FLASH DOESN'T INSTALL!!!

I know about a million people had the same problem and it was
probably posted a million times,, but...
when i try to install flash, instead of the animation, i get
quotation marks (")
i've tried to solve this problem for 4 days now, and i've
tried everything they suggested, EVERYWHERE on the internet,,,,
EVERYTHING
i'm really not satisfied with adobe at the moment, can
somebody help me please and get my personal opinion of adobe
higher?

Hi AJ, Well, at least you were able to solve the issue. I don't know either why you weren't able to Install the first time either. With restrictions on the computers, it is hard to tell. Glad that worked for you. Might be something for others to try when they have that problem.
Thanks for posting your solution.

  • Flash doesn't install with IE, works with Firefox

    Hi,
I am using Vista 32 bit.  Many months ago I used IE 8.  One day Flash stopped working.  I tried many times to uninstall and reinstall.  It would say installed correctly, but didn't work.  After days of frustration, I gave up and switched to Firefox, where it worked just fine. I am currently on Flash V 10.2.153.1 and just recently updated to Firefox 4.  A few days ago I downloaded Chrome and it works there too.  Today I thought I would try downloading IE 9, to see if the new version might cause it to start working, but no luck.
I have looked at Windows/system32/macromed/flash for the file NPSWF32.dll; it shows v 10.2.153.1.
In IE tools - manage addons under show all addons it has shockwave flash object enabled 10.2.159.1.
When I go to the Adobe page that is supposed to show what version of Flash is installed, I get nothing - the red F is not rotating.
Now here is one more thing - I created a test user account on my computer, logged off my account, logged on to the test account, and Flash worked with IE, and showed v 10.2.159.1.  Logged back on to my old account - still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanx

Hi, I've been busy today getting ready for Easter and Family things:-) Just checking back in and read your thread.
I can see you are happy Great, glad that took care of it. That you didn't see this in other posts/threads isn't surprising. There are so many things that involves Flash Player. Not Installing or Uninstalling, not working & why. The "why" is the hard part since there are so many varibles that can be involved. So I usually start with the most obvious first and continue with a process of elimination. In your case I don't think the UAC was operating properly, that's why I mentioned it in the first place.
Windows is great, but it can have a glitch here and there. My "Safely Remove Hardware" was not showing up in the system tray today when I was using a USB. So I had to track that down and finally got that working.
Your touchpad drivers are doing that? I would consult the manufacturer of your computer after reviewing this in the Vista Forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-performance/touch-pad-on-ke yboard/c2f1af9d-8447-48f1-8def-2554fc0779ca
Pat would probably know more on drivers.
Regarding Norton and the MBAM scan. When running an MBAM scan it's best to just Disable Norton or any AV one would have Installed, then Close all browser windows. That way nothing will interfere with the scan or conflict with MBAM.
I hope you get your touchpad driver issue solved.
Also, don't forget to mark your thread as answered. This will help others that may have the same problem you did. The Search feature should be working again soon and that will help.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe flash doesn't install

    The following error:

    Hello,
I am not able to reproduce the behaviour you are experiencing.  The installer downloads fine and launches without getting the damaged disk error.  Have you tried downloading the installer again?  Please delete the file you downloaded and try to download it again.
    Thank you.

  • Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.

Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.  I have downloaded and installed flash player several times on my Win7 Vaio laptop. I have uninstalled and deleted all versions.  I am the administrator and I have also turned off my Security Software, but the same thing keeps happening over and over.  The Java Script is enabled and I have tried both downloading via IE and firefox.  It is rediculous that it keeps disappearing and I keep getting messages that the newest version is needed.  I am downloading directly from adobe and they say it is the latest.  Getting very frustrated.  They ask if we have any problems when we go to the finish line, but there is no place for comments.  I guess they don't really care if it works or not.

So is it actually installed, or is it not?  If not, download and run the offline installers:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
If it still does not work correctly, check
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
In Firefox also check if the Shockwave Flash plugin is enabled.

  • HT1338 I download Adobe Flash but it doesn't install. Each time I encounter something that needs Adobe Flash it tells me I don't have it. I am getting tired downloading it and then it isn't there.

I download Adobe Flash but it doesn't install. Each time I encounter something that needs Adobe Flash it tells me I don't have it. I am getting tired downloading it and then it isn't there.

    install_flash_player_10_osx.dmg
    install_flash_player_10_osx-1.dmg
    install_flash_player_10_osx-2.dmg
    install_flash_player_10_osx-3.dmg
    install_flash_player_10_osx-4.dmg
    etc to -9
Those are the ones you downloaded. Ten times, apparently. Since install_flash_player_10_osx.dmg already existed, the next download was appended with -1. The next -2, etc. They'll all be identical, so it doesn't matter which one you use. Though I'd go with the last one as it may be a slightly updated version from the first download, depending on how long ago you did the first one.
A .dmg file is a Disk Image. When you double click them, they open up a pseudo drive on the desktop. When you open one of these ten items, the Flash installer will appear in a file window. Run it to install Flash. Then close the file window (displaying from the psuedo drive) and then put the "drive" in the trash to dismount it. You can then delete all of those.
Looks like you also downloaded the Adobe Reader twice. Versions 10.1.2 and 10.1.3. Also Skype, whatever the Thomson thing is, and an unnecessary Flash uninstaller (the Flash installer will put an uninstaller in the Utilities folder).

