know this is probably a long one.