  • I too have ADOBE flash player 11 install problems.

    Hi folks.
Yes, I have seen the other posts.
    I can't get it installed.
I have a version but not the latest.
Sorry I don't know the version I have installed, but it would be about 7 or 8.
I've read other people's posts who have had their problem/s resolved.
    Alas they don't help me.
Originally I didn't know I had to exit FF, so I tried again.
Downloaded the program, exited FF, and ran it.
When I run the .exe file I get this:
    Initialisation encountered errors.
    Failed to initialise.
    And that's that.
File gone, and it doesn't install.
    Anyone?
I hope I am not making a fool of myself, but there again, it may be of benefit if I am for the sake/help of others.

You can also try this Adobe link: https://www.adobe.com/go/getflash
If the OS (XP) and browser (Firefox) is not detected correctly, click '''Do you have a different operating system or browser?''', choose '''Windows (32-bit)'''*** in Step 1, wait a few seconds and choose '''Flash Player 11 for Other Browsers (32 bit)''' in Step 2. Exit Firefox ('''File''' > '''Exit''' or '''Firefox''' button > '''Exit''') and try to install the downloaded file.

  • Mac OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues

    Hi,
I have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X installed and Adobe CS3.
I've installed a font. The font works in Photoshop and Illustrator
but not in Flash CS3. Why? I've put the font in the Library/Fonts
folder and the User/Fonts folder and it still doesn't show up in
Flash. Apparently this is a problem for a number of people see
    another forum here:
    MAC
OSX: Flash CS3 Font Install Issues Forum
Please let me know what to do to fix this. I need to be able
to work with the font in all three applications Flash, Photoshop
    and Illustrator.

    Hi davidd61713525,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Unfortunately, it looks like something is wrong with the file system and the installer can't see the root drive to install to.  A Google search returns numerous results affecting various products and the recurring theme is that something is wrong with the disk.  There are many recommendations from various sources, but nothing definitive.
Here's a similar thread over on the Apple forums:
Broken Installer Permissions | Apple Support Communities
    And a similar older one:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1203509
I would try the following options:
Try using the PKG installer. This is used Mac SysAdmins to install Flash Player within their organization and uses a slightly different installer path, which may or may not work.
Some people have had success with disk and permissions repair some have not.  You can try running a disk and permissions repair.  After the disk and permissions repair is complete, reboot the system and try to install again using either the online installer (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) or the offline installer, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the ‘Still having problems’ section.
If these options do not work, I'd reach out to Apple support to see if they have a suggestion.  If you do find a resolution to this, please let me know.  I'll be happy to share it with people that encounter the problem in the future.

  • Flash Doesn't Display in Firefox 4.0.1

I have a 64-bit Windows 7 OS with Firefox 4.0.1 and I installed the latest version of flash (11.5.502.110).  When I go to verify the installation on Adobe websites like http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html the display is blank, no box and no information about the Adobe Flash versions.  This problem isn't with the recent upgrade installation of Flash, I've been having the problem with older releases of Flash but I hadn't thought to debug the problem since I simply use a different browser when it doesn't in Firefox.  I have tried the firefox debugging steps and no luck with that either.
Anything anyone can do to help?

    Hi,
Installing Flash Player in Internet Explorer doesn't install Flash Player in Firefox. I think this could be the issue here.
Could you please access the following page using Firefox and try installing Flash Player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    Thanks,
    Sunil

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • How can I get Flash Player and install it?

    I29/Aug/2010 17:37
    TO: Adobe Forum
I am running Windows XP Home, and using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 as my browser.
When I go to download and install the latest version of Flash Player, the ONLY option I get is to quit. In other words, I cannot download and install Flash Player. This even occurs at Adobe's own website.
How can I get Flash Player and install it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Barry Karas

First, you can manually download the installer here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Second. On both my Mac (OS 10.6.4) and My PC (Vista Home Premium) I have had nothing but trouble with Firefox 3.6.8 and Flash player, Flash apps and Flash sites that require access to web cam or microphone or both.
The last time Flash Player worked well with Firefox was 3.6.4, but I uninstalled 3.6.8 and went all the way back to 3.0 on both systems.
Just a heads up. If you download the manual installer, and it still doesn't work, it ISN'T the Flash Player. It's Firefox. IE, Opera and Safari all work with it.
Go to oldversion.com and get an older build of Firefox, uninstall 3.6.8, install the older one, go to Tools, and Options and turn off automatic checking for updates, so it doesn't try to take you back the the 3.6.8 "busted @$$ joint" that doesn't work worth poo.
Maybe when they release 3.7, Firefox will have their act together with Adobe and Flash Player.

  • Fonts missing in Flash that are installed

    Hi there,
I've created a layout in Illustrator using Myriad font,
however when I import into Flash (on the same system) it says the
font is missing. Sure enough Flash doesn't have Myriad in the font
drop down, even though it is installed on the machine & visable
to other apps. What's the problem?!
    Thanks
    Ben

A bit of additional information... The Myriad font is a True
Type. It was installed under C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Adobe\Fonts so I have installed it under C:\Windows\Fonts and
restarted Flash, however it still doesn't show up?

Your system details list doesn't show that the Shockwave Flash plugin is installed and enabled.
Did you check that in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins"?
You can find links of the latest Shockwave Flash player for Firefox on this page:
    * http://www.adobe.com/special/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
You can verify on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page that the Flash plugin is working and which version you have.
